Nahan is constituency number fifty-six of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It is one of the five Assembly seats of Himachal's Sirmaur district apart from Pachhad, Sri Renukaji, Paonta Sahib and Shillai. It is one of the seventeen Assembly seats that make up the Shimla Lok Sabha constituency. The Nahan Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for Scheduled Castes (SCs) or Scheduled Tribes (STs).
