Time to sign off - That wraps up an action-packed anniversary day of the IPL, with no shortage of action. Earlier in Bengaluru, in a contest that ebbed and flowed, DC crossed the line against RCB, with David Miller redeeming himself in style. Another double-header awaits on Sunday, 19th April. First up in Kolkata, the Knight Riders take on the Rajasthan Royals as they hunt for their first win. That match will begin at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). Later in the evening in New Chandigarh, the only unbeaten side in the competition, the Punjab Kings, face the Lucknow Super Giants. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). We look forward to your company then. Until next time, take care and cheers!

The captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad - Ishan Kishan says it is lovely to have a group of young bowlers coming up with their own plans. He adds that watching Praful, Sakib and Shivang improve day by day in training makes it important to trust them. Kishan feels that they were 30-40 runs short and admits that they need to be better with their shot selection. Kishan also says they are not focusing on the points table at the moment, instead looking to keep their heads down and take it one match at a time.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Eshan Malinga wins the award for producing impressive figures of 3/29 from his 4 overs. Malinga says that they had a good bowling plan as a team, and they knew how to play at this kind of pitch, and it was all about executing. Adds that Ishan Kishan kept on asking him about what type of deliveries he was going to bowl, so that the field could be set accordingly. On getting some reverse swing at the death, Malinga says that it is very important for a good bowler to get it to reverse.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

SRH's batting recap - It was a quiet start to the game after SRH were inserted to bat, before Abhishek Sharma unleashed an assault and brought up a 15-ball fifty. Once he fell, Heinrich Klaasen was left to fight a lone battle, and he too departed after reaching his half-century. SRH were deprived of a late flourish as CSK produced a remarkable bowling display at the death. By Klaasen’s own admission at the halfway mark, they were about 10 runs short of a par total, but their bowlers stepped up admirably to seal the win.

SRH fought back and never looked back - Dewald Brevis and Sarfaraz Khan both fell while going for the big shots and will look back at those moments, as they could have taken it upon themselves to guide the team home. Matthew Short played the anchor role but could not see it through either. SRH pounced on the opening provided by Sarfaraz’s departure, with Ishan Kishan rotating his bowlers smartly to put the game beyond CSK's reach. The likes of Sakib Hussain, Shivang Kumar and Eshan Malinga did not disappoint, with Sakib putting behind him a tough start to fight back strongly.

Mhatre led the Powerplay charge - CSK lost Sanju Samson early, but Ayush Mhatre once again ensured they made the Powerplay count. Towards the back end, he pulled up with a hamstring issue and fell soon after, and so did Ruturaj Gaikwad. That lifted SRH’s spirits, but despite losing three wickets, CSK had raced to 76 in the Powerplay. That brought the required run rate down under 9, and it was about managing the chase from there.

A quick word with SRH's star all-rounder - Nitish Kumar Reddy says that everyone did a fine job, and it was a team effort, and thankfully, it came in a winning cause. On his bowling, he tried to bowl according to the situation and to his field. He reckons that it was a good pitch for the spinners but is happy with the way their seamers bowled. Reddy also adds that it was key to hit the top of off on this deck and on Shivang Kumar, NKR says that his mystery bowling is helping them a lot and hopes that he continues in the same way throughout the tournament.

The captain of the Chennai Super Kings - Ruturaj Gaikwad says that with how the Powerplay went with the ball, they were looking at 220 or 230, but the way they pulled things back with the ball was great to see. Adds that with just about 80 runs or so needed in the last 10 overs, all they needed to do was build a couple of stands. Gaikwad feels that the couple of overs after the 10th over mark changed things and gives credit to the SRH bowlers for the way they fought back. On the CSK bowling, he says that it is good to see how they are coming along in the last 2-3 matches, and it was good to see how they managed to cash in on the momentum. On Kamboj, he says that he is really glad to have him in the side, and his death bowling has really improved.

SRH get the job done - Back-to-back wins at home for the Sunrisers, and for the first time this season, they have secured consecutive victories. Both wins have largely come on the back of impressive bowling efforts. CSK fail to track down a 190-plus target once again in the IPL. It is their 10th successive unsuccessful attempt in a full 20-over chase, with the last such successful pursuit coming back in 2018.

That's it, Praful Hinge has done it and Sunrisers Hyderabad win by 10 runs. Praful goes for the yorker at the toes again but errs on the fuller side. Anshul Kamboj clips the low full toss off his legs and towards deep mid-wicket for a single. Great comeback from Hinge, especially given how the first over of the chase went.

19.51

Another fine delivery. Full and at the toes, Noor Ahmad jams it across through mid-wicket and picks up a single in the deep. A huge roar from the crowd as they are now certain that without any extras, the game is in the bag for the home side.

That should do it for SRH. Noor Ahmad comes out to bat. Don't count him out. Remember his final-over heroics in the T20 World Cup against South Africa?

19.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Should be the game for SRH, 13 needed off 2 balls. Two sixes to tie for CSK. Praful Hinge keeps his composure and nails another one in the blockhole, landing it just outside off. Jamie Overton hangs deep in the crease and looks to power it away but can't quite get under the flight of the ball. Ends up heaving it towards long off, where Liam Livingstone moves to his left and pouches it well.

19.31

That's a stellar comeback delivery from Hinge. A yorker right on the money, on leg stump and Kamboj can only jam it out to deep mid-wicket for a single. 13 needed now off 3 balls.

19.31nb

No ball! Oh, deary me. That looks too high and it is given as a No Ball but SRH have reviewed it. Praful Hinge runs in and tries to angle across a yorker but the ball slips out of his hands and ends up going past the batter at around chest height. The third umpire confirms that Kamboj's waist height is 1.09 meters and the ball went past him at 1.24 meters. Free Hit loading...

19.21lb

That's well bowled. Praful stays around the wicket and jams the yorker in on the pads. Overton fails to flick it away and the ball thuds into the pads before rolling away just past the strip into the leg side. The batters pick up a leg bye.

19.12

Good hustle from the batters. Full at the toes, ends up being a low full toss. Overton jams it down to long on and picks up a couple of runs.

Time for the final over. Praful Hinge to bowl. He has conceded 54 runs in his 3 overs so far. Can he redeem himself?

Oh, that should have been a run-out, but Jamie Overton is left off the hook here. Slower ball, slightly back of a length. Kamboj swats it down to long on without much timing and the batters look for two. The throw comes in at the bowler's end but Reddy fails to dislodge the bails. 18 needed off the final over.

18.61wd

WIDE! Oh, an extra and NKR can't get out of the over. Full and wide, sprayed beyond the tramline outside off.

18.56

SIX! That's a big blow from Kamboj. NKR misses the straight yorker and serves a full toss on middle, Anshul Kamboj backs away and takes full toll as he swings it over long on for a biggie. 21 needed now off 7 balls.

18.41

Full again, angled into the pads, hacked across the line to deep mid-wicket for one more.

18.31

Full-pitched delivery, pushed wide outside off, Anshul Kamboj slashes at it and slices it over the point region for a single.

18.21

Just a single. Fuller in length, wide outside off, a bit slower too. Overton toe-ends the smack-drive to deep cover for a run.

18.10

A low full toss, straight at the stumps. Jamie Overton drills it back but Nitish Kumar Reddy does well to get a big hand on it on the followthrough.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has been brought back with CSK needing 30 runs off 12 balls. So, the 20th over will have to be either Praful Hinge or Shivang Kumar, barring any surprises.

Full and straight, heaved across to deep mid-wicket for a single now. 30 needed off 12 balls.

17.52

Another misfield. Full again, on middle and leg, flicked away to the right of deep mid-wicket for a single but Ishan Kishan now fumbles and concedes an extra run.

17.44

FOUR! Should have been stopped but that's a fine shot again from Overton. Attempted yorker, on leg stump, Malinga errs on the fuller side. Overton clips it firmly between long on and deep mid-wicket and it is Aniket Verma from the latter position, who runs across and gets to it but fumbles it over the ropes.

Commentary

We are back for the run chase. The umpires are back on the field and the players of Sunrisers Hyderabad take their places on the field as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson are all set to open the innings for Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, Praful Hinge will get proceedings underway with the ball. Let's go...

... The Run Chase ...

An underpar total or defendable? Chennai Super Kings will certainly be the happier of the two sides at the break but if the dew doesn't come in, Sunrisers Hyderabad will certainly have a chance, given that CSK haven't chased a total in excess of 190 runs since the 2018 season. It should be an exciting chase, nonetheless, so stay tuned for the action.

Here's Klaasen now, having a quick chat - Heinrich Klaasen collects the Orange Cap and hands over the Purple Cap to Anshul Kamboj. Klaasen says the surface was a good one to bat on but admits it slowed up a touch in the backend. He feels that they finished about 10 runs below par and stresses that the bowlers have a lot of work to do. On the older ball, he says it made batting difficult and adds that Noor extracted a bit of spin as well, crediting the CSK bowlers for bowling extremely well through the back half of the innings. On what CSK did right to swing things in their favour, Klaasen takes a moment before admitting it is a tough one to answer, saying simply that SRH lost too many wickets in the crucial phases. On his own form this IPL, Klaasen says the rhythm is back and the swing feels much better, crediting a switch back to the heavy bat as a possible factor. He adds that he would have taken a hundred runs less in exchange for four more wins. He signs off by saying the tournament is still long and a big win tonight would be a huge boost.

SRH fail to cash in - The Sunrisers were cruising at 75/0 in 5.4 overs, but then they lost two wickets on the final two deliveries of the Powerplay and it all started to go downhill from there. Abhishek Sharma notched up a half-century off just 15 balls, the fastest for SRH this season but couldn't go on and turn it into a big knock. Heinrich Klaasen was yet again the saviour in the middle overs but he didn't get much support from the other end and he too got out after scoring a fifty. SRH's hand was forced and they brought on Liam Livingstone as the Impact Sub but he only faced 5 out of the last 16 balls and scored one run.

CSK pull things back - Sunrisers Hyderabad were off to a flier and it looked like we were going to see a score of about 210-220 runs minimum, but Jamie Overton completely changed the complexion of the first innings. Overton went on to pick up 3 wickets in total but the likes of Gurjapneet Singh and especially Anshul Kamboj closed things off brilliantly. Kamboj too ended with 3 wickets to his name and all the momentum is now with the visiting side.

The record stays intact - Sunrisers Hyderabad still haven't managed to score 200 or more runs against Chennai Super Kings and even though this is now their highest score against the Men in Yellow, CSK will feel they have done a fine job here. Just 17 runs in the last 3 overs, and SRH might be 15-20 runs short here.

OUT! TAKEN EASILY! CSK manage to restrict SRH below 200. A dipping full toss around knee height, on middle. Livingstone gets down on a knee and lines up a big heave into the leg side but mistimes it off the inner half. The ball sails only as far as deep mid-wicket, where Dewald Brevis takes a simple catching practice yards ahead of the ropes. Kamboj finishes with a three-for. Just 7 runs from the final over. SUNRISERS HYDERABAD FINISH ON 194/9!

19.51b

Full and outside off, inside the guideline. Hinge leaves it and sneaks a bye. Samson throws underarm to Kamboj but the bowler cannot collect it cleanly. Sunrisers take the review looking for a wide. But the replay shows that the ball is fairly within the revised wide guideline. Fair delivery.

Praful Hinge is the next batter in.

19.4W

OUT! MISTIMED IN THE AIR AND GONE! Wicket number 2 for Kamboj. On a fuller length, following Shivang outside off. He stays in his crease, shuffles and lines up a scoop over fine leg but connects off the cue end, ballooning it into the air. Gurjapneet at short fine leg paces half a dozen yards to his left and completes the catch. Sunrisers Hyderabad are 193/8, two balls left.

19.34

FOUR! Smarly done by Shivang! Kamboj goes for the yorker on the leg stump, but Shivang shuffles across off, gets low and uses the angle and pace to lap-sweep it to the right of short fine leg for a boundary.

19.21

Pushed outside off, on a fuller length. Liam Livingstone drills it through mid off for a single.

19.11

Full and wide, sticking to his plans, Kamboj. Shivang drives it to long off for a single.

A low full toss, outside off, Shivang Kumar carves it to Sarfaraz's left at extra cover for a single. Still a fantastic over from Singh. Just 8 runs from it. He ends his spell with 4-0-34-1.

18.56

SIX! Gets the connection alright this time around! At pace and a lot straighter, on leg, full in length. Shivang Kumar gets the front leg out of his way and golfs it cleanly over the deep mid-wicket fence for a six.

18.40

Big swing and a miss! Gurjapneet bowls the back-of-the-hand slower one, full and outside off. Shivang clears the front leg, swings the bat in January but the ball arrives in December to beat his outside edge.

18.41wd

WIDE! Tries the wide yorker, but sprays it far outside the tramline, outside off. Shivang lets it be. Wide called.

18.30

Gets the yorker correct again, on middle. Kumar can only jam the bat down to smother it.

18.20

Full and outside off, carved straight to cover by Shivang. Livingstone sets off for a single but is sent back by Shivang, diving to get back in safely before the throw at that end.

Shivang Kumar walks out to bat next for SRH.

18.1W

OUT! CAUGHT IN THE DEEP! Gurjapneet Singh gets on-board with a wicket as well. Singh pushes the ball across the right-hander, outside off, on a fuller length. Salil Arora reaches out for it and tries to clear the deep cover fence, but cannot quite get underneath it and slices it straight to Dewald Brevis stationed at deep extra cover. Sunrisers Hyderabad keep losing wickets at crucial moments and are 179/7 down.

Gurjapneet Singh is back on, and he'll bowl the penultimate over of the innings.

Nails another wide yorker on point, outside off. Liam Livingstone shuffles a bit to the off side to carve it away, but misses to connect. Excellent over. Just 2 runs from it.

17.50

Top-drawer from Kamboj so far in this over. Almost a yorker, outside off. Arora digs the yorker out but Kamboj extends his right arm in the follow-through and makes a good stop.

17.41

Into the blockhole again from Anshul, on the stumps. Salil works it off the inner half to deep square leg for a single.

17.31lb

Another yorker, on the pads. Liam Livingstone swings to whip it over leg side, but misses as the ball dips below the bat. Hits his boot and rolls to short fine leg for a leg bye.

SRH are forced to use their Impact Sub here and Liam Livingstone comes in to replace Travis Head.

Travis Head is substituted by Liam Livingstone

17.2W

OUT! TOTALLY PLAYED ON! Kamboj keeps giving a good account of himself and this wicket could make a huge difference in the final score for SRH. Anshul continues from around-the-wicket angle and fires another perfect wide yorker, outside off. Heinrich Klaasen throws his bat at it with minimal foot movement, trying to crash through the cover region, but ends up inside edging it and the ball makes an absolute mess of the middle pole. A fine knock from Klaasen comes to an end, though he will be disappointed to not bat till the end. The Sunrisers are 177/6.

17.30

Oh, what's happened here? There's an appeal for LBW, which is turned down, but then the keeper misses the shy at the stumps and that really could have been game over for CSK. Will this missed opportunity cost SRH? Full and tailing into the legs, Overton misses the flick and the ball brushes the pads before rolling behind to the keeper. Overton wanders down the pitch in search of a single but has to track back quickly. Salil Arora collects the ball behind the stumps and has all three stumps to aim at with ample time but he misses, allowing Jamie to get back.

17.22

Well struck but it will just be two. Full and straight, drilled along the turf and to the left of long on. Heinrich Klaasen mops it up nicely and keeps it down to two runs.

A massive wicket for SRH. Anshul Kamboj walks in next.

16.5W

OUT! TIMBER! This could be the game right here and Shivam Dube cannot believe it. Dale Steyn on air just mentioned that Sakib Hussain deserves a wicket tonight, and right on cue, Sakib might have just picked up the most important wicket of the night. Hussain goes quick and full again, aims it at the toes. Dube gets rushed as he looks to flick it away and ends up playing all around it. The ball might have just flicked the back pad as well, before rattling into the middle stump. 41 needed now off 19 balls.

16.41

Excellent bowling again. Another wide yorker, gets it right this time. Overton digs it into the off side and gets across for the single.

16.30

Pace on this time, hitting a hard length and bowling it around off. Overton gets rushed off the deck and jams it to the left of the bowler, who gets to it quickly.

This is getting frustrating for everyone. Over the past couple of overs, there has been constant movement from spectators in the stands above the sight screen. Jamie Overton has been in the umpire's ear and looks the more annoyed of the two CSK batters.

16.31wd

WIDE! Just past the tramline, but Ishan Kishan reviews it. A wide yorker, swings away late as well. Jamie Overton lets it through and the umpire signals a wide. However, now the third umpire is called into action. It is confirmed that no part of the ball is inside the revised wide guideline and it stays a wide.

16.21

Oh, in the air but into the vast empty space as well. Slower one on the leg stump, Shivam Dube looks to clip it off the legs but gets a leading edge through the mid-wicket region and picks up a single.

16.21wd

WIDE! Well, that's come out all wrong. Attempted slower bumper, too high and spins away a mile from the left-hander. Left alone for a wide.

15.51

Full and around the fifth stump line, driven past extra cover for a single.

Eshan Malinga continues to impress. Jamie Overton is the new man in.

15.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Has Aniket Verma clung onto the catch? Indeed, he has. Eshan Malinga goes full and straight, looking for the inswinging yorker but misses it a touch. Matthew Short gets the front leg out and whips it furiously but flat towards deep mid-wicket. Aniket Verma charges in a bit and nearly overruns the ball, but manages to snaffle it with both hands to his right. 47 needed now off 26 balls as Malinga gets his third wicket.

15.31

Dug in short, right at the batter, Dube pulls it away through square leg for one.

15.22

Two is the call and they get it as well, good running. A slower bumper, around head height and on off, Dube reaches out and pulls it down in front of mid-wicket, into the vast open space and gets a brace.

A fine over from Sakib. Just 6 runs off it. Hussain goes searching for the yorker but ends with a low full toss, on off and middle. Short is late on the shot and mistimes the drive to extra cover. That should have been put away by Matthew. 54 runs needed in 30 balls.

14.51

Back to the slower, short ball, on middle. Shivam waits for the ball to arrive and he taps the ball on its head. He nudges it behind square leg, where the short fine leg fielder gets around to his right and tidies up. Just a single.

14.41

Right in the blockhole, on middle. Short cannot do much about it. He toe-ends the drive back past the bowler and rotates the strike.

14.31

Bends his back and comes up with a bouncer, does Sakib. Around the left shoulder and Dube pulls it towards deep mid-wicket for just a single.

14.21

Gets the yorker right this time, at the toes. Short jams it out through backward square leg and gets to the other end.

14.21wd

Wide! Attempts the yorker but strays in his line. This drifts down leg and Short fails to get it away.

14.11

Begins with an off-cutter, on a length, on middle. Dube watchfully nurdles it in front of square on the leg side for a run.

STRATEGIC BREAK! This game is slowly turning into a really close one but for now, the Super Kings just hold the edge. The required rate is exactly 10 runs an over, with 60 needed off 36 balls and CSK still have someone like Jamie Overton to come. He smacks it on the bounce towards wide mid off, where Heinrich Klaasen dives to his left and gets a hand on it but it is not enough. The ball races behind and Ishan Kishan's chase goes in vain. A much-needed over for CSK. 15 runs off it.

13.51

Full and at the sticks, Shivam drills it to long on for a run.

13.46

SIX! Hinge misses the yorker and Dube makes him pay. Praful looks to dart in the yorker but gets it slightly wrong. Dube is standing deep in the crease and that allows him to get under the ball. A clean swing of the arms and Shivam tonks it over long on for a biggie.

13.30

The surprise short ball from Hinge, gets it high enough to trouble the batter, just around the left shoulder. Dube swivels for the pull but is beaten for pace and the ball goes over the blade.

13.20

Nice and full at 133.7 kph, on middle. Shivam firms the drive back at the bowler. Praful makes a sharp stop to his right. Shows a bit of aggression too, as he fakes a throw at the batter. 27 balls since the last boundary.

13.11

Short cannot make the Free Hit count. Very full, not allowing the batter to get under the ball, on middle. Short hangs deep in the crease with an open bat face and swings for the hills. Miscues it off the inner half towards wide long on. They cross.

It is the googly and Brevis ends up cutting across the line of the ball. It is skied to long off, where Liam Livingstone stays side on and takes the catch to his right, well in front of the ropes. Eshan Malinga breathes life back into this contest. Dewald Brevis walks out to bat next.

OUT! CAUGHT! Eshan Malinga strikes on his return to the attack. Malinga goes full and straight, at the stumps. Sarfaraz clears the front leg and uses his bottom hand in a bid to go big on the leg side. The bat turns in his hand and the top hand comes off the bat handle. Neither does he get any elevation, nor does he pick the gap. Hits it flat and straight down the throat of deep square leg, where Nitish Kumar Reddy makes no mistake. The 46-run stand has been broken. CSK are 112/4, chasing 195.

Off-cutter, dug in short, over off and middle. Sarfaraz Khan arches back to play the upper-cut but the ball spins back to cramp Khan for room and he fails to connect.

8.52

Oh, that's sloppy fielding from the bowler. Tossed up, full on off, driven straight to extra cover for one. The throw at the bowler's end is fumbled by the bowler and the batters do well to sneak in an extra run.

STRATEGIC BREAK! An action-packed Powerplay that had everything. A double strike towards the back end has ensured a better ending to the Powerplay for SRH. With plenty of firepower still in the shed for CSK, it is about chipping away at the wickets from SRH's perspective. As for CSK, given the start they have got in the Powerplay, it is now about managing the chase, and how their stroke-making holds up as the ball gets older and softer remains to be seen. 4.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! A stunning grab by Heinrich Klaasen. Nitish Kumar Reddy lets out a big roar. This is on a length, outside off. Mhatre stays rooted to the crease and swings at it. Carves it off the outer half towards wide mid off, where Klaasen moves swiftly to his left and leaps before stretching both hands in that direction to cling onto the catch. The ball stays in his grasp even as his elbow hits the turf, and he does well to roll over and soften the landing.

It seems Ayush Mhatre will have to go off the field. He really hobbled his way to the other end on the last single, but Mhatre's sent the physio back and wants to continue. Very interesting call and we might see a few big swings from him now.

4.31

Oh, dear! Ayush Mhatre is really struggling. Full and on middle. Gaikwad brings his bat out in front and knocks it to the right of mid on. Mhatre hobbles to the other end and the mid on fielder spots that to fire in a throw at Ayush's end. He does not hit. The keeper, Salil Arora collects the throw before releasing an underarm throw at the batting end but Mhatre is in by then.

Uh, oh! This doesn't look good. Ayush Mhatre is seen holding his left hamstring and the pain seems to be growing by the second. Mhatre seems to be in some agony and the physio rushed out to check on him. Sometimes, when you come in as an Impact Sub, having not been in the field, the muscles can be a bit tight and pull-up. The physio is still tending to Mhatre and SRH won't mind this extended break, as it takes momentum off CSK's hands. Thankfully, Ayush is finally back on his feet and seems good to go. Let's get back to the action.

4.22

The 50-run stand comes up between this pair. Reddy spots Gaikwad backing away and he follows him with a good-length delivery. Ruturaj nudges it in front of deep square leg and Mhatre charges back to the bowling end before the throw comes in. He pulls up just after getting home and is clutching his left hamstring.

4.12

Oh, any other day that would have crashed into the stumps. Reddy bowls it on a back of a length, on off. Gaikwad pushes at it off the back foot. Gets an inside edge that goes past the leg stump and goes down to deep fine leg. Sakib Hussain in the deep is a bit square and that allows the batters to sneak in the second run.

Wide! Another bouncer, over the right shoulder. Not as high as the previous ball but Mhatre drops his wrists and sees the ball sail over his head. Praful feels hard done by but SRH do not review the wide call.

2.41wd

Wide! Hinge responds with a bumper but this is too high. Mhatre sways away and lets it go.

2.34

FOUR! Nearly went the distance! Praful Hinge errs in his line and this is on a good length. Ayush frees his arms and holds his shape as he thumps it over the man at mid off with a cross-bat. The ball bounces just in front of the ropes.

2.20

Hurls it on a back of a length, outside off. Mhatre spanks it straight to cover.

2.16

SIX! High and handsome! Hinge bends his back and digs it in short, over middle. Gets it up around the chest but Ayush hops, swivels and lifts his front leg before pulling it over square leg for a biggie.

FOUR! Lovely shot! Reddy is made to pay for the extra ball. Fractionally fuller, on middle. Ruturaj Gaikwad presents the full face of the bat and lets his hands through the ball. Drives it all along the ground to the left of mid on for a four.

1.61wd

Wide! Short and this slips just beyond the tramline. Gaikwad lets it go.

1.53

DROPPED! Heinrich Klaasen covered a lot of ground, but the ball kept going away from him. It could have been two in the over for Reddy. Angled in, on a good length, on middle. Mhatre is nowhere near the pitch of the ball but he still swings through the line. It is skied over mid on, where Klaasen runs over his left shoulder but the ball keeps drifting away from him. He flings himself but the ball clips his fingertips and dribbles towards the ropes. Heinrich does well to get back up on his feet and he flicks the ball away from the fence, saving a run for his side.

1.40

Reddy hits the hard length, on off. Ayush stands tall on top of the bounce and taps it to cover-point.

1.30

A swing and a miss! Pitched up by Reddy, a hint of away shape, outside off. Ayush crouches and swings to go down the ground. His feet go nowhere, and he is beaten on the outside edge.

1.20

Fractionally short and equally wide at 135 kph. Mhatre stays leg side of the ball and looks to force it away on the off side. The ball comes on slower than he anticipated and Ayush ends up bunting it down the strip.

SRH answer back immediately. Ayush Mhatre is the Impact Sub for CSK and he walks out to bta now, replacing Gurjapneet Singh in the lineup.

Gurjapneet Singh is substituted by Ayush Mhatre

OUT! IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! Nitish Kumar Reddy strikes with his first ball. Seam-up ball by Reddy, on a short of a good length, outside off. Samson presses on the back foot and goes for the pull. Skies it off the lower half of the bat towards mid on, where Heinrich Klaasen calls others out of the way and settles under it. He takes the catch in reverse cup style around his face.

A big first over for CSK with the bat. Nitish Kumar Reddy to share the new ball with Praful Hinge.

FOUR! Easy pickings! As they say, sport is a great leveller. Praful Hinge has experienced that tonight. 3 wickets in his opening over on his debut night against RR, and tonight, he has gone for 15 runs. Swinging back in at the hips, on a back of a length. Gaikwad gets on his toes and glances it down to the vacant deep fine leg region for four more.

0.54

FOUR! Gaikwad is up and running! A little bit of width, on a good length. This shapes back a touch, Ruturaj presses forward and drives it on the up through covers for a boundary to get going.

0.40

Fuller and honing in on the off stump, Gaikwad lunges and pats it back to Praful.

0.30

This keeps climbing, on a shortish length, on off. Ruturaj Gaikwad hops and gets his hands high to flay it away before bailing out of the shot.

0.21

Dishes it out on a hard length, on off. Samson hops and runs it down behind point with an open bat face. The backward point fielder dives to his left and gets a hand on it. It rolls to deep third and the batters cross for one.

0.16

SIX! Just over! Samson and CSK are away. Banged in short, tucking the batter up for room. Sanju swivels and although he is a bit rushed, he manages to get the pull shot away. Manages to clear the deep backward square leg fielder for a six. Hinge was off in celebration before watching the ball sail over the deep fielder's head.

18.56

17.10

From around the stump, Anshul spears a wide yorker, outside off. Heinrich Klaasen swings hard, but fails to get the bat under it. The ball dips below the blade and beats the inside edge.

Anshul Kamboj is back on to bowl at the death. Just one over for 15 so far for him.

FOUR! Splits the gap nicely there, Arora! On a back of a length, angling into the batter's body. Salil Arora is quick to read the length and heaves it into the long on and deep mid-wicket gap for a boundary. A 14-run over for SRH. Productive one for the hosts. Jamie Overton ends his spell with figures of 4-0-37-3.

16.51

At a searing pace of 150.4 kph, this is short and on top of middle. Klaasen hangs back and pulls it to deep mid-wicket for a single.

16.42

On a good length, at the sticks, Klaasen works it to the right of long on for a couple of runs.

16.41wd

WIDE! A bit too straight, down leg on a hard length. Klaasen misses to glance.

16.34

FOUR! That's tough for the bowler to take. Klaasen won't mind that. Overton slams it on a hard length, and follows the batter as Klaasen moves outside leg. He tries to slash that through cover, but the ball straightens up a bit, takes the outside edge and shoots between the keeper and the short third fielder for a boundary.

16.21

At 140.3 kph, this is full and around off. Arora slices it over mid off for a single to long off's left.

16.11

15.50

Good length googly on the off stump. Arora is cramped for room, gets an inside edge onto the pads.

15.41

Short on the middle stump line. This is punched off the back foot to deep mid-wicket for another single.

15.31

On a fractionally fuller length, on leg, Heinrich Klaasen gently tucks it to the deep square leg region and takes an easy single to get to his milestone. Easily the most consistent batter for Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.

15.16

SIX! Hot knife through butter! Noor serves it up on a platter, around off. Heinrich Klaasen finds the ball in his arc, gets low on a knee and nails the slog sweep behind the cow corner fence for a huge six. Klaasen moves to 49 off 31.

Gurjapneet Singh convinces Gaikwad to take the review and challenge the on-field decision of wide given. The replay comes up with a revised guideline and shows that there is some portion of the ball within that strip. So, it is deemed a fair delivery, forcing the umpire to overturn the decision. A very good over from Singh, as just 6 runs come off it.

14.54

FOUR! A gift from Singh and Arora obliges! Goes for the yorker, but serves a knee-high full toss, on off. Salil Arora smashes it over extra cover for a blazing boundary.

STRATEGIC BREAK! It just keeps getting better and better for Jamie Overton this season. Another three-wicket haul and counting for the tall Englishman. Runs have constantly flown over 10s per over, but CSK have managed to pick wickets at regular intervals, managing to shrink the batting options for SRH. But with Klaasen still out in the middle, 200-plus seems at an arm's distance. The Super Kings would aim to get Klaasen's wicket as quickly as possible as that would potentially minus a few runs off the total. But with the kind of form he is in, can they? Overton to complete his over, and Salil Arora walks in at number 7.

13.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! Overton's done it again! Jamie takes pace off and digs it in a bit short over off stump. Nitish Kumar Reddy hangs back and goes after it, trying to pull but loses his shape and ends up getting a top edge that flies down to long on. Matthew Short in the deep, leaps up a bit and pouches it smartly over his head. A third wicket for Overton now and he breaks another brewing stand.

13.41

Back of a length, on the pads, nudged away into the leg side for one run.

13.32

Excellent running once again from this pair. Full and on the pads, flicked away between long on and deep mid-wicket for a couple of runs.

13.24

FOUR! Streaky, but Klaasen won't mind. Slower bumper, well-directed by Overton, ends up over off stump and around helmet height. Klaasen tries to reach and pull it down, but gets the cue end of the blade, and the ball travels between the keeper and short fine leg for a boundary.

10.30

Short ball around off, at a whopping 150.9 kph. Klaasen hangs back to pull but the ball zips through and beats the batter for pace.

10.21

The ball flies off the top edge towards deep mid-wicket and Noor Ahmad takes an easy catch over there. SRH losing their way a bit at 112/4 now.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Excellent review from Samson and Overton has his first. A huge wicket for CSK. Jamie hits the hard length with searing pace, and gets the ball to kick up a bit, around the off pole. Abhishek Sharma does not move at all and tries to run it behind by using the pace of the ball, but seems to have nicked it behind as Samson gathers it safely. Samson appeals for caught behind, but the umpire denies. He is the only one who looked interested and CSK have gone upstairs for a review. And whoa! Flatter delivery, on a length, on leg. Klaasen tucks it to deep square leg for a single.

6.30

Pitched outside leg, full in length, Klaasen tilts forward and clips it to short fine leg.

6.21

Full on the stumps, this is drilled down to long on for a single.

6.21wd

WIDE! Full and far outside the tramline. Abhishek leaves again and this time, Samson collects to his left.

6.14b

FOUR BYES! Noor floats one full and wide outside off. Abhishek decides to leave and Samson fails to gather it in his gloves, and it races behind. Gurjapneet Singh gives it a chase, but the ball wins the race to the fence.

STRATEGIC BREAK! Wow, what an end to the Powerplay. Sunrisers Hyderabad have notched up 75 runs but those two back-to-back wickets will certainly give CSK the momentum heading into the next phase of the innings. Abhishek Sharma has been striking the ball flawlessly but with Travis Head and Ishan Kishan both back in the hut, he might have to be a bit cautious. Chennai will look to bring on someone like Noor Ahmad and continue to search for further wickets. Noor does come into the attack straightaway, whereas Heinrich Klaasen is the new batter in for SRH.

OUT! MISTIMED AND GONE! Kishan comes and Kishan goes. Two in two for Mukesh to bring back parity. Full from Choudhary, around the off pole. Too full for Ishan Kishan to get under it, but still, he tries to pump it over mid off to clear the fence, but ends up slicing it off the toe end and loses his shape while axing it. It spoons in the air and goes only as far as mid off where Ruturaj Gaikwad takes a few steps back and takes it down the throat. Mukesh will be on a Hat Trick at the start of his next over. At the end of the Powerplay, SRH are 75/2.

SRH skipper, Ishan Kishan, walks in at number 3.

5.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! The skipper of CSK takes a stunning catch to send Travis back in the dugout. Mukesh continues to bowl around the stumps and bowls a full toss wide of off. Travis Head looks to go big and swings at it. Miscues it off the cue end and ends up hitting this to the left of Ruturaj Gaikwad at mid off. RG glides to his left before diving and gathering this inches over the ground. Head has to walk back.

Is that a fair catch? Travis Head starts walking and Ruturaj Gaikwad is claiming the catch. It is given on-field, and CSK get the breakthrough.

5.44

FOUR! Three boundaries off the 4 balls bowled in the last over of the Powerplay. A tad full and wide around off, Travis Head gets down on his knee and drives this past the right of Noor Ahmad at cover-point for a boundary more.

5.34

FOUR! Head is starting to motor as well. Low full toss, around middle and leg, Travis Head collapses the back knee and slog sweeps this through the mid-wicket region for a boundary more.

5.20

Mukesh comes around the stumps and lands one on a length, taking it across the batter. Travis Head slaps this flat to mid off.

5.14

FOUR! The carnage continues. Short and wide outside off from Mukesh Choudhary, Travis Head stays deep inside his crease and marginally lofts this over Noor Ahmad at extra cover for a boundary to start the 6th over.

SIX! Madness from Abhishek Sharma, and he brings up his FIFTY IN JUST 15 BALLS. Tossed up, on a dragged length and around off. Sharma charges down the track, makes room and thumps it flat over wide long off for another biggie and the Hyderabad crowd goes wild. 25 off the over.

4.56

SIX! Pure carnage out there from Abhishek Sharma. Pretty similar to the last ball, Sharma makes room and Short tries to follow him but the batter manages to make enough room for himself and hits it sweetly over extra cover for a biggie.

4.44

FOUR! Make that three in a row for Abhishek. Sharma backs away early this time and Short tries to follow him with a full ball. Sharma manages to make enough room to go up and over covers. Ruturaj Gaikwad chases it down and gets to it but ends up flicking the ball back into the ropes.

4.34

FOUR! Banged away again. Good length, trying to dart it into the batter. Sharma simply makes a bit of room and whacks it wide of long on for four more.

4.24

FOUR! Straight down the ground. Shortish length again, straighter at the stumps, Abhishek Sharma swats it back over the bowler's head and finds the fence yet again.

4.11

Shorter one, well into the pitch, Head comes down the pitch and pulls it away to deep mid-wicket for one.

FOUR! That's flown away to the fence as well. Dug in shorter and outside off, Abhishek Sharma gives the charge once again and goes after it, slicing it over short third for another boundary. 15 off the over.

3.54

FOUR! Down the pitch and hammered away. A full ball on leg stump, Sharma shimmies down the leg, backs away and forces the ball over the cover region for a boundary.

3.41

Shorter in length and outside off, slapped away to deep backward point for one.

3.30

Back of a length, on leg stump, Head looks to pull but gets it off the inner edge of the bat towards mid-wicket.

3.20

Oh, just short! Hard length around off, Head throws his hands at it but miscues it slightly uppishly and it lands well in front of Noor Ahmad at short extra cover.

3.16

SIX! Magnificently played. Kamboj comes over the wicket and serves it on a fullish length, looking to angle it across the left-hander. Travis Head gets leg side of the ball and extends the arms to pummel it over deep extra cover for a biggie.

Will we see another from Mukesh Choudhary, or will Anshul Kamboj come into the attack now? Just an over from the left-arm pacer and now Anshul comes into the attack for Chennai Super Kings.

Fuller in length, driven along the turf and towards deep cover for just a single. Another tidy over from Short, barring that six.

2.50

Full and straight, Head looks to advance down the piutch but nearly gets yorked and adjusts to keep it out.

2.40

Good length, on off, punched away towards cover where the fielder makes a sharp stop.

2.31

Oh, nearly gets chopped on, does Abhishek Sharma. Slower through the air, on off, Sharma backs away to cut but gets an inside edge past leg stump for a single.

2.26

SIX! Handsomely struck. Fairly full, on the stumps, Abhishek Sharma clears the front leg and just swings through the line, launching the ball well over the long on fence for a biggie.

2.11

A bit of grip on offer for Short. Floated up on middle and leg, Head backs away but the ball angles in and he gets it off the inner half of the balde towards wide mid on for a single.

Should have been put away. Fractionally short, down the leg side, Head hops back to whip it off the pads but misses. The ball goes off the thigh pad and behind square leg for a leg bye.

1.50

That in-between length on off, attacking the stumps, Head punches it back. Mukesh Choudhary gets a hand on it in his followthrough as the ball rolls away to mid off. Head wants the single but Sharma sends him back.

1.40

Nicely bowled. A surprise bumper, on middle, angles in as well. Head ducks under it.

1.31

Good length on middle, darts in sharply, Sharma waits back and just taps it into the off side, pinching a single as well.

1.22

Choudhary goes fuller, angling it into the pads Sharma clips it away wide of deep mid-wicket and picks up a couple of runs.

1.16

SIX! Well, that's one way to greet the new bowler. Back of a length, and outside off, shapes away a bit as well. Abhishek Sharma stands tall and wallops the ball up and over extra cover for a biggie, the first one of the game.

A really tidy start from Matthew Short as he gives away just 4 off the first over. Mukesh Choudhary will be bowling from the other end.

No run there, and a tidy start from Matthew Short, just 4 runs off it. Shorter in length, outside off, Travis Head backs away to cut but can't get it through the infield.

0.61wd

WIDE! Fuller and quicker, speared down the leg side. Head fails to flick it away.

0.51

Dragged well short and outside off, Sharma stands tall and hits it off the back foot through wide mid off for one more.

0.41

Full ball on middle and leg, Head comes forward and eases it to mid off for a quick single and opens his account as well.

0.30

Head can't thread it through. Short and wide, there to be hit, Travis latches onto the widtj and cuts it straight to point.

0.21

Sharma and SRH are off the mark. Similar line and length to the first ball, this time Abhishek Sharma punches it between point and covers and picks up a single.

0.10

A dot to begin. Slow and short, around off, Abhishek Sharma rocks back and punches it square towards cover-point.

All in readiness for the game to begin. The umpires are the first ones out in the middle. The CSK players can be seen in a huddle before taking to the field. Also, ICYMI - Down further South in Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals have just pulled off a final-over run chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with David Miller redeeming himself in fine fashion. It will be the duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head to open the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The off-spinner, Matthew Short, has been handed the new ball for CSK. Let's play...

Let's now hear from the dynamic SRH opener - Travis Head praises the electric atmosphere of the Indian crowds, noting that the immense pressure and noise are exactly why he plays the game. He expresses deep comfort within the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise, highlighting how much he enjoys the team's aggressive style of play alongside his friends. Head also reflects on the evolution and challenges of the IPL by saying they look to maintain a positive outlook.

Let's hear from CSK's rising young star - Ayush Mhatre talks about his journey and mentions that it is a dream come true, especially playing under Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) last year, and is happy to be a part of this franchise. Adds that there was pressure on his shoulders when he walked into the CSK dressing room, as he hadn't played with such big players till then but everyone helped him settle in. Mentions that the IPL experience helped him in the domestic circuit as well and also in the Under-19 matches. Feels that he's the same Ayush from before and tries to keep things simple.

Impact Sub options for CSK - Ayush Mhatre, Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer, Ramakrishna Ghosh, and Matt Henry.

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI) - Sanju Samson (WK), Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, Matthew Short (In for Ayush Mhatre), Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary (In for Khaleel Ahmed), Gurjapneet Singh.

Impact Sub options for SRH - Ravichandran Smaran, Harsh Dubey, Liam Livingstone, Dilshan Madushanka, and Harshal Patel.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI) - Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (C), Heinrich Klaasen, Salil Arora (WK), Aniket Verma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivang Kumar, Praful Hinge, Sakib Hussain (In for Harsh Dubey), and Eshan Malinga.

The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad - Ishan Kishan says they were looking to bat first and put up a solid total on the board, as batting has been their strength. Ishan says that they just play for the side and look to play scoring strokes rather than just scoring for individuals. Kishan reckons that their position in the table doesn't matter much now, as this is a long tournament and they just need to take one game at a time. Kishan informs that they have brought in Dilshan Madushanka for Harsh Dubey, which will give them another swing bowling option, he adds.

The captain of Chennai Super Kings - Ruturaj Gaikwad says it looks like a good track and they will look to chase. Adds that it is good to get a couple of wins, and they have started to do a few things right, and the key is to stay consistent and do the basics right. Mentions that in the last game, Noor Ahmad bowled really well and it's good to have him back on track and also gives credit to Anshul Kamboj for the way he bowled at the death. On the surface, Gaikwad says that it looks like a belter and says that they will try to restrict SRH to as low a total as possible.

TOSS - Toss time in Hyderabad. The two captains, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad, are gearing up and are having a bit of a chat before the flip of the coin. Kishan gives it a flick, and Gaikwad calls correctly. Chennai Super Kings will BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Former Aussie batter, Simon Katich, is pitchside. Katich starts by saying that bowling from the VVS Laxman end, the square boundaries are 63 meters and 67 meters on either side, and 77 meters in front. Former Protea pacer, Dale Steyn, joins him and says that there is no blade of grass on this deck, but it is incredibly hard and it is the same surface used in the last game. Feels that as a batting unit you need to go hard on this deck, but as a bowling unit you need to play aggressive cricket against aggressive cricket and not get defensive too soon.

CSK gunning for the hat-trick - Ruturaj Gaikwad leads a balanced Yellow Brigade that has seen Sanju Samson and young Ayush Mhatre find their rhythm at the perfect time and the Super Kings have managed to win a couple of games on the trot after losing their first 3 matches. CSK continue to suffer from injury blows, though, as Khaleel Ahmed is now ruled out for the entire season. With MS Dhoni still on the sidelines, a lot will reside on the shoulders of Shivam Dube in that middle order. With both teams looking to move up the points table and stabilize their season, this encounter is set to be a fascinating one. We can expect some high-octane hitting from both sides and it might be the bowling that ends up being the decisive factor. Stay tuned for the toss and team sheets.

SRH looking for back-to-back wins - The Sunrisers have blown hot and cold so far this season and their charismatic top order has been a bit erratic. However, they have managed to find at least a batter or two to play a big knock in every game thus far and they will be hoping that they are able to be more clinical as a batting unit. After a dominant victory over Rajasthan in their last home outing, the Sunrisers aim to use their raw bowling power, spearheaded by breakout debutants Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, to dismantle the visiting giants.

Battle of the Southern stars - Welcome to the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, where the Orange Army of Sunrisers Hyderabad is set to defend its fortress against the five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings. With both teams currently locked at 4 points each in the mid-table scramble, this evening’s clash is more than just a game, it’s a pivotal battle for momentum as we approach the midpoint of the season.

... MATCH DAY ...

Battle of equals - We are down to Match 27 of the 2026 Indian Premier League, which sees the Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Two teams with identical records of 2 wins in 5 games, but with contrasting trajectories. The Super Kings have won 2 in a row, but can they keep that momentum going away from home? As for the Sunrisers, they are yet to string wins together and will be looking to build on their last outing. Bowling finds new heroes - Hyderabad's latest victory, where they took down a then-unbeaten Rajasthan Royals side, would have given them a significant lift. Bowling had been a concern in the absence of their spearhead Pat Cummins, with the experienced duo of Jaydev Unadkat and Harshal Patel also struggling to step up. But they seem to have unearthed two new stars in Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, both of whom had dream debuts, picking up 4 wickets each against the Royals. Confidence will be high in the SRH camp after that performance, and there is further encouragement with Cummins nearing a return. Injuries cloud the progress - While there are positives, there are concerns as well. Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the season with an injury without featuring in a game, while David Payne, who came in as a replacement for Jack Edwards, has also been ruled out with an ankle injury. Sri Lankan left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka has been drafted in as Carse’s replacement, and his ability to get the new ball to talk, along with the left-arm angle, could add a different dimension to the attack. Klaasen the constant - When it comes to their batting, the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head have not quite had the impact they enjoyed in previous seasons, with consistency eluding them. The stand-in skipper, Ishan Kishan, has had a couple of impressive outings, but it has been Heinrich Klaasen who has been the beacon of consistency, averaging 44.8 this season. If the opening pair can rediscover their touch, and with Cummins’ return on the horizon, SRH could quickly transform into a far more formidable unit. Momentum meets a test -It has been a mixed start to the campaign for the five-time champions, with 3 defeats in a row before they bounced back with 2 wins. However, both those victories came at home. CSK have lost both their away games so far, and even in the 2025 season, they struggled on the road, managing just 3 wins in 8 matches away from home. Moreover, Hyderabad has not been a happy hunting ground for CSK. They have managed just 1 win in their last 5 IPL games at this venue and have lost on their last 3 visits. Mhatre the bright spot - While skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad continues to search for runs, his opening partner Sanju Samson has found form in the last couple of matches, which has coincided with their two wins. One of the standout performers with the bat has been Ayush Mhatre, who has thrived in the No. 3 role with 3 impactful knocks in his last 4 innings. Another blow for CSK - Their tryst with injuries has continued, particularly in the pace department. Nathan Ellis was ruled out before the start of the tournament, and his replacement, Spencer Johnson, is still recovering and yet to join the squad. The latest blow is Khaleel Ahmed, who has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a right quadricep injury in the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders. This comes at a time when their bowling had begun to show signs of improvement, with Khaleel playing a key role in keeping things tight even if wickets did not come. Mukesh Choudhary is a like-for-like option within the squad, but can he step up and fill that void if given an opportunity? The spin factor - After a quiet start to the tournament, Noor Ahmad found his rhythm against KKR. Alongside Akeal Hosein, the spin twins spun a web, and if they can replicate that against a strong SRH batting unit, CSK could well challenge their hosts despite their struggles away from home. Team form (Last 5 completed games, recent first) - SRH - WLLWL | CSK - WWLLL. Conditions under the lens - Just 2 games so far in Hyderabad this season, but run-scoring has not been as straightforward as in the past couple of seasons, where we witnessed plenty of high-scoring games and little assistance for the bowlers. The average run rate stood at 10.54 in 2024 and 10.28 in 2025, but it has dipped to 8.76 so far this season. The only night game here this season, between SRH and RR, saw a slightly sticky surface where hard lengths were not easy to put away. It will be interesting to see whether the pitch plays or offers something different.
