Right then! We have our two semi-finalists from Group 1 and it has been a treat to cover this group. Pakistan have qualified from Group 2 and one more place is up for grabs there. That will be decided over the next 3 games of that group. On Sunday, 7th November, we have two clashes. First, Afghanistan will take on New Zealand in an extremely important game. That will begin at 2 pm Local (10 am GMT) and later, Pakistan will play Scotland at 6 pm Local (2 pm GMT). See you there. Till then, take care and goodbye.

Temba Bavuma, the skipper of South Africa, says that the team played really well and gave it their all with bat and all. Adds that at the start of the tournament, they were more focused on winning the games than on NRR. Mentions that they have a lot of to be proud of as they played quite well. Says that they have to build on the momentum and the confidence that they got from this World Cup.

Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England, says that the wicket was good and South Africa played really well. Says that the batters did well to stretch the game till the end. Adds that to defend low score was their biggest challenge and they did well against Sri Lanka. Tells that they have dealt with a lot of injuries but they have a lot of talented players coming in. Says he is happy to finish top of the group and they will embrace going further in the competition.

Rassie van der Dussen is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that they knew they had to get a good score on the board. Mentions that it was a good performance at the end of the day and they defeated a strong side. Adds that it has been tough for him as the three venues are totally different and every pitch has its own challenges. Informs that as a batting unit, teams that have adapted quickly have been the most successful. Tells that they asked too much from their bowlers to get them into the semis.

Stay tuned for the presentation.

They had 189 on the board, but South Africa had the number 131 in their mind. They would have wanted early wickets in the Powerplay and would have wanted to concede a few runs but the latter did not happen for them. England got a good start and it got tougher and tougher. Tabraiz Shamsi did take a couple of wickets in the middle overs but by then, it was quite clear that they would not make it to the semi-finals. They would have wanted to finish with a win but some brilliant hitting by Liam Livingstone kept them on their toes. It looked like he would take the game away from them but Liam Livingstone's departure in the penultimate over and Kagiso Rabada's hat-trick sealed the deal for them.

England had a pretty big target to chase down here. They started quite well but losing Jason Roy early to an injury was a big blow. But, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali made sure that they had a good start. The first target for them was to cross the 87-run mark and make sure that they got to the semi-finals and they crossed that hurdle with ease. Then, they crossed the 131-run mark to get their arch-rivals, Australia, to the semi-finals too. What was left now was to get to 190 and stay unbeaten in the Super 12s. Liam Livingstone joined Dawid Malan in the middle after the departure of Moeen Ali and the stage was set for these two batters to take them home. Malan fell but Livingstone kept going and even Eoin Morgan hit a few nice blows. But losing quick wickets in the last couple of overs put them short of the target by 10 runs.

It was termed the 'Group of Death' and it has seen the end of the road for Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa and even the defending champions, West Indies. England and Australia will go through to the semi-finals and they have deserved it. South Africa would be quite gutted though. They bounced back really well after losing their clash with Australia, but too much was needed from them in this match to get to the semi-finals. This game shows the importance of maintaining a good NRR in such competitions from the very beginning. But, we were treated with a brilliant game to end the matches of Group 1. Just to add, Jason Roy was seen limping when the teams shook hands and that is not a good sign for this English side moving forward.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The players are out in the middle. Jason Roy and Jos Buttler take the crease. Keshav Maharaj to start things off.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then! The Proteas would look to close this innings pretty fast or else they will be eliminated. It will be a tough ask as the English batters are in top form. Not an easy chase but surely an entertaining one. Stay tuned as the chase is coming up.

Aiden Markram is up for a chat, he says that Quinton de Kock played well at the start and the partnership with Rassie van der Dussen was pretty good. Tells that they have got runs on the board and says that Rassie van der Dussen's knock was very crucial. Tells that not everything is going to be in their control. Ends by saying that their bowling attack has been good so far and hopefully they can do something special.

England will be slightly disappointed. They were wayward with their bowling and there were many loose deliveries too. Fair to say they missed Mills as Wood was too expensive and also their main man, Rashid, was not at his best. For the first time, the English bowlers were taken to the cleaners in the competition.

The intent was clearly there from the Proteas as they were toying with this English bowling attack. After losing Hendricks early on, it was de Kock and Rassie van der Dussen who kept motoring the innings. They did well to keep the run rate above seven throughout the innings. Once de Kock fell, it was Markram who turned on the heat and brought up his 50 in just 24 balls. In the end, both the batters teed off and did well to post a total of 189.

The batters have done their best to keep South Africa in the hunt and now it is time for bowlers to step up. They have posted a total of 189 and have to restrict England to a score of 131 or less to go through the next round by knocking out Australia. It will be a tough task for South Africa. If England get knocked out under 87, they will be knocked out.

Just a single to end the innings! Length ball, wide outside off. Rassie van der Dussen toe-ends it wide of point. Markram wants the second but Rassie van der Dussen slips while looking for the second. A single it is and South Africa end at 189 for 2!

19.56

SIX! Just enough on that! Length ball, on off. Rassie van der Dussen heaves it high in the air. The ball goes wide of long on. The fielder runs in, dives to his right. He gets his hand to it but he crosses the ropes. Roy is the fielder and he goes onto hit the advertising board. But he seems to be fine.

19.41

A very full one, on off. Markam heaves it to long on for one.

19.36

SIX! THUMPED! Full ball, outside off. Markram gets under it and carves it over long off for a maximum. 50 up for him and he gets there in only 24 balls!

19.21

On a length, outside off. Rassie van der Dussen gets the inside edge while looking to slog. It goes towards fine leg for one.

19.11

Full ball, on off. Markram looks to drive but gets the inside edge. The ball rolls to the off side and a single is taken.

18.52

Good running! Shorter ball, on off. Rassie van der Dussen pulls it away. He does not middle it though. The ball rolls towards deep mid-wicket. With the fielder taking time to run it from the fence, the batters take two.

18.41

Length ball, on off. Markram looks to swipe it away but gets the inside edge to square leg for one.

18.36

SIX! BAM! Slower and shorter ball. Markram waits and waits and then pulls it way over the mid-wicket fence.

A run out appeal has been sent upstairs. Replay shows that Aiden Markram was well inside the crease. The third umpire displays NOT OUT on the big screen.

18.22

NOT OUT! This is some sloppy work! Markam backs away to the leg side so Wood follows him. Markram taps it to the off side and takes off for one. Wood runs in and kicks the ball but misses the stumps. The ball goes past Buttler too and the batters sprint for the second. Buttler hits the stumps at his end but replay shows that Markram is well inside.

FOUR! Incredible! Yes, that is the word to describe what Rassie van der Dussen has done there! It seems to be a pre-meditated stroke. He gets a length ball, on off. He gets low and then reverse-scoops it. The ball goes over short third man and runs to the fence.

17.51

Full ball, on off. Heaved to long on for one.

17.41b

One more extra for South Africa! Length ball, in the slot. Rassie van der Dussen walks down the track and misses the heave. Buttler underarms it at his end but misses. Jordan fails to gather it and the batters take a bye!

17.30

Short of a length, outside off. Rassie van der Dussen misses the pull. Jordan is interested in a caught behind, but he is the only one.

17.23

Over the infield! Full toss, outside off. Markram gets the outer half of the bat while looking to go over covers. The ball goes over the infield. The two fielders chase it. One of them dives and the other pushes the ball back to the partner. The throw comes but Jordan fumbles! The batters take one more. So, three from that ball.

17.11

Length ball, outside off. Rassie van der Dussen shuffles across and pushes it past covers for one.

Chris Jordan (2-0-11-0) is back into the attack.

FOUR! Powerful stroke! That brings up the 150 for South Africa! Shorter ball, on off. Markram backs away and then slaps it hard. The ball goes wide of sweeper cover and runs to the fence.

16.52

Shorter ball, on off. Markram looks to pull but gets it from the splice of the bat. The ball lands safely near mid-wicket. Two taken.

Some discussion between Eoin Morgan and Mark Wood now! But the interesting thing to note is that Morgan has a towel to rub the ball. Wonder how big a role dew will play here.

Right. 86 needed in 48 balls but there is a different equation on everyone's minds. South Africa need to restrict England to 131 or less to knock Australia out. So, that means that the Aussies would be watching this closely and hoping that England get 28 runs more. To be honest, it looks quite straightforward for England to get to 132 from here.

Right then. It is time for the action as the players of England stride out to the middle. The players take the knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement. Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock are the openers for South Africa. Moeen Ali to start with the ball.

We are set for the clash! Both the teams walk out for the anthems. It is South Africa's first followed by Great Britain's. Done with all the pre-match formalities.

Moeen Ali is up for a quick chat, he says that not getting officially through to the semi-finals keeps them on their toes. Adds that playing against Sri Lanka helped them understand the kind of challenges that playing at Sharjah has. Informs that he is fine with not bowling at all since they have a good attack. On his good bowling record against de Kock, says that he is a quality batter and is a big wicket for them.

Temba Bavuma, the skipper of South Africa, says that they would have bowled first too. Adds that they will look to start well and put a good total. Informs that they will look to lay a foundation and then launch with the bat. Informs that they are playing the same side.

Eoin Morgan, the English skipper, says that the trend shows that chasing here works. Adds that anticipating how the pitch will play is a challenge for every team. But they have done well so far. Informs that Wood comes in for Mills.

South Africa (Unchanged playing XI) - Reeza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock (WK), Temba Bavuma (C), Aiden Markram, David Miller, Rassie van der Dussen, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi.

England (Playing XI) - Jos Buttler (WK), Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan (C), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood (In for Tymal Mills).

TOSS - It is time for the all important toss. Up goes the coin and it lands in the favour of ENGLAND. THEY HAVE ELECTED TO BOWL FIRST.

South Africa have experienced a good run in the tournament. After losing to Australia in their first match, they have won three on the trot. In their previous match against Bangladesh, they were superior in every department of the game and won the match by 6 wickets. But they now have the toughest assignment in front of them to face the table-toppers in their final Super 12 game to progress. Even a win might not be enough as Australia are facing West Indies - who have not been playing upto their potential. The best case for the Proteas is to defeat England and hope Australia lose to West Indies. But, as we write this an hour before the scheduled start of the game, the Aussies are cruising to a victory against West Indies. The advantage for South Africa though is that they are playing their game after Australia's so they'd be aware of the equation and what exactly to do. A humdinger of a contest is surely on the cards. Stay tuned for further updates.

The Eoin Morgan-led side has been unstoppable and his men have just trampled their opponents in the Super 12s of the tournament, winning all four matches so far and are sitting at the top of the table. They defeated Sri Lanka in their previous match by 26 runs. They were struggling at 35/3 but Jos Buttler went wild with the willow and scored a swashbuckling ton helping them post a good total on the board which in the end turned out to be enough. England will look to continue their winning streak and seal a semi-final berth.

Hello and a warm welcome to the coverage of match 39 where England will battle out South Africa. Both teams will be playing their last match of the Super 12s and more than England, it is South Africa, who need a win here to keep their chances alive for qualifying in the semis. This surely promises an exciting encounter.
