Right then! That's it we have from this one-sided affair! The Kiwis have secured the T20I series as well. But we still have one game to go and Ireland will be eager to get over the line in that game and finish the series with a smile! The third T20I will be played on Friday, 22nd of July. The game is all set to begin at 8.30 pm IST (3.00 pm GMT). But as you all know our build-up will begin in advance. Do join us then. For now, it's goodbye!

Mitchell Santner, the skipper of New Zealand says that it was a clinical victory, the wicket looked a bit up and down, but the way Dane Cleaver played was outstanding. On Michael Bracewell, he says that there is not a lot that he cannot do at the moment in any format of the game. Ends by saying that he is really happy with this win.

Andy Balbirnie, the skipper of Ireland says that they were never in the game while chasing the target. Mentions that it was just their batting that let them down, and they need to take responsibility. Says that they have come close to them in the ODIs but they have not been playing their best cricket in T20Is, however, they still have one more match to go and they will try to get over the line. Concludes by saying that they have some good teams coming over to Ireland before the World Cup and they have to keep improving day in and day out.

Dane Cleaver is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his unbeaten knock of 78 from just 55 balls! He says that it's a special day and he is happy that he contributed to the win. Mentions that the wicket offered a bit of variation. Says that it was not his most fluent innings but he stuck to his plans. Adds that there is nothing more pleasing for him to play for his country and to contribute to a victory.

Presentation time...

Earlier in the game, the Irish skipper surprisingly decided to bowl first and that did backfire in the end. New Zealand posted a healthy score of 179 on the board courtesy of an unbeaten maiden fifty by Dane Cleaver and handy cameos from the other players. Ireland did bowl well in the death but it was a tough task ahead of them after the first half and they ended up crumbling under pressure.

New Zealand had history behind them as chasing on this ground has always been difficult. However, one needs to execute on the field to get results, and the Kiwis did that to perfection. Lockie Ferguson got the big wicket of Paul Stirling and then two wickets from Jacob Duffy and a run out from Glenn Phillips brought them right on top of this game. Ish Sodhi came into the attack and just killed the chase by taking three wickets in quick succession and Michael Bracewell provided the icing on the cake with a hat-trick to wrap things up.

The chase of 180 was always going to be a stiff one but it was never impossible to do so. However, Ireland just could not show up with the bat in this game. Paul Stirling started off on a positive note but once he departed in the third over, things started going downhill and Ireland went on to lose four wickets in the Powerplay. The hosts were always behind the 8-ball after that and they kept losing wickets. As a result, they folded out for just 91. Mark Adair played an entertaining knock of 27 towards the back end but there was nothing much from the other batters.

The Kiwis have sealed this game and this series with a dominating win! Ireland have been completely outplayed. After a decent show in the ODI series, they have not been able to challenge New Zealand in the T20I series so far.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The players are out in the middle. Paul Stirling and Andy Balbirnie will open the batting for Ireland. Mitchell Santner will begin with the new ball. Let's go!

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then! New Zealand have done well with the bat and will be happy with the target they have set keeping in mind how tough this pitch is to bat on. Ireland will need their big guns to fire if they want to chase this down and keep the series alive. Can they do so? We will know soon. Stay tuned for the second essay.

Dane Cleaver the man of the moment says that it was nice to get the few out of the middle and to get a good score in the middle. Tells that he reviewed how he played in the last game and came out with better plans today. Says that luckily he has his family around and adds that they have got enough runs on the board. Mentions that the pitch is good to bat on and if they can bowl the right lengths, they will be alright here.

Andy Balbirnie will be a tad disappointed with their bowling performance. It was a tough call to bowl first on such a wicket, where chasing has been challenging in the past and we did witness that in the previous T20I as well. But Andy did make the brave decision that did not quite go in his favour. They failed to grab early wickets and did leak runs at the start. But they have finished on a strong note and will be happy with a target of 180 considering the position they were in at the beginning. Craig Young and Josh Little were the bowlers who grabbed two wickets each for Ireland. It is a tough task to chase this one down but certainly not an impossible one. Ireland have enough fire power to get over the lone and draw this series.

After being put in to bat first, the Kiwis got off to a blistering start! Finn Allen and Martin Guptill stitched a partnership of 44 runs with the former playing an aggressive role. Once Finn Allen departed, Dane Cleaver walked in and started scoring runs right from the word go. He along with Glenn Phillips set the perfect tone of the innings for the Kiwis and controlled the middle phase. Phillips did perish but Cleaver continued his merry way and notched his maiden T20I fifty.

It's been another solid and firm display of batting from the Kiwis! The par score on this ground is around 150 and the visitors have managed to get set a target well above that. Although they could have got way more than that. Ireland have done well towards the end to keep it to 179.

PITCH REPORT - Isobel Joyce is pitchside. She says that it's the same pitch on which the first game was played but that's all that is the same, conditions are overcast and much cooler this time. Mentions that there is an even covering of grass with a few cracks. Adds that the bowlers will have to bowl in the right areas. Further adds that the captain winning the toss should bat first since chasing is tough on this ground

Mitchell Santner, the skipper of New Zealand says that he is pretty happy with the performance in the last game and they were under the pump with the bat initially but Glenn Phillips and James Neesham batted well and then the bowlers did the job. Tells that the wicket looks a two-paced and the boundaries are bit large here so that helps. Says that he is enjoying the captaincy role and it is a young group and they are looking forward to doing well in this game. Informs that they are playing the same XI.

Andy Balbirnie, the skipper of Ireland, says that they will bowl again, the wicket looks much better. Adds that 150 was a par score in the previous game and it looks more or less the same. Mentions that they did not have a good Powerplay with the bat but he is still pleased with how everyone performed in the game but they want to put on a better show with the bat. Further adds that they are focusing on putting good performances and he hopes they can get over the line in this game. Informs that they are playing the same team.

Ireland (Unchanged Playing XI) - Andy Balbirnie (C), Paul Stirling, Gareth Delany, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy, Craig Young, Josh Little.

New Zealand (Unchanged Playing XI) - Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, Dane Cleaver (WK), Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Jacob Duffy.

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of Andy Balbirnie. Ireland have elected to BOWL first.

The pitch was not the best for the batters in the previous game. The wicket was quite sticky and sluggish. Will it be the same in this game as well? We will find out. Stay tuned for the vital toss and other updates.
