Nadaun is constituency number forty of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It is one of the five Assembly seats of Himachal's Hamirpur district apart from Bhoranj, Sujanpur, Hamirpur and Barsar. It is one of the seventeen Assembly seats that make up the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency. The Nadaun Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs). In 2017, Congress candidate Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu defeated BJP's Vijay Agnihotri by 2,349 votes. In 2022, Sukhu is again pitted against Agnihotri. AAP's Shankey Thukral and BSP's Desh Raj are also contesting from the same constituency.
