Commentary
Welcome back for the chase. The Pakistani players are out in the middle. Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan to open for Bangladesh. Shaheen Afridi to bowl first. Let's play...
...THE CHASE...
A great start by the visitors! Unlike the first game, where Pakistan played cautiously, the openers came out all guns blazing to put some early pressure on Bangladesh. Maaz Sadaqat, in particular, was outstanding today, scoring his maiden half-century in ODIs. However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz broke the 103-run partnership and was also at the thick of the action in the second 100-plus partnership. Bangladesh have the momentum on their back and with their batters in confident touch after the first game, they'll be looking to chase it down. Pakistan need to make the most of the new ball. Stay tuned for the chase.
Pakistan's batting effort! At 231 for 3, Pakistan were eyeing a 300-plus score with Rizwan and Agha cruising. The 109-run partnership between Rizwan and Agha appeared to be the bedrock of a massive innings with both batters looking increasingly comfortable. However, the game turned on its head following a highly controversial run-out decision involving Agha. The breakthrough proved catastrophic as Mohammad Rizwan followed him too, putting the innings in jeopardy. Eventually, Pakistan’s middle and lower order crumbled, losing their final five wickets for a mere 22 runs to finish well short of their projected target.
Innings highlight - A significantly improved batting performance from Pakistan, compared to their series opener, though they faced a late-innings wobble which ultimately cost them a promising total. Bangladesh have the upper hand right now, but with a much better performance with the bat, Pakistan have given their bowlers plenty of runs to play with.
OUT! TAKEN! Rishad Hossain wraps things up here. He floats it up, full and around middle. Mohammad Wasim goes down, clears his front leg to slog it over mid-wicket but gets hit high on the bat. He mistimes his shot much straighter and towards long on. Saif Hassan runs forward a bit and takes a fine catch. Pakistan have been bowled out for 274.
Floated, full and on middle, Haris Rauf tucks it through mid-wicket for a single.
Tossed up, full and on middle, Haris Rauf prods forward and blocks it out.

The ball takes the leading edge and lobs up towards extra cover, where Soumya Sarkar (Sub) takes a dolly. Pakistan are nine down now.
FOUR! Put away! Fizz bangs this into the pitch but down the leg side, slower again. Faheem Ashraf picks it up early, swivels and hooks it over short fine for a boundary.

Shaheen Afridi goes down for the slog sweep but only manages to get a top edge due to the spin away. The ball goes miles in the air towards deep mid-wicket, where Afif Hossain moves to his right, settles under the high ball and reverse cups it tumbling backwards. He has been a livewire in the field in this game. Pakistan are 266/8 now.
Flatter, full and around middle, Shaheen Afridi goes down and sweeps it wide of deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs.

BYE! Mustafizur Rahman has decided to come around the wicket to the left-hander and delivers a slower bouncer. Shaheen Afridi shuffles across the stumps, but misses to slap it away. The ball bounces just to the front of Litton Das, but fails to collect it and the batter gets a bye.

Commentary
One all, one to play - That brings us to the end of a shortened, yet entertaining contest where Pakistan bounce back strongly to level the series at 1-1, setting up a thrilling decider. The final ODI will be played right here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday, 15th March. The match will begin at 8.15 am GMT, and as always, you can join us a little earlier for all the build-up and team news. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Backed themselves and played their natural game - Shaheen Afridi, the victorious skipper of Pakistan, says that the last game did not go their way. Adds that they did not bat well, but in this game, they backed themselves and played their natural game. Mentions that this was a better surface and playing four seamers worked well for them. Afridi says that the middle order still needs to step up, as they lost too many wickets in that phase. Shares that they are preparing for the World Cup, and is also very happy with the performances of Maaz Sadaqat.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Maaz Sadaqat wins the award for his excellent all-round performance. He scored 75 off 46 with the bat and 3/23(5) with the ball. He starts off by thanking the Almighty for his performance. After being asked about the shift of momentum from the last match to this one, he said that in the last match, they were asked to play their natural game and it worked very well for them. Maaz then continues that in the last game he was a bit nervous as it was his first match, but today his natural instinct just came along, and there was a bit of luck as well. On his bowling performance, he says that he is a batting all-rounder, and he has been working hard with his coach to get better.
Top order didn't get runs - Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the captain of Bangladesh, says they didn't execute well in the first 10 overs, but credits Pakistan for starting well. Shares that it was a very good wicket to bat on, but admits the top order didn't get runs for them. He reckons that they need to improve as a batting unit and take responsibility. On the run out of Salman Agha, Mehidy says Agha was away from the wicket, so he picked up the ball and hit the stumps. If he had missed his throw, Agha would have taken the run, so that's what he was thinking.
Presentation Time...
Pakistan dominate with the ball - Pakistan were right on the money from the very start. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck twice early to put Bangladesh under pressure, while Mohammad Wasim also chipped in with a wicket before the rain break. After the delay, however, it was the Maaz Sadaqat show as he picked up three wickets and ran through the middle order. Faheem Ashraf grabbed one, while Haris Rauf also finished with three wickets to his name, wrapping up a dominant bowling performance.
Pakistan falter after strong start - Earlier in the game, Pakistan showed a much-improved batting effort but failed to finish strongly. The openers set the tone with a quick 103-run stand, with Maaz Sadaqat bringing up his maiden ODI fifty. Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan then added 109 runs for the fourth wicket, with Agha reaching a fine half-century. However, controversy struck with Agha's run-out, after which Pakistan collapsed from a comfortable 231/3 to 274 all out. Bangladesh shared the bowling effort, with Rishad Hossain the pick with three wickets, Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking two, while the three pacers chipped in with one each and a couple of run-outs capped off a solid fielding display.
Bangladesh fold under pressure - Bangladesh's chase never really got going, losing both openers quite early and slipping further into trouble at 27/3 in 6.3 overs before rain and lightning halted play. After a lengthy delay, the ground staff worked hard to get the game going again, with the revised target set at 243 in 32 overs. Bangladesh started well after the resumption, with Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy adding a 58-run stand, but once Das fell, it all went downhill. From 73/4, the rest of the batting lineup failed to respond, crumbling under the rising asking rate and eventually being bowled out for just 114.
Pakistan force the decider - Pakistan have levelled the series in style with a fantastic all-round performance. They have managed to overcome their recent struggles in Mirpur, snapping a run of four straight ODI defeats at this venue and forcing a decider. The visitors learned from their mistakes in the first game, improving with both bat and ball to secure a commanding 128-run victory. However, amid all the positives, one of the major talking points will still be the controversial run-out of Salman Agha, an incident that is likely to divide opinions across the cricketing world.

We are all set to resume the contest! Litton Das and Tawhid Hridoy have a huge job as they stride toward the center of the park to restart their inning. Shaheen Afridi will have the ball to finish off his over. So, if we talk about the revised condition, Powerplay 1 will be from 1-7 overs, then Powerplay 2 will be implemented from 8-26 overs, and after that, it will be Powerplay 3 from 27 to 32 overs. Let's play...
The players have started their warm-up drills. With a couple of water puddles on the ground, the ground staff needs another 40-45 minutes to get the ground ready. We have an official word now. It's going to be a 32-over chase, and the game will resume at 3.35 pm GMT. The revised target is 243.
UPDATE - 2.55 pm GMT - The live visual shows the umpires are out in the middle for an inspection and a chat with the ground staff. There is a flurry of activity happening on the ground. The COVERS ARE COMING OFF. For the game to be match-ready, the groundsmen need to remove the couple of water puddles formed, which will take some time. Mike Hesson and Shaheen Afridi join the umpires for a quick conversation.
UPDATE - 2.30 pm GMT - The good news is the rain has stopped, but the bad news is the lightning is still around. That is some optimistic news, but for the game to resume, we need the conditions to improve. Also, we have started losing overs as well. Let's hope we get some positive news soon.
UPDATE - 2.08 pm GMT - It’s absolutely bucketing down here in Dhaka. However, there is a 60-minute buffer, which means we will start losing overs if play doesn’t resume by 2.21 pm GMT. Stick with us for more news.
UPDATE - 1.42 pm GMT - Well, there it comes! We were hoping it was just lightning, and we would get to see the action resume, but it has started to drizzle now, and slowly its picking up pace. However, the forecast isn't showing any signs of rain, so let's cross fingers and hope that it's just a passing shower.
Game stopped due to : Bad Weather Condition
UPDATE - 1.20 pm GMT - Just as we were saying that it's not a major issue, the umpires have made a decision and asked the players to walk off the field due to lightning. Shaheen Afridi and his team are not happy as they are on top of this game, but the umpire explained that the players' safety is their first priority. The covers also come on as a safety measure if it starts to rain. Stay tuned for further updates.

A controversial moment in the game. A lot will be talked about this wicket, but for now, we move on. Hussain Talat replaces Salman Agha.
OUT! SALMAN AGHA IS RUN OUT! A huge moment in the game and a controversial one as well. Mehidy Hasan Miraz drops it short and on middle, Mohammad Rizwan punches it down the pitch. Mehidy moves to his right but Salman Agha gets in his way and the ball hits the non-striker's pad and stops. Agha bends down to pick up the ball and give it to the bowler, but before he can do that, Mehidy quickly grabs the ball and throws it at the stumps, with Agha standing out of his crease. There is an appeal for a run out, and even though Agha is not happy about it, the on-field umpire has to go upstairs. The replay shows that the batter is outside his crease and 'OUT' flashes on the big screen. Bangladesh were well within their rights to appeal for this, but the spirit of the game certainly takes a hit here. Mehidy Hasan Miraz leads the Bangladesh players out to the middle before they take up their respective field positions. Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat are the two openers for Pakistan. Taskin Ahmed has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Two slips in place as well. Let's play...
PITCH REPORT - Athar Ali Khan is pitchside. He says that there is a lot more grass left on the wicket than the last game. Adds that the bowlers will target the 6-8 meter area to get help from the surface. Athar mentions that it is hard and compact but expects even bounce. Ends by saying that the batters will also enjoy playing their shots as the ball will come onto the bat nicely.
The middle order needs to step up - Shaheen Afridi, the skipper of Pakistan, says the wicket looks good, green on the surface and a little bit hard. Reckons their batters know their mistake, they come harder and play their shots, and Afridi fully believes in them. Shares that they started well with the bat in the last match, but want to play in the middle overs and get a big total. Informs Haris Rauf replaces Abrar Ahmed.
Focus on their process - Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the captain of Bangladesh, states that he expects his bowlers to click as they were ruthless in the last match. Continues that Nahid Rana did great, taking many wickets, which was a blessing. They're looking for wickets in the first 10 overs again. After being asked what are the plans for this match, he says that he would like to seal the series which won't be easy. All matches have been challenging. Miraz wants the team to focus on their process and as a batting unit, take responsibility to score runs. Miraz describes the pitch as a great wicket to bat on, and praises Tanzid's batting. He says bowling well makes things easier for a captain. Ends up by saying that there is no team changes and they're sticking with the same team.
Pakistan (Playing XI) - Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat, Shamyl Hussain, Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Salman Agha, Hussain Talat, Abdul Samad, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi (C), Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf (In place of Abrar Ahmed).
Bangladesh (Unchanged Playing XI) - Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das (WK), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (C), Tawhid Hridoy, Afif Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Nahid Rana.
TOSS - The coin lands in favour of Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Bangladesh elect to BOWL first.
A seven-year wait ends! Bangladesh's performance reflected a team hungry for success after their forced absence from the world stage. The hosts capitalized on Pakistan's inexperience batting line-up, but winning the toss made a huge impact on that game, regardless of the fact that Shaheen Afridi would have opted to bat first anyway. But the resilience of the bowling unit of this side was just impeccable. This victory was particularly historic as it was Bangladesh's first ODI win over Pakistan since the 2018 Asia Cup and their largest-ever win against them in terms of wickets and balls remaining. With the series lead, Bangladesh has successfully set a positive tone for their road to the 2027 World Cup, while Pakistan faces immediate pressure to find consistency among their new-look top order. So folks, fasten your seatbelt as this enthralling match will begin shortly. Toss and team updates to follow.
The rebuilt crisis? Pakistan entered the series following a disappointing loss against the Bangla Tigers. They had four debuts in the very first game, which is also their most in an ODI since 2008, as they are looking to rebuild their structure. Their struggle for stability was evident in the 1st ODI, where only four of their batters got to double digits, and the maximum was scored by Faheem Ashraf (37 off 47 deliveries). Even after losing the previous encounter, Pakistan still dominate the head-to-head record by winning 34 matches out of 39 ODIs, which basically sums up the heritage this side holds, but the question is, will the newcomers click in this do-or-die scenario?
Warm welcome to all the readers - The first ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Mirpur marked a significant restart for both teams, as it was their first international encounter following the 2026 T20 World Cup phase. But today once again these Asian giants will lock their horns at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, where the Bangla Tigers will be looking forward to end the series by winning this clash, and on the other side, Pakistan's win will give them the chance to level it up.
... MATCHDAY ...
Series on the line in Mirpur - With the series on the line and plenty at stake beyond just this contest, Bangladesh and Pakistan return to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur for the second ODI of the three-match series. The hosts carry strong momentum after a commanding eight-wicket win in the opener, where Bangladesh's bowling once again proved their biggest strength. Nahid Rana's fiery 5/24 ripped through Pakistan's inexperienced batting lineup, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided control through the middle overs before Tanzid Hasan's fluent 67 not out guided the chase with ease. Tigers roaring at home - Bangladesh have built a reputation in recent years for being extremely difficult to beat in home conditions, particularly on Mirpur's surfaces where their combination of seamers and spinners often thrives. Najmul Hossain Shanto will again be key at the top of the order, while captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz remains the side's most reliable all-round performer with his ability to influence games with both bat and ball. Litton Das also remains a crucial figure in the batting unit with his ability to anchor or accelerate depending on the situation, while Tawhid Hridoy's aggressive middle-order strokeplay could provide the momentum Bangladesh often look for in the middle overs. Firepower with the ball - With the ball, Mustafizur Rahman's variations and the raw pace of Nahid Rana give the hosts multiple wicket-taking options on a surface that showed signs of offering both seam movement and bounce in the first game. Taskin Ahmed's ability to hit the deck hard and extract extra bounce adds further bite to the pace attack, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain provides a valuable wicket-taking option through the middle overs with his attacking approach. Bangladesh’s bowling attack looked balanced and disciplined in the opening match, keeping Pakistan under constant pressure and ensuring the target never grew beyond reach. Transition phase for Pakistan - For Pakistan, this series represents the beginning of a transitional phase. The visitors arrived in Bangladesh with a new-look squad that excluded several established names, including Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz, while Shaheen Shah Afridi leads a side featuring multiple debutants trying to establish themselves at the international level. One of the young players attracting attention is Maaz Sadaqat, who was named Player of the Tournament at the 2025 ACC Men's Asia Cup Rising Stars in Doha and is regarded as one of Pakistan's promising emerging talents and showed glimpses of his talent in the first game. Their biggest concern from the first ODI was the fragile batting display, with only Faheem Ashraf and Sahibzada Farhan showing resistance as the rest of the lineup struggled against disciplined bowling. Pakistan search for stability - Pakistan will need stronger contributions from the likes of Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan, whose experience in the middle order could prove vital in stabilising the innings, while Mohammad Wasim adds value as a lower-order hitter alongside his pace with the ball. Abrar Ahmed also needs to take up more responsibility being the go-to spinner in the team. Afridi remains Pakistan's biggest threat with the new ball, capable of breaking partnerships early, and if conditions again favour pace and bounce, the visitors could consider bringing Haris Rauf into the XI to inject extra speed and aggression into the attack. Team Form (Last 5 completed ODIs, most recent first) - Bangladesh - WWLWL | Pakistan - LWWWW. ODI rivalry through the years - Bangladesh's most recent ODI series win over Pakistan came in emphatic fashion in 2015, when they swept the visitors 3-0 in Mirpur. That result marked a significant moment in the rivalry, as Pakistan had largely dominated the bilateral contests (3 or more matches) before that. The visitors recorded 3-0 and 5-0 series wins in 2002 and 2003, followed by another 5-0 triumph in 2008 and a 3-0 victory in 2011, underlining how the balance of power had long tilted in their favour before Bangladesh's breakthrough. The bigger picture for Bangladesh - Beyond the immediate contest, the stakes are also significant for Bangladesh in the bigger ODI landscape. The Tigers are currently ranked 10th in the ICC ODI rankings and will need consistent results to push themselves back into the top tier. The rankings carry major implications because the qualification pathway for the 2027 ODI World Cup will award direct spots to the top eight teams, excluding hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe, by the qualification cut-off. That makes every bilateral series crucial, and victories like the one in the first ODI against Pakistan could help Bangladesh climb back up the table and strengthen their case for direct qualification. With Mirpur historically being a fortress for the Tigers and Pakistan searching for stability in a rebuilding phase, the second ODI promises to be a fascinating contest between a confident home side pushing for rankings progress and a young Pakistan unit eager to bounce back and keep the series alive.
