That's a wrap to this game. We look forward to your company on Wednesday for a couple of Group A matches - Namibia vs Netherlands at 2 pm local (10 am GMT) and Sri Lanka vs Ireland at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT). Also, the top 8 teams will be playing their second warm-up game - India vs Australia, England vs New Zealand at 2 pm local (10 am GMT) and at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT), Afghanistan will meet West Indies and Pakistan will face South Africa. Plenty of excitement in store. Don't forget to join us. Cheers!

Mahmudullah, the victorious skipper of Bangladesh, says that they will take this win but there are a lot of areas they need to improve. Hopes that everyone is happy and thanks the crowd for coming and supporting. Adds that Oman were in the hunt initially. He praises the stand between Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Naim but also admits that they were not up to the mark with the new ball. Feels they need to address that area. Thinks that the bowling in the death overs has been doing good and Bangladesh will have to show improvement with both bat and ball in the first six overs.

Zeeshan Maqsood, the captain of Oman, says that it was a chaseable task after the way they started. Feels that in the last 5-6 overs, they didn't bat well and lost too many wickets. Credits the Bangla bowlers for the way they bowled. Tells that it was not a big margin in the last 5 overs and it's up to the players to get the job done. Adds that there was no crowd pressure and in fact, that was a confidence booster for them. Says that it's cricket and they will try to bounce back and make the home crowd happy. Mentions that they have to see where they went wrong and track that.

SHAKIB AL HASAN IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He says that losing to Scotland hurt the whole team but credits the way the Scots played. Adds that Scotland showed a lot of confidence and he feels that Bangladesh let the game slip away in the first game. Says that the team talk was slightly tough and they wanted to come back stronger. Praises Oman and reckons that they were in the game but feels that Bangladesh's experience played a part. On Oman, Shakib feels that they were in the game for 15 overs and they played with a lot of heart. Tells that Bangladesh have another game that they need to win and they want to beat Papua New Guinea and see what happens.

Presentation time...

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh's decision to bat first didn't turn out to be too fruitful. Barring the knocks of Mohammad Naim and Shakib Al Hasan and their 80-run association, there wasn't much in their batting. Mahmudullah played a little cameo to push their score beyond the 150-run mark but it wasn't the kind of performance Bangladesh would have expected. Oman were brilliant with the ball with Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt bagging three wickets apiece but they were below-par in the field and dropped quite a few catches. In hindsight, that cost them 20-25 runs extra and proved to be their undoing.

To start with, Bangladesh were clumsy in the field. Oman started positively and they were assisted by a few dropped catches. Jatinder Singh was the focal point of Oman's batting and his knock along with a couple of partnerships constructed by him laid a good platform for the hosts. At the halfway mark, they needed 84 runs off 60 balls with 8 wickets in the bag. The equation narrowed down to 64 required off 42 balls when Jatinder Singh was dismissed by Shakib Al Hasan but from there on Bangladesh did well to tighten the noose. Mahedi Hasan's four overs of gold in which he gave away just 14 runs completely squeezed the life out of this chase and Oman eventually surrendered.

Victory for Bangladesh and they stay alive in the tournament! They were given a real scare by Oman in the first 10 overs but eventually, the home team's lack of experience in taking advantage of a good position cost them. Still, you have to praise Oman for putting up a fight against a better team.

Commentary

The chase is set to begin. The Bangladesh players are seen to be in a huddle. They are getting some parting words from Shakib Al Hasan. They are followed by the opening pair of Jatinder Singh and Aqib Ilyas, who walk out to bat for Oman. Taskin Ahmed to start with the ball.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then. 154 is what Oman need to win and confirm their place in the Super 12 and with the backing of the home crowd, they will be pumped and excited to come out and chase this down. Bangladesh need a win to stay alive and they have the bowling attack required to defend this total. Will they be able to do so though? We shall find out. Stay tuned for Oman's reply.

Fayyaz Butt (4-0-30-3) is up for a chat. The pacer says that it is a very big thing for him and his team also to make a debut in this tournament. Regarding his first wicket, Butt replies that he bowled three good-length deliveries, all slower ones and then bowled with extra pace to dismiss the batsman. Tells that he admires Imran Khan and Brett Lee a lot, and they are legends. Shares that he played Under-19 World Cup for Pakistan and at that time, his action was different.

A good bowling display from the hosts, but they know that they could have done slightly better, especially out on the field, as they dropped a bucketload of catches, which they would hope does not come back to haunt them. The start by them was top-notch, but they found it hard to break the stand between Naim and Shakib. Once that stand was dismantled, they bounced back well towards the end. Bilal Khan had a fruitful evening as both his spells, at the start and the end, were fearsome and he ended with figures of 4-0-18-3. Fayyaz Butt led the charge as he ended with 3 to his name and Kaleemullah reaped rewards too with his 2 scalps.

This batting display of Bangladesh was only about 2 batters and nobody else. Yes, Mahmudullah did well towards the end by getting a few handy runs, but if not for the knocks by Mohammad Naim and Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangla Tigers would have been staring down the barrel. They started off poorly as they could only conjure 29 runs, losing 2 wickets, in the Powerplay. Then, came the stand of substance between Naim and Shakib of 80 runs, which helped the Tigers get the push. Lady luck smiled on them as Oman dropped a few catches too. Once this stand was broken, Bangladesh fell from 101/2 to 122/6. After that, the Bangla skipper hit a couple of boundaries but they never found the final burst.

Oman will definitely be the happier of the two sides at the halfway stage of this game, but, had they stopped Bangladesh to a total of around 20 runs lesser, then the game would be in their grasp. Their counterparts though, with the exception of a couple of batters, never got going and have ended on a decent total of 153.

OUT! Bangladesh are all out on the final ball! Bilal Khan delivers it full and on middle, Mustafizur Rahman hops back to make room for a big shot but only manages to tower it high in the air towards mid off. Zeeshan Maqsood gets underneath it, keeps his eyes on the ball and takes the skier safely. Bangladesh have got 153 on the board.

19.52

Very full and in the line of the stumps, Mustafizur Rahman digs it out from the inner half of his bat and it squirts behind square leg. The batsmen get two.

19.40

Short and around off, Mustafizur Rahman steps back and then tries to play a late cut but fails to connect.

19.3W

OUT! STUMPS SHATTERED! Bilal Khan switches to 'round the wicket and spears in a very full ball around off at 129 kph, Mahmudullah stays back to swing his bat at it but fails to connect. The ball goes behind to peg the off stump back. Bilal has two in the match, can Oman get Bangladesh all out?

19.21

Well stopped at extra cover by Zeeshan Maqsood! Fuller and around off, Taskin drives it through the line but fails to get it past the Oman skipper. They cross for a run and Mahmudullah is back on strike.

FOUR! That fumble from the keeper has cost his team a boundary in the end. Short and outside off, Mahmudullah camps back and steers it through the gap between short third man and backward point. 6 balls left, how many more can Bangladesh add to their total?

18.51b

Sharp one, short and around off, Taskin Ahmed tries to pull but misses. The keeper fumbles and concedes a bye.

Bilal Khan (3-0-15-1) to bowl the final over of the innings!

18.41

Short and wide, outside off, change in pace again, Mahmudullah chops his attempted square cut, towards short third man, and takes a single.

18.32

On a length around middle and leg, Mahmudullah clips it behind square leg and the ball races away. The fielder in the deep does well to pull it back before the fence and after consulting the third umpire, the onfield umpire is happy with the fielding effort. Two runs added to the total.

18.2W

OUT! Fayyaz Butt has two in two and Bangladesh are falling apart at the death. Once again it's a short delivery, slower in pace and around off, Mohammad Saifuddin steps back and tries to slap it through the line. But it takes the top half of his blade and flies down to Jatinder Singh at long off. He celebrates yet another catch by doing a thigh-five! Fayyaz Butt on a hat-trick...

Taskin Ahmed is in!

18.1W

OUT! Caught behind! Second wicket in the match for Butt and he thanks his stars. He hurls across a short delivery outside off slower in pace, Rahim goes on his toes to play his little dab shot down to third man but the ball bounces a bit extra to take the outside edge. Naseem Khushi makes no mistake and Bangladesh lose another wicket.

Who walks in? Mohammad Saifuddin.

18.11wd

Wide! Fayyaz Butt tries to bowl a slower one but delivers it way wide outside off, Rahim lets it go and the umpire stretches his arms.

Fuller and around off, Rahim drives it to extra cover and scoots to the other end as the fielder misses his shy at the bowler's end. 10 from the over! Can Bangladesh get to 160 from here?

17.51

Slower one, short and around off, Mahmudullah pulls it away to deep mid-wicket for a single.

17.46

SIX! Mahmudullah has thumped this one! Bangladesh need many more of these shots. Back of a length, on middle and leg, the Bangla skipper rides the bounce and muscles it behind square leg for a biggie. 75m on the radar. The ball is to be sanitized and hence there is a slight delay.

17.31

Oman won't mind singles at this stage. Short in length and outside off, slower in pace, Rahim moves back and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for one.

17.21

Very full and around off, a bit of wristwork from Mahmudullah as he flicks it through square leg for a single.

17.10

Swing and a miss! Mohammad Nadeem delivers it on a length and outside off, Mahmudullah steps down the track, a premeditated charge, swings his bat at it but fails to connect.

Taskin Ahmed is done for the night. Shakib Al Hasan comes back on.

15.52

Slower, short ball, around off. Khushi does not connect this well. He hangs back and pulls it towards deep square leg off the inner half. The batters take two runs.

15.40

Mohammad Saifuddin has been brilliant with the ball. He fires in a yorker, in the blockhole. Khushi stays back and defends it to mid off.

15.3W

OUT! CAUGHT! Another one bites the dust. The catching has certainly improved for Bangladesh. Back of a length, outside off. The ball is moving away a bit. Sandeep Goud reaches out and slaps it straight to the man at extra cover. Mushfiqur Rahim is not the one to drop catches and he pouches it safely at the edge of the circle. Mohammad Saifuddin gets his first wicket and it is not looking good for Oman now.

13.50

NOT OUT! The foot never left the crease. Tossed up, landing fuller around off, the ball lands and turns away slightly, missing Goud's attempted defense. Nurul Hasan collects the ball and whips the bails off and appeals loudly. The TV umpire is called in to have a look. He first checks for the outside edge. Nothing on the UltraEdge and the replays show that the foot never left the crease. Goud is safe.

Is that stumping? The umpire takes it upstairs to confirm. First the third umpire checks for any outside edge. The UltraEdge shows no bat is involved, as there is a flat line when the ball passes the bat. The replay also shows Goud had his back leg grounded the whole time. He is safe and still out in the middle. The final decision is not out.

OUT! CAUGHT! Another wicket falls and this is the big wicket of Jatinder Singh. It looked like a tough catch but Liton Das has made it look very easy. Oman are losing wickets quickly now and Bangladesh are bouncing back well. This is again bowled slightly fuller, but the line is around middle and leg, Singh gets low on one knee and smacks his sweep shot to the right of Das at deep square leg, who shuffles quickly to that side and holds onto this. 64 more needed in 42 balls.

OUT! CAUGHT! What a great catch. Bangladesh have been off-colour with their fielding so far but this catch is top-notch. Mustafizur Rahman dropped one early on, but this time, he redeems himself. Fuller this time, slightly wider outside off, Zeeshan Maqsood gets on his one knee and looks for the big slog-sweep over the leg side, but he only hits it with the lower half of the blade. DRINKS! It has been a good phase of play for both the teams, but in our opinion, Oman have the upper hand, as they have the extra runs as compared to what Bangladesh had at the same moment. However, Oman would hope the current pair is able to take the game deep. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have dropped a few chances and would hope to chip wickets at regular intervals and make inroads into the Oman batting line-up.

9.51

A touch short around middle and leg, Mohammad Naim turns inside the crease and pulls it over square leg for another single.

Drinks! Oman started off really well by choking the runs and taking a couple of quick wickets, but, since then, they have been poor on the field as they have dropped 3 catches and have allowed Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Naim to stitch a handy stand. Bangladesh will be hoping that these two can continue at the same rate, whereas, a couple of quick wickets is what Oman will be eyeing.

OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! The move to promote Mahedi Hasan has not worked for Bangladesh. Slightly short in length around off, at 136 kph, it's not short enough to pull but Mahedi stands back to do that. He swings his bat across the line but the ball skids on sharply at him and takes the splice of his blade. A gentle delivery to begin proceedings. It's an outswinger on a length outside off, Naim watches it well and makes a leave.

The game is set to begin. Firstly the players come out for their respective national anthems. First, it will be of Bangladesh and that will be followed by the anthem of the home side, Oman. Now, the Oman players spread out to their respective fielding positions and they are followed by the opening pair of Bangladesh, Mohammad Naim and Liton Das. Bilal Khan to start with the ball for the hosts.

Pitch report - Danny Morrison says that the surface has a nice tinge of grass and there is a little indentation. Adds that there could be some variable bounce and if the bowlers hit the right lines and lengths, they could do well.

The Oman skipper, Zeeshan Maqsood, says that they are happy to bowl first and they would look to keep Bangladesh to a low score. On being asked if there is any pressure on them, as, if they win this game, they could more or less confirm their place in the Super 12, Zeeshan replies that they had pressure in the first game and not in this one. Informs that they have one change, Fayyaz Butt is in for Khawar Ali.

The captain of Bangladesh, Mahmudullah, says that they will bat first. He says that they would like to put runs on the board and then defend it later on. He adds that dew is a factor here and they just want to put a good total on the board. About the last game, Mahamudullah explains that they didn’t get enough partnerships with the bat and the batters need to take more responsibility. He mentions that there is one change, Soumya Sarkar is out and Mohammad Naim replaces him.

Oman (Playing XI) - Aqib Ilyas, Jatinder Singh, Zeeshan Maqsood (C), Kashyap Prajapati, Naseem Khushi (WK), Mohammad Nadeem, Ayaan Khan, Sandeep Goud, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan, Fayyaz Butt (In for Khawar Ali).

Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Liton Das, Mohammad Naim (In for Soumya Sarkar), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman.

Toss - Up goes the coin, Mahmudullah calls correctly and BANGLADESH ELECT TO BAT!

Update - Scotland have secured maximum points after thumping Papua New Guinea by 17 runs. With that, they move to the top in Group B with 2 wins.

Oman made a huge statement in their tournament opener by thumping PNG by 10 wickets and have made their case really strong. Another win here will almost seal the deal for them and the home team would be looking forward to achieving that at Bangladesh's cost. The Bangla Tigers were the favourites of this group but an unexpected defeat has hurt their campaign. Losing against Scotland would have been demoralizing and that was mainly due to a disappointing batting effort. Can they pull up their socks and put up a big show?

Welcome to everyone for this vital Group B clash between Oman and Bangladesh. The former are heading into this match after an emphatic victory while the latter were shocked in their opener and find themselves precariously placed. It's already a do-or-die game for the Bangla Tigers with Scotland almost set to win their ongoing match against Papua New Guinea. Can Bangladesh turn things around against the hosts and keep their campaign alive? Let's find out.
