A result seems quite sure unless weather plays a part. The forecast is fine though so a draw is the most unlikeliest result. The likeliest on the hand is an England win, they are heavy favourites at the moment to win this game. The visitors, need wickets and quickly, first though, they need to break this stand which is looking solid so far. An important first session awaits…

New Zealand, they had their chances, there were a few opportunities created by Bracewell but none were taken. There was enough assistance from the pitch as well but they just weren’t consistent with their lines. Also, Williamson will be disappointed with the rate at which England scored. Just in, Ben Foakes has been ruled out of the Test series due to covid. He wasn't seen on the field as well on Day 3 as he had a stiff back and Jonny Bairstow donned the gloves on his behalf. Now, it has been confirmed Sam Billings will be Foakes direct replacement.

For New Zealand, it has to be the pair of Mitchell and Blundell yet again who have to bail them out of jail. The Kiwis would be wanting to stretch their lead to 250 at least. It is not going to be easy against an English bowling attack which is doing really well. The first session could decide a lot in this game. Welcome to the coverage.

What a series this has been as a neutral! All the games so far have been filled with excitement and this one is no less. Whenever England have had their backs against the wall they have come out fighting and so is the case here. After the top three for New Zealand took them into a strong position, they hosts’ bowlers fought back in the last session to take their side on top. The lead is just the 137 and they would know if they can break the current partnership, they can keep the Kiwis to a low score.

The breaks just did not work for the visitors. There were a few rash shots from Williamson and Latham who were looking solid before and that has put them behind in the game. All that hard work before this session, first to not let England take a big lead and then to begin really well with the bat could go down the drain if Mitchell and Blundell do not come to the rescue, AGAIN. The England bowlers were really good for the initial part of the session but later on, there were far too many loose balls which let the Kiwis score freely. They’ll need to first stem the run flow and then look to take wickets or they’ll be chasing a big total. An important session awaits, do join us in a bit.

That’s a really good session for the visitors and for now, they are in the ascendancy In this game. The start though was not the best as they lost Young early after Lunch but since then, it has been all New Zealand. Latham and Williamson have looked solid and are amidst an excellent stand. Both have their eye in and now need to make most of it. The lead is nearing a 100 but New Zealand will know they need to keep batting as long as they can.

... Day 3, Session 2 ...

England started the moving day briskly. They dominated the opening hour of the session, although could not continue in the same manner. Even though they lost Overton early on, Broad showed attacking intent with the blade straightaway that helped them to put on a small but an effective lead of 31 runs with the help of the tail-enders. Bairstow missed out on his double century but he did play his part to get his side back in the mix. New Zealand seamers on the other hand, ended the innings on a solid note, as they took the final three wickets in quick succession to let their batters out before the Lunch break.
