Right then, that is all we have from this first T20I. New Zealand go 1-0 up and Scotland would be eyeing a win in the next game to level this series. The second game will be played on Friday, 29th of July at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT). Our build-up though starts in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!

Mitchell Santner, the skipper of New Zealand, says that they got off to a good start on a nice wicket and it was turning and it was nice to see. Says that Allen showed the glimpses in the Irish series and today he carried on. Says that the depth in the squad is great and it is good to see that players are taking the opportunities that are coming their way.

Richie Berrington, the skipper of Scotland, says that it was a tough day and they certainly did not execute it the way they can. Tells that they gave away a lot of runs in the backend and credits Allen for his knock. Says that he hopes to come out with better execution in the next game. Tells that the positives for them would be the way Greaves bowled in the middle overs but they need to better in the next game.

Finn Allen is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that the wicket was nice and it was good to get a score on the board. Tells that he has been batting well and today it came off. Says that it has been great batting with Guptill and mentions that they had a good preparation for this game.

Presentation time..

Earlier in the day, it was Finn Allen who delivered a special performance with the bat and got to his maiden T20I century. He century meant that Kiwis got  a huge score on the board as Scottish bowlers, especially pacers struggled on this flat deck. It was always going to be tough from thereon and in the end Scotland ended up crumbling under pressure to hand New Zealand a lead in this two-match T20I series.

The Kiwis were quite clinical, they did not get wickets in the Powerplay but never let the game drift away from them. They then reaped the rewards of bowling tight lines and Sodhi bowled brilliantly in the middle overs to shatter any hopes Scotland had after a decent start with the bat. He finished with four wickets and the skipper Santner also joined the party as he took two wickets to cap off a huge win for the visitors.

Scotland had a humongous task in front of them with the bat, as they went onto leak 225 runs with the ball. Scottish openers started off cautiously and they did not lose a wicket till 8 overs. However, the first wicket fell on the score of 62 and after that, the Scottish innings just went downhill. They continued losing wickets as they tried to up the ante. From 62-0, they crumbled to 88-5 and even though Greaves and the lower order batted with a lot of heart in the end, they never ever looked like chasing this target down.

New Zealand have clinched this first T20I with a dominating performance. They outplayed Scotland completely in all the departments and the Scottish unit need to come up with better plans and execution in the next game if they want to level this series.

Commentary

We are back for the run chase. The New Zealand players make their way out to the middle. George Munsey and Calum MacLeod will start the innings for Scotland. Lockie Ferguson will begin proceedings with the ball.

... RUN CHASE ...

Scotland will be really disappointed that they were unable to control the New Zealand innings. The bowlers lacked discipline and provided several loose deliveries. The spinners were a bit more economical than the pacers who were taken to the cleaners by the New Zealand big hitters. The two frontline fast bowlers conceded 120 runs in their quota of 8 overs. They conceded 79 runs in their last five overs and now have a target of 226 to chase down. It will be a tough task for Scotland to chase down this total and let's see how they go about their business in the second half. Stay tuned for the run-chase.

New Zealand began in typical fashion taking the attack to the bowlers from the word go. They put on an opening partnership of 85 runs before they lost Martin Guptill for 40. Finn Allen was the star with the bat as he got to his maiden T20I century and set the game up for the middle-order batters. Cameos from Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, and James Neesham took the score well above the 200 mark.

This has been quite a batting display from New Zealand as they have posted a commanding total of 225 on the board. Scotland will be a little disappointed with their bowling performance after winning the toss and will have their work cut out when they make their return to the field for the reply.

OUT! RUN OUT! Sole goes full on middle. Mitchell heaves it off the inside half of his blade to long leg. The batters complete easy two but since it is the last ball they try to steal the third run but Hamza Tahir is aware and throws it at the batter's end. Michael Bracewell running to the danger end is short of his crease and New Zealand finish with 225/5 after 20 overs!

Michael Bracewell is the new man in but will be at the non-striker's end for the last delivery.

19.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! James Neesham holes out! However, the damage has been done. It has been a brilliant cameo from the left-hander. This is shorter and outside off. James Neesham looks to pull it but gets a huge top edge. The ball goes in the air towards deep square leg and Calum MacLeod there settles under it to take a fine catch.

19.46

SIX! James Neesham is providing those finishing touches yet again! This is a slower delivery, around off. In the slot and James Neesham hammers it over the mid-wicket fence for a biggie.

19.36

SIX! Sole misses his yorker and James Neesham takes full advantage of it. A low full toss on off. James Neesham stays deep in his crease and tonks it over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.

FOUR! James Neesham finds the gap this time! This is very full on off. James Neesham goes deep in his crease and heaves it wide of long on for a boundary.

19.11

Good start to the final over for Scotland! A slower length delivery, outside off. Mitchell gets across and looks to reverse-scoop it. However, he miscues it completely and the ball goes a bit aerially square off the wicket on the leg side for a single.

17.20

A fullish delivery on middle. Allen works it towards the leg side.

17.14

FOUR! Maiden T20I hunderd for Finn Allen! A magnificent knock from the youngster. He is a dangerous player and has shown all his might today. He is already rated very highly as a T20 player and this knock proves why is that so. It is a fuller delivery on middle. Allen hits it aerially but straight down the ground. The ball goes off the bounce to the fence.

Finn Allen and Martin Guptill are the openers for New Zealand. Scotland will start with the spin. Hamza Tahir to start with the ball. Here we go...

Time for the national anthems now. It will be New Zealand's first and will be followed by the Scottish national anthem.

Mitchell Santner, the skipper of New Zealand, says there were good signs in the tour of Ireland even though he did not do well personally. Say that Scotland did well the last time they played at the world cup. Says the ground is big and the pitch looks good and the lads are up for the game. Confirms that Lockie Ferguson and Ben Sears are in the side with the latter doing well in the domestic circuit he hopes he does well to support Lockie Ferguson.

Richie Berrington, the skipper of Scotland, says that they will bowl first and it looks like a good batting surface and they back themselves to chase down the total. Says that they are excited to play on this ground again and are ready to show their skills. Mentions that they have good memories of the T20 World Cup and and are looking to play well today.

PITCH REPORT - Craig McMillan is down for the pitch report. He says that the surface looks good and has nice even covering of grass and the outfield is also fast. Mentions that there will be lot of runs on this pitch.

Scotland (Playing XI) - George Munsey, Calum MacLeod, Matthew Cross (WK), Richie Berrington (C), Oliver Hairs, Chris Greaves, Michael Leask, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Hamza Tahir.

New Zealand (Playing XI) - Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, Dane Cleaver (WK), Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (C), Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Ben Sears.

TOSS - Scotland have won the toss and they have elected to BOWL first.

The Kiwis, on the other hand, would be looking to continue the same form they displayed in the last series against Ireland. They have a good blend of youth and experience in their squad and we might see them experimenting a bit with their combination in this series. Can Mitchell Santner and company deliver a dominating performance? Or will Scotland bring their A-game onto the table? Toss and team news in a bit.
