Right then! That is it from this game! The second match of Super Saturday between Hyderabad and Bangalore is already underway. So, switch the tabs and join us there. But from here, it is a goodbye!

Rashid Khan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his two wickets that turned the tide back in Gujarat's favour.

The Presentation ceremony...

Gujarat will thank their bowlers for the performance they put on as a unit today and got their team over the line. Mohammad Shami and Yash Dayal were brilliant in the Powerplay picking up three wickets and Lockie Ferguson too got an early wicket. Once they were able to get that fifth wicket, the match was in their control but it got real edgy in the death overs but as usual their talisman, Rashid Khan picked up a couple of wickets and Yash Dayal and Alzarri Joseph finished off proceedings very well. Gujarat just seem to find some magic when needed the most.

Kolkata will be kicking themselves at the moment because their bowlers had given them the platform to go and win this match but it was a horrendous start with the bat that has been the fatal blow for them. In the middle overs, it was the pair of Rinku Singh and Venkatesh Iyer that got Kolkata back into the game but wickets kept on tumbling and Venkatesh Iyer ended up giving his wicket away when things looked to be in control. It was just too much to do for Andre Russell who gave it his all but just couldn't get his team over the line.

Wow! What a ripper of a match we have witnessed here! Just like last night, another West Indian bowler, Alzarri Joseph this time keeps his calm in the final over and gets the job done for his team. Gujarat edge Kolkata to get their sixth win of the season and they are now back on the top of the table.

Commentary

We are back for the chase. The players are out in the middle. Sam Billings and Sunil Narine are the openers for Kolkata. Mohammad Shami to start with the ball.

... The Chase...

Now the target is not a big one but the wicket is a little sticky. Kolkata will back themselves to chase it down but Gujarat won’t make it easy for them. Join us for the chase in a bit.

Andre Russell is up for a quick chat. He says that it was similar to a match from last year against Chennai where he got five wickets. He adds that they wanted to keep it under 160 and is happy to get the wickets at the death. Mentions that the wicket is gripping a bit and the variations are going to come in handy. Also adds that they just need to start well with the bat and will be able to pick up two points here.

In the batting, Gujarat did well for most parts courtesy of Hardik Pandya, he played well with Saha first and then with Miller. However, Miller and Pandya both fell in quick succession and from then on, runs did not flow. Have to say Gujarat are probably 20 short of where it would have liked to be.

Tim Southee was brilliant with the ball. His comeback was really good. Sunil Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy did not have the best of games. They leaked runs in the middle overs but Kolkata courtesy, Mavi, who impressed in the death, Southee and Russell who bowled a magical last over have kept Gujarat well and truly intact.

That is a brilliant finish for Kolkata and they will surely be happier of the two sides heading into the break. At one stage when Pandya and Miller were batting, 180 seemed possible but they have fallen well short of that.

OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Unbelievable! Andre Russell bowls just the one over, the final over and picks up four wickets! Very full, angled into leg stump. Yash Dayal backs away a bit, looking to drive it straight but the ball comes off the toe end of the bat and straight back at Dre Russ who makes no mistake and Gujarat end with 156/9!

The third umpire is checking if that is a bump ball but the replay shows it came off the bat. Andre Russell gets another wicket.

Yash Dayal comes in.

19.5W

OUT! TAKEN! Andre Russell gets his third wicket of the over and guess who takes that catch? Rinku Singh that's who! Russell takes the pace off and bowls it on a length around off. Rahul Tewatia steps down the track and slashes it flat towards the backward point fence. Singh takes another sharp catch and Kolkata ending on a real high here.

19.44

FOUR! A welcome boundary for Gujarat here. Good-length, pushed outside off. Tewatia walks towards the ball and drags the pull short into the mid-wicket fence.

19.31

No hat-trick! Full and straight, Alzarri Joseph walks across the stumps and gets some bat on it. Single taken.

Alzarri Joseph will face the Hat trick ball.

19.2W

OUT! CAUGHT! Well, the ball seems to be following Rinku Singh and he takes yet another fantastic catch. Slower bumper from Andre Russell and Lockie Ferguson takes it on. Ferguson hits it hard and flat towards the mid-wicket fence. Singh judges it well and takes a sharp catch just inside the ropes. Out of nowhere, Russell is on a hat-trick!

Lockie Ferguson walks out to the middle.

19.1W

OUT! TAKEN! Rinku Singh takes another fine catch and Andre Russell picks up a wicket off his very first delivery. Starts off with a slower length ball on middle. Abhinav Manohar is forced to hit it towards the big side of the ground and gets no sort of timing on it. The ball gets skied around the mid-wicket region and Singh makes no mistake.

We are ready for play! The umpires make their way out to the middle, followed by the Kolkata players. The openers for Gujarat, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha also stride out to the middle and take guard. Umesh Yadav has the new ball in hand and is ready to steam in. Let's play...

Tim Southee is up for a quick chat. He says as a bowler there are plenty of opportunities to bowl in the nets and be ready for whenever the chance comes. Adds that balance of overseas players and Indian players is important. Mentions that they let the last match slip away but it's a long tournament and hopefully they do get the win here.

So, Gujarat become the first team to bat first after winning the toss this season.

Shreyas Iyer, the skipper of Kolkata, says they would have batted first as the last game was bit draining fielding first. Adds that the spirit is high, haven't played that badly but they have rectified the issue and it is just a matter of changing the momentum. Informs that there are three changes.

Hardik Pandya, the skipper of Gujarat, says that they will bat first. Adds that he is absolutely fine and it was just a precautionary measure to have a bit more rest. Mentions that they will bat first just to see how the wicket behaves. Informs that there is only one change in the side as he himself comes in for Vijay Shankar.

Kolkata (Playing XI) - Sunil Narine, Sam Billings (WK) (In for Aaron Finch), Shreyas Iyer (C), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Rinku Singh (In for Sheldon Jackson), Tim Southee (In for Pat Cummins).

Gujarat (Playing XI) - Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya (C) (In for Vijay Shankar), Abhinav Manohar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammad Shami, Yash Dayal.

TOSS - Gujarat have won the toss and they have elected to BAT first!

PITCH REPORT - Nick Knight is pitchside. Knight mentions that this is the fourth time this pitch is being used. Mentions that there's a good covering of grass and pacers will enjoy but there are a few more cracks which will help the spinners a bit. Also mentions that Kolkata have lost most wickets against spinners and Rashid Khan will play a key role. He ends by saying that the team winning the toss should bat first.

Gujarat on the other hand, have been brilliant, they even managed to win the previous game without their skipper Pandya. They are filled with match winners and someone or the other manages to step up when needed. Can they make it another win?

Kolkata began well but have not been at their best in the last few games. Especially their bowling which has really taken a pounding. If they are to turn it around, they need the likes of Cummins and Varun Chakaravarthy to step up. Their batting will also be put to the test here against a quality bowling attack.

Super Saturday it is! There are two games coming your way and we welcome you to the coverage of the first, a clash between Gujarat and Kolkata. One team is at the higher end of the table and the other is at the 7th spot. This game is a very important one for Kolkata but they’ll need to be at their best against a high-flying Gujarat side. Can they get the better of them?

...Match Day...
