Commentary
Welcome back for the chase. The Indians are in a huddle with KL Rahul doing all the talking. With no Ryan Rickelton in the side for this game, Aiden Markram walks out to open alongside Quinton de Kock. Arshdeep Singh will start the attack for India. Arshdeep to Markram with a slip in place. Here we go!
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, the game is interestingly poised at the halfway mark. With dew likely to play a role later in the evening, India will want to strike early while there is still something on offer with the new ball under the lights. As for South Africa, they showed in Ranchi just how deep their batting goes. They will be mindful of keeping wickets in hand and setting up the chase. Back in a bit for the second essay.
Ruturaj Gaikwad is in for a chat. Shares that he was gutted to not perform in the previous match but today he is fortunate enough to perform well for the team. Adds that the condition of the track suited his style. Continues that it's a dream to bat with a player like Virat Kohli. He was guiding him throughout the inning about where to assess the gaps and when to go harsh on the bowlers. Ends up saying that before the game, they were planning to put over 350 on the board if they bat first, and they are very happy to get it. He also states that there was a lot of dew the previous night, and hopes that it's less today.
In the death overs, the South African pacers continued their strong fightback. They bowled into the pitch, took the pace off, and made scoring difficult for India. A crucial moment that might well come back to haunt the tourists was the dropped chance of KL Rahul on 46 by Matthew Breetzke. With Rahul and Jadeja being the last recognised pair, and Jadeja struggling to find any rhythm, a wicket at that stage could have made a significant difference to the eventual total.
During the middle overs, South Africa never managed to build sustained pressure. The Indian pair kept the scoreboard moving with regular ones and twos, punctuated by the occasional boundary. Gaikwad shifted gears after reaching his fifty, racing from 50 to 100 in just 25 balls to bring up his maiden ODI ton. Soon after, Kohli brought up his second consecutive century. South Africa finally enjoyed a productive phase when they dismissed both centurions, along with Sundar, in the space of a few overs. Nandre Burger limping off added to their concerns, but Aiden Markram stepped up admirably.
Earlier, after losing their 20th toss in a row in ODIs, India were asked to bat first. Unlike the track in Ranchi, it was not easy to hit through the line early on and felt two-paced, though it gradually improved as the innings progressed. Both Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger found some early swing, but their lack of control meant they gave away extras. By the end of the first Powerplay, the Proteas had sent both Indian openers back, but that was as good as it got for them through the majority of the middle overs. Virat Kohli picked up exactly where he had left off in Ranchi, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, after battling against the short ball early on, grew steadily in confidence.
India do end up with 358, but for the second game in a row, they will feel they left a few runs out there. With dew expected later in the evening, they would certainly have preferred a cushion of 15 to 20 extra runs, and now it will be up to their bowlers to ensure that the shortfall does not prove costly. 18 runs came off the final over, making it the most expensive over of the innings. In a way, that somewhat spoiled the good work South Africa had produced at the death up until that point. However, considering the Proteas were not at their best with either the ball or in the field for much of the innings, they will still feel they have restricted the hosts to a manageable total.

Ravindra Jadeja is very quick and he will come back for two and India do end on a high. Banged in short over off, KL Rahul hangs back and pulls it flat down to long on for a couple of runs. 18 runs off the final over, the most expensive one of the innings and India end with a big total of 358/5 on the board.
SIX! Wow, KL Rahul has nearly swept a pacer here. Full and darted into the pads, Rahul sits down and slogs it away over deep square leg for a biggie.
FOUR! That's a good shot and the 350 also comes up for India. Bosch misses the mark with the yorker again and serves a half volley on leg stump. Rahul hangs back and smacks it over mid off for four more.
Goes full again and gets it much straighter around the leg stump. Jadeja digs it out into the off side and picks up a single.
FOUR! Up and over! Overpitched on off, in the slot, Ravindra Jadeja hangs back and clears the front leg before hammering it over mid off for a boundary.
Good work from QDK behind the stumps! Goes for the leg stump yorker but just drifts it down leg. KL Rahul misses the flick and the ball goes off the pads but de Kock dives to his left and saves a boundary. Just a leg bye.
Corbin Bosch will bowl the final over. South Africa have been penalised for not completing their overs on time. They will be allowed only 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle.

Excellent bowling from Lungi Ngidi at the death. Slower ball, on a good length and at the stumps. Jadeja looks to come forward and swipe across the line but miscues it badly and back onto the deck.
Full ad straight, nails the slower yorker, Rahul goes deep in his crease and drills it down to long on for just a single.
Takes pace off again and bowls it on a length wide outside off. Jadeja shapes up for the lap again but adjusts and taps it to point for a quick single. The 50-run stand is also up between these two.
Hard length, cutting in from outside off, Rahul backs away and smacks it square through the off side for a single.
Nicely bowled! A deceptive slower ball, slightly into the deck and outside off. KL Rahul looks to pull but is through his shot early and is beaten all ends up.
A slower yorker, wide outside off and lands it right on the popping crease. Ravindra Jadeja thinks about the lap but ends up squeezing it out towards backward point for a single.

Dug in slightly short and on leg, KL Rahul sets up for the reverse lap and gets the perfect length as well but misses out as he looks to go hard at it.
Goes full and angles it into the legs, no room for Jadeja, who jams it just into the leg side and picks up a single.
Pitches the ball full on off stump, Rahul backs away and smacks it down to long off for a single.
Good running! Full and around leg, Rahul misses the flick and the ball thuds into the pads. The ball rolls towards the vacant mid-wicket region as the bowler goes up in appeal. The batters recognize this and set off for the second run and get it with ease as well. A couple of leg byes.
FOUR! FIFTY up for the Indian skipper, two in a row for him as well. Short of a length, well wide outside off, KL Rahul hangs back and slashes it away, up and over backward point for a boundary.
Banged in well short over off, slower too, Ravindra Jadeja gets on top of the bounce and pulls it firmly to deep square leg for one.

A slower bouncer now, over middle, Jadeja pulls it across to deep mid-wicket for a single. Just 10 runs off the last 2 overs and no boundaries.
Oh, Jadeja confused himself with that attempt! Pre-meditated and Jadeja sets up for the lap but Ngidi sees it coming and takes pace off, bowling it full and around off and Jadeja ends up just awkwardly bunting it down to short third.
Just back of a length and around off, Rahul rocks back and punches it through covers but for just another single.
Commentary
Right then, after a couple of high-scoring encounters and the series level at 1-1, we move into the summit clash. The 3rd and final ODI will be played in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, 6 December. It is another ground that generally sees bigger scores and it should be a fascinating contest. That game will begin at 1.30 pm IST (8 am GMT) but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Cheers!
Aiden Markram is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his fine century. Aiden starts by saying that it was a bit of a challenge early on but he needed to get in the game and everyone knew that the middle order had a lot of prowess and it showed. Adds that once he and Temba Bavuma felt they were set, they decided to play their shots and that was also the case with Matthew Breetzke and says that he is proud of the boys who took them over the line. Reckons that they have 8 really good batters and Keshav Maharaj can also do a job with the bat, and is happy that the middle order continues to put their hand up but it is now time for the top order to fire a bit more.
The captain of South Africa, Temba Bavuma says he is happy to have crossed the line and that the team came into this game thinking about how they could improve. He feels the top three set a much better platform this time, with Aiden Markram and Matthew Breetzke carrying the innings well and Corbin Bosch showing great maturity. Overall, he believes it was a much better showing from the batting group. He calls it an unbelievable game and says it shows just how well they need to play to come out on top against this Indian side. Shares that the plan between him and Markram was to take the game deep, and the move to send Dewald Brevis in early worked in their favour. He adds that there is a lot of confidence the team can take going forward. Bavuma tells that the players here are undoubtedly the best available, and the competition within the squad is at a very high level. Further says that with Quinton de Kock also coming back into the mix, the batters know they are scrambling for places, and both batters and bowlers understand they have to be at their best to hold onto their spots. States that Tony de Zorzi and Nandre Burger do not look too good with their hamstring issues, and if needed, the team has other players ready to step in and do the job on Saturday.
The Indian skipper, KL Rahul, says that considering everything - the dew and how difficult it is to bowl second here, it wasn't a tough pill to swallow and the umpires were also kind enough to change the ball regularly. Jokes about losing the toss again but then goes on to say that they need to always think about what they could have done better. Reckons that even though they got 350, they could have got 20 more runs and the bowlers bowled well but the fielding needs to tighten up as well. Goes on to applaud the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Virat Kohli and says that both of them batted wonderfully and also adds that the tempo from Ruturaj was excellent. Rahul also says that he was slotted in at number 6 but given the situation, the coach and he himself felt it was the right time to walk in at number 5.
The Presentation ceremony...
South Africa's hero at the death, Corbin Bosch, is in for a chat. He says that he told Keshav Maharaj to stay calm and run hard, and that there was always a belief in the team that they could chase anything. Shares that the top order set it up beautifully, making it much easier for the rest of the guys to finish it off. Adds that the wicket felt quite sticky when the outfield was dry, but once the ball got wet, it became a lot easier to score in the dewy conditions.
Earlier in the game, Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bowl first on a surface that looked abrasive to begin with. However, India got off to a flier in the first Powerplay. South Africa did get a couple of wickets inside the first 11 overs but then came the monumental stand between Virat Kohli and Ruturaj Gaikwad worth 195 runs. Both batters ended up getting a century but got out soon after and KL Rahul had to dig deep. Lungi Ngidi bowled really well in the middle phase and at the death but a half century from Rahul and a costly final over from Corbin Bosch took India past 350.
The likes of Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh continued to fight with the ball for India but Corbin Bosch played a handy cameo and, with the help of an experienced Keshav Maharaj at the other end, took his side over the line, remaining unbeaten on 29 off just 15 balls. What a blessing it is to have someone like Corbin Bosch coming to bat at number 8.
Breetzke continued to keep a cool head but it was a quickfire half-century from Dewald Brevis at the other end that took South Africa into a position of power. Breetzke too notched up a 7th score of 50 or more in just 11 ODI innings. However, things changed quickly as the Proteas lost 3 wickets in the space of 4 overs and then Tony de Zorzi got retired hurt as well. At that time, it looked like one more wicket could get India well on top of proceedings.
Prasidh Krishna snaffled Bavuma just 4 runs short of his fifty but Matthew Breetzke came in and played an anchoring knock as Markram kept on peppering the bowlers. Markram notched up a ton but got out and India seemed to be pushing the required rate up for some time thanks to Rana's little spell in the middle phase.
Chasing a massive total of 359, South Africa began watchfully and lost Quinton de Kock in the process as well. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana both were bowling well but Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma fought back with a century stand as the Indian spinners couldn't quite get into the game.
An absolute humdinger of a contest but in the end, it is South Africa who win the game and level the series at 1-1. India fought well against the dew but couldn't find enough consistency with the ball to take them over the line. Just the 3rd time South Africa have chased a target in excess of 350 runs and it is just the second time India have failed to defend a target of 350 or more.
FOUR! Corbin Bosch comes up with the winning runs! He could not take the team over the line in Ranchi, but he has done so here in Raipur. This is full, angled in at the stumps. Corbin presents the full face of the bat and times the drive to the left of mid on for a boundary. Bosch punches the air in delight. South Africa ace a big chase to draw level in the series!
Two is the call, and they will get it. Scores are now level. Krishna nails the yorker, on middle, Bosch hurriedly gets his bat down. Squeezes out an inside edge to the right of deep fine leg for a couple of runs.
3 needed off the final over. It should be Prasidh Krishna to bowl the final over but you never know. Ravindra Jadeja also has overs up his sleeve. It will be Prasidh. Can he conjure up something magical?

Switches to over the wicket and lands it nice and full, on middle. Corbin brings his bat out in front and wrists it through mid-wicket for another single. Just 3 required off the final over for South Africa.
Pitched up, on off, Maharaj gets his hands through and drives it to long off for a single. South Africa are now just one hit away.
A well-directed bumper, around the left shoulder. Keshav Maharaj swings at it but is beaten for pace. Given as the second bouncer of the over.
Arshdeep bends his back and digs it in short, over off. Keshav Maharaj stands tall and swivels to pull it to the left of deep square leg for a couple of runs. 5 more needed for the Proteas.
Another short ball, over middle and leg. Corbin pulls it to deep backward square leg asnd crosses over.
India have been penalised for slow over rate. They will be allowed only 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle. Slower bumper, around leg, Bosch is beaten on the pull.

Pace on, on a length, outside off, Bosch leans on and firms the drive between extra cover and long off. Yashasvi Jaiswal is quick to cover ground to his left at long off and keeps the batters down to a single. 7 runs off the over without taking any risk. South Africa need just 8 more runs.
350 comes up for South Africa! Rana bowls the off-cutter, fuller and outside off, Maharaj drops it in front of point and Bosch calls him through for a quick single. Prasidh Krishna was caught on his heels there and Rana is not happy at all.
Off-pace delivery, short and wide on off, Bosch flat bats it down to long off for one more.
This is on a hard length, on top of off, Keshav hangs on the back foot and taps it between cover and mid off for a single. Jaiswal moves to his left, collects and has a shy at the bowling end but misses. It would have been close had the throw hit.
Wide! A sharp and quick bumper, over middle. Maharaj arches back and lets it be. Wide given for height, much to the surprise of Rana.
Off-cutter into the surface, it would have been a wide had Bosch left it. He reaches out and cuts it to deep cover for another single.
Hurls it on a back of a length, around off, Maharaj pats it through covers and crosses over.

Tucks the batter up for room, on a short of a length, Maharaj nudges it off the back foot to mid-wicket.
Arshdeep switches to around the wicket and lands it on a back of a length, on middle. Maharaj stays leg side of the ball and pushes it to cover.
Short ball, over the right shoulder, Corbin gets his hands high and rides the bounce. Plays a controlled pull shot through mid-wicket for a run.
On a good length, on top of off, Maharaj taps it with a straight bat in front of mid off for a single.

Full and on off, Maharaj tries to ease it through the off side but miscues it off the inner half towards long on for one. 18 more needed for South Africa to draw level in the series.
Takes pace off and this is bowled into the surface, over off and middle. Bosch drags the pull through mid-wicket and turns the strike over.
FOUR! Gets it fine enough! Rana goes searching for the yorker and ends up serving a low full toss on the pads with fine leg inside the circle. Bosch just tickles it to the right of short fine leg for a boundary.
Pace taken off, into the wicket, over middle. Bosch swivels and hangs low to shovel it in front of short fine leg. Gets across to the other end as Arshdeep Singh fires in a throw at the bowling end but misses. The ball races towards long off, where Virat Kohli mops it up but he cannot prevent the batters from running one more on the overthrow.
Goes short, under the left armpit. Maharaj helps it down to deep fine leg for a single.
Lands it on a length, on off, Keshav covers the line and blocks it off.
Harshit Rana is back into the attack. He has two overs remaining.

FOUR! Just what South Africa would have wanted. Arshdeep goes for the wide yorker but ends up bowling a low full toss. Corbin Bosch does well to reach the ball and manages to power it away well wide of deep covers for a boundary. 27 needed now off 30 balls.
Tony de Zorzi is down in serious pain. It looks like he has pulled up with a hamstring issue in his right leg. Keshav Maharaj is waiting on the sidelines as de Zorzi continues to receive attention from the physio. And in case you missed it, Nandre Burger also pulled up with a hamstring problem earlier during South Africa’s bowling effort. Tony is back on his feet now and has taken a pain-relieving pill. The southpaw is going to carry on.
Oh, no, no, no! Tony de Zorzi seems to be in agonizing pain as he turns for the second run and barely manages to complete it. Full and around off, Corbin Bosch drives it towards deep cover and picks up a couple of runs but it seems like de Zorzi has done his hamstring and this could be a huge blow to the Proteas and another twist in the tale here.
FOUR! Oh, a bit unlucky for the fielder but a good shot from Corbin Bosch. Short ball over leg stump, Bosch rolls his wrists on the pull shot to keep it down and firms it to the right of deep square leg. Ravindra Jadeja races across and gets to the ball but doesn't collect it cleanly and it goes for a boundary.
Corbin Bosch is the new man in.
OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, deary me! Is there a comeback on the cards? Arshdeep Singh look to go full and pitches the ball up on off stump. Marco Jansen hangs deep in the crease and looks to loft it down the ground but gets no power behind it. The ball travels straight down the throat of long off and Ruturaj Gaikwad makes no mistake. Two quick wickets for India and South Africa now need 37 off 33.
In the air but falls short! This is banged in short by Arshdeep. Tony de Zorzi sets up to pull but the ball holds in the deck and de Zorzi ends up getting a top edge around mid-wicket. Washington Sundar comes charging in from the deep but bails out and lets the ball bounce. Single taken and Arshdeep is unhappy with the effort.
Misses the yorker completely and serves a full toss that angles into the batter. Tony de Zorzi is a bit taken aback but jams it through mid-wicket and races back for the second run.
Arshdeep Singh (7-0-33-1) is back into the attack.

OUT! LBW! A big and prolonged appeal for LBW and eventually, the umpire's finger is raised. Prasidh Krishna goes for the straight yorker once again and gets it spot-on this time. Matthew Breetzke looks to flick it away but plays all over it and the ball beats the inside edge to hit the pads. Breetzke does review it and the third umpire is called in. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Breetzke departs for a well-made 68 (64) and South Africa need 42 off 37 balls with 5 wickets in hand. This game isn't over yet.
Brilliant running yet again! Goes full and straight and nearly gets the yorker perfect, Breetzke manages to dig it out between deep square leg and deep mid-wicket and also picks up a couple of runs.
Length ball around off, Tony de Zorzi stays leg side of the ball and lofts it down to wide long off for a single.
A bit slower and straighter, back of a length, Breetzke covers the line and punches it back past the bowler for a single.
Short of a good length on the pads, tucked away off the hips and down to deep backward square leg for a couple of runs.

SIX! Tony de Zorzi ends the over in style and maybe Kuldeep Yadav got a bit greedy on that final delivery. This is tossed up on middle and leg, right in the slot, de Zorzi gets under it and slog sweeps it handsomely in front of mid-wicket for a biggie. 48 needed now off 42 balls.
Slightly short on middle and leg, Breetzke stays low to pull but mistimes it in front of mid-wicket for one and instantly lets out a frustrated 'NO.'
We are going to have a ball change. The South African pair do not look particularly pleased, but Rod Tucker is convinced that the ball is wet enough to warrant a replacement. The replacement has been picked and we are all good to go.
Good shot and equally well-fielded. Shorter and outside off, turning away, Tony de Zorzi backs away and slaps it well wide of long off. Yashasvi Jaiswal sprints across the turf and puts in the dive to save the boundary but the batters do well to pick up three runs.
On a dragged length on leg, Breetzke makes room and hits it down to long on for another single.
Floated up, a bit full and straight, Breetzke blocks it off.
Flatter delivery on middle, de Zorzi moves to the off side but backs away and jams it back past the bowler for a single. The 300 also comes up for the Proteas.

FOUR! A poor delivery and it gets the treatment as well. Banged in short and down leg, that too with fine leg up inside the ring. Matthew Breetzke gets inside the line and pulls it well to the right of short fine leg for a boundary.

Another hold-up in the play. It seems like there's a lot of grass under Harshit Rana's shoes and Tilak Varma is out with a cleaning tool. Given the amount of dew, the last thing you want as a fast bowler is to slip while bowling. All's good and we are good to continue again.
Rolls his fingers over the ball again, but this is fuller, outside off, Dewald looks to force it through the off side but mistimes the shot to extra cover.
Rana continues to bang it in but does not offer any pace at all, over middle. Brevis ducks under it. Called second bouncer of the over.
Another slight halt in play. This time, for a mandatory concussion check, as Dewald Brevis is struck on the helmet. He does seem fine and the physio asks him a couple of questions before giving him the clearance. Also, one of the two balls is changed but it is the ball that is being used from the other end, not the end from where Harshit Rana is currently bowling.
Nicely bowled! At 113.6 kph, into the surface, over middle. Dewald Brevis is deceived by the slowness of the delivery and swings early for the pull. The ball goes over his blade and catches him on the grill of the helmet. Harshit is quick to check on the batter.

KL Rahul is quick to whip the bails off and is pretty convinced. The third umpire is called into action. The replays show that Breetzke's back leg did get dragged outside the crease but he managed to slide it back in before the stumps were broken.
Is that out? There is a big appeal for stumping and India feel they have their man. The third umpire is called in to have a look. Matthew Breetzke is the batter in question and after a couple of replays, the third umpire confirms that Breetzke just had his back leg inside the crease when the bails came off. NOT OUT!
Pushed across the right-hander, short and on off, Matthew Breetzke taps it to cover.
DRINKS BREAK! With the dismissal of Aiden Markram, the umpires have called for drinks. KL Rahul is seen having a word with the officials about the condition of the ball. India will be relieved to see the back of Markram, as South Africa had done a fine job keeping the required run rate in check and preventing the Indian bowlers from taking control. The game is nicely poised, and the next phase will be crucial for both teams. The hosts will want to bowl as much as possible to the new batter and try to push the required rate up. With Markram’s departure, the responsibility now falls on Matthew Breetzke to maintain the momentum until the incoming batter finds his rhythm. Dewald Brevis joins Breetzke out in the middle.

DROPPED, SIX! Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a mess of it. A lucky escape for Aiden Markram. This is dropped short by Kuldeep, on middle. Markram rocks on the back foot and looks to clear long on with a flat bat. Gets it right off the toe end of the bat and it goes only as far as long on, where Jaiswal fails to read the trajectory of the ball. Moreover, he is not entirely sure of where the rope is. He could have gone back a couple of steps and settled himself behind the ball. He stays side on and looks to take the catch with a leap to his right. Fails to cling on as the ball deflects off the fingertips and goes over the fence.

A ripper from Jadeja! Darted in from around the wicket, short and on off, Bavuma gets half-forward to deal with it but the ball straightens to rip past the outside edge. KL Rahul whips the bails off and it is referred upstairs. The replays show that Temba had his back leg grounded inside the crease when the bails were taken off.

Oh, a clean pick-up could have spelt trouble for Markram. Tossed up, on off, Temba lunges and drops it with soft hands in front of point. Yashasvi Jaiswal swoops in, bends and tries to release an underarm throw but fails to pick the ball up, allowing Temba to get home.
Offers flight, full and wide on off, Markram extends his hands and drills it to long off for a single.
DRINKS! A steady start to the run chase and the game seems to be nicely poised but India seem to have just a bit of an edge right now. The ball swung under the lights and both Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana created a few difficulties for the openers. South Africa will be happy to be just one down and would hope that Aiden Markram can now convert this half-century into a big score. They have a lot of hitting to come but Markram and Temba Bavuma need to up the ante and lay down a platform for the others. Should be an interesting middle phase, so let's get right to it.

Welcome back for the chase. The Indians are in a huddle with KL Rahul doing all the talking.

DRINKS BREAK! It has been an eventful first 15 overs of the game. South Africa lacked discipline upfront but still managed to pick up a couple of wickets by the end of the first Powerplay. Marco Jansen has looked the most threatening, troubling Ruturaj Gaikwad in particular, with the steep bounce he has extracted. The surface is not as easy for batting as the one in Ranchi, and even for Keshav Maharaj, some deliveries have turned while others have not, keeping the Indian batters guessing. Gaikwad and Virat Kohli have managed to stitch together a steady partnership and will now look to build a solid platform for the innings.

FOUR! Gaikwad is greeted with an absolute snorter. Jansen serves a sharp and quick bumper, right at the badge of the helmet. Gaikwad is beaten for pace and is caught in two minds whether to sway away or duck under it. Takes his eyes off the ball and is unable to drop his wrists in time. The ball pops up off his gloves. The keeper, Quinton de Kock went up in an appeal straight away and there was a noise. Not given by the umpire. Temba Bavuma has a word with the keeper and takes the review. All in readiness for the game to begin! The umpires make their way out to the middle and the Proteas can be seen waiting eagerly near the boundary ropes before taking to the field. It will be the duo Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal to open the innings for India once again. Jaiswal will take strike, and it will be Nandre Burger to start proceedings with the ball. A couple of slips to begin with. Let's play...
South Africa (Playing XI) - Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock (WK), Temba Bavuma (C) (In for Ryan Rickelton), Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj (In for Prenelan Subrayen), Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi (In for Ottneil Baartman).
India (Unchanged Playing XI) - Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul (C/WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
India's captain, KL Rahul says the most pressure he feels is during the toss, and it has been a long time since they have won one. He jokes that he has been practising for it, but it clearly has not been working. Reflecting on the last game, he feels the team did really well and there were a lot of positives to take forward. He adds that it is about coming out and playing hard cricket. Mentions that South Africa pushed them in the previous match, so they know exactly what to expect. Shares that this is the time of the year when dew is almost guaranteed, and they have spoken about it in team meetings. Further says that picking up early wickets becomes even more important in such conditions. Looking at the surface, he feels the wicket looks good. Tells that the only reason teams prefer chasing here is mostly because of the impact of dew later in the evening. Informs that they are unchanged for this game.
The captain of South Africa, Temba Bavuma, says that they will bowl first. Adds that the surface looks a bit on the drier side and they are hoping that the dew settles in during the chase and batting becomes a bit easier. Reckons that the belief is still there and they would like to start well with the bat. Informs that there are three changes with Keshav Maharaj, Lungi Ngidi and himself coming in, but there's no change in the combination.
TOSS - Temba Bavuma is back for the Proteas. He calls it correctly, and South Africa have elected to BOWL first.
PITCH REPORT - Deep Dasgupta and Shaun Pollock are pitchside. Deep says that the boundaries are 67 meters on either side and 74 meters in front. Adds that the surface looks good on the side that he's standing on, but Shaun Pollock at the other end says that on his side, the surface looks patchy and there will be uneven bounce as well. Reckons that the match won't be as high-scoring as the first ODI and there might be some reverse swing on offer late in the innings. Deep ends by saying that there will be dew and affirms that the toss will be crucial.
South Africa, meanwhile, find themselves with something to prove. Their top order faltered under pressure in the previous match, but the fight shown by the middle order was a major positive. Matthew Breetzke, Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch stepped up and nearly dragged the Proteas to an unlikely win. Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj were rested for the first ODI, but both are expected to return in Raipur, which will come as a much-needed boost for the visitors. With the series on the line, this is the moment for South Africa to rediscover their bite. Buckle up, folks, this showdown has all the elements for another blockbuster. Stay tuned for the toss and further updates.
For India, the confidence in the camp will be sky-high. Virat Kohli’s masterclass in the previous match has not only lifted the dressing-room energy but also reaffirmed his reputation as an ODI giant. Alongside him, Rohit Sharma's fluent start and the steady middle-order rhythm, provided by skipper KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, have given India the batting solidity they need. The way Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana bowled with the new ball in the first encounter would have pleased the Indian think tank. Kuldeep Yadav’s trickery kept South Africa on the back foot last time around, and he will once again be key to India maintaining their hold over the series.
Hello, and a very warm welcome to all the cricket fans joining us for the build-up. The stage is perfectly set at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur as India and South Africa gear up for the second ODI of this three-match series. India enter this match with momentum behind them, especially after their win in a thriller in Ranchi, while South Africa will be in search of a series-levelling win.
... MATCH DAY ...
All eyes shift to the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Raipur as India and South Africa lock horns in the second ODI, with the hosts holding a narrow 1-0 advantage. The series opener had all the ingredients of a classic - big scores, late twists and a nerve-wracking finish, setting the stage perfectly for another blockbuster encounter. India will be keen to press home their advantage early, while South Africa know that defeat here means that the series is over. For India, their biggest stars stood tall in Ranchi. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were back to their dominant best, combining assurance with authority at the top. Rohit breezed to another fluent half-century and also etched his name into the record books by becoming the highest six-hitter in ODI history, going past Shahid Afridi. But it was the ‘Ko’ in RoKo who truly stole the spotlight - Kohli’s sublime 135 was a reminder of his enduring class, with the 52nd century of his ODI career looking as effortless as ever. That said, India would want more from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has had a quiet start to the series, and from a middle order that was unable to fully cash in despite the strong foundation. KL Rahul chipped in with a valuable half-century, but with him batting at No.6, India might be looking for a quicker strike rate in the latter stages. The presence of Ravindra Jadeja continues to provide valuable balance, contributing both with the bat and as a key spinner. With New Raipur expected to offer a good batting surface, the hosts may also weigh the option of adding extra firepower by bringing in Rishabh Pant, whose ability to accelerate in the middle overs and finish strongly could prove decisive. With the ball, Kuldeep Yadav and Harshit Rana were the standout performers in the opener, turning the game on its head at crucial moments. However, the pace unit as a whole will be keen to be sharper at the death after South Africa threatened to pull off a remarkable chase. The Proteas arrive in New Raipur with a mix of confidence and disappointment. They showed tremendous fighting spirit in the first ODI, staying in the contest nearly all the way thanks to a brave late surge led by Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch, both of whom struck impressive half-centuries under intense pressure. Their effort underlined the depth in South Africa’s batting and their willingness to battle till the very end. At the top, they will be hoping for steadier starts from experienced names like Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram, while Matthew Breetzke and Dewald Brevis showed they possess the aggression to change the momentum in a matter of overs. The bowling, however, will need improvement, particularly against India’s top order. Prenelan Subrayen endured a tough outing in the series opener, and there could be a case for bringing in Keshav Maharaj to add control and experience through left-arm spin. The fast bowlers, too, will be eager to tighten up after being expensive through the middle and death overs. With India aiming to move closer to sealing the series and South Africa desperate to draw level, all signs point to another gripping contest. Fine margins, smart selections and composure in crunch moments will once again shape the outcome, and if the opening game was anything to go by, New Raipur is set for an evening of high-quality, high-pressure cricket.

Back to over the wicket, on a back of a length, on middle. Keshav drives it on the up to Ruturaj Gaikwad on the edge of the ring at mid off and picks up a single. 15 more needed for the Proteas.
Tucks the batter up for room, on a short of a length, Maharaj nudges it off the back foot to mid-wicket.
