New Zealand beat West Indies by 90 runs

Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica

That's it then from this game and it is New Zealand who have sealed the three-match T20I series 2-0! There is one more game left and West Indies have a lot to play for in that game. The hosts will try hard to get a win and boost their confidence but the visitors will be eyeing a clean sweep. The third and final T20I will be played on 15 August and it will begin at 12 am IST (6.30 pm GMT, the previous day). Our build-up though will begin much sooner. Do join us then. Cheers!

The Kiwi skipper, Kane Williamson says that it was a fantastic performance from them and they know how potent the opposition is. Adds that they did it with the bat and then to back it with the ball as well was impressive. Adds that they needed to rotate the squad and Michael Bracewell contributed really well to the team. Mentions that T20 cricket can be really fickle in nature and they always try to adapt and the key is to keep it nice and simple, allowing players to settle in. Says that they had a couple of good performances and hopes it will be another one in the next game.

West Indies captain, Nicholas Pooran says that they didn't show up and the opposition batted them out of the game. Adds that they lost early wickets and couldn't build any partnerships. Says that in hindsight, they have just two spinners in the whole squad and ideally they like to play both of them but they didn't bowl well and it is all about discipline. Mentions that they have a chat about it but disappoint on the field. Adds that they felt that they just had to stay in the game and they struggled and were outplayed and they need to accept certain things and keep fighting. Mentions that it is difficult to perform and win every single game but they are a young group of players and they play every other day and is proud of the guys with all the injuries and everything else.

Glenn Phillips (76 off 41 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his impressive showing with the bat and in the field. Phillips says that coming back to Sabina Park feels great and he has happy memories here, a great feeling to do it for his country. Adds that the Windies bowlers bowled well upfront and took pace off it but it got better for batting later on. Says that it was similar to the wicket from the first game and it's just that they were more clinical this time around. Says that a lot of credit goes to Ramnaresh Sarwan for his performances in the Caribbean and says that they work hard to adapt to different conditions

The Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, Kane Williamson opted to bat first and make use of the batting-friendly conditions. After a stuttering start, Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips took on the Windies bowlers and the scoring rate kept on rising. It was then an 83-run quick-fire stand between Phillips and Daryl Mitchell that took the visitors on course of a score of above 200 runs. The Windies bowlers never really showed much fight and even though a couple of them bowled well, it wasn't enough. During the chase, the Kiwi spinners, Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell both got wickets off their first deliveries and never let their foot off the gas. The Windies had yet another top-order collapse and the runs had to be mustered by those down the order, which was just way too much to do. New Zealand have sealed the T20I series with this impressive win.

The Kiwis were absolutely brilliant. First with the bat and then with the ball. They totally outplayed the hosts and have now taken a 2-0 lead in the series. Phillips and Mitchell were the stars with the bat and the spin twins, Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell were the ones with the ball as they picked up three wickets each and were highly economical.

Yet another defeat for the Windies and quite a big one too. As we said, the stand between Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips batted the Windies out of the game. They needed someone to play a special knock and that did not come. They were 7 down even before they crossed the 100-run mark and from there was, this was never going to be chased. Even though the tailenders got a few lusty blows in but it was just to decrease the margin of defeat. Yet another disappointing show from the hosts.

Boult starts off with a length ball outside off, trying to swing it away. Kyle Mayers stays put and looks to drive but gets an under edge towards the keeper.

We are back for the chase! The umpires and the players are out in the middle. The New Zealand players spread out on the field as Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks are all set to open the innings for West Indies. Trent Boult will get proceedings underway with the ball for the Kiwis.

... The Run Chase ...

Now the target is a huge one and West Indies will need someone to play a special knock if they are to chase this down. New Zealand, on the other hand, will back themselves to defend this. Join us for the exciting run chase in a bit.

For the Windies, the bowling in the second half was yet again a problem. They were really good in most of the first half but later on were taken to the cleaners. Hayden Walsh had a day to forget as he was pounded to all parts and Jason Holder and Obed McCoy were expensive too despite the left-arm seamer taking three wickets. Windies will be really disappointed with their performance with the ball.

A powerful batting performance from the Kiwis. The pair of Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell were brilliant in the second half of the innings and have taken New Zealand to a score that seems a daunting one. The start was not all that great though as they lost Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson quickly. Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips steadied the ship and then the stand between Mitchell and Philips has probably batted the Windies out of the game. From a position of trouble, the visitors are in pole position now.

Conway shuffles past the off stump and gets low, trying to scoop it over short fine leg. Conway misses and gets pinged on the pads. The appeal from the Windies players is turned down but Pooran does review it. No spike on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Odean Smith does the job for his side and gets a crucial wicket.

Review! Yet another big shout LBW but it is turned down yet again and this time Nicholas Pooran does go upstairs. The UltraEdge is checked first and there's no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows that it is hitting middle stump. The on-field decision is reversed and West Indies have a breakthrough.

Kyle Mayers has been handed the new ball and he is raring to go. Before that, the Windies players take the knee in support of the BLM movement. Let's play...

Rovman Powell is in for a quick chat. Powell says that it's a special feeling to play international cricket in front of your home crowd. Adds that his form is a bit here and there and he's got into the twenties but needs to bat deeper and go on to get a big score. Says that his role is to close games, previously he batted at number 4 but they have had conversations about his best position. Adds that it is important for them to be disciplined with both bat and ball and they lose wickets in clusters which needs to be fixed.

PITCH REPORT - Samuel Badree is pitchside and says it's hot and humid out there. He informs that it's the same strip from the last game. Mentions that there's an even covering of grass and the pitch is hard and there's good bounce and even carry. Adds that there will be an impact of spin and the batters can score big once they settle in.

Nicholas Pooran, the captain of West Indies says that they are going with the same team and informs that Brandon King is still unfit.
