That's it from this game. But don't go too far away as the match between Chennai and Rajasthan will get underway soon at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT). Switch tabs and do join us for all the action. Cheers!

For his outstanding bowling, Axar Patel has been given the Man of the Match award. He picked up the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary, and Mumbai never recovered after those blows.

It was not the easiest of pitches for Mumbai and their batting struggled to come to terms with the slow nature of the surface. Credit should be given to Delhi's outstanding bowling here. They utilized the conditions to their advantage and the variations from their bowlers were too clever to handle. Once again Avesh Khan was impressive with his 3-wicket haul but it was Axar Patel who picked three wickets at the top to break the back of Mumbai's batting.

Sharjah dished out yet another engrossing game. 129 was never going to be enough but Mumbai tried their best. They picked three wickets in the Powerplay but Delhi managed to keep the scoring rate on the track. The plan from Delhi was to keep playing attacking shots and bring down the required rate. Rishabh Pant got out trying to do that and Delhi were in a spot of bother at one stage. However, Shreyas Iyer's presence made sure that they were never behind the 8-ball. He batted as per the demands of the chase and didn't attempt anything rash. Eventually, he got an able partner in Ravichandran Ashwin and together, they stitched in a match-winning stand of 39 runs.

A hard-fought win for Delhi and they have achieved their 9th victory of the season. Delhi have also completed a league double over the defending champions and continue to impress. For Mumbai, they have failed to break the 10-point deadlock and stay 6th on the table. It's going to be tough for them from here on.

SIX! WOW! What a way to win the game for your side. Ashwin does not want to waste time taking singles, he just smacks one out of the park and wins the game. Fuller, tossed up, around middle and off, Ravichandran Ashwin gets low, mows a cracking slog-sweep and thwacks it flat and over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. DELHI WIN BY 4 WICKETS!

Team meeting for Mumbai. Who will bowl the final over? Kieron Pollard or Krunal Pandya? Rohit has decided to go with the spinner.

18.51

Fullish, on the pads, whipped to deep square leg for one.

18.42

OVERTHROWS! From the skipper, Rohit Sharma too. Not what Mumbai needed. A direct hit would have sent Ashwin back but instead, it has cost Mumbai a few runs. Around middle and leg, slower in pace and it has some extra bounce, Iyer is taken by surprise and chips this one towards covers where Rohit collects it on the bounce. He has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. There is no one backing up and the batters are able to pick up a couple.

18.31

A low full toss around off, Ashwin works this to the left of Hardik at mid-wicket, who half-stops this. One run.

18.22

Sliced away! Fuller in length and around off, Ravichandran Ashwin gives the charge and goes hard at it. Ends up slicing it behind backward point. Saurabh Tiwary runs across to his right from third man and boots it out at the last moment. The batters take two and Saurabh seems to have hurt himself.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The Mumbai players are in a huddle before they take their respective positions on the field. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan are the openers for Delhi. Trent Boult will start with the ball for Mumbai. Can he strike in the first over?

... RUN CHASE ...

Right then! 130 to win for Delhi! They will back themselves to chase this down but Mumbai have an excellent bowling line-up and they won't make it easy for Delhi. An exciting run chase coming up. Do join us for that on the other side.

Anrich Nortje is up for a chat. The South African speedster says that the pitch was slower than they expected and they had to adjust quickly. Feels that they bowled very well, Avesh especially and they varied the pace well. Tells that he is trying to work hard to hit the top of off. Regarding Pollard's dismissal, Nortje replies that it was just another slower one and he didn't expect that to go onto the stumps. Praises Avesh Khan and says that he has been so impressive and getting wickets in every game. He is very happy for him. Feels that they just need to play out the middle overs well and getting a good start is important. Hopes to get a good start and some sort of momentum in the chase.

Mumbai will be disappointed with how things panned out! Rohit Sharma did not get going while de Kock looked good but could not last for long. Suryakumar Yadav looked like he was getting back to form as he played some lovely shots but he fell at the wrong time. Kieron Pollard did not do much and Hardik Pandya didn't contribute much either. If not for Jayant Yadav's cameo and Krunal Pandya's last-ball six, they would have ended up below 120.

Delhi were at the top of their game with the ball as they started off brilliantly. They got rid of Rohit Sharma early and kept on chipping wickets regularly. Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers, picking up three wickets. But credit has to go to Avesh Khan and Anrich Nortje as well. They bowled superbly and they used the slower balls to perfection and they reduced Mumbai to just 129 on the board. Avesh Khan continues to impress in this tournament and his delivery to dismiss Hardik Pandya was a sight to behold. Brilliant performance once again from the youngster.

A six to end the innings but it has been an amazing bowling performance from Delhi here in Sharjah! Yes, the pitch is a little slow but to reduce a batting line-up like Mumbai to a below-par score is not easy and Delhi have just done that. Mumbai, on the other hand, will be disappointed with how things panned out and they would need a brilliant bowling performance to defend this total.

SIX! Krunal Pandya connects with one! Slower through the air again, fuller, around off, Krunal Pandya latches onto it and bangs this one behind the bowler for a biggie. MUMBAI END ON 129/8!

19.50

Another dot! Flatter, quicker, around middle and leg, Pandya looks to go down and smack this to the leg side but it takes his pads and rolls to Pant.

19.40

Slower through the air, outside off, Pandya slaps this one down the ground to long off but denies the single.

19.31

Bumrah does what was needed as he rotates the strike! Flatter, on off, Bumrah taps it down on the deck and they scamper through for the single.

Jasprit Bumrah is the next man in.

19.2W

OUT! TAKEN! Easily done and Yadav's short burst has come to an end. He has done what was needed from him though. This one was fuller, but wider outside off, Jayant Yadav looks to lift this one over extra cover but mistimes it. Steven Smith, who was present there inside the ring, times his jump to perfection and gobbles this one up.

19.16

SIX! What a way to start the over! Mumbai needed this! Tossed up, fuller, around middle and off, Jayant Yadav gets low and smokes this one high and handsome over the long on fence.

Ravichandran Ashwin will bowl the final over.

18.54

FOUR! Against the run of play, Mumbai get a boundary! Around off, in the slot, on a length, Jayant Yadav smacks this one over the bowler for a one-bounce boundary.

Jayant Yadav is the next man in.

18.4W

OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Another one for him. This man is on fire and he continues to impress. It is such a crucial juncture in the game but nothing can unnerve Khan. His third wicket. A pacy delivery this time, around off, on a length at 140 kph, Nathan Coulter-Nile looks to whack this across the line but fails to connect. The ball crashes into the off pole. Delhi are closing things out well.

18.31

Short of a length, on the pads, Pandya pulls this to short fine leg for one.

18.21

Looks for another yorker, but only manages a full toss, around off, Nathan Coulter-Nile knocks this one through mid on for one.

Nathan Coulter-Nile makes his way out to the middle.

18.1W

OUT! TIMBER! OHHHHH! What a cracking delivery and Khan gets rid of the dangerous man. There was nothing that Hardik Pandya could do about that. Khan runs in and spears a laser-guided yorker, around middle and leg, at 141.3 clicks. Hardik Pandya looks to whip it but he misses. He hears the death rattle behind him. Khan gets his second of the game and starts his last over very well!

A dot to end an amazing spell for Nortje! He ends with figures of 4-1-19-1. Superb. Slower, on a length, outside off, a swing of the blade from the older Pandya, but he fails to connect.

17.51

Around off, short in length, pulled to the right of Iyer at deep mid-wicket for a run.

17.40

That's a good comeback from the Saffa! A wide yorker outside off, HP looks to dig it out but misses.

17.34

FOUR! The second boundary of the over. It looks like Hardik has decided to take on Nortje here. Shorter this time, around off, Hardik Pandya powers this one towards the deep square leg region. Shreyas Iyer runs to his right, slides, but fails to stop the ball from touching the ropes.

17.20

Fuller again, pacy, on off, Hardik digs this one out back to Anrich.

17.14

FOUR! Nortje starts with a slower ball this time but Hardik Pandya had anticipated that well. Fuller in length, around off, HP waits for it and then tonks it over the bowler for a boundary.

A hard-fought win for Delhi and they have achieved their 9th victory of the season. Delhi have also completed a league double over the defending champions and continue to impress. Strategic Time-Out! This game is turning out to be an exciting one! Delhi need 37 more runs and they have 7 overs left. The problem is the wickets column. They have lost 5 but they still have Shreyas Iyer and Shimron Hetmyer in the middle. Delhi would now look to bat sensibly and get to the total. Mumbai, on the other hand, not only need to take wickets but also need to stem the run-flow. Can Mumbai defend the score from here?

Feels that you need wickets to stay in the game. He is relieved to get Pant's wicket before the Time-Out. Mentions that Shreyas Iyer is the key for them and if they get his wicket, there will be more pressure on the lower order of Delhi. Regarding any plans for Shreyas, Zaheer says that they just need to make use of the conditions and work with the pitch and figure out the right areas. Tells that the ball is not coming onto the bat and they will be trying to bowl the wicket-to-wicket line. On Mumbai's poor performance, Zaheer replies that the conditions have also played a role and their middle order didn't get going and that put them under pressure. Shares that this team is used to handling pressure. Wants his boys to keep the energy up and keep the belief. Shares that in the dressing room they have talked about keeping things simple. Smiles and says that the equation is simple for them, win every game and everyone knows where they are on the table. Regarding the importance of the match-ups, Zaheer says that it's very important and they spend enough time to figure out their plans. Praises the whole group which is very supportive and tells that the players work on their own as well. Feels that an off spinner against Shreyas is a good match-up.

An appeal for run out taken upstairs. It seems that Hetmyer is in and he is, as confirmed by the replays.

11.52

NOT OUT! Shimron Hetmyer gets off the mark with a couple! A fullish ball, on the pads, Hetmyer clips this one off his pads to the right of fine leg. They take one run and want another. The fielder throws the ball to Quinton de Kock who collects and whips the bails off. The TV umpire has a look and the replays show that Hetmyer was well in. Two, in the end.

Shimron Hetmyer comes out now.

Axar Patel has been given out LBW! He takes the review but it looks out. There is nothing on UltraEdge and the Ball Tracker shows that it is the umpire's call on hitting the stumps.

OUT! LBW! The bowling change does the trick and Boult strikes. The review does not save Axar too. Short of a length this time, around off and middle, Patel looks to work this to the leg side but he misses and gets thudded on his thigh pad. An appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Patel looks at his partner and then goes for the review. UltraEdge shows that there was no bat involved in this. Ball Tracker shows that it's the umpire's call on hitting the stumps. This will remain out and Delhi retain their review. Patel walks back and half the side back into the shed now. 53 needed in 50 balls.

Short of a length, angling away around off, Shreyas Iyer steers this one to third man and rotates the strike.

Strategic Time-Out! A wicket in the 9th over has prompted the umpires to take the Time-Out! Mumbai have done really well in the chase so far. They are not making it easy for Delhi at all and have taken 4 wickets already. They would now look to continue with the same intensity and put pressure on the lower middle order of Delhi. For Delhi, Shreyas Iyer is the key. The required run rate is not too high so they can afford to bat sensibly. What will happen? Axar Patel has come ahead of Shimron Hetmyer.

8.2W

OUT! TAKEN! This is the big wicket that Mumbai wanted. Pant was trying to be funky, trying to get boundaries in every over but that attacking intent from him proves to be his undoing.

The head coach of Delhi, Ricky Ponting has a quick chat from the dugout. The Aussie starts by saying that it's pretty even at the moment and feels that it will be hard to score once the ball becomes soft. Tells that Marcus Stoinis is missing in action and that throws their balance out a bit. Mentions that they are trying to be smart with their selections. Feels that Avesh Khan is one of the most improved bowlers in this tournament. Says that it's an enjoyable squad with a good blend of youth and experience and a nice blend of Indian and overseas players too. Ricky says that they are always looking for areas to improve. States that the conditions here are slow and low and you have to keep yourself in the game. Adds that you have to wait for one mistake to happen, knowing that it's not going to be easy for the new batter. On their last loss, Ponting replies that it's a hard tournament and you need to ride the ups and downs. He wants to make sure that they move on quickly from that loss.

We are done with the pre-match formalities and match number 46 is all set to begin! The Delhi players make their way out to the middle and take their respective positions on the field. Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock are the openers for Mumbai. Anrich Nortje will start with the ball.

Mumbai (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Quinton de Kock (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jayant Yadav (In place of Rahul Chahar), Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult.

Delhi (Playing XI) - Prithvi Shaw (In place of Lalit Yadav), Shikhar Dhawan, Steven Smith, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (WK/C), Shimron Hetmyer, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan, Anrich Nortje.

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai skipper, says that he was in two minds about what to do. Tells that the teams have lost batting first and lost chasing also, so it all depends on how you play. Mentions that they have quality in their bowling and they will look to bat well and get to the par score. Says that they know where they stand on the table but it is crucial for them to focus on what they have in their hand. Feels that it's just about everyone coming in collectively and performing. Informs that they have one change as Jayant Yadav comes in place of Rahul Chahar.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi, feels that it's a better option to chase over here. Tells that they have qualified but the hunger never stops. Mentions that keeping wickets in hand is the key. Shares that they are going to take one match at a time and they want to win each and every game. Informs that they have made one change as Lalit Yadav goes out and Prithvi Shaw comes in.

Toss time! Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant have arrived in the middle. Rohit flips the coin, Pant calls correctly and DELHI WILL BOWL FIRST!

Expected changes! Sam Billings has completed his quarantine and is available for selection. It would be interesting to see whether Delhi opt for his services in place of Steven Smith who can score runs but not at the desired rate. For Mumbai, they can bet on Jayant Yadav as Delhi have quite a few left-handers in their ranks and the off spinner can play a handy role in stifling them. Ishan Kishan could return in the XI too in place of Suryakumar Yadav who seems to be going through a lean patch. These are all possibilities and the picture will get clear only at the toss.

Pitch report - Ian Bishop and Matthew Hayden are down there inspecting the conditions. The West Indian starts by saying that it feels like having a sauna out there. Informs that the pitch to be used for this match is at the edge of the square and it's a slightly shorter boundary on one side. Bishop shares that the highest total is 156 in this season and it is not as high as it was last year. Hayden joins in and says that apart from the temperature, the batting tempo on this pitch will be vital. Tells that there is no pace on this surface, compared to the other venues. The Aussie feels that it's going to be challenging to hit to the biggest side of the ground. Bishop has the final word and says that the bowlers would also have to find the right length.

Last meeting - A 4-wicket haul for Amit Mishra restricted Mumbai to just 137 and Delhi put up a clinical chase to secure two points. The leggie is not around now but Delhi still own a great variety in their bowling attack. Can Mumbai prevail this time?

The stakes may be high for Mumbai but Delhi don't have any such scenarios to deal with. But that doesn't mean they will take this game lightly. Qualifying for the playoffs is one thing but finishing in the top two is more desirable. Delhi's aim will be to be there in Qualifier 1 to have a second bite at the cherry if something goes wrong. Also, Delhi would love to score a league double over the defending champions who beat them four times last season, including the finale. Expect Delhi to bring out their best in this game.

Mumbai are back in familiar territory. They've earned this tag of being the 'Comeback Kings' for a reason. Mumbai have made this a habit to start poorly and then they peak at the business end of the tournament. The team from the city of Bollywood offers all the drama and excitement to its fans and treats them with a pulsating climax. Not many would complain now as Mumbai have proved their credentials by winning the League five times and all you need to do is to have faith in them. Right now, Mumbai's destiny is in their own hands. Three games left for them and by winning all three, they can smoothly qualify for the playoffs. But a hiccup this afternoon would throw them back in the mix of hopefuls. Plenty riding on this match.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen! It's time to make your weekend special! Saturday has arrived, loaded with a couple of matches and we have gathered here for the face-off between two metropolitan cities - Mumbai and Delhi. The latter is already in the playoffs now after Punjab's win last evening whereas the former is caught in the mad race for qualification. It's a very critical game for the reigning champions and we are expecting them to come out all guns blazing this afternoon.

... MATCH DAY ...
