The relentless partnership between Jangoo and Chase finally came to an end, but not before they stitched together a colossal 401 runs. This incredible feat officially broke the record for the highest-ever 6th-wicket partnership in Test cricket history! The marathon knock concluded when Jangoo was finally dismissed for a magnificent 233 runs, walking off to a massive standing ovation. However, after finding the breakthrough, Sri Lanka kept on hitting wickets. First, they got Alzarri Joseph, then they got the opposition's skipper, Roston Chase, who missed his double-century by just six runs short. The afternoon grind - The afternoon session was a carbon copy of the first as the Windies continued to milk the bowling with absolute ease. Sri Lanka turned to spin from both ends and deployed highly defensive fields, but Chase showed immaculate control to bring up a fine hundred. Jangoo and Chase seize control - Refusing to let the tea-time collapse ruin their hard work, Amir Jangoo and Roston Chase launched a brilliant counter-attack in the final session with patience and resilience. The duo batted with supreme confidence, safely navigating the Sri Lankan bowling attack. Later on, they extended their partnership to an unbeaten 103 just before the end of Day 2 and will be looking forward to continuing their sturdy partnership.

Fernando stuns the Windies - Amir Jangoo and Joshua Da Silva then came together to steady the ship, showing immense grit to put together a fighting 52-run partnership. Da Silva fell to Asitha Fernando but the ultimate drama, however, unfolded on the final delivery before the break as Fernando produced another brilliant ball to find Justin Greaves' edge. The double blow completely turned the session around, leaving West Indies reeling at 168/5 at Tea.

The Lankans replied well - The afternoon session saw the momentum swing violently back in Sri Lanka's favor. Left-arm spinner Sonal Dinusha provided the perfect start by dismissing the well-set John Campbell. The 39-run second-wicket stand was broken, and Sri Lanka didn't stop there. In the very next over, Milan Rathnayake dismissed Kavem Hodge, who unluckily chopped the ball back onto his own stumps, leaving the West Indies suddenly under immense pressure.

A solid start - The morning session of Day 2 began with a bit of misfortune for Sri Lanka, as they lost the services of seamer Lahiru Kumara early on due to a right hamstring niggle. Capitalizing on the missing bowler, West Indies openers John Campbell and Brandon King negotiated the first hour beautifully, adding 58 runs for the first wicket. Milan Rathnayake finally broke the deadlock right after the drinks break as King fell for a brisk 31. Campbell and Kavem Hodge then showed great discipline, leaving well and steering the visitors to a comfortable 89/1 at lunch, trailing by 219 runs.
