Bonner reviews it straightaway and the replay confirms that there was a huge inside edge onto the pad.

Holder and Bonner have done well to ease out any sorts of nerves that were popping up after the wicket of Jermaine Blackwood. England bowlers have done everything they could but could not break this partnership. England would like to believe that they are just a wicket away from triggering a collapse here but Windies will be pretty confident of salvaging a draw from hereon. We are also in that territory now where if both skippers agree, they can shake hands and the match can be declared as draw before finishing the scheduled overs remaining in the day.

Drinks! England came into the final session all pumped up and they had more reasons to rejoice as Jack Leach got rid of Jermaine Blackwood pretty early in the session. After that though the pair of Jason Holder and Nkrumah Bonner have shown great resilience just like they did in the first innings. There are still 26 overs left in the day in which the visitors need 6 wickets to get the win but for the hosts, it's all about getting through the next 10 overs without losing a wicket. If they do so, they should be safe.

...Day 5, Session 3...

Windies were going well for the most part of the session but they lost three wickets in the later half of the session and that will be disappointing for the Caribbean boys. The skipper, Braithwaite and Campbell put together a solid opening stand and despite both of them departing in quick succession, the Windies have a lot of batting in their belly to salvage a draw here. The pitch no doubt is not helping the bowlers as much as a Day 5 pitch should but neither is it easy for the batters to score quickly. So, a Windies win is out of the equation and they would just look to bat the final session of this session with resilience and authority to take the confidence into the next game. However, this game has a knack of dishing out surprises every now and then, and let’s see what is in store for us in the final session of this Test match. The last session starts at 12.30 am IST (7.00 pm GMT, the previous day). Stay tuned.

So, a wicket for England just at the stroke of Tea and that has ensured that the doors are still open for England. However, still 7 wickets to go and it is still quite a daunting task on this slow and low pitch. Unless, of course, West Indies decide to shoot on their own feet and self implode here. It was a hard toil for English bowlers with the x-factor of Mark Wood missing but they kept putting in efforts and eventually the man for the crisis, Ben Stokes broke the opening stand. Leach was the pick of the bowlers and managed to take two wickets to keep his team in the game but England needed at least one more wicket in this afternoon session to take more optimism and hope with them coming into the Tea break.

OUT! TAKEN! You could hear Zak Crawley saying 'that's a nice shot' on the previous delivery and now he takes a really sharp catch to make this match even more interesting. Beautifully bowled by Jack Leach yet again. Flighted, on off with a bit of drift in. The ball pitches, grips and turns away enough. Shamarh Brooks presses forward to defend but gets the outside edge and Crawley gets low quickly to grab the ball before it hits the ground at first slip. England get another wicket and that too on the cusp of the Tea interval.

Windies bowlers were put under pressure right from the start in the morning session but they reacted quite well and bowled some clever lines and lengths to restrict the scoring rate. They managed to take five wickets in this session and they will be overall pleased with their effort this morning. However, the real task is yet to be completed and their batters need to step up in the post-Lunch session. The pitch is still good to bat on and they will fancy playing out two sessions on this final day but a victory cannot be ruled out and it remains to be seen how they approach the afternoon session. The post-Lunch session starts at 10.10 pm IST (4.40 pm GMT). Stay tuned.

What an engrossing session of Test cricket this has been! England came out with great intent and stepped on the gas putting the Windies bowlers under pressure with a brisk scoring rate. They lost wickets on the way though but that did not derail their spirit and they kept going for their shots. Zak Crawley was the first man to depart but Dan Lawrence came in and started going from ball one and that provided impetus to the innings and that allowed skipper, Root to declare earlier than most people aniticipated. The reset button that was hit before this game for the English Test cricket has surely made them a bolder and more enterprising unit. It is upto their bowlers now to produce a special effort and script a famous victory here.

So, the Windies openers have safely negotiated this tricky phase of 24 balls! We have a match on our hands now folks! England have 67 overs to bowl out West Indies and register a win here while the men from the Caribbean need 282 runs more to script a famous victory here. All three results are possible here and if the action continues to be as edgy as it has been in the first session we are in for a treat on this final day of the first Test match.

The pitch has been pretty unresponsive for the bowlers while the batters have also struggled to score quickly due to the slow nature of the pitch. The conditions are expected to be more or less the same on the final day and Windies will need a special bowling effort in the first session of the day to garner any hopes of winning this Test. England, on the other hand, need to step on the gas and would be looking to add at least 100 runs to their kitty before they can think of declaring and having a crack at the Windies' batting lineup. The rain played spoilsport in the final session of Day 4 and let us hope that it stays away on this final day. An interesting first session coming up. Stay tuned for further updates.

Hello and a warm welcome to Day 5 of this first Test between West Indies and England. We are into the final day of this Test match but one must say that the game has not progressed at a pace where we can say that we will surely get a winner at the end of this Test match. At this point in time, a draw seems the most likely result but cricket is a funny game and we have seen Test matches take some exciting turns on the final day. England had a productive Day 4 as they wrapped up the Windies innings in the first over of the day itself and then Zak Crawley and Root made sure that they lost only one wicket throughout the day and eventually ended with a lead of 153 runs. England look like the more liklier of the two teams coming into the final day to push for a win and let's see how things pan out on the final day of this Test match.

...Day 5, Session 1...

Right then! Day 4 was interrupted by rain and we hope that it stays away on the final day of this Test match. We are in for an exciting finish to this Test as all three results are still possible, however, draw seems to be the most likely of them. The final day will begin half an hour early i.e. at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT). But as usual, the build-up will begin well in advance. Do join us for the same. Cheers!

Zak Crawley is up for a quick chat. He says that he enjoyed batting out in the middle and also credits Joe Root for the way he batted alongside him. Mentions that they will give themselves a chance in the morning on Day 5 and says, they still have a chance of winning this Test.

West Indies toiled hard. They managed to pick just one wicket, that too very early on and after that, there was nothing much for them. Although, the pitch is dead and not supportive, their bowlers were a bit widish and did not create enough sustaining pressure while Veerasammy Permaul was taken to cleaners. West Indies will be grateful that rain came in late and the tired minds can push on the final day of this Test match. England, on the other hand, have already lost some overs today and it is very dubious for a result but anything can happen in a Test match.

Just a quick glance at how the day went. England bossed the day thoroughly. They did well to take the last Windies wicket quickly and started their proceedings with intent. However, Alex Lees fell in the process but since then the visitors bossed each and every session. Zak Crawley and Joe Root combined to build a partnership of 193 runs. Crawley has notched up his second Test century while the skipper alongside, is also looking for a triple-digit score. England came into the final session with much more aggression as they scored more boundaries and did not allow the spinners to ease up. They were on a good course but the rain interruptions came unplanned in between.

UPDATE - 2.50 am IST (9.20 pm GMT, previous day) -  The rain has stopped but it has got very dark out there. The covers are off as well but we are very close to the scheduled close as well so with all that, it does not look much optimistic. The umpires are having a word with both the skippers. That is it - Play has been called off and it will be Stumps on Day 4.
