Right then! That is it from the coverage of this game! The action from Indian T20 League continues on Friday, 8th April 2022 and it will be Punjab taking on Gujarat at the Brabourne Stadium. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). But as you know, our build-up will begin much earlier. Do join us for the same. Till then, cheers and goodbye!

Quinton de Kock is in for a chat. He wins the MAN OF THE MATCH award for his exceptional hitting with the blade. He says that he aims to keep playing in the same manner, be it any bowler. Mentions, they focused on getting a solid start and they made sure to do that. Adds that Shaw did make it look easy with the blade. Says, the wicket was slow, the slower balls were gripping, but he is glad he worked through it really well.

KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow, says that they were brilliant with the ball. Adds their bowlers need to get better in the Powerplay. Tells that they like knowing what to chase. Says that dew factor does play on the minds of the teams and every team likes to chase. Although, one cannot expect anything about the dew prior to the match. Applauds Ayush Badoni by saying that he has held his nerves in crunch situations and showed a lot of maturity. Signs off by saying that it has been a great team effort so far.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says that when the dew is such they cannot do anything about it. He feels that they fell short by 10-15 runs in the end. Adds, the Powerplay was decent but they could not pick up any wickets. Mentions, the spinners did well in the middle overs and yet again stresses on being short by 10 runs or so with the bat.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

Ravi Bishnoi is up for a quick chat. He says, he always believed in the depth of their batting department. Mentions, the match turned out to be a nail-biter and the atmosphere was super tense in the end. Adds, Narendra Hirwani helps him a lot with his bowling.

Delhi didn't start well with the ball and it was their premier pacer Anrich Nortje who was taken to the cleaners by his fellow South African. Quinton de Kock. The spin duo of Lalit Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav kept things tight in the middle overs and both of them got into the wickets column. Apart from Nortje, every other bowler had their moments in the game and Delhi's bowlers executed their wide yorkers to perfection in the last 5 overs. However, in the end, they would feel that they were certainly 10-15 runs short with the bat.

Lucknow got off to a great start and the opening stand between KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock put pressure on the Delhi bowlers upfront. It was Quinton de Kock who was the aggressor, while the skipper played the second fiddle. Once Rahul perished, Lucknow lost a bit of momentum and they lost wickets at regular intervals. Apart from QDK, every other batter struggled to time the ball cleanly but then came the pocket-sized dynamo, Ayush Badoni who ensured that are no more hiccups and took his side over the line.

Whoaaa! What a thriller of a game it turned out to be in the end! Lucknow was cruising along nicely at one point but things did get a little spicy in the end. Although, it was the impressive, young Ayush Badoni who held his nerves and made sure that he takes his side over the line. Credit to Delhi's bowlers for fighting till the very end, in spite of dew playing a major part in the second innings.

Commentary

We are back for the chase. Delhi players stride out to the middle. Followed by KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock who walk out to open for Lucknow. Mustafizur Rahman to start the proceedings with the new ball. Here we go...

... The Run Chase ...

Right then. 150 is what Lucknow need to extend their winning run in this campaign. It gets more interesting as KL Rahul was seen busy with the towel at the fag end of the innings. So the dew is in play, can Lucknow make the most of it? Delhi will give it their all, but they will surely have a hard time in the field. An enticing chase coming up shortly. Do not go anywhere.

Krishnappa Gowtham is in for a chat. He says he feels good to be back in the Indian T20 League. Adds that it is all about mixing your pace on a pitch like this. Tells that there were a bit of jitters at the start for him as he was playing after a very long time. Mentions that bowling tight and straight lines is very important on this track.

The Lucknow bowlers were blown off by the sheer attacking play of Prithvi Shaw, as Delhi had racked up 67 runs in 7.2 overs. But the spinners rose to the challenge and got their side back in the contest. Gowtham got ride of Shaw, while Bishnoi struck twice to put Delhi in a precarious position. Later, the spin twins managed to put a lid over the run rate by not letting Pant free his arms. Lucknow's bowlers were excellent in the death overs.

Delhi could not counterpunch in the middle overs. Prithvi Shaw was on the attack from the word go. His valiant knock also gave not much but enough time for Warner to get familiar with the conditions from the other end. David Warner though could not make the most of it, as his arch-nemesis Ravi Bishnoi got the better of him for the third time in the Indian T20 League. Rovman Powell followed suit. Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan kept the runs ticking by picking up singles, but in the final 5 overs, Pant picked up the pace of his innings and smacked 18 runs in the 16th over. The pair though could not go all-out in the final two overs and hence were left with a below par first innings score on this wicket.

Lucknow gave away only 13 runs in the final two overs. They have restricted Delhi to 149 and will be very satisfied as they head towards the pavilion. Delhi would be really gutted with their approach after a solid start.

A low full toss, outside off. Quinton de Kock works it towards deep cover and manages only a run.

Rishabh Pant looks to be in some pain. He got a knock on his thumb off the throw from the deep. The physio comes in to have a look at it. They will hope to pick wickets at regular intervals to not let the game slip away. Lucknow, on the flip side, have ample wickets in hand to chase down more 49 runs. Stick around to find out who gets over the finish line.
