Commentary

Right then. England have made it two wins in two games. They haven’t been troubled in this competition and look to be on the right track to make it to the semi-finals. But, the action does not end here. We have one more game coming up. This time, it is Scotland and Namibia who go head-to-head at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT). Do join us then. Cheers!

Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England, says that their bowlers have been doing a great job and the fielding has also been great. Adds that their white-ball cricket has come along nicely and they have been brilliant since 2019. Credits Jason Roy by saying that he did a fantastic job for them with the bat and started strong up front.

Mahmudullah, the skipper of Bangladesh, says that he is disappointed with the performance. Tells that they are lacking to capitalize in the Powerplay and at the end as well. Mentions that they want to be a skilled hitter rather than a power hitter team. Tells that they have to reassess and come back stronger in the next game.

Jason Roy wins the Man of the Match award for his half-century which helped his side to get over the line with ease. Roy is in for a chat. He says that the credit goes to the bowlers as they are doing well for us. Adds that start of his career was more of a sporadic but now he gets more consecutive games. Adds that a good start is a key but these pitches are hard to bat on but the key was to keep the wickets in hand.

... PRESENTATION TIME ...

Earlier in the first innings. Mahmudullah’s decision to bat first, did not go as per the plan. England bowlers ran riot and kept down Bangladesh to a below-par score of 124/9. Later, their batters came out and motored along pretty well to take away the game from the Bangla Tigers.

Bangladesh bowlers were not on the money. Unlike the England bowlers, Bangladesh pacers found it very hard to keep things tight with the ball. They kept struggling with their lines and lengths. No bowler stood out, as such. Nasum Ahmed and Shoriful Islam were the only ones to find success with the ball. They will be disappointed with their performance. Bangladesh now see themselves in the must-win category, after two consecutive defeats in this campaign.

There is joy in the English dressing room, thanks to Roy! The opening pair, got off to a great start. The runs kept flowing in this innings. Although, Buttler slipped out inside the Powerplay. Malan came in and batted sensibly alongside Roy. They stitched a crucial partnership to take their side close to the finish line. But Roy gave away his wicket at 61. In the end, Bairstow and Malan did the finishing touches to get their side over the line.

England have won their second game of the tournament and are placed comfortably at the top of the table in their group. They are yet to be challenged in this competition. Both the times, their bowlers set the platform and the batters then came in to complete the task. Bangladesh, on the other hand, could not put up a good fight and the Lions have silenced the Tiger's for the first time in T20 World Cup.

Commentary

The chase it set to begin. Bangladesh players come out to the middle. Followed by Jason Roy and Jos Buttler who walk out to bat for England. Shakib Al Hasan to start with the ball. The earliest he has ever bowled is the fourth over.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then, 125 needed for England to secure back-to-back wins. On the back of good work, England will fancy to chase it down but Bangladesh are coming with three spinners and it will be interesting to see how they play them. Stay tuned as the chase is about to begin.

Chris Woakes is up for a quick chat. He says that they bowled nicely and wickets in the Powerplay are very crucial in this format. Adds that he feels better the more he bowls in T20 cricket. Tells that hitting the length hard is crucial on such wickets and he is glad that they were able to execute that. Credits Adil Rashid by saying that it was a terrific catch from him and it was an important one of the in-form Shakib Al Hasan.

England completely dominated this innings. It was Moeen Ali who started the proceedings and then Livingstone continued in the middle phase. Woakes chipped in the middle phase while giving away just 12 runs in his 4-over spell and also took the big wicket of Al Hasan. Tymal Mills showed his class and ended the innings with three wickets to his name. In the end, England have outclassed Bangladesh to a below-par score and will be fancy chasing it out.

The decision from Mahmudullah to win the toss and opt to bat has completely backfired on him. Both the openers failed to give a solid start and fell in quick succession. After them, the veterans, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim walked out but the former went back cheaply. A partnership was required badly and Mahmudullah joined Rahim to handle the middle phase. But the partnership did not last long and both went while trying to convert their innings into a big one. Nurul Hasan and Nasum Ahmed did well to add some valuable runs in the fag end of the innings.

The players walk out for their respective national anthems. It is Bangladesh's first followed by England's. Done with all the pre-match formalities. It is time for the action to begin. The players walk out along with the openers of Bangladesh, Liton Das and Mohammad Naim. The players take a knee for their support to Black Lives Matter. Moeen Ali to start with the ball. Here we go...

Moeen Ali is up for a chat. He says a lot of confidence comes in after a good performance. Also, the win coming against the defending champions makes it even better. Mentions, he would love to play his new role in the future as well. Playing with Chennai in the Indian T20 League has given him more confidence and would contribute the same for the country. Mentions, Bangladesh are a tough side, they have several spinners who can make it difficult in the middle.

Eoin Morgan, the skipper of England, says that the wicket looks good and it is a new game, a different challenge and they need to adopt. Informs that there are no changes. Says that they have experience and will try and achieve the win.

Mahmudullah, the skipper of Bangladesh, says they will bat first. Adds that the wicket looks really good. Informs that they have made one change to their team. Tells that they are looking to restrict England by bowling well.

England (Unchanged playing XI) - Jos Buttler (WK), Jason Roy, Dawid Malan, Eoin Morgan (C), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Tymal Mills.

Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Mohammad Naim, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam (In for Mohammad Saifuddin), Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.

TOSS – Both the skippers, Eoin Morgan and Mahmudullah, stride out to the middle for an all-important toss. Morgan flips the coin in the air. Mahmudullah calls for “Heads” and it lands “Heads”. Bangladesh have won the toss and opted to BAT first.

PITCH REPORT - Michael Atherton says that the dimensions of the ground are interesting as the straight boundaries are very long. Says, batters will look to sweep more against spinners. Dale Steyn adds that there is some grass but it will not make much difference. Says, it is a good wicket and the average score will be around 140.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, came back well in the qualifiers after losing against Scotland in the opening game but they lost their winning momentum in the first match of the Super 12 stage where Sri Lanka handed them a defeat. The Bangla Tigers did come out with intent having put into bat against Sri Lanka but their bowlers failed to defend a good score. Coming into this clash against England,  Bangladeshi's have suffered a huge blow as their pacer, Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to an injury but they also have an able replacement in Rubel Hossain. The likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have been performing really well for Bangladesh but it is important that they carry on with this form especially if they are to win against a strong English side. They will hope that their opening batter Mohammad Naim would get them off to another good start and put the opposition under pressure. The Bangla Tigers have their task cut out as they cannot afford to lose anymore games and get back to winning ways. Can they repeat the heroics of the 2015 Cricket World Cup and stun the England team yet again? We shall find that soon. Stay tuned for toss and further updates.

England, regarded as favorites to win this competition, have started well by winning their first game against West Indies and their confidence coming into this game would be sky high. They have got all bases covered in terms of balance of the side and it was clearly visible in the first game. Their only concern, if at all any, could be the batting form of their skipper but all is well until other batters are stepping up. The English bowlers are in red-hot form and they have a lot of variety in their attack with the likes of experienced Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan and some quality spinners in Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid. Eoin Morgan and his men would be looking to make it two wins a row but a tough Bangla challenge awaits them.

Hello folks! A very warm welcome to game number 20 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021 where England will lock horns with Bangladesh. England are coming into this game with a thumping victory against West Indies in their opening game while Bangladesh are coming in with a defeat in their first game. The T20 World Cup is at a stage where no team can afford to lose a game as the matches are coming thick and fast.
