... Presentation ceremony ...

Earlier in the day, the Irish tail fought valiantly to get their side to a competitive total of 159 runs. This was well backed up by Josh Little who gave them a brilliant start with the ball. This was all washed away as Waseem Muhammad turned on the heat on what was already a very scorching day and notched up his second T20I ton. United Arab Emirates end up becoming the champions of the 2022 T20 World Cup Qualifiers A. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.

Well, 159 didn't seem enough but Ireland had all the momentum coming into the chase. They made it count as Josh Little got two wickets in the 4th over and the Irish bogged down their opponents inside the Powerplay. However, the lack of control from the spinners in the middle overs really cost them. Ireland could not pick up another wicket until it was too late and their bowlers were smashed to all parts of the ground by Waseem Muhammad. In the end, it was a disappointing effort in the field and the trophy that seemed to be theirs at one point slipped out of their grasp. They finish second and will now head into Group B of the preliminary stage of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

United Arab Emirates lost a bit of momentum going into the interval and were reeling at 12/2 inside 4 overs. They seemed to have let the final slip out of their grabs but Waseem Muhammad stepped up big time. He was very well supported by Rohan Mustafa who played very smartly and even hit the winning runs in the end. The pair added on 141 runs for the third wicket and Waseem became just the 10th man to score more than one T20I century, both of them coming against Ireland. Waseem got out at the death but he had already sealed the deal and UAE won the 2022 T20 World Cup Qualifier A!

What a topsy-turvy and cracking final this has been! In the end, it's one man who has made all the difference and that man is Waseem Muhammad. What a sensational knock he has played in the final to bring the trophy home for United Arab Emirates!

Commentary

We are back for the chase. The players walk out to the middle. Waseem Muhammad and Chirag Suri walk out to open for United Arab Emirates. Mark Adair to start with the new ball.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then. 160 is what United Arab Emirates need to win the finals. They have beaten Ireland before in the group stage fixture and would surely back themselves to achieve the feat all over again. Ireland, on the flip side, have a good bowling unit, who can cause a lot of trouble, if in rhythm. An enticing chase awaits. Do join us shortly to find out who lifts the trophy.

UAE dominated the proceedings with the ball. They had Ireland by the scruff of the neck but they did allow the middle-order batters to add some runs, which may upset them if the result doesn’t end in their favour. All the UAE bowlers were on song. They put early pressure on the opposition but were not able to capitalize on it. Ireland were 67/6 at one stage but UAE could not put a lid on the run rate in the final three overs and bundled out Ireland at 159 on the very last delivery. Rohan Mustafa and Zahoor Khan were the stand out bowlers for United Arab Emirates. They both picked up three wicket apiece.

Ireland got off to a flying start. They racked up 11 runs in the first over. But within the next three overs they were teetering at 19/3. Later, Lorcan Tucker and Shane Getkate showed grit and determination, along with Harry Tector. These are the only three batters who got good start with the blade for Ireland. Tector made the most of his reprieve and racked up 50 runs but slipped out in the 17th over and was not able to end the Irish innings on a high. In the final three over, Mark Adair and Barry McCarthy played a stupendous knock to cross the 155-run mark.

A brilliant repair work by the Irish tail-enders. They have added some strength to their total and have given themselves something to fight for. United Arab Emirates could've bundle out Ireland for a much lower score but they would've surely taken 159 before the game as well.

Ahmed Raza, the captain of United Arab Emirates says that they would have batted first as well and the wicket's not going to change much so they just need to keep their nerves. He adds that their fans have been amazing and thanks them for their support and he knows that the job is not done and they want to bring the trophy home. He adds that they know if they lose they will be in a difficult group in the World Cup so the stakes are high and both teams will be looking to express themselves. Informs that Usman misses out and the leg spinner is back in.

Ireland skipper, Andy Balbirnie says they will bat first. It looks like a good wicket and try to get a good score on the board. Agrees that it is a very happy camp and really were able to perform really good in a do-or-die game. Mentions, Craig Young misses out due to injury.

United Arab Emirates (Playing XI) - Waseem Muhammad, Chirag Suri, Vriitya Aravind (WK), Rohan Mustafa, Basil Hameed, Zawar Farid, Kashif Daud, Ahmed Raza (C), Karthik Meiyappan (In for Muhammad Usman), Zahoor Khan and Junaid Siddique.

Ireland (Playing XI) - Andy Balbirnie (C), Paul Stirling, Gareth Delany, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Harry Tector, Shane Getkate (In for George Dockrell), Simi Singh, Andy McBrine, Mark Adair, Barry McCarthy (In for Craig Young) and Josh Little.

TOSS - Ireland win the flip of the coin and have elected to BAT first.

Well, everyone expected Ireland to be in the top two, so no surprises here but it has not been the easiest of tournaments for them. They have looked comfortable but a loss to UAE in the group stage meant that the Irish side still needed improvement and they did improve. In the semi-finals, they put on their best performance of the tournament and won comfortably against Oman. Craig Young has been their best bowler so far and they will be eyeing revenge against UAE here in the final and seal their spot in Group A of the 2022 T20 World Cup. So, will UAE surprise the Irish yet again? Or will Ireland show them who's the boss? We'll find out soon. Toss and team news in a bit.

United Arab Emirates have grown in stature over the last few years and they have a good all-round T20 side that is certainly capable with the bat. They did suffer a shock loss to Bahrain in the group stages of the competition but they did defeat their opponents for the day as well in the group stages. This will certainly boost their confidence a lot coming into the final. In the semis, UAE thrashed Nepal with their star batter, Vriitya Aravind once again notching up runs and he will certainly be the key for them if they are to win the final.

Hello and a warm welcome to the Final of the 2022 T20 World Cup Qualifier A. The two best sides in the competition have made it through to the Final and both of them have sealed their places in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Ireland will face the United Arab Emirates for bragging rights here and also to find out which side gets drafted into which group. Fascinating encounter coming your way.
