Commentary

And that's a wrap! Bangladesh have emerged victorious, clinching the series 2-1. Litton Das is now making his way to collect the trophy, joining his teammates for a well-deserved photo session. That's all from us for this series. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and analysis. For more cricketing action from around the world, like the New Zealand and West Indies Test series, India versus South Africa ODI series, or the ILT20 2025-26, which is starting today in a short while, feel free to switch tabs and stay tuned. Thank you for watching, and cheers!

Bangladesh's victorious skipper, Litton Das, says that the boys played really well. Continues that the bowlers did a very good job, especially in the middle overs. Adds that Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain were their main bowlers, and it's because of them, the team was able to restrict the opposition to a below-par total. Mentions that whoever plays in the BPL, if they play their best cricket, it will help the international side immensely. Ends up by thanking the Chattogram crowd for filling up the stadium and showing support, even though they could not deliver against the West Indies. He asks them to always support like this because the players also enjoy playing on this ground.

Mahedi Hasan is the Player of the Series for his 4 wickets in 2 games and for being very economical. He says that he is trying his best to contribute. Adds that he didn't start well in the last game or this game, but came back well in the middle overs, which is important in this format. Mentions that he didn't play the first game, where there was a lot of dew and as this was a day game, there was no dew and he tried to use his variations. Says that as a finger spinner, it is difficult for him, but he works hard to improve his skills every game.

Tanzid Hasan is the Player of the Match for his exemplary batting performance and 5 catches on the field. He starts by thanking the Almighty. Continues that he is feeling happy as he took five catches and batted well. Also says that he and his teammates enjoyed it a lot. He ends up by saying that he was just trying to middle the deliveries while batting, and when Emon came, they decided to finish off the match together.

Paul Stirling, skipper of Ireland, says that it felt like they just ran out of steam. Adds that they started well, but from overs 6 to 12, they just couldn't get enough runs and kept losing wickets. Mentions that plenty of positives to take, but also a few areas to improve. Ends by saying that they really enjoyed their stay here in Bangladesh.

Time for the Presentation Ceremony...

Earlier in the inning, after winning the toss and selecting to bat first, Ireland began their innings strongly, with Paul Stirling setting the pace at 50/1 in just five overs. However, the momentum soon waned as wickets fell consistently. Despite Stirling’s efforts to anchor the innings, he was eventually dismissed for 38 off 27 balls, the top score. Bangladesh's bowlers initially struggled but found their rhythm with Shoriful Islam taking an early wicket. The game changed when Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Harry Tector in the final over of the Powerplay. Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman excelled as they claimed three wickets each. With seven batters scoring in single figures, Ireland stumbled to a total of just 117.

Following the Powerplay, Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan took charge of the innings, skillfully rotating the strike and adding a few boundaries to their tally. When the drinks break was called at the midway point, Bangladesh found themselves in a strong position, requiring just 39 runs off 60 deliveries. From that point on, it was simply a question of how quickly these two batters could seal the victory. The bowlers of Ireland didn't really have many runs on the board to defend. Yes, if they kept the pressure on the batters in the Powerplay, things might turn differently, but Harry Tector and Craig Young stand out among the six bowlers who got a wicket each.

The Bangladesh openers launched into the second innings with an electrifying start. Their primary objective was to make the most of the Powerplay, and they accomplished it brilliantly. Although they faced setbacks with the loss of Saif and skipper Litton, they still amassed an impressive 48 runs by the end of the Powerplay.

THE COMEBACK IS COMPLETE! Bangladesh lost their first match of the series, but Litton Das and his company made sure to win two back-to-back matches to get their hands on the glory. Well, in this match, the credit goes to the bowling unit. It's because of them, they were able to bowl out Ireland for 117, and the batters did the rest of the job to win it by 8 wickets with 38 balls to spare.

13.44

FOUR! Parvez Hossain Emon has ended the chase in style! Short of a length, on middle and off. Emon rocks back and pulls it delightfully towards the deep square leg fence for four runs. Bangladesh beat Ireland by 8 wickets and win the series 2-1.

13.30

On a length, outside off, Parvez Hossain Emon looks to slog it away, but ends up blocking it to his front.

13.21

On a length, just outside off, Tanzid Hasan pushes it back to the bowler. Craig Young fails to get it and the batter gets a single.

13.16

SIX! FIFTY FOR TANZID! What a way to bring his 11th T20I half-century. This one is on a length, around off. Tanzid Hasan stays tall and clubs it over the wide long on fence for a biggie. He has taken five catches in the first inning and now scored a half-century. What a day this man is having.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The players are already out on the middle now. Tanzid Hasan and Saif Hassan are the two openers for Bangladesh. Ireland going with spin straightaway as Matthew Humphreys will start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Bangladesh did start a little loosely with their lines and lengths, though Shoriful Islam did strike early to provide the breakthrough. The real shift in momentum came when Mustafizur Rahman was introduced for the final over of the Powerplay and dismissed Harry Tector. From there on, Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain tightened the screws as the pitch offered a hint of turn, with Rishad producing a superb spell to claim three crucial wickets, while Mahedi chipped in with one of his own. The Irish batters were given no breathing space as scoring became increasingly difficult. Mustafizur returned in his second spell to add two more to his tally, and Mohammad Saifuddin finished the job with one of his own to round off a thoroughly dominant bowling display. Adding to Ireland’s misery, the ball seemed to follow just one man in the field - Tanzid Hasan, who snapped up five catches in the match. Now, it is the turn of the batters to gun down this below-par score and seal the series. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

Rishad Hossain of Bangladesh is up for a quick chat. He says that it is his role to bowl in the middle overs and get wickets. Adds that he has worked on his variations, and it is paying off now. Mentions that they have BPL before the World Cup, so whatever fine-tuning they need, the players can do in that tournament, but feels they are ready for the big event. Ends by saying that he is confident that the batters will chase this down and they will win the series.

Ireland began briskly, with Paul Stirling setting the tempo at the top as they surged to 50/1 inside five overs. But the momentum fizzled out soon after. While the skipper tried to anchor the innings, wickets kept tumbling at the other end, with batters getting starts but failing to build on them. The pressure kept mounting and eventually Stirling was forced into a risky shot, falling for 38 off 27, the top score of the innings. George Dockrell chipped in with a few handy runs late on, but with seven batters stuck in single figures, Ireland were always behind the curve and were eventually bundled out for 117.

Bangladesh have produced a commanding bowling display in this series decider, and you would say they now have one hand firmly on the trophy. It is just the kind of performance they would have hoped for in their final T20I before turning their focus to the 2026 World Cup.

19.5W

OUT! TAKEN! Mohammad Saifuddin gets his name written on the wicket list. This one is full and outside off, Ben White opens his stance to heave it across, but fails to get the connection under the delivery. The ball skies toward the long on region and it's none other than Tanzid Hasan who moves to his right to take his fifth catch of the match. Ireland are all out for 117 runs on the board.

19.41

Short, outside off, Craig Young pulls it to long on for one.

19.31

Yorker, on off, Ben White jams it to wide of point for a single.

19.21

On a length, outside of, Craig Young drills it to long off for one.

19.10

Yorker, on off, Craig Young clears his front foot to slog it away, but the ball catches the inside edge and bumps on the track, just before hitting the boots and loops toward the cover region, where the fielder takes the catch. The two umpires sent it to upstairs as they were confused whether the ball bumped off the boots or not. The third umpire shows that the ball clearly bumped off the track.

Can Bangladesh put the cherry on the top and bowl Ireland out? It will be Mohammad Saifuddin to bowl the last over.

Full-length delivery, around off, George Dockrell plants his front foot away from delivery and tries to lash it over the long off fence, but fails to generate the power. The ball loops toward the right of Tanzid, stationed in the long off region, and he does the formalities. Ireland are 110/9 now.

OUT!

DRINKS! Bangladesh are in control of things at the halfway mark. The spinners have put the squeeze on after the Powerplay, and they have managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals, putting pressure on the visitors. Ireland got off to a good start, but just like in the second game, their innings has derailed a bit. Lorcan Tucker gets down on one knee and attempts to reverse sweep it, but misses the shot and the ball hits the front of the pad. The UltraEdge shows no bat involvement and the Ball Tracking shows three reds with the delivery hitting the leg stump. The on-field decision has been changed to OUT. What a review from Bangladesh. Ireland slips from 50/1 to 51/3.

PITCH REPORT - Ed Rainsford is analyzing the pitch, and he's highlighting that it's a day game with a noticeable breeze blowing across the ground, making it ideal for batters hitting towards the electronic scoreboard. The pitch, which has seen plenty of runs in the series, has patchy grass coverage, making it play a bit two-paced. Batters will need to assess the pace early and be decisive. Given the daylight conditions, Rainsford suggests the par score is around 170.

Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Litton Das (C/WK), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan, Tawhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain (In place of Nurul Hasan), Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain (In place of Nasum Ahmed), Shoriful Islam (In place of Tanzim Hasan Sakib).

Ireland (Playing XI) - Paul Stirling (C), Tim Tector, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker (WK), Curtis Campher (In place of Curtis Campher), George Dockrell, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair, Matthew Humphreys, Craig Young (In place of Barry McCarthy), Ben White (In place of Josh Little).

TOSS - The coin lands in the favour of Paul Stirling for the second time in row in this series. Ireland have elected to BAT first again.

The match promises to be an intense one, with both teams looking to gain the upper hand. Will Bangladesh's home advantage and momentum be too much for Ireland, or will the visitors pull off a surprise win? Stay tuned to find out!

Ireland, on the other hand, will be looking to pull off a stunning upset and take the series. They had a strong start, with Paul Stirling and Tim Tector putting on 75 for the opening wicket, but Bangladesh's bowlers tightened up to restrict them to 170/6. Can Ireland regroup and come out strong, or will Bangladesh seal the series?

Bangladesh will be looking to ride the momentum from their last win, where they fought hard to chase down Ireland's total of 170/6. Mahedi Hasan's 3/25 and Litton Das' 57 were key to their victory.

Hello and welcome to the thrilling conclusion of the Bangladesh vs Ireland T20I series! After a nail-biting last-over win that levelled the series, Bangladesh is all set to take on Ireland in the third and final T20I at the Bir Shrestha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram.

... MATCHDAY ...

2 matches done, series level 1-1. Surprised? One ought to be, especially if the fan is a supporter of Bangladesh cricket. Often not being kept in the same mould as the 'big' nations, Bangladesh usually enjoy a healthy record at home in every format. Leave aside the previous series against West Indies, where the Caribbeans whitewashed them, they have not lost a home series in T20Is since March 2024. Which is why, their big loss in the first T20I to Ireland comes more of a shock than a surprise. However, their comeback in the second game was phenomenal, though the bowling still seems to be a bit of a concern. That brings the pitch into equation. This is officially Bangladesh's last series in any format before the T20 World Cup in February and normally, in this side of the world, one sees pitches which are sluggish and turning in nature. But maybe, just maybe, because of the World Cup angle, the recent pitches have been prepared to try and make the players acclimatize to what they could get in the mega tournament. It is a good thing, in a way, but confidence is also needed. Having won just 1 of their last 5 T20Is does not give them confidence and that is one thing skipper Litton Das will want to correct before ending this series. There is no question of inexperience at all, as the big names and the consistent ones have been in the circuit for more than 2 years now and delivering as well. So it has got to come down to adaptation and accordingly, loss of form. The batters showed their form in the previous game and now, it is time for the bowlers to demonstrate that irrespective of how flat the pitch might be, they can adapt and deliver as well. Coming to Ireland, hello - they are also a part of the T20 World Cup, right? So why focus only on the home team? For them, this is a very good series to practice for the mega event, which would be played in similar conditions. And fairplay to them, despite struggling in this format for a while now, they have given a good account of themselves in both the matches of this series. They were overpowered in the Tests but that is history for now. The main focus would be the upcoming World Cup and a series win would put them in great shape for the tournament, especially looking at their group which has Australia, Sri Lanka, Oman and Zimbabwe. If the Irish do manage to win the series here, they would fancy themselves to go into the second round looking at that group. As always, the batting usually stamps its authority but in the first game, the bowlers actually made use of the conditions nicely. They are getting some decent spinners in their ranks but dew let them down in the last match. However, given that the third match is an afternoon game, the batters could actually have a trial by spin. That might have us see an extra spinner in the ranks of both teams - not that Bangladesh need the pitch to see that combination. Despite the loss in the first game, Bangladesh start as favourites but if Ireland batters manage to play out the home side's spinners well, we could actually have a cracker of what can be called as a finale.
