.. Day 5, Session 3 ...

Right then! We are in the final session of this Test. An interesting session coming up. Will we witness a draw? Or will New Zealand manage to pick up 8 wickets? We will find out. Do join us for the final session in about 20 minutes.

For the Kiwis, their only target would be picking up the crucial wicket of Joe root and rip their inexperienced line up later on to get a win. Wagner has been consistent with his line and lengths while Jamieson isn't allowing the batsman to get runs off his bowling, he has been unlucky to not get the elusive outside edge despite going past it on numerous occasiosn. Southee as in the first innings has been bowling well but would like to repeat the heroics. There is also some turn in this wicket and it would be crucial to see what role Mitchell Santner plays.

After New Zealand declared on 169 asking England to chase down 273, the openers started the innings well as they played their innings slowly and took their time to settle. The English openers showed character while batting. Especially Sibley, who showed great patience early on in the innings. Burns and Sibley carried in fine fashion and defended with confidence. They showed great composure as they rarely chased any deliveries. Burns saw some extra bounce and would consider himself lucky not falling early. But Wagner came on dismissed him off a really good delivery. Sibley continued to show patience while Crawley departed off Southee after a timid score. Root and Sibley would look to continue to play slow and steady and will keep their eyes on a draw.

A good session for England and it is very likely that this game will end in a draw. They have hung in there and would look to carry on the same way post Tea. For New Zealand, the only thing that they would look to do is pick up wickets soon.

Hello and welcome to the final day of the first Test between England and New Zealand at Lord's. The game is interestingly poised with New Zealand currently in lead. But if they have to win this game, they need to give their bowlers a scoreboard cushion and more importantly give them enough time to knock the English batters out. For England, their first priority will be to knock the New Zealanders out soon. Who will come out on top of today? Will we get a result? Or will this Test end in a draw? We will find out. Right! That is all we have from Day 4. It seems very unlikely that we will have a result in this game, but both teams will still try to force the same on the final day of the Test. If not for the resistance shown by the centurion, Rory Burns, and some good batting displays from the debutant, Ollie Robinson and also James Anderson towards the end, as Jimmy helped Burns get to his ton, England would not have finished on a total of 275, but sadly for them, they were still behind by more than 100 runs. It was a tough start to their bowling as both Anderson and Broad tried to get that elusive breakthrough, but it just seemed to evade the veterans. It was then Robinson who struck twice and ended the day on a slightly better note for the hosts.

New Zealand started the day in top, top fashion as they went through the middle order and pushed the hosts on the back foot. Southee got his name engraved on the Lord's Honours Board, as he ended with 6 wickets to his name. Jamieson finished with 3, while Wagner got the solitary wicket. They let the last wicket stand between Burns and Anderson go on for longer than they would have wanted, but it was an overall good bowling display. With the bat, the duo of Latham and Conway played slow but steadily to ensure that they do not lose a lot of wickets on Day 4, but Conway and then, Williamson were Robinson's targets. After that, Latham and nightwatchman, Wagner survived until stumps.

Another great day of Test cricket between England and New Zealand. The third day of the Test was washed out and we have been lucky that there have been no interruptions on Day 4. Both the teams have fought tooth and nail and at the end of the day, it all seems even-stevens, with both teams having a say in the day.

OUT! LBW! This time, the review goes against the Kiwi skipper and Robinson gets the better of the cool skipper of the Black Caps. A back of a length delivery, around middle and leg, Kane Williamson goes back and looks to work it to the leg side but he misses and gets hit on the pad. Another appeal and this time, the umpire does not flinch. Joe Root comes ahead, has a brief word and decides to take this one upstairs. Ultra Edge clearly shows no bat. Ball Tracker comes in and what's that? THREE REDS. Not something that Williamson was expecting and the on-field decision has been overturned. Williamson has to head back and the debutant is making life difficult for the Kiwi batters.

Kane Williamson has been given out. He has challenged it upstairs. Ultra edge confirms there is a slight spike as the ball passes the bat. He survives.

An appeal and the umpire takes a second and then raises his finger. Kane has a quizzical look on his face as he looks at his partner for some confirmation. He decides to take this one upstairs.
