Zimbabwe have a knack of not winning away series even after being ahead. This was repeated in this series as well and it was a disappointing performance from their batters early on. Blessing Muzarabani bowled outstandingly well once again for his team but one can only do so much. Richard Ngarava andv Luke Jongwe also looked good but couldn't defend the total. Ervine held back his spinners and Wellington Masakadza did get Balbirnie in the end but it was a consolation wicket. They were outclassed today and will now look to put this match behind them.

Ireland had a summer day out there in the middle even with all the rain around. Their bowlers had set up the chase nicely and Paul Stirling along with William Porterfield gave them the perfect start. The latter then got out but Stirling hit some lusty blows, taking him to 43 before getting out. The skipper, Andy Balbirnie held up one hand while Stirling was taking on the attack and then played some classy shots of his own. In the end, it was a total which was easy to chase down and Ireland had to battle more with the rain, then out in the middle. They won this game comfortably in the end.

After a day full of stop-starts, Ireland have kept their composure and have levelled the series. They breezed through the rain delays and have crucial World Cup Super League points on the board.

Commentary

Ireland put their head down and were phenomenal with the ball. Josh Little exploited the conditions really well early on and put Zimbabwe on the back foot straightaway by removing both the openers. The bowlers used the conditions very well and made life difficult for the Zimbabwe batters. Ervine and Madhevere did take the game away from them for a while but the spinners did exceedingly well in the middle overs to put Zimbabwe back on the back foot. Andy McBrine was outstanding as well and he picked up 3 wickets, just like Little. In the end, they bowled well as a bowling unit and will look to get the job done with the bat and level the series.

Zimbabwe didn't have the best possible start. Both the openers departed pretty quickly. Taylor in his final ODI couldn't do much though would have loved to and was the first one to depart while Regis got out to a ripper. Ervine and Madhevere did some damage control after that and stitched a partnership of 59 runs but the latter holed out. Zimbabwe soon found themselves in trouble with 99-5. The tail-enders couldn't put up a fight and the next 5 wickets fell for just 32 runs. In the end, they will be disappointed with that batting display and will have to bowl extremely well in order to get something from this match.

The Ireland spinners run a riot after the rain break and were excellent. The bowlers have done well to restrict Zimbabwe to 131 and will be eyeing a victory to level the scoreline. Zimbabwe would be very disappointed with their batting display.

Brendan Taylor receives a guard of honor from his teammates as he walks out to bat. The Ireland players also give him a guard of honor at the middle.

There is a change in the playing 11 for Ireland at the last moment. Craig Young is out and Shane Getkate comes in for him.

PITCH REPORT - Owais Shah says that the pitch is similar to the other two ODIs, with some grass on it and it is a bit damp for sure. There are some cracks and it will be interesting to see what those cracks will do. The overcast conditions will help the fast bowlers early on and there will be assistance for spinners as it has been throughout the series.

Brendan Taylor is up for a chat - Taylor says that it has been a roller-coaster ride for him. There were highs and lows but cricket has taught him a lot. Tells that anything is achievable and will not try to get past Andy Flower as he has high regard for the legend. Tells that a win will be even better. Adds that there are young players in the team and that's why he has decided to call it a day. Informs that the 2015 Cricket World Cup was probably the pinnacle of his career. Mentions that at some point he will want to come back in some form for Zimbabwe and give it back to the game. States that they need to keep improving and hopefully a series win will be great for him.

The skipper of Zimbabwe, Craig Ervine, says that it would have been an interesting chase in the previous match and says they probably would have batted first only due to the fact they have done well batting first. Informs that there is only one change.

The skipper of Ireland, Andy Balbirnie, says that they will bowl first. Mentions that they batted really well in the second ODI but were unfortunate as the rains played a spoilsport. Tells that William and Stirling were amazing at the top but were unfortunate that they didn't get to finish the game.

Zimbabwe (Playing XI) - Brendan Taylor, Regis Chakabva (WK), Craig Ervine (C), Wesley Madhevere, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl (In for Milton Shumba), Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava.

Ireland (Playing XI) - William Porterfield, Paul Stirling, Andrew Balbirnie (C), Harry Tector, George Dockrell, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Mark Adair, Simi Singh, Andy McBrine, Shane Getkate (In place of Craig Young), Joshua Little.

TOSS - Both the captains are out in the middle. Ireland have won the toss and have elected to BOWL first.

Update 12.05 pm local (11.05 am GMT) - Finally we have some good news! The toss is scheduled to be at 12.15 pm local (11.15 am GMT) and the first ball will be bowled at 12.45 pm local (11.45 am GMT). We do have overs cut though as it will be a 42-over-a-side game.

Update 11.30 am local (10.30 am GMT) - We have some good news! The live pictures indicate that the rain has stopped as of now but it is still very gloomy. The groundsmen are also working on the covers to peel off. Fingers crossed. The covers are finally coming off now and we hope to get a start time soon. There will be an inspection now at 12.00 pm local (11.00 am GMT).

Update 11.10 am local (10.10 am GMT) - There is still some rain hovering around and the covers are intact. We have news from the center and there will be an inspection at 11.30 am local (10.30 am GMT). We will be back with more updates. Stay tuned.

Update 10.15 am local (9.15 am GMT) - The live pictures from the ground do not look good. It is raining at the moment. There will be an inspection at 11 am local (10 am GMT) but for that, first, the rain has to stop. Till then, stay tuned.

Update 10.00 am local (9 am GMT) - The news from the middle is that it is raining in Belfast at the moment and the toss has been officially delayed. Let's stay positive and hope that we are not in for a long delay. Stay tuned for further updates.

Brendan Taylor will be calling it a day and is set to represent in the Zimbabwe colors for the last time. He has left his biggest imprint in this format and is one of Zimbabwe's greats. With the series on the line, he would want to deliver one for the final time, as so he has done countless times in red for the past 17 years.

Ireland will be locking horns against Zimbabwe in the third and final ODI of the series. Zimbabwe won the first ODI and with the second ODI getting washed out, they have an unassailable lead of 1-0. A win here for the visitors will seal the deal for them. On the other hand, the Irish side put up a great show in the second ODI but the rains played a spoilsport and the match got abandoned. It all boils down to the final clash now. Ireland will look to get a win and level the scoreline while Zimbabwe would aim for a series victory. But for that to happen, let's hope another rain-marred match is not on the cards as the forecast isn't a promising one. On that note, welcome to the coverage.
