Commentary

That's your lot for this match. Ireland have stamped their authority after a blip in the first game and taken an unsurpassable lead in the series. There is still one game left, so do tune in for the final T20I on Saturday, 4th September 2021 at 3 pm local (2 pm GMT). You can join us in advance for the build-up. Cheers!

The victorious skipper of Ireland, Andy Balbirnie is up for a chat. He is very happy with this win especially after losing the toss. Adds that they were not sure of what would be a good total but they were happy with 174. Tells that they do not play this format regularly and Andy feels that they need at least 6-7 match-winners going into the T20 World Cup. Says that they want a squad of 15 players who can win games on their day for Ireland. Signs off by saying that they have won this series but with the ODIs coming, they want to build some momentum.

Craig Ervine, the skipper of Zimbabwe, expresses his disappointment and tells that they just never got going in the chase. Feels that it is becoming an issue for them and they need to sort it out going forward. Admits that the stand between Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien put them on the back foot. Adds that a couple of wickets in the middle overs allowed them to make a comeback as at one stage it appeared that Ireland will get a score around 180-190. Praises Wellington Masakadza for his bowling who has become a consistent performer for them. Mentions that every game is important and although the series is gone, the last match offers them the opportunity to try out different combinations.

Mark Adair gets the Man of the Match award! The speedster says that it was nice to come back and make an impact straightaway. Shares that they sat down as a bowling unit after the first game with the coach and they thought of some different plans. Says that they had a pretty good series against South Africa and it's good to win this one against Zimbabwe. Signs off by saying that the plan is to win this series 4-1.

Presentation time...

The chase was put to bed inside the Powerplay. It was a very flavourless show from Zimbabwe, both with the bat and ball. There wasn't enough planning and execution from them and that was very disappointing to see from a team which showed a lot of fight in the series opener. Full marks to Ireland for the way they have bounced back after a morale-deflating loss in the first T20I. Their batting and bowling have started to click together and are complementing each other superbly.

A clinical performance from Ireland and they have taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the 5-match T20I series. Their batting was right on the money with Paul Stirling, Kevin O'Brien and Andy Balbirnie doing the maximum damage. After posting 174 on the board, the Irishmen had the upper hand and their bowlers turned up in full force to make Zimbabwe surrender. Three blows from Mark Adair at the start was enough to take the wind out of Zimbabwe's sails and from there on, the chase was just meandering towards a one-sided victory for Ireland.

Commentary

The players have returned on the field. Wesley Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani are the nominated openers for Zimbabwe. It's upto them to maximize the Powerplay and provide Zimbabwe with a good start. Craig Young, back in the XI, to begin proceedings with the ball. One slip in place. Here we go...

... CHASE TIME ...

Right then, Zimbabwe fell short by 40 runs while chasing a target of 179 in the last match. Can they regroup and overhaul this target? If they want to keep this series alive, they have no other option but to do it. Do join us in a short while for the chase.

It was a strong batting show from the Irishmen yet again. Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien formed an 89-run stand and powered Ireland in the right direction. Their departure slowed things down a bit but a fluent knock by Andy Balbirnie kept them in the hunt for a score in excess of 175. However, Zimbabwe pulled back the strings by picking two wickets in back-to-back overs to halt the Irish charge. Towards the end, handy knocks from William McClintock and George Dockrell took them to a challenging total. For Zimbabwe, Wellington Masakadza was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets whereas Luke Jongwe was very economical. Apart from these two, the rest of the bowling was quite flat.

A couple of expensive overs at the death and Zimbabwe failed to keep the momentum that they gained after the 16th over. Still, their death bowling was much better today. Ireland appeared to be losing their way but 22 from the last two overs and they have finished on a score which is 4 less than what they got on Wednesday.

We are set for the game to begin! Zimbabwe players are in a huddle before they stride out to the middle. Ireland openers, Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien are at the crease! Blessing Muzarabani to start with the ball. Here we go...

Ireland (Playing XI) - Paul Stirling, Kevin O'Brien, Andy Balbirnie (C), George Dockrell, William McClintock, Shane Getkate, Neil Rock (WK), Simi Singh, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy (In for Josh Little), Craig Young (In for Benjamin White).

Zimbabwe (Playing XI) - Wesley Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Regis Chakabva (WK), Dion Myers, Craig Ervine (C), Milton Shumba, Donald Tiripano (In for Ryan Burl), Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani (In for Tendai Chatara), Richard Ngarava.

Toss - The two captains are out in the middle. Andy Balbirnie has the coin and he gives it a good toss but it comes down in favour of his counterpart. ZIMBABWE ELECT TO FIELD! They have one forced change with Donald Tiripano replacing Ryan Burl. Also, Blessing Muzarabani is in the XI, replacing Tendai Chatara. Ireland have made a couple of changes as well - Barry McCarthy and Craig Young return in the XI and Benjamin White and Josh Little miss out.

There is a slight delay in toss as one of the Zimbabwean players has gone down during the warm-up drills. It's Ryan Burl who has sprained his ankle and will miss this match.

Weather - The conditions are pretty much overcast at the moment but there is no real threat of rain on this game if the radar is to be trusted. The players are going through their warm-up drills at the moment and we are moments away from the all-important toss. Stay tuned.

Ireland, on the other hand, would be aiming to win this fixture and seal the five-match series. The result of the first match was a good wake-up call for them and they've responded in the best way possible. Will we witness another Paul Stirling special in this game? Or will Zimbabwe come storming back into the series? We'll find that out soon. Stay tuned for toss and further updates.

Hello and a very warm welcome to the coverage of the 4th T20I between Ireland and Zimbabwe. The series is on the line with Zimbabwe having won the first game and then Ireland making a grand comeback to win back-to-back matches and eventually going 2-1 up in the series, courtesy of an unbeaten hundred by their veteran, Paul Stirling. Zimbabwe would be keen to win this match and save the series by putting in a better performance. They have lacked consistency both with the bat and ball in the series so far and they would certainly need a complete team performance if they are to win this game and keep the series alive.
