A winning start is crucial - Shaheen Afridi, the skipper of Pakistan, says he'd opt to bat first on this track. He also shares that they will have 4 debutants, therefore they will get the chance to bat freely without pressure, and support them. On the expectation on debutants he says that he is excited, having seen them perform well for the Shaheens and domestically. Afridi hopes they'll go on to have long careers with Pakistan. Afridi also believes a winning start is crucial as it gives him more freedom as captain, and he wants to just go with the flow and play their best cricket. After being asked that what would be a suitable target on the track, he replied that 270-280 would be a good target.

A fresh chapter - Bangladesh also seeks to build momentum after the World Cup phase, which saw them navigate complex challenges including a withdrawal from scheduled matches in India. But surely they have got ample amount of time to focus on the future and think about the prosperity of the team. If we talk about their last ODI outing, it was a successful one with 2-1 series victory over the West Indies in October 2025 which also proves their strength in the longer format. The last time these two sides met in a One-Day International was during the 2023 World Cup, where Pakistan emerged victorious by seven wickets. However, Bangladesh holds a strong historical advantage at Mirpur, having previously achieved a clean sweep against the Men in Green on this very ground.
