Right then. That is all we have from this game. The series stands at 2-0 in favour of Bangladesh. But as seen in this game, New Zealand are now getting back to form. The Kiwis will come all guns blazing in the next game to save the series. The third T20I will be on 5th September, at 4 pm Local (10 am GMT). Do join us for the same. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Mahmudullah, the Bangladeshi skipper, is also the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that he is happy to get over the line. Adds that Mustafizur Rahman held his nerves very well. Adds that Mahedi Hasan has been bowling really well and is keeping things tight. He also credits Shakib Al Hasan and Nasum Ahmed for the way they bowled. Says that they always believed that they are a very good team in this format and are happy to be winning games consistently.

Tom Latham, the New Zealand skipper, says that it was a great game of cricket. Adds that they turned things around from the last game with the bat. Says that Rachin Ravindra was brilliant and other bowlers were also very good. States that he was looking to bat through the innings and the other batters were looking to be more aggressive.

Earlier in the day, after electing to bat first, Bangladesh got to a good total courtesy of decent knocks by Mohammad Naim, Liton Das and Mahmudullah. New Zealand did get close but it was Bangladesh who emerged victorious and have taken a 2-0 lead in this series.

The bowling of Bangladesh was once again led by the spinners. Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan combined to take 5 wickets and did not give away a lot. Mustafizur Rahman was slightly expensive according to his usual standards but he held his nerves in the final over to see his team home. Mohammad Saifuddin did not have the best of games but bowled well in the penultimate over. However, the good work by the spinners covered up for the average effort by the pacers.

New Zealand though can be a lot happier with their effort with the bat. They were led by their skipper Tom Latham. He though needed support. Will Young did hang around for a bit but could not make most of the start. Had there been one cameo from one of the big hitters, things could have well been different. Latham fought till the last ball, but could not get them over the line. New Zealand though will still be pleased as they did make a good effort after being bundled out for 60 in the last game.

Phew! What a game! Tom Latham fought till the end but could not get his team over the line. Yet again a good win for Bangladesh! Yes, it did get nervy towards the end but Mustafizur Rahman kept his cool. Their bowlers have risen to the occasion once again. Yes, over 140 was always above par but defending a total in that range, irrespective of the wicket, is a tough task and they are mastering it at least at home.

Mustafizur Rahman delivers! He does it for his team! Length ball, outside off. Latham heaves it to deep mid-wicket for one. Bangladesh win by 4 runs!

19.52lb

TWO LEG BYES! The game is still alive! Mustafizur Rahman bowls a full one, on the pads. Latham gets hit on the pads while looking to flick. This could have been out if it wasn't a Free Hit. The ball goes to deep square leg and they get a couple of leg byes. 6 from the last ball now!

19.55nb

NO BALL AND FOUR! So much drama out there! Mustafizur Rahman ends up bowling a very high full toss, outside off. Latham hangs his bat out and gets some bat on it. The ball takes the inside edge and goes past the keeper to the fine leg fence. So, 8 from 2 now and the next ball is a Free Hit!

19.41

13 from 2 now! Back of a length, outside off. Cole McConchie punches it to sweeper cover for one.

19.32

14 from 3 now! Shorter ball, outside off. Cut away past point. The man in the deep runs across to his left and keeps it to two.

19.21

Just a single! Length ball, wide outside off. Latham smacks it towards long off for one.

19.13

Just short of the fielder! Length ball, on leg. Cole McConchie looks to slog but mistimes. The ball goes towards deep mid-wicket. The fielder runs in and dives but the ball falls short of him and goes past him. But he recovers well and stops it from going to the fence. Three runs taken.

Right then. 20 needed from 6 balls. Mustafizur Rahman to bowl this one.

Just a single! And Tom Latham will not be on strike! Yorker, wide outside off. Cole McConchie digs it towards point for one.

18.51

Just a single. Full ball, on the pads. Whipped to deep square leg for one. A very important ball coming up.

18.40

Dot ball! Length ball, outside off. Latham looks to reverse paddle it over short third man but misses. Mohammad Saifuddin puts in an appeal but finds no support.

18.32

NOT OUT! Plenty of drama! Length ball, on the pads. Latham whips it to deep square leg. He wants to get back on strike and sprints back. But the fielder fires a great throw to the keeper and Nurul Hasan takes the bails off. Latham is gone for all money, but the other angle shows that Nurul Hasan has dislodged the bails before gathering the ball!

Is that a run out? Yes, Tom Latham is short. Oh, hold on. The other angle shows that Nurul Hasan has dislodged the bails with his gloves before the ball was in his hands!

18.24

FOUR! That is good batting by Latham! He is playing the field well. Shorter and slower ball, on leg. Latham gets inside the line of the ball and scoops it over the keeper for a boundary.

18.10

Well bowled. A wide yorker to start the over. Latham looks to run it to third man but gets no bat on it.

17.41

Length ball, on the pads. Latham sweeps it to deep square leg for one.

17.34

FOUR! Latham bisects the field! Slower ball, on off. Latham hammers it towards wide long on. The ball goes between long on and deep mid-wicket for a boundary.

17.21

Shorter ball, on off. Cole McConchie misses the pull. The ball goes to the off side and the batters cross over. Given as runs, so maybe there was some bat on it.

17.10

NOT OUT! Slower ball, on a length, outside off. Cole McConchie goes for the slog but misses. The keeper collects and puts in a mild appeal. The appeal is turned down but Mahmudullah takes the review. UltraEdge rolls in and it confirms that there is no bat on that one.

Review. Bangladesh have reviewed this for caught behind. There is no bat on that.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Bangladeshi fielders are in a huddle and then they spread out on the field. Tom Blundell and Rachin Ravindra to open the innings. Mahedi Hasan to start with the ball.

The bowling from New Zealand was dominated by Rachin Ravindra. The spinner took 3 wickets and gave just 22 runs. Cole McConchie and Ajaz Patel also took a wicket each and were quite good. It looked like they would restrict Bangladesh to a par score but Hamish Bennett and Doug Bracewell were put under the pump in the last two overs. But that is in the past and it is now time for the Kiwi batters to chase this down. Will they be able to do so? We will find out. Do not go anywhere as the chase comes our way shortly.

Bangladesh had a good start at the top. They did not get off to a flier but Mohammad Naim and Liton Das started with a 50-run stand and set the tone. There was a mini-collapse as Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan did not contribute much. But Mahmudullah and Nurul Hasan hit some lusty blows in the death overs to get them to 141.

A really good batting show by Bangladesh. A score of 140 on this track is very competitive and given their bowling attack, the hosts would be confident of defending this.

OUT! TAKEN! That is a superb take! A wicket to end the innings! Shorter again and on middle. Hasan pulls, this goes more off the top edge towards deep mid-wicket. Will Young runs in, dives forward and takes a brilliant catch. Still, quite a decent last over for Bangladesh. BANGLADESH END WITH 141!

19.52

Another two! Shorter again, Hasan pulls, not off the middle but it lands safe in the mid-wicket region. Easy two.

19.44

FOUR! Welcome one! Really clever shot! Uses the depth of the crease here! Shorter and on middle, Hasan gets down on one knee and pulls it behind square on the leg side for a boundary.

19.32

A low full toss, it is dragged wide of the fielder at deep mid-wicket for two more. The last two overs are proving to be really good.

19.21lb

Angled into the pads, Mahmudullah looks to flick but misses. It hits the pad and goes towards the leg side for one. Leg bye.

18.52

Two more! Very well fielded! Mahmudullah plays the paddle scoop, it is running towards the fine leg fence. The fielder there runs to his right, slides and saves two.

18.44

FOUR! Just over! Shorter and on middle, Mahmudullah pulls, it goes towards deep mid-wicket. The fielder there is quite inside, probably because it is the bigger area. It goes over him and for a boundary. Not sure why he needs to be standing so inside given that it is the penultimate over.

18.34

FOUR! Off the outside edge! Mahmudullah comes down the track, this is bowled full and wide outside off, Mahmudullah slashes, it goes off the outside edge over short third man for a boundary.

18.21

Another single! On off, this is pulled down to long on.

18.11

Just a single from it in the end! Could have been hit away for a boundary! It is a very short and very slow ball. Naim first looks to leave it but then decides to tap it towards short fine leg for one. Not sure why he did not go hard at that one. A sedate start by Bangladesh but they have not lost a wicket. They are 36 for 0 after the first 6.

5.50

Brilliant fielding! Shorter and outside off, Naim looks to guide it past point who is quite close. The fielder dives to his right and stops it.

5.42

Two more! On the pads, Naim works it through backward square leg. The short fine leg fielder runs to his right, he dives early and hence, gets only fingertips to it. Two taken.

5.31

Now follows the boundary with a single as this is nudged around the corner.

5.24

TOP EDGE AND FOUR! Fortunate boundary but Das won't care! Fuller and around off, Das looks to heave it over the leg side. This flies off the outside edge, over short third man for a boundary. Welcome boundary.

4.51

In the air... safe! A short one, it hurries onto the batter. Naim looks to pull, it goes off the splice and just over mid-wicket for one. A good over so far but can Bracewell end it well?

4.40

FOUR! The last ball spoils the over somewhat! This is full and outside off, right in the slot. Naim drives it through covers and this one races away to the fence.

3.51

Another slower short ball, this lands and comes ever so slowly. Das is way too early in the pull, he misses, it hits his body and rolls on the off side for one. No signal from the umpire so there might be an under edge.

3.41

Quick run! Rotation of strike is very important on such wickets! On off, this is pushed to mid off for a single.

3.30

Once again the slowness of the wicket is very evident there! A slower short one, Naim is early into the pull, it goes off the under edge to the keeper.

3.20

Yet another dot! On off, Naim pushes it nicely but to covers.

3.10

A slower one, full and outside off. Naim looks to drive but due to the slowness, it goes off the inner half back to the bowler.

2.50

Flatter and on middle, Das keeps it out.

2.40

Good stop! This is tossed up again, this lands and then turns away. Das looks to go over covers, it goes off the outer half towards short third man who dives to his left and stops it.

2.34

FOUR MORE! This one is off the back foot! Shorter and outside off, Das stays back and slaps it through covers for the second boundary in the over. Really good over so far. 9 from it.

1.52

EDGY RUNS! No slip in place and two is taken! On off, this one goes on with the arm. Das looks to flick, it goes off the leading edge through the vacant first slip region for two. Das is off the mark.

1.40

A huge appeal but turned down! Das walks right across the stumps. This lands outside off, he tries to sweep but misses. An appeal but turned down. Impact is outside off.

1.30

DROPPED! That is a sitter! Colin de Grandhomme can't believe he has dropped that! It is short and on middle, Das looks to pull but it goes more off the splice and towards square leg. Colin de Grandhomme spills it. This could prove costly. Das is a very dangerous batter.

1.21

Good running! Shorter and on off, Naim guides it towards point, it is to his right and they take a quick run.

1.10

Shorter and outside off, this is guided to point.

0.20

Flatter and on middle, this one turns back in. Naim looks to flick but misses to get hit high on the pads.

0.12

Two! Naim is underway! He goes for the slog sweep straight away, this lands on middle, he connects well, it goes towards deep square leg. The fielder in the deep runs to his left, slides and saves two for his side. Bangladesh and Naim are underway!

We are all set for the action to begin! The Bangladesh openers, Liton Das and Mohammad Naim walk out to the centre. Ajaz Patel to bowl. Here we go...

Tom Latham says they wanted to bat first too but they are now bowling first and he hopes they can get some early wickets. States the way they came out with the ball was very good, it was small target and they bowled decently. He hopes they can do better here and get the important wickets. Also says the guys reflected on what they could have done better and they are looking forward to this game. Informs they have two changes, Hamish Bennett and Ben Sears come in for Blair Tickner and Jacob Duffy.

Mahmudullah says they need to have a good start, he expects the wicket to remain the same. Adds it is always important to get early wickets so that you can put the opposition under pressure and it is important to start well and put some runs on the board. Mentions the wicket looks similar and they need to get to something aroun 130 or 140 and that will be a challenging score. Ends by saying the spinners have bowled very well and they have a good bowling unit.

PITCH REPORT - Athar Ali Khan says this is pitch number 3 but it looks similar to the surface on which they played the first game. States it will be good for the spinners. Adds the Bangladesh seamers have done well too with their cutters. Mentions it is not a high-scoring ground and you need to rotate strike and wait for the loose balls.

NEW ZEALAND (PLAYING XI) - Tom Blundell, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Latham (WK/C), Henry Nicholls, Cole McConchie, Doug Bracewell, Ajaz Patel, Hamish Bennett (IN FOR Blair Tickner), Ben Sears (IN FOR Jacob Duffy).

BANGLADESH (UNCHANGED PLAYING XI) - Mohammad Naim, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed.

TOSS - Bangladesh have won the toss and have ELECTED TO BAT!

A loss here for the visitors will make it very difficult for them to make a comeback into the series and a win for Bangladesh will see them inch closer of recording yet another series win on home soil. A very important clash awaits. Stay tuned for the toss in a bit.

For Bangladesh, they are just growing in confidence at the moment. They recorded their first ever series win over Australia some time back and now their first ever win in T20Is over the Kiwis. Yes, this is not a full-strength New Zealand side but take nothing away from the brand of cricket the hosts are playing. Also, winning is a habit and that is one habit they would love to develop heading into the T20 World Cup.

Now when we say better, you'll might be wondering, surely, New Zealand can't do worse, surely they would better their performance! However, the wicket here keeps getting tough, we saw that in the Australia series, that scores kept going down in each game as the wicket started to take more and more turn. Most of the New Zealand batters are quite inexperienced, these are alien-like conditions for them so one can't count out them being bundled out for another very low score.

It was Australia who were embarrassed by Bangladesh some time ago and now the Kiwis went down in quite a humiliating manner. The sides from Down Under have found out that batting is not going to be easy the hard way. Australia failed to cross the 130-run mark in their 5-match T20I series with their lowest score being 62. The New Zealand side were bundled out for 2 lesser than what was Australia's lowest in the former's first game, 60 to be precise. They were decimated by the Bangladeshi spinners. Will we see a better outing for them with the bat this time? We will find out. Welcome to the coverage.
