OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! Something had to give as the last few overs were quiet for the Proteas in terms of runs. But Brevis holes out in an attempt to go big. Kuldeep offers a good bit of flight and lands on a fuller length, on middle. Dewald Brevis gets down on a knee to slog it over deep mid-wicket, but he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. He plays it very early. Gets a thick top edge and the ball hangs up in the air, over the mid-wicket region. DRINKS BREAK! With the dismissal of Quinton de Kock, the umpires have called for the hydration break. This is a big breakthrough for India, arriving just as South Africa were beginning to regain momentum after Prasidh Krishna’s double strike. An intriguing phase awaits us now. The Indian quicks, who have been bowling with a wet ball at the death for the past two games, will welcome the chance to operate with a dry one, and remember, only one ball will be used for the remainder of the innings after the 34th over. South Africa, meanwhile, will need to be mindful of how they pace their innings. Singh gets this one to shape away beautifully and Ryan Rickelton ends up playing a loose drive away from the body. Rickelton ends up getting an outside edge that goes straight through to the keeper and KL Rahul pouches it safely. Rickelton departs for a duck again and South Africa are 1/1!

KL Rahul, the Indian captain, says that they will bowl first because of the dew and adds that they trained here last evening, where the dew came in a bit later than in Ranchi and Raipur. Reckons that the surface looks good and adds that they are happy with the cricket they have played so far, even after failing to defend 360 runs, but that was more due to the conditions, and they are just looking to tweak a few little things here and there. PITCH REPORT - Deep Dasgupta notes that it is a warm afternoon in Vizag and points out the boundary dimensions with boundaries measuring 63 and 62 metres square of the wicket and the straight boundary at 73 metres. Shaun Pollock adds that the wicket is nice and hard, and he expects another high-scoring game. Mentions there is a good grass covering that should keep the surface intact, and although there are a few cracks, he does not expect them to play any significant role. Feels that the captain winning the toss will once again prefer chasing. Deep shares that there was no noticeable dew around 8 pm local time yesterday, which will be some consolation for the team bowling second. He describes the surface as a mix of red and black soil, roughly a 70-30 combination, which should provide good bounce and carry. Reckons that if there is anything in it for the spinners, it is likely to come in the first half of the match, and the surface may play a little slower during the day.

Dew has had a major say in the two games so far, with batting under lights being easier, and that should be the case today as well. India have lost the flip of the coin for 20 ODIs in a row, with their last toss win coming in the 2023 ODI World Cup semifinal against New Zealand.
