Adds that they played disappointingly and lacked intent and the opposition bowled well too. Mentions that this summer has been a realization and they haven't performed up to their potential and have to work on their shortcomings. Says that they have a bit of time to go away and reflect before heading on to the big tournament and they need to have confidence in their players. Mentions his role in the side is to float around, and go hard whenever he comes out on the track but it did not pay off.

Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first and given the dimensions of the ground, the par score seemed to be around 170 or so. England made a fast start but Reeza Hendricks and Rilee Rossouw counter-attacked brilliantly before the likes of Aiden Markram and David Miller took on the bowlers. Even with a couple of stop-starts due to rain, the South African batters managed to find the fence with regularity. Only David Willey was on top of his game with the ball for England and Chris Jordan had a rare forgettable outing as he conceded more than 50 runs. With a big score to chase, England needed to click in the Powerplay but the visitors never let them get any sort of momentum in the chase. Their batters were blown away by the opposition bowlers and it was Tabraiz Shamsi who picked up five wickets to seal an easy victory for the Proteas.

England have had a miserable white-ball summer and apart from the mauling of the Netherlands, they have come up short against the heavyweights of World Cricket. Jos Buttler, who was having a stellar year up until taking on full-time captaincy of the white-ball team must now feel dejected, having failed to win a single series at home. Both openers looked vulnerable and got out cheaply and once the middle order was exposed, the required rate had climbed up too high. Caught in between staying at the crease and keeping up with the scoring rate pressure, the English batters were sent back to the hut one by one and barely managed to cross 100 runs. Only Jonny Bairstow managed to bat for a longer period of time but all in all, it has been a very disappointing batting display from the hosts, who were even mocked by their own fans.

Given the way South Africa started this T20I series, conceding plenty of runs and being poor in the field, this has been some performance from them. They bowled well and hanged on to all their catches and there were plenty of them in this game. Keshav Maharaj gave them a good start with the ball but after that, every bowler that came into the attack, played his part and picked up wickets. Both spinners were outstanding but Tabraiz Shamsi was on a different level altogether as he picked up a five-wicket haul in a T20I game and that indeed is a rare sight. The pacers were economical and the Proteas will be proud of the way they have bounced back here after losing the first game of the series by a big margin.

This has been as dominant as it gets from South Africa as they have ripped apart the English batting order to seal a memorable comeback series win, their first T20I series victory in England. The match started with a wicket-maiden from David Willey but since then it has been all Proteas.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The umpires are out in the middle and they are followed by the English opening pair of Jos Buttler and Jason Roy. The South African team is seen in a huddle before taking the field. It will be Keshav Maharaj to start off proceedings with the ball for South Africa.

... The Run Chase ...

Jos Butter's decision to bowl first has backfired this time. David Willey came back into the side and had an instant impact with his maiden-wicket over to start the proceedings. But other than him, no other bowler could keep things tight with their spells. except Moeen Ali who just bowled a single over and took a timely wicket to break the second-wicket-stand. Chris Jordan went for more than 50 runs in his spell of 4 while Adil Rashid remained wicketless. David Willey stood out with the ball with three wickets. England batters now have a steep target to chase. Will they be able to win the series? To find out, do stick around for the chase.

It was a clinical batting effort from the visitors. South African batters focused on building stands in the middle and that has helped them to post a huge target. Quinton de Kock fell in the very first over which had the visitors on the back foot. Although, their top-order has been in tremendous form lately and they came up with a great feat yet again. Reeza Hendricks and Rilee Rossouw sticthes a solid stand to stable the ship, with the former going onto rack his third consecutive half-century of the series. Aiden Markram then joined him at the crease and went onto get his 50 as well. David Miller and Tristan Stubbs applied the finishing touches.

A great recovery by South Africa after starting their innings with a wicket-maiden. Their middle-order smacked 64 runs in the final 5 overs to put 191 on the board. England have a huge task ahead of them. Also, the highest ever total chased at this venue in T20Is is 158. So, England have their task cut out.

OUT! CAUGHT! An excellent grab in the deep from Liam Livingstone and David Willey ends the innings with another wicket. Willey goes fuller and bowls it outside off. Miller backs away and looks to pull but the ball stays low. Miller ends up getting outfoxed by the lack of pace and the unusual bounce as the ball crashes into the leg stump.

19.12

The rain just played a bit of hide and seek and we are all set for the play to resume. David Willey will finish off his incomplete over as the umpires and the players take their places on the field.

A slight halt in play as Rilee Rossouw is hit on the helmet. There is a bit of a drizzle. The overhead conditions aren't particularly dark but the drizzle is persistent. Oh, wait! As the physio comes out, the umpires have called off the players. The covers are being brought on but it might be a very short delay with clear skies around the ground. Just as the cover comes on, the drizzle seems to have almost dried out and the England players are still hanging around the boundary ropes. South Africa (Playing XI) - Quinton de Kock (WK), Reeza Hendricks, Rilee Rossouw, Aiden Markram (In for Heinrich Klaasen), David Miller (C), Tristan Stubbs, Andile Phehlukwayo, Anrich Nortje (In for Kagiso Rabada), Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi, Tabraiz Shamsi.

England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Jos Buttler (C/WK), Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, David Willey (In for Richard Gleeson).

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of England. They have opted to BOWL first.

For South Africa though, their new looking top-order has looked dangerous and they need to find the right combinations with the T20 World Cup right around the corner. Will they be able to fit in Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen in this series decider? It looks unlikely with the form their side has been in. The Proteas though have never won a T20I series In England. There is a lot at stake for both the side. Stay tuned for toss and more updates.

Hello and a warm welcome to the third T20I match between England and South Africa. We have seen some outstanding matches throughout this series, but this time around there is a lot on stake as this is the decider with the series level at 1-1. Don't expect nothing less than a thriller.
