Commentary

Right then, that is it from this game where England make it three wins in a row. They seal the series and will want to continue the winning momentum while West Indies will play for their pride in the remaining couple of matches. The 4th T20I will be played on 16th November at 8 pm GMT, but as you know, you can always join us for all the build-up to the encounter. Until then, cheers and goodbye!

Jos Buttler, the victorious skipper of England says the collective effort to win the series is special. Adds that the bowlers have set the tone in all the games and Saqib Mahmood and Jofra Archer have been really good for them with the new ball. Mentions that they have a solid team and there is good competition for spots between the players which is a good sign. Appreciates Sam Curran and says the players are stepping up and putting in good performances. Concludes that they look forward to continuing the momentum.

Rovman Powell, the captain of West Indies says that it is pretty disappointing to lose so many wickets in the Powerplay. Adds that they did talk about it but they still lost wickets in clusters which makes things difficult. Tells that in this game, he and Romario Shepherd were able to build up a partnership but they need to be a bit more sensible which is missing from their game. Mentions that Akeal Hosein has been fantastic in this series and hopes that he continues the form. Ends by saying that the remaining two matches are still important as the fans will get to see two great T20I sides compete against each other and expects them to be good contests.

Saqib Mahmood is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his 3 wickets giving away just 17 runs. He says as a bowling unit they have had the mindset of picking early wickets against this fully stacked West Indies batting lineup. Adds that it has been great thus far and his relationship with Jofra Archer has only helped both. Mentions that it was a nervy finish towards the end and he did not want to bat and is really happy with the win.

Presentation Time...

Earlier in the game, West Indies staged a strong recovery to post a competitive total, despite losing half their side within the Powerplay. Skipper Rovman Powell led the way with a gritty 54 off 41, supported by valuable contributions from Romario Shepherd and Joseph down the order. Jamie Overton and Saqib Mahmood shared six wickets evenly between them, with the momentum shift sparked by a brilliant run-out from Jacob Bethell.

West Indies, on the other hand, will be disappointed with their effort. They began well in the Powerplay with Akeal Hosein picking up two crucial wickets. Alzarri Joseph followed it up with another to put the batters under pressure. However, they failed to build on that and let England build up a partnership to get back in the game. They did create opportunities but did not grab them. Gudakesh Motie managed to get a breakthrough in the middle overs, but Nicholas Pooran dropping Liam Livingstone twice in consecutive overs cost them the game. Hosein was the only shining light with four wickets while Terrance Hinds also finally got one wicket, but all in all, it was another disappointing outing for the Windies.

Liam Livingstone did get a couple of early lives and made sure to make the most of it. He lost Sam Curran at a crucial stage but kept his cool under pressure even with little support from the other end. He picked his moments, hung in there, and took England within touching distance before unfortunately getting out on 39 off 28. Jamie Overton and Rehan Ahmed finished the job for them sealing the series win as well.

England had a slow start and found themselves under pressure after early losses, with both Phil Salt and Jos Buttler falling quickly. Jacob Bethell couldn’t make much of an impact either. However, Will Jacks looked solid, and alongside Sam Curran, they steadied the innings with sensible batting, dispatching any loose deliveries. With no pressure from the required run rate, they could take their time and settle, setting the visitors up well. England faced a minor setback when Jacks departed after a steady 32 off almost a run a ball, but Curran and Liam Livingstone carried on, keeping things stable for a while.

ENGLAND MAKES IT 3-0 AND SEALS THE SERIES! A pretty good performance from them and they get a rare win in St. Lucia which has not been a happy hunting ground for them in the last couple of years. Credit to West Indies for dragging the game to the last over but they only have themselves to blame as they could not grab their moments while defending it.

Commentary

We are back with England's reply! The umpires are out and are followed by the explosive batting pair of Will Jacks and Phil Salt. West Indies spread across the field and skipper Rovman Powell hands the ball to Romario Shepherd who will start the proceedings for them. Away we go!

... THE RUN CHASE ...

With the dew setting in, bowling will be an even tougher challenge for West Indies, especially given the track record at this venue. Defending 145 runs won't be easy, and they'll have to produce an extraordinary effort to contain England's powerful batting lineup. England, on the other hand, will look to keep it straightforward and aim to wrap up the game and the series, without unnecessary drama. An exciting chase awaits, so stay tuned!

Jamie Overton is down for a quick chat. He says that a couple of back stress fractures is not good but he is happy to be back and bowling. Adds that he was rested in the last game and it was just precautionary as his body feels good now. Mentions that it is all about hitting the right areas and the top of off. Ends by saying that there is a bit of tennis ball like bounce on this wicket but hopes they will chase this down.

Skipper Rovman Powell joined forces with Romario Shepherd to stabilize the innings and build a crucial partnership. The experienced duo counterattacked the spinners, rescuing the West Indies from dire straits and forging a solid 73-run stand. However, Jamie Overton's return to the attack proved decisive, as he struck twice in a single over to swing the momentum back in England’s favour. Alzarri Joseph's quickfire 21 runs propelled West Indies to 145 runs which is certainly a decent score considering how the innings started. For England, Saqib Mahmood led the charge with three early wickets, while Overton claimed three towards the end. Powell’s fighting 54 was the bright spot, giving the West Indies bowlers something to defend.

After winning the toss again and choosing to bowl first, England had a dream start as Jacob Bethell’s superb throw in the opening over dismissed Shai Hope. From there, things unravelled quickly for the hosts. Saqib Mahmood and Jofra Archer tore through the West Indies' top order, reducing them to a dismal 39/5 by the end of the Powerplay. In this must-win match, the West Indies batters crumbled under pressure, giving away their wickets and plunging themselves into deeper trouble.

It’s been a commendable recovery from the West Indies to get to 145/8, with Alzarri Joseph adding crucial late runs to turn what seemed like a below-par total into something far more competitive. While they may still be short of an ideal score, they’ve kept themselves firmly in the contest. This game is far from over!

19.40

Missed stumping! Flatter, full and on middle, Alzarri Joseph uses his feet to go big but yorks himself and misses. Phil Salt fails to collect it cleanly and gives Josepsh the time to get back.

19.32

Fires a good yorker this time, outside off, Alzarri Joseph looks to slog it across the line but gets an inside edge towards square leg and denies the single.

19.14

Pitches it up, on middle, angling it in, Rovman Powell looks for the big heave across the line but this time fails to get enough on it. The ball flies in the air and straight to deep mid-wicket where Jacob Bethell runs forward a bit and pouches it safely.

Done with the pre-match formalities! We can see the England players spread out and take their respective field positions. Evin Lewis and Shai Hope are the two openers for West Indies. Jofra Archer has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

We are moments away from the start of the game but before that, the players from both sides make their way out to the middle and line up for their respective national anthems. First up, it will be St. Lucia's national anthem followed by the national anthem of England. Finally, it will conclude with the Rally 'Round the West Indies.

Rovman Powell, the captain of West Indies says that they have talked about their shortcomings and it is all about clarity. Adds that if they let England score big again in the Powerplay without taking wickets, they will be behind in the game. Says that if they do well in that phase, the middle overs will take care of themselves. Informs that they have three changes due to a few niggles here and there. Alzarri Joseph comes back in the team, and so do Shimron Hetmyer and Shai Hope.

Jos Buttler, the skipper of England says with the kind of weather around, they are looking to chase. Adds that they need to start well again despite this being a good wicket. Concludes that they have one change in the side with Adil Rashid missing out and Rehan Ahmed coming in.

West Indies (Playing XI) - Evin Lewis, Shai Hope (In place of Brandon King), Nicholas Pooran (WK), Rovman Powell (C), Shimron Hetmyer (In place of Sherfane Rutherford), Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Alzarri Joseph (In place of Matthew Forde), Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Terrance Hinds.

England (Playing XI) - Phil Salt (WK), Will Jacks, Jos Buttler (C), Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Rehan Ahmed (In place of Adil Rashid), Jofra Archer, Saqib Mahmood.

TOSS - The coin goes up in the air and Jos Buttler calls it right again. England have elected to BOWL first.

UPDATE - 8.21 pm GMT, Previous Day - Good news at last! All the covers are off and the players are heading out for warm-up drills. We now have a confirmed TOSS TIME as well – it’s set for 8.30 pm GMT (Previous Day) with the match set to begin 15 minutes later.

UPDATE - 8.07 pm GMT, Previous Day - The two umpires were out to the middle a little while ago for an inspection. Most of the covers are off now but the pitch is still under a big cover. Perhaps they are concerned about a dark cloud hovering above the ground and taking a precautionary measure. However, the umpires are still not satisfied with the condition of the outfield and we will have to wait for a bit long. Also, we have 60 minutes of buffer time before we start losing any overs.

Just In - The news coming from the England camp is that Reece Topley has been ruled out for the remainder of this series due to the knee injury he picked up in the opening game. Yet another setback for him, it seems like he just can't catch a break. Also, he has been fined by the ICC for smashing a chair showing his frustration while leaving the ground in the first match.

PITCH REPORT - Nikhil Uttamchandani is alongside Carlos Brathwaite for the Pitch analysis. Nikhil says all the games played at this venue have been won by the teams chasing and adds that this has been a high-scoring venue. Mentions the dimensions and says that the square boundaries are 63 meters while the straight boundary is 71 meters but wind will be a crucial factor to consider. Brathwaite joins him and mentions that there is even covering of grass and if the bowlers hit the right areas around the 6-8 meter mark, they will get a good purchase. Adds that the batters will enjoy and we can expect a high-scoring encounter.

Romario Shepherd is up for a flash interview. He says that they need to execute with the ball better and also do well with the bat as well. Adds that it is a big difference to bowl under lights and wind plays a big factor at this ground. Mentions that Russell not being here gives him a lot more responsibility. Ends by saying that Dre Russ is a big miss as he can have an impact with both bat and ball but now he has to pull up his socks for the team in Russell's absence.

UPDATE - 7.43 pm GMT, Previous Day - It is not raining currently now but due to the overnight rain there were a few wet patches in the outfield. The umpires are concerned about that and the ground staff are working on it to get the ground ready as soon as possible.

Liam Livingstone is down for a chat. He says this pitch could play better while the toss was crucial in the first two games. Adds that there is a bit more pace and bounce here which is good for everybody and they are looking forward to playing here. Mentions the depth they have as a side and says there are a lot of exciting players coming up. Concludes that the last 6 months have been great for him and he looks to continue and win games for his team while enjoying the game.

UPDATE - 7.33 pm GMT, Previous Day - Well, the toss should have been done by now but it has started to rain in St. Lucia. The covers are on at the moment and the toss is officially delayed. We hope it is just a passing shower and we get some action soon.

The weather is slightly overcast, but we remain optimistic that it won't play spoilsport in what promises to be a thrilling contest. With the series potentially on the line, both teams are set to give it their all, leaving no room for error. England, riding high on form and momentum, will be a tough nut to crack, but West Indies will be determined to fight back, reclaim their confidence, and keep the series alive. Stay tuned as the toss and team updates are just around the corner - this is a match you won’t want to miss!

England, on the other hand, have been clinical in both matches, asserting their dominance with well-rounded performances. The return of Jos Buttler, not just as captain but as a dynamic batter, was a game-changer in the previous match, where he made a storming comeback after a tough first game. His presence strengthens an already fierce and in-form batting lineup, posing a significant challenge for the West Indies bowlers. On the bowling front, England may consider a couple of changes. John Turner could be in line for his T20I debut if England decide to rest Jofra Archer and if Reece Topley remains sidelined due to the injury he sustained in the first game.

West Indies have struggled to carry their momentum from the ODI series win, with their top-order batting proving to be a significant concern in the first two T20Is. Traditionally, the West Indies have been a powerhouse with the bat in the shortest format, and it’s hard to imagine them not bouncing back to their trademark aggressive style. However, with the series on the line, the urgency to deliver has never been higher. The return of Alzarri Joseph into the squad will add much-needed balance to the side, bolstering both their bowling and overall confidence.

Hello and a warm welcome to the third T20I between West Indies and England, coming to you from the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia! England have stormed to a 2-0 lead in the series with dominant performances, leaving the hosts, West Indies, in a must-win situation entering this match. With the series on the line, the West Indies will be banking on this change of venue to turn their fortunes around. Meanwhile, England will be looking to maintain their momentum and close out the series with another commanding display.

... MATCH DAY ...

What a return to form for English skipper Jos Buttler as he led his side to a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series against West Indies and with the Barbados leg of the tour done and dusted, the teams now move to Gros Islet in St. Lucia for the remainder of the matches. Hosts West Indies did pip the ODI series 2-1 against an undercooked English team but now, with their stellar T20I lineup, they just haven't managed to do the damage with the bat which really is concerning and the loss of Andre Russell due to injury is a big blow to them as well. The top order has been the main culprit with the likes of Brandon King and Evin Lewis just not firing and Nicholas Pooran hasn't been able to replicate his form from a few months back. Shai Hope who was prolific in the ODI series has been on the bench and maybe it is time, the Windies give the ODI skipper a chance in the T20 format as well. One positive for West Indies is the return of Alzarri Joseph from suspension after his antics in the ODI series and he will be back with more fire and hunger. However, Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein will have to play a big role if the Windies are to stay alive in the series. England on the other hand have looked solid with the bat as the top order has fired in both games. Phil Salt made a century in the first game followed by Buttler's 83 in the 2nd game. The likes of Will Jacks and Jacob Bethell too have contributed with the bat, and that destructive middle order hasn't even had the chance which is not good signs for West Indies. England did lose Reece Topley due to an injury in the first game but Jofra Archer took his place in the following match and it has been Saqib Mahmood who has been doing the damage in those early overs allowing someone like Adil Rashid to then come in and control the middle phase. The odds are highly stacked up against the hosts but it is a different venue which they know better and this could be the one game they need to turn things around but it won't be easy against and upbeat England lineup. Who are you backing for the win?
