Right then, that's a wrap to this one-sided game! South Africa have taken an unsurpassable lead in the 3-match series and would be aiming for a clean sweep now. Can Ireland stop them from achieving it? The third T20I is on Saturday, 24th July 2021 and the first ball will be at 4 pm local (3 pm GMT). But you can join us in advance for the build-up. Cheers!

Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, says that the way they started a lot of people would have written them off. Praises David Miller for his knock and taking them to a respectable total. Adds that the pitch had something in it for the bowlers and they have the bowlers to defend any total. Tells that they knew something brilliant was coming from Miller and it's good for their middle order. Regarding the three players who came in the XI for this match and performed, Temba replies that all of them have been waiting for the opportunity and they are raring to go. States that there is massive potential in a lot of guys in their squad.

THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH IS DAVID MILLER! Says that it was nice to contribute and it's a great win for the boys. Tells that wickets falling up front never helps. Adds that Wiaan Mulder batted brilliantly and showed his usefulness with the bat. Feels it was a good rebuild and then a great finish. Mentions that the bowling has been phenomenal and adds that the guys are coming through beautifully. Tells that they are building nicely and going game by game and the T20 World Cup is in a few months, so really exciting times ahead.

Andy Balbirnie, the captain of Ireland, is visibly disappointed. Says that he is disappointed with the batting but they bowled and fielded really well. Feels that they didn't apply themselves with the bat. Adds that Simi Singh was brilliant and it's a batting thing that they need to address and bounce back on Saturday. Wants to put up a few good performances before the T20 World Cup.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Earlier in the match, Ireland turned on the heat with the ball and pegged South Africa back very early in the match. At 58/5, they had the touring team on the mat but failed to land the knockout punch as David Miller was dropped on the score of 19. That moment proved to be costly as Miller went hammer and tongs in the death overs and powered South Africa to 159/7. Eventually, his efforts proved to be the decisive factor as South Africa crossed the line quite comfortably.

South Africa's bowling was once again brilliant as they mostly maintained accurate lines and bowled according to the field. Temba Bavuma employed three spinners and they did wonders for him. As always, Tabraiz Shamsi was too hot to handle for Ireland as he picked up three wickets while Bjorn Fortuin and Aiden Markram combined for four wickets. There were some early mishaps in the field as they dropped a couple of catches but the tourists quickly pulled up their socks and then took some really great catches. Overall, a good result for them after a nervous start to this match.

Yet another abysmal batting show by Ireland. After the high of the ODIs, their batting has surrendered in consecutive games now. It was a challenging target put on the board by South Africa but once again the hosts faltered at the start. Kevin O'Brien's mediocre form with the bat continued while Paul Stirling didn't pick his battle smartly and fell to Tabraiz Shamsi. After his departure, the chase never got going for the Irishmen.

Commentary

Welcome back for the chase. The South Africans players have taken to the field. It will be Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien to open with the bat for Ireland. Bjorn Fortuin to start with the ball. Let's begin.

So then, Ireland will require 160 runs to win the match and level the series at 1-1! South Africa were behind the 8-ball from the off but did manage a decent total of 159 and now it will be down to their bowlers and how they attack the Irish batsmen. Ireland will be happy with that bowling performance and if they bat sensibly they should manage to achieve the total. Do join us soon for the exciting chase.

Mark Adair comes up for a quick chat. Says that they took wickets throughout the innings, the middle period was a bit tricky and David Miller showed his class. Adds that Stirling gave them a good start and they were delighted to get two big wickets. Mentions that it is a gettable total and he is confident of chasing it down.

What a start the hosts had! Paul Stirling, with his golden arm, sent two of the South African top three batters back to the pavilion in the first over itself. Adair then got rid of Markram and Ireland’s main man at the moment, Simi Singh got the prized wicket of Quinton de Kock. Josh Little then made short work of a struggling Rassie but that was it for a while until Mulder was dismissed in the 18th over. Their seamers were expensive, especially at the death and Miller took them for a ride. Not to forget the dropped catch of Miller by the wicketkeeper, when he was on 19, and that has cost Ireland dearly.

68 runs in the final 5 overs and South Africa made a roaring comeback towards the end! Early on they were rattled as their skipper Temba Bavuma and an in-form Janneman Malan fell without troubling the scorers in the first over itself. De Kock took on the mantle and kept playing his shots but another wicket fell at the other end and Quinton followed soon after scoring 27 runs. Rassie looked uncomfortable out there and fell cheaply, but then Miller and Mulder steadied the ship with a partnership of 58 runs. Miller added the finishing touches with some lusty blows en route to a well compiled 75 as South Africa managed to put up 159 runs on board.

SIX! Miller finishes with yet another big blow. 24 runs in the last over and SOUTH AFRICA FINISH ON 159/7! Too full in length and outside off, Killer Miller attacks it and hoists it over long off for a maximum. What a clean hitter of the ball he is!

19.56

SIX! Bang! Miller is on fire! Little goes short but it's once again in the hitting arc of Miller. He stands tall, turns a bit and hammer-pulls it over mid-wicket. This shot shows the power of this man.

19.46

SIX! This one disappears! Little misses his yorker by a few inches and it's nicely in the slot for Miller who latches onto it and smokes it over cow corner. This is why he is not taking singles. Can he get two more maximums in the over?

19.30

And again. Miller hammers a length ball back towards his partner who has to take evasive action to evade the ball. It goes to long on and once again David turns down the single.

19.20

Off pace, a length ball outside off, Miller drags it down to long on and denies the single.

19.16

SIX! TONK! Miller is unleashing now. Back of a length ball on middle, David keeps his weight on the back leg and hoists it over square leg for a biggie.

Bowling change. Craig Young is done with his spell and Josh Little will end proceedings with the ball for Ireland.

Too full in length and on middle, Beuran Hendricks shows the full face of his bat and punches it back to the bowler. Adair jumps and collects it on one bounce. 6 balls left, Miller will be on strike, can South Africa touch or cross 150?

18.51

Spears in a very full ball around leg, Miller flicks it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

Who will come in next? It will be Beuran Hendricks.

18.4W

OUT! Caught! Adair decides to give this delivery his maximum pace and bowls it on the shorter side around off, Bjorn Fortuin is hurried up in his pull shot and gets a top edge towards the cover region. Yet another skier for the Irish skipper and Andy Balbirnie takes it safely.

18.34

FOUR! A slower cutter delivery, short and outside off, Bjorn Fortuin waits for it nicely, clears his front leg and hammers it over wide mid on for a boundary.

18.21

FIFTY FOR MILLER, off 37 balls! Back of a length ball on middle, Miller glances it in front of square leg and picks up a single. A top knock by David. Can he finish well for South Africa?

18.16

SIX! The biggest one of the day! Adair comes from 'round the wicket and serves a full ball on off, Miller uses the angle to his advantage and launches it over cow corner.

17.51

Forces this delivery to extra cover and takes a single.

17.41

Attempts for the blockhole but it's a low full toss on off, Bjorn Fortuin pushes it down to long on for a run. This is all he needs to do, take singles and give the maximum strike to Killer Miller.

17.31

On a length and outside off, slower in pace, Miller mistimes his back foot punch to covers and picks up a single.

17.24

FOUR! Boom! A low full toss outside off, Miller attacks it with all his might and bludgeons it down the ground for a boundary at long off.

Who will come in next? It's going to be Bjorn Fortuin.

17.1W

OUT! Mulder is done and dusted! The 58-run stand comes to a close. Balbirnie persists with Young and he has brought him a breakthrough. Fuller in length and on middle, Wiaan tries to heave it over the leg side but gets a big top edge. Andy Balbirnie settles underneath it at extra cover. A good knock by Wiaan Mulder is over!

OUT! Aiden Markam takes a superb catch! Two catches were put down earlier, one by Fortuin and another by Markram and both the fielders have redeemed themselves now. Very poor shot selection from George Dockrell. There was no need to attack Shamsi with 4 wickets already down. But Dockrell wants to dominate him and for that he takes a big stride towards forward. Makes a decent connection but it's not decent enough to beat the jumping effort of Markram near the long on fence. Ireland have lost half their side and this chase is also going the same way, like the first T20I.

Floated ball on middle, spinning in, Getkate gets back and turns it past mid-wicket for one.

OUT! Tector is caught brilliantly! Aiden Markram continues to push it quicker through the air and delivers yet another one flat and full on middle, it's skidding away after landing and Harry Tector tries to flick by getting forward. He closes the face of his bat early and that generates a leading edge. It loops in the air and Bjorn Fortuin runs in from extra cover to complete the catch with a dive. He dropped a sitter earlier and this one will make him feel a lot better.

A warm welcome to everyone for the second T20I between Ireland and South Africa. The venue has changed for the last two games and the action has moved to Belfast. The Proteas finally showed their true strength on this tour as they demolished Ireland in the first T20I. They have started to gather rhythm and momentum now and would be aiming to seal the deal. It was a disappointing outing for Ireland in the last game as their batting flopped for the first time in the last few games, and that cost them the game. With the series on the line, the Irish team would be focused and looking to upset South Africa one more time. Can they do it? Let's find out.
