That's it from this game. But don't go too far away as the clash between Afghanistan and Pakistan will get underway soon at 6 pm local (2 pm GMT) in Dubai. Switch tabs and do join us for all the action. Cheers!

Mahmudullah, the skipper of Bangladesh, starts off by saying that Liton Das' wicket was crucial and the turning point. He mentions the bowlers did a very good job and Taskin, Shoriful and Mahedi bowled beautifully. Further adds that fielding has been an issue and they certainly need to come out better.

Nicholas Pooran, the stand-in skipper of West Indies, is also the Man of the Match! Says that it was a tactical move from the team to have him down the order. Adds that it was one of those days when he felt like he has to put his hand up and someone had to take the responsibility. Tells us that he is always confident and has been working very hard. Says that he has been honest with himself and always confident about his skills.

It was a game where West Indies' misery with the bat was exposed once again. But the batting of Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder helped them to revive their innings in the last 6 overs and they managed to push a challenging total on the board. Credit to their bowlers for staying disciplined, however, the fielding was not up to the mark. Jason Holder and Ravi Rampaul did a great job to keep Bangladesh quiet initially and then they maintained the same intensity. The wickets also kept falling here and there and that didn't allow Bangladesh any kind of momentum. At the halfway mark, if you compare the batting innings of both teams, it was almost similar but West Indies had the firepower in their lower order to bail them out, something Bangladesh lacked. Liton Das and Mahmudullah tried their best but failed to take Bangladesh home.

Phew! What a cliffhanger, by far the closest game of this edition of the T20 World Cup! West Indies have managed to edge out Bangladesh by the barest of margins and stayed alive. This is their narrowest win in the history of the T20 World Cups. With this loss, Bangladesh have been pushed near the exit door.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Shakib Al Hasan is opening for Bangladesh along with Mohammad Naim. Ravi Rampaul is set to start with the ball.

... The Run Chase ...

Right then, Bangladesh have 143 to chase down to stay alive in this tournament. Batting is not going to be easy and the Bangla Tigers would be thinking that they conceded 20-25 runs extra towards the end. Can their batsmen make up for it? Do join us in a short while to find out.

Nicholas Pooran says that the wicket is quite challenging to bat on and to hit cross-batted shots is not at all easy. Adds that he is happy that he could contribute and get some runs for his team. Praises Bangladesh for the way they bowled in the Powerplay. Finishes by saying that he is quite happy with the total and this total of 142 looks like 160.

Bangladesh were brilliant with the ball in front of an intimidating batting lineup of the West Indies but will be a shade disappointed with the way they closed the innings. The Bangla Tigers kept a lid on the scoring rate for most parts of the innings and at the same time kept chipping away at the wickets. The Windies were not allowed to recover and Kieron Pollard getting retired hurt and Andre Russell bagging a diamond duck further jeopardized their situation. Although a slow knock from Roston Chase, he at least stayed in the middle to fight it out. Mahedi Hasan dropped him twice and his stand with Nicholas Pooran allowed West Indies to bounce back. The arrival of Pooran injected fresh momentum into the Windies innings and here he is giving a quick interview...

It was yet another sorry batting show by West Indies. Right from the beginning, they struggled to find the fence and their openers were also not able to rotate the strike well. To compound their misery, both Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle departed in quick succession and West Indies managed only 29 runs in the Powerplay. The Men in Maroon hit only a couple of boundaries in the first 10 overs and that tells you the story of their batting plight. Mahedi Hasan and Shoriful Islam were the most successful bowlers for Bangladesh and showed that the pitch has something for both the spinners and pacers if they bowl smartly.

A decent recovery in the end overs from West Indies and they have ended up with a challenging total on the board. 72 runs came in the last six overs, all thanks to a counter-attacking knock from Nicholas Pooran and a handy cameo from Jason Holder, as apart from them, all the other batters failed to come to terms with the nature of this surface.

FOUR! That is only the third boundary in the game so far! Usually, the West Indian batters will score three boundaries in the same over, but it has been a different game of cricket here. Short of a length, on the pads. Chase pulls it nicely. The man from deep square leg runs to his right, puts in a dive and gets his hand to it but cannot push it back in. Boundary.

10.21wd

10.11

DRINKS! Bangladesh have done really well to keep West Indies right under the pump. They have scored just two boundaries so far and have lost 3 wickets. The skipper, Kieron Pollard along with Roston Chase is trying to revive the innings with their partnership but will have to start attacking sooner rather than later. The Bangladeshi bowlers will look to continue doing the good work and keep the momentum on their side. Can West Indies recover? Mustafizur Rahman is back on...

OUT! CAUGHT! Evin Lewis departs. Clever deception from Mustafizur Rahman, something he is known for! Serves it on a length around middle and leg, at 126 kph, Evin Lewis tries to stay back and swing it over the leg side. But the ball arrives late to gather the toe end of the bat. It goes high in the air towards square leg, Mushfiqur Rahim comes running in and takes the skier safely. A big setback for West Indies as Lewis has been the only batsman for them in some sort of a form.

2.50

Around off, angling in, Evin Lewis gets behind the line and blocks it back.

2.41lb

Appeal for an lbw! Not given again. Fuller and around off, angling in, Gayle tries to flick but misses. It goes behind off his pads and the bowler starts to appeal. FOUR! Three dot balls and Evin Lewis releases the pressure with a boundary. Taskin Ahmed serves it full and wide outside off, at 146 kph, Lewis gets the room to free his arms and he smashes it through the gap at extra cover for a boundary. Spoils a good over from Taskin.

1.50

Pitches it up and around off, Evin once again drives through the line, this time it's from the middle of the bat but the placement is not good. Straight to mid off.

1.40

Fuller in length and wide outside off, Lewis plays a mistimed drive towards mid off and wants to steal a run. The Universe Boss says no. Evin needs to be careful with running between the wickets as Gayle is not the quickest.

Right then. The pre-match formalities are done and we are set for the clash to get underway! Mahmudullah has his team in a huddle and has a few motivating words to say before they spread out on the field. The big man, Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis walk out to bat for the Windies. Mahedi Hasan is set to start with the ball. But first, both the teams and the umpires take a knee to support the Black Lives Matter movement.

We are set for the action to begin. Both the teams have walked out for the anthems. First, the national anthem of Bangladesh will be played followed by 'Rally 'round the West Indies', which is the cricketing anthem for West Indies.

Andre Russell is down for a chat. He says that every game from here is like a knockout game. Adds that they always knew that this group would be a tough one and they haven't been able to win so far. Mentions that in both the games so far, he has tried to get some balls under his belt but that has not worked. Finishes by saying that he hopes to spend more time in the middle and contribute to the team.

Kieron Pollard, the captain of West Indies, says that it's a do-or-die game and that's the reality and they have no one but themselves to blame for that. Mentions that this is a perfect opportunity for them to put up a good score and defend it. Informs that there are a couple of changes. Simmons misses out and Roston Chase will make his international T20 debut. Hayden Walsh goes out and Jason Holder comes in for him. Also shares that Gayle will be opening the innings.

Mahmudullah, the skipper of Bangladesh, says that batting first in the last game did not work for them. Adds that West Indies have a big batting lineup so they want to restrict them to a low score and chase it. Informs that there are two changes in the side - Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed come in for Nurul Hasan and Nasum Ahmed.

West Indies (Playing XI) - Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle, Roston Chase (In for Lendl Simmons), Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Kieron Pollard (C), Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder (In for Hayden Walsh), Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul.

Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Mohammad Naim, Liton Das (WK), Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Soumya Sarkar (In for Nurul Hasan), Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed (In for Nasum Ahmed), Mustafizur Rahman.

Toss - It's time for the all-important toss. Kieron Pollard and Mahmudullah are in the middle. The latter calls correctly and BANGLADESH ELECT TO BOWL FIRST!

Pitch report - Daren Sammy is down for the pitch report. He says that the conditions are very hot and as far as the dimensions of the ground are concerned, the straight boundaries are a bit on the bigger side as compared to the square boundaries. Informs that so far in the Super 12s, the chasing teams have won most of the games. Danny Morrison is also there and says that this is a fresh and new wicket and he feels it will be all about spin to win. Morrison adds that spinners here will look to bowl at the stumps and get wickets via LBW and bowled. Further says that it tends to be slow and low, and that's why, as a bowler, you need to bowl in the line of the stumps.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been dealing with inconsistencies. They put on a big score against Sri Lanka, but their bowling and fielding let them down. But in the clash against England, their batting let them down. Bangladesh got to the Super 12s after staging a comeback from their loss against Scotland. They would want to stage a comeback here again but it will be much more difficult to do against top-quality sides in what has been termed as the 'Group of Death'. The Bangla Tigers have been known to punch above their weight and if they will be able to do so remains to be seen.

The West Indies side that we have witnessed so far in the World Cup is not the power-hitting side that we have grown accustomed to seeing. In both their clashes so far, their batting has just not been upto the mark and that has hurt them big time. When a side has the likes of Simmons, Gayle, Pollard, Russell, etc in its ranks, one would expect it to put on massive scores on the board. But that has not been the case for West Indies in the competition. One of the reasons could be that the pitches here have not been the easiest to bat on and they have struggled to change their game plan. Will the Windies continue to try and slog their way out of trouble? Or will there be a change in tactics? That should be an interesting thing to see in this clash.

Hello and a warm welcome to the clash between West Indies and Bangladesh. Both these teams are coming off consecutive losses in their last couple of games and would need to get back to winning ways quickly if they want to stay in the race of making it to the semis. Who will break their losing streak? Stay with us to find out.
