Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa is the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab. He is also the state home minister. He represents the Dera Baba Nanak constituency as a member of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly (MLA). Randhawa initially ran for the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Fatehgarh Churian in 2002, defeating Nirmal Singh Kahlon of the Shiromani Akali Dal. He was elected in 2012 from the new constituency of Dera Baba Nanak. In the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, Randhawa narrowly retained the Dera Baba Nanak constituency by defeating Shiromani Akali Dal's Sucha Singh Langah with over 1,100 votes.
