That is it, folks! The umpires had a chat with both the skippers, along with the coaches and they have decided that the game cannot continue and the match has been abandoned!  The captains shake hands and that is all we have from here. The first and third T20Is have been washed out. A gentle reminder that the series was originally supposed to be off 5 matches but was shortened as the preceding West Indies vs Australia ODI series went post their initial schedule. The 4th and final T20I will be played on 3rd August 2021, at 1100 local (1500 GMT). So do join us for that!

Update 1347 Local (1747 GMT) - The covers are off! I repeat the covers are off! We still do not have an official update but visuals show that the covers are off. We could get some more official updates soon.

Update 1400 local (1800 GMT) - The umpires just had an inspection and they have just decided that there will be another inspection at 1405 local (1805 GMT). The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 1422 local (1822 GMT). Stay with us.

Update 1330 local (1730 GMT) - There is still no update from the ground. It had stopped raining but the ground had taken a beating. The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 1422 local (1822 GMT). The live visuals show that the rain has stopped but the covers are still on. Let's hope that we get some play. Stay with us.

Update 1244 Local (1644 GMT) - The latest tweet from Cricket West Indies shows the umpires having a chat with both the skippers. We should get an update soon. The visuals show that the rain has stopped but the covers are still on with quite a bit of water on them. The ground staff is hard at work trying to get the ground suitable for play.

Fun fact - This is the first time since March 2019 that Chris Gayle has opened in T20Is. Surely, the big man didn't envision his return to the top being spoilt by rain?

Update 1205 Local (1605 GMT) - The live visuals show that the intensity of the rain has reduced. The covers are still on but there are puddles on some parts of the ground. Mohammad Rizwan can be seen walking barefoot on the ground along with Babar Azam.

Update 1145 local (1545 GMT) - There is still no update as it is still raining and the covers are firmly on the pitch. It looks gloomy as well but there is still time when we start to lose overs. Let's hope that the rain clears quickly and we get action as soon as possible. Stay with us.

1122 Local (1522 GMT) - Oops! It has started to pour down there. The covers are called immediately as the players walk off. Hopefully, this is just a passing shower.

Mohammad Wasim to start from the other end.

All set for the action! First, the teams protest racial discrimination in sport. We will some spin straightaway as Mohammad Hafeez is set to start with the ball. Andre Fletcher and Chris Gayle to open the batting. Interesting, a promotion for the big man.

Pakistan (Playing XI) - Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, Sohaib Maqsood, Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf (IN FOR SHAHEEN AFRIDI), Usman Qadir.

West Indies (Playing XI) - Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Kieron Pollard (C), Andre Russell (IN FOR EVIN LEWIS), Jason Holder, Dwayne Bravo, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh, Akeal Hosein.

Babar Azam, the Pakistan skipper, says that Hafeez is very important for them and they are looking forward to the game. Adds that they are struggling in the middle order but they are trying different combinations. Informs that Shaheen Afridi misses out and Haris Rauf comes in.

Kieron Pollard says that the pitch had a bit of moisture yesterday. Adds that their death over bowling is very pleasing and they have improved on that in the last few years. Informs that Evin Lewis is not playing and Andre Russell is back in the side.

Toss -  Both the skippers are out in the middle, or the toss. Up goes the coin and it lands in favour of West Indies. They will bat first.

Colin Croft is down for the pitch report, he says the pitch today will be better for batting than it was yesterday. Adds that there are a few cracks near the good length area. Mentions that the stats suggest that the chasing team wins more games here.

Mohammad Rizwan is there for a chat. He says that it is a proud moment to perform for his country. Adds that he credits his family for supporting him and his teammates are giving him a lot of confidence. States that he takes it step by step and wants to get as many runs as he can for his country. Goes onto say that he just times the ball and he is not a big-hitter. Says that they have made plans for different countries and first thing for them is to assess the conditions. Tells that the Powerplay is very important. Says that he follows his plans and hopes that they will do well.

Nicholas Pooran is down for a chat, says that the performance in the last game was very pleasing. Adds that the number of dot balls they face is a big concern and they are looking to work at it but playing in Guyana does not make it easier. Informs that it was not easy to bat in the last game and he struggled for the first 10-12 balls. Adds that they will be looking to be more positive against the spinners.

Update 1040 Local (1440 GMT) - We have some good news folks! The rain has stopped and the covers should come off. We should have the toss soon! So, the toss is scheduled for 1100 Local (1500 GMT) and play to start 15 minutes after that.

Update 1030 local (1430 GMT) - Ohh no! Not to be the bearer of bad news but the toss has been delayed as it has started to rain and the covers are being brought on. This is so not wanted and let's hope that it clears quickly and we get action as soon as possible. Stay with us.

An update on Evin Lewis - Evin Lewis had left the field during the second T20I due to heat exhaustion and left intercostal discomfort. He is a doubtful starter but is being treated and we will get to know his availability in some time.

The third T20I is upon us! One game was washed out and the second game was clinched by Pakistan. Yes, they did win but they still have issues with their batting, especially the middle order that is struggling to find the rhythm. Their bowling too needs to bowl better at the death. West Indies, on the other hand, have to improve their batting big time. They bowled well at the death which is a good sign and if they can put in a complete performance, they have a good chance of leveling the series. Toss and team updates in a while.
