Right then, that brings us to an end to this New Zealand's tour of Scotland. The Kiwis have dominated the proceedings and it shows the great depth in their side. Scotland, on the other hand, would like to use this experience to get better in future. There is lot of cricketing action to looks forward to though as we have Women's cricket in the Commonwealth games. Indian men's team will be taking on West Indies on 1st of August in the second T20I. Exciting cricket is all around us. Do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!

Mitchell Santner, the skipper of New Zealand says that it was a pretty good show from his boys and he is happy with the chase. He says he is happy with the bowling performance as they got 5 wickets pretty quickly. He also says that they had Scotland in their grasp but let them away a bit at the end. He adds that 300 was a par score on this ground and praised Chapman and Mitchell for the way they batted and finished the game.

Richie Berrington, the skipper of Scotland says that there was a lot of good stuff from them today. Adds that in the first innings, they missed out on getting to 350 after the start they got. Credits Cross and Leask for the way they played and with 300 on the board, they were in with a good chance. Tells that, unfortunately, they did not manage to get wickets in the middle and for them, it is back to the basics and they would like to take this experience and build on this in future.

Mark Chapman is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his superb unbeaten century He says that it is nice to be out there in the middle, score runs and win the game for the side. He says he is delighted with the ton and says that he had a chat with Mitchell who said to him to play his natural attacking game. He adds that it was about taking the game deep and then find one or two big over to take the game away. He ends by saying that they were confident at the innings break because the wicket looked good and they backed themselves to chase down the total.

Presentation time...

Earlier in the day, Scotland were in big trouble when they were 5 down for a 100 or so. However, Leask played a blinder and he received good support from the likes of Cross and Watt and that saw them going over 300. Michael Bracewell bowled quite well for the Kiwis, utilizing the spin that was on offer in this wicket but credit should go to the New Zealand batters for chasing this down with such ease in the end.

Scotland were quite impatient with the ball, there was enough in this wicket to cause problems but they just bowled too many boundary balls which did not let them build the pressure. The spinners too bowled well in parts and they’ll be disappointed with how things went in the second innings. Leask bowled well after his brilliant batting performance earlier in the day but they needed a more clinical display with the ball.

The top three provided them with the start they needed but when the third wicket fell, the game was still in the balance. Then though came the match winning stand between Chapman and Mitchell. The former scored a brilliant ton and the latter played as the perfect foil to round off a lovely chase.

A superb win for the Kiwis! A really good chase on a wicket which wasn’t easy to bat on. The key here was sensible batting and that is what New Zealand did.

Commentary

We are back! The players are out there in the middle. Finn Allen and Martin Guptill are the openers for New Zealand.

...THE RUN CHASE…

The wicket is a decent one, it is a good one to bat on but there is a little bit of turn. New Zealand, the way they have batted on this tour, will be confident of chasing this down. Scotland on the other hand, will know they need to keep taking wickets if they are to defend this. Stay tuned for the run-chase.

New Zealand will be quite disappointed as they have left Scotland off the hook. After the start the hosts got, they did really well to get 5 quickly. Michael Bracewell was the star in that passage for New Zealand. Later on though, they were unable to stem the run flow and also struggled to take wickets. Not sure if the wicket got better or they just bowled poorly but the massive advantage they had at one stage has slipped away from them.

The start was really good for the hosts. They managed to score quickly and only lost one in the first 10. After that though, it was a struggle for quite sometime. They lost wickets in heaps and the run-scoring was also difficult. Then came Leask and counter-attacked and he did so brilliantly. He put up two important partnerships, one with Matthew Cross and the other with Mark Watt. The three in total added over 150 runs and when they were batting, 320 looked possible but wickets towards the end saw them fall short of that mark but getting to 300 from where they were is a very good achievement in itself.

That is a brilliant recovery from Scotland and they have got themselves to a really good total. They were reeling at 107 for 5 and from there, getting over 300 is a big achievement and they will feel they have given themselves a real chance in this game.

49.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Jacob Duffy takes the final wicket but Scotland will be pretty happy with this total. This is full on middle. Sole heaves it to deep mid-wicket. It goes in the air but sadly for Sole and Scotland there is not enough power behind this shot and the ball goes straight into the hands of Glenn Phillips at deep mid-wicket. Scotland are bowled out for 306!

49.31

Good-length delivery on off, Hamza Tahir pushes it of his back foot towards point and gets across for a single.

49.31wd

WIDE! Tries the slower ball but spears it down the leg side. Wided.

49.24

FOUR! EDGY! Scotland won't mind it at all. This is on a length and on off, Hamza Tahir tries to work it to the off side but gets a thick outside edge past the keeper diving to his right and towards the third man fence for a boundary.

49.11

Full and on off, Chris Sole drives it towards the cover fielder who dives but cannot stop the single. With that, the 300 comes up for Scotland.
