Commentary

Right then, that’s all from this entertaining contest where India have levelled the series 1-1. The action now shifts to the Heritage Bank Stadium in Queensland for the 4th T20I, with both teams eyeing the lead. That game will be played on 6th November, Thursday, at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT), but as always, do join us early for all the build-up and pre-match chatter. Meanwhile, the cricketing action continues - the Indian openers have made a strong start in the ICC Women’s World Cup final against South Africa, so switch tabs and catch all the live coverage from that blockbuster clash. Cheers!

Suryakumar Yadav, the victorious skipper of India, expressed his delight after the win, highlighting the importance of winning the toss. He praised the team's hard work and the winning combination, particularly noting Washington Sundar's flexibility as a batter. Yadav also lauded the partnerships, mentioning Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma as 'fire and ice', while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh were described as a lethal duo, with both bowlers executing their plans brilliantly.

Mitchell Marsh, the captain of Australia, says that they were probably 20 runs short. Adds that they tried their best with the ball, but India were too good. Mentions that he loved the intent with the bat and praises Tim David and Marcus Stoinis for the way they batted, and says that the latter showed his experience. Says that he was hoping Glenn Maxwell would have been fit for this game, but he was not, and he expects him to play in the next match.

Arshdeep Singh is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his excellent spell with the ball. He attributed his success to focusing on the process and trusting his skills. He credited Jasprit Bumrah's presence at the other end for making his job easier and expressed his enjoyment in playing for India. Singh emphasized the importance of executing his practiced skills, stating that he simply tries to have fun whenever he gets the chance to bowl.

Presentation Time...

Australia needed early wickets in the Powerplay, and while they did manage to grab a couple, they conceded far too many runs in the process. They couldn’t build sustained pressure or string together enough quiet overs, and a few missed chances only added to their woes - something rarely seen from them. Amidst all this, Nathan Ellis was a major positive, showcasing excellent variations to claim three wickets. Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett chipped in with one each, but Australia were probably 15–20 runs short of what could have made a real difference.

Earlier in the game, Australia put up an impressive total on the board, thanks to a blistering 74 off just 38 balls from Tim David. Marcus Stoinis added a fiery half-century, while Matthew Short provided the finishing touches with a quick cameo at the death. For India, Arshdeep Singh marked his return with a fine three-wicket haul and was the standout performer with the ball. Varun Chakaravarthy picked up a couple, Shivam Dube chipped in with one, and although Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless, he kept things tight with an economical spell.

While chasing, Abhishek Sharma got off to a brisk start, as he has done consistently since his international debut, but his innings was cut short by a superb short ball from Nathan Ellis. Suryakumar Yadav then found his rhythm early, playing some trademark strokes, while Shubman Gill once again struggled to make an impact, raising questions about his place in this format. SKY’s quickfire 24 off 11 gave India early momentum before he fell to a soft dismissal. Axar Patel and Tilak Varma then ensured the run rate stayed under control with regular boundaries, though neither managed to see it through. In the end, Washington Sundar produced one of his best T20I innings, staying unbeaten on 49 off 23 balls, while Jitesh Sharma provided crucial support as India sealed the chase comfortably with 9 balls to spare.

A comprehensive performance from India! They’ve bounced back in style after the defeat at the MCG, completely outplaying Australia to level the series. To add to that, this marks the first time ever that the Aussies have lost a T20I in Hobart - a result that’s bound to hurt the hosts. Also, this is now the highest successful chase for the Men in Blue against Australia in T20Is.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The Australian players make their way out to the middle before spreading out and taking on their respective field positions. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill are the two openers for India. Xavier Bartlett to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... The Run Chase ...

With both teams evenly matched, the outcome hinges on how well India handles the new ball threat from Xavier Bartlett and Sean Abbott. Can they rise to the occasion and clinch the win, or will Australia's bowlers prove too strong? We'll find out soon.

With India needing to chase 187, they'll need to be razor-sharp to overcome the Aussie challenge. With a talented batting lineup, the visitors can certainly pull off the win, but they'll need to be calculated and aggressive in their approach. The absence of Josh Hazlewood from the Australian attack will be a welcome relief for India.

The Indian bowlers shone, with Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy taking crucial wickets. Arshdeep set the tone early, while Varun claimed two wickets in succession. Shivam Dube contributed with Tim David's significant wicket. Notably, Washington Sundar was left unused, likely due to the right-hand dominance in Australia's batting lineup, sparking questions about India's strategy, particularly regarding Kuldeep Yadav's exclusion.

Australia's formidable total of 186 was fueled by Tim David's explosive 74 and Marcus Stoinis' brilliant batting. Despite India's promising start, courtesy of Arshdeep Singh's early success with Travis Head, Australia's middle order seized control. David, promoted up the order, unleashed a furious 74 before falling to Shivam Dube, while Marcus Stoinis consistently threatened the Indian bowlers, scoring in the 60s.

OUT! TAKEN! Arshdeep Singh gets his third wicket now! This time, Rinku Singh takes it cleanly, and that is the end of a fantastic knock from 'The Hulk.' Low full toss, on middle and leg, Marcus Stoinis fails to get under it and mistimes his lofted shot towards long on. Rinku does not have to move an inch and takes a good catch at the knee height. Stoinis departs for 64 off 39, and Australia are 182/6!

FOUR! Oh..this is just clever batting! Short of a length and on off, Marcus Stoinis backs away a bit. He lets the ball pass him and just ramps it over the keeper's head to the third man fence for four more runs. Also, the 50-RUN stand comes up between this pair. Expensive over from Arshdeep!

17.54

FOUR! FIFTY FOR STOINIS! A smashing knock from 'The Hulk' and he will want to finish it on a high here. Goes fuller and just outside off, Marcus Stoinis opens the face of his bat and squeezes it wide of the diving point fielder for a boundary.

17.40

Good bowling! Arshdeep Singh nails the yorker, outside off, Marcus Stoinis fails to dig it out.

17.34

FOUR! Put away! Short of a length and just outside off, Marcus Stoinis frees his arms and cuts it away through point for a boundary.

17.21

Fuller and on middle, Matthew Short looks to drive it away but gets an iniside edge towards short fine for one.

17.11

Marcus Stoinis survives! Rinku Singh is claiming the catch, and this would be an amazing catch if it is a clean one. Arshdeep Singh bowls a low full toss, on middle. Stoinis lofts it down the ground but does not get the timing. Rinku runs forward, dives, and grabs it just inches above the ground. He throws the ball in the air, and India are celebrating. However, Stoinis stands there, and the umpire sends it upstairs. The third umpire looks at the replays a few times and sees that the fingers are not underneath the ball. Not out!

Is that a fair grab? If it is, then it's some catch from Rinku Singh on as a substitute. Rinku Singh looks confident regarding the catch but Marcus Stoinis is not going anywhere. The TV replay shows that the ball has bounced on the ground and it will be a single to Australia.

Arshdeep Singh (2-0-11-2) comes back into the attack.

OUT! BOWLED'EM! Absolute ripper from Varun Chakaravarthy! That's why he is the No. 1-ranked T20I bowler. He dishes out a googly with a little flick of his finger, full and on off, gets it to grip and turn in sharply. Mitchell Owen gets stuck in his crease as he fails to read it. He tries to punch it away but the ball goes through the gap between bat and pad to crash onto the middle stump. Owen departs for a golden duck, and Varun is on a hat-trick now!

A huge cheer from the crowd as the hometown hero, Mitchell Owen, walks out next to bat.

Floated, full and on off, Mitchell Marsh looks to take it on and loft it down the ground with the breeze. However, he has to reach out a bit and fails to get the timing right. David accepts the width on offer and cuts it with precision through point. There is a deep point in place, but he has no chance of stopping it as this goes like a tracer bullet. This has been a fiery knock from David, and he looks unstoppable at the moment.

7.44

FOUR! Thrashed away! Shivam Dube bangs this into the pitch, but this does not trouble the batter one bit. Tim David hangs back in his crease, gets on top of it, and slaps it towards the deep extra cover fence for a boundary. That also brings up the 50-RUN STAND between these two batters!

We are all set to kick off in Hobart. India's Arshdeep Singh is ready to bowl the first over of the contest to Australia's dynamic opening duo of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.

Australian skipper, Mitchell Marsh, described the wicket as a 'belter' and expressed his hopes for a strong start. Marsh confirmed that the only change to the team would be Sean Abbott replacing Josh Hazlewood.

Suryakumar Yadav, the skipper of India, cannot stop smiling after finally winning the toss. He says that the wicket looks good, and with the temperature dropping, he expects it to come better on the bat in the second innings. Mentions that the atmosphere in the squad is very good and they want to take one game at a time. Says that every match is important for them and they want to focus on what's in front of them. Informs that they have made three changes. Jitesh Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar replaces Sanju Samson, Harshit Rana, and Kuldeep Yadav.

Australia (Playing XI) - Mitchell Marsh (C), Travis Head, Josh Inglis (WK), Tim David, Mitchell Owen, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Short, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Sean Abbott (replaces Josh Hazlewood).

India (Playing XI) - Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma (WK) (replaces Sanju Samson), Washington Sundar (replaces Kuldeep Yadav), Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh (replaces Harshit Rana).

TOSS - Finally, Suryakumar Yadav has won a coin flip for India and he has elected to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Aaron Finch is pitchside. He says that it is a bit windy but the sun is out too. Adds that the pitch is hard and it will be a good batting track. Mentions that the pacers will have some good carry and bounce but spinners will have a limited role. Ends by saying that the boundaries are short on one side and he expects a lot of runs.

Today's excitement is not limited to the men in blue, as the women in blue are gearing up to face South Africa Women in the highly anticipated Women's ODI World Cup final in Navi Mumbai. With both teams having never won the title, the stakes are high, and a new champion will be crowned. Meanwhile, India and Australia's men's teams will clash in a thrilling T20I match, where the bilateral series is tilted towards the Aussies at the moment. Huge expectations surround both matches, promising an electrifying day of cricket.

The stakes are high for India, as they cannot afford to lose this game if they want to stay in contention for the series. Abhishek Sharma's scintillating 68 in the previous match wasn't enough to prevent Australia's victory, but Suryakumar Yadav's side will look to regroup and return to winning ways. The match promises to be electrifying, with Australia looking to stretch their lead and India looking to bounce back and get level in series.

The Australian team might see some changes in the playing XI, with Sean Abbott likely to replace the departing Josh Hazlewood. Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell's return to the squad would have boosted the team's morale, which was already on a high. Maxwell is expected to be fit to play in Hobart. India, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss and might consider bringing Arshdeep Singh back into the XI, potentially at the expense of Kuldeep Yadav or Harshit Rana, and even replacing Sanju Samson with Jitesh Sharma.

Hello and welcome to everyone tuning in. The stage is set for an exciting encounter between India and Australia in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. Australia currently leads the series 1-0 after securing a comprehensive win in the second T20I at the MCG. In that match, Australia's bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood's match-winning spell, restricted India to just 125 runs, and the Aussies chased down the target with ease, thanks to a blistering start from Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head.

... MATCHDAY ...

The action shifts to the Bellerive Oval in Hobart for the third T20I between Australia and India. The series opener was washed out, but we managed to get a full game in Melbourne, where Australia produced a comprehensive win. They will be eyeing a 2-0 lead and an unassailable advantage in the five-match series. That victory at the MCG was built on the back of a disciplined bowling display, led by the ever-reliable Josh Hazlewood. His trademark precision set the tone before Mitchell Marsh broke the back of the 126-run chase inside the Powerplay, turning the rest into a mere formality. With Hazlewood now departing for Ashes preparations, Australia will look to maintain that same intensity in his absence. In his absence, Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis will spearhead the pace department, with Sean Abbott likely to come in as Hazlewood’s replacement. However, a debut for Under-19 World Cup-winning speedster Mahli Beardman cannot be ruled out. The home side will receive a boost in both departments, with Glenn Maxwell joining the squad from the third T20I. Mitchell Owen is expected to make way for Maxwell, who returns after sitting out the New Zealand series with a fractured wrist. As for India, it was a dismal batting display in Melbourne, with Abhishek Sharma standing tall as the lone warrior. The visitors struggled against the seam movement and extra bounce on offer, and if they are to bounce back in Hobart, they will need the likes of Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, and captain Suryakumar Yadav to step up. On the bowling front, it remains to be seen whether India persist with their three-pronged spin attack or bring in an extra pacer should conditions demand, with Arshdeep Singh waiting in the wings. Axar Patel injured himself while attempting a dive during his run-out and subsequently did not bowl, leaving a question mark over his availability for the Hobart fixture. India will be playing their first game in Hobart since 2012. It will be all about adapting to the conditions quickly. With overcast skies expected during the night, the pacers could have a major role to play. Which side will read the conditions better and come out on top in Hobart? We shall find out together.
