Commentary

That brings this thrilling three-match ODI series to a close, with Pakistan etching their name in history by defeating Australia 2-1. It’s a monumental achievement, and skipper Mohammad Rizwan proudly lifts the trophy and hands it over to the youngsters of the side as they pose for photographs - a moment that will be cherished for years to come. It’s been a remarkable month for the Men in Green, having already conquered England in a home Test series and now capping it with an ODI series triumph against Australia on their turf. The cricketing action doesn’t end here, as both teams now shift their focus to the shortest format. A three-match T20I series awaits, starting on Thursday, November 14th, at 8 am GMT from The Gabba in Brisbane. Be sure to join us early for all the pre-match excitement. Until then, goodbye and cheers!

Mohammad Rizwan, the victorious skipper of Pakistan says it is very special for him and they as a team have exceeded expectations and made the country proud. Adds that as a captain he wants to be involved in the game in every aspect and takes advice from everyone. Mentions that it's great to see a complete team performance. Appreciates the bowlers and also mentions the openers and says they gave the team solid starts which set things up for them nicely.

Josh Inglis, Australia's Captain, says that he is pretty disappointed with the team's performance and with the total runs on the board. Adds that every player has a specific role to play and unfortunately for them, they did not click as a whole. Mentions that he would have liked to have more runs on the board to make this match better but they couldn’t do it. Concludes that they weren’t good and up to the expectations.

Haris Rauf is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH AND THE SERIES for his 10 wickets across the three games! Rauf says that this series win means a lot to them and every supporter of Pakistan. Adds that they have struggled in the last couple of months and it was very important for them to win here. Mentions that it is great to see the crowd come here and support which gives them that extra motivation. Says that they practised a lot in the nets and the communication between all the bowlers was really good and they used the conditions perfectly. Tells that everyone knows Maxi is a superstar but luck was on his side as he got him out three times in the series.

It's time for the Presentation Ceremony...

Earlier in the game, Pakistan’s pace attack tore through the Australian lineup. Naseem Shah set the tone by dismissing Jake Fraser-McGurk early, and Shaheen Afridi led a relentless charge that saw Australian batters departing in quick succession. Matthew Short displayed some resistance but lacked support, while Sean Abbott’s late cameo of 30 was the top score - a telling sign of Australia’s struggles. Cooper Connolly’s injury added to their woes. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah took three wickets each, while Haris Rauf got two and Mohammad Hasnain contributed with a key dismissal in a dominant Pakistani performance.

The Pakistan team takes a victory lap, acknowledging the tremendous support from fans here at Perth. It's been a challenging year across formats, but the recent months have marked a turning point for them. This resurgence is something they’ll be determined to carry forward into the future.

Australia had a few opportunities but lapses in the field while defending a modest total were costly. Their pacers managed to occasionally trouble the Pakistani batters with sharp, hard-hit deliveries but struggled with the consistency and precision seen by their counterparts. Lance Morris, however, reignited hopes with a double-wicket over that broke an 84-run opening stand, injecting some energy into the Aussie attack. The bowlers pressed on and built pressure around the chase for a bit, but the composure and experience of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan ultimately guided Pakistan home comfortably with more than 23 overs remaining sealing the game with 8 wickets in hand.

Chasing 141, Pakistan's young openers, Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub, yet again approached the target with poise, ensuring a steady start with no early slip-ups to give Australia any opening. They showed respect for good deliveries while dispatching the loose ones to keep the chase firmly in their control. The hosts' erred by bowling too full at times, offering breathing room and missed their chance to apply early pressure, effectively dampening their hopes of a fightback.

Australia’s batting struggles throughout the series have been a major talking point. Despite fielding a less experienced lineup in this final ODI, the talent and depth were present but fell short against a Pakistan side that adapted to conditions superbly and outclassed them comprehensively. Australia now remains winless in ODIs at this venue.

Pakistan create history! A sensational effort from the Men in Green as they crush the defending world champions to clinch a 2-1 series victory, marking their first ODI series win in Australia in 22 years. This moment will be etched in cricketing history, and Mohammad Rizwan's side will cherish this landmark achievement for a long time to come.

Commentary

We are back for the chase in this decider! The Aussies are in a huddle just outside the boundary ropes where Josh Inglis is giving a last-minute pep talk. Now, they spread out to take their respective field positions. Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique are the two openers for Pakistan. Spencer Johnson to start proceedings with the ball. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

There is not much to say about Australia's batting performance. They struggled once again to handle the express pace and swing from the Pakistan bowlers and no one really stepped up in this game in the absence of the big players. Matthew Short looked good at the top but it was Sean Abbott who top-scored with a handy 30 off 41. The injury to Cooper Connolly didn't help but there were six single-digit scores which says a lot about this effort. A return to the ODI side after almost a year did not work out for Marcus Stoinis while Glenn Maxwell became a victim of Haris Rauf for the third time in the series. It is a sorry-looking scorecard, and now the bowlers will have to do something really extraordinary to stop Pakistan from sealing a memorable series win. Join us in a bit for the second essay.

A world-class display of fast bowling from Pakistan! This is exactly what they used to do to teams in the past and it is great to see them performing well at the top level. The Men in Green have put them in a solid position to wrap up a memorable series win over the Aussies on Australian soil and create history. The hosts have never won an ODI at the Optus Stadium and once again, they are starring down the barrel of another defeat.

Naseem Shah set the tone early by getting rid of Jake Fraser-McGurk in the fourth over. After that, they never really looked back and continued to pile the pressure on the Aussies. The pace battery of Pakistan exploited the conditions brilliantly and gave nothing away. Shaheen Afridi was at his absolute best and ended up with three wickets while Shah also picked up three. Haris Rauf continued his good form and got a couple taking his tally to 10 in this series while Mohammad Hasnain chipped in with one. Mohammad Rizwan used only these four bowlers, and they did the job for their skipper bowling Australia for just 140 inside 32 overs.

31.5W

OUT! TIMBER! Pakistan have ripped Australia apart for just 140 runs in under 32 overs! With Cooper Connolly retired hurt, that drops the curtains on what has been a forgetful batting inning for the hosts. Shaheen Afridi charges in and fires it full, on off, Lance Morris is squared up a bit with the pace behind the ball and misses to jam it out. The ball sneaks past the outside edge and rattles the stumps.

31.40

Full and on off, Lance Morris gets an outside edge that rolls behind to slip trying to play at it with a straight bat.

Lance Morris is the last man in for Australia as Cooper Connolly will not be returning for any further action in this game.

31.3W

OUT! CAUGHT! Doesnt make the most of the chance and Sean Abbott after a handy knock of 30 (41) has to walk back. Shaheen Afridi takes some pace off and hits the deck hard, on a back of a length and on middle, Sean Abbott looks to punch it straight back over the bowler's head but fails to read the lack of pace. Goes through with the shot early and chops it high over mid on. Haris Rauf swivels back and takes a good running catch behind to get the big wicket Pakistan were after!

31.20

Just short of Mohammad Hasnain! The lack of timing saves Sean Abbott this time! Short and on middle, Sean Abbott miscues his pull in front of deep fine leg. Hasnain charges down to the ball but it just dips in front of him despite a dive. Abbott takes no run!

31.10

Comes back into the attack and digs it short, over off, Sean Abbott swings across to pull but misses.

31.20

Shaheen Afridi is hurt after that nasty blow on the left thumb. The physio is out and the umpires have decided to take a drinks break! Pakistan have maintained relentless pressure so far, but this partnership of 24 runs may be starting to test their patience. Australia have plenty of overs and time on their side, and their focus will be to steadily accumulate runs and build momentum. If they can push the scoreboard closer to the 160-run mark, they’ll give themselves a real opportunity to challenge Pakistan's batting. With that said, Shaheen Afridi seems fit to continue and he'll be hoping to break this stand and pile pressure back on the Aussies!

Australian openers, Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk walk confidently to the crease, ready to face the challenge ahead. At the top of his mark is Shaheen Afridi ready to start the proceedings. Here we go!

Pakistan (Playing XI) - Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan(C/WK), Kamran Ghulam, Salman Agha, Irfan Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Hasnain.

Australia (Playing XI) - Matthew Short, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis (C/WK), Cooper Connolly, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Sean Abbott, Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson, Lance Morris.

TOSS - Pakistan have won the coin flip and they have decided to bowl first!

Pakistan, meanwhile, comes into the decider brimming with confidence and momentum. Haris Rauf, clearly benefiting from his Big Bash League experience, has been phenomenal with 8 wickets in 2 games, including a brilliant five-for last match. Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have also thrived on these pace-friendly wickets. Their openers, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique, found form just in time, though Babar Azam's performance remains a concern. Skipper Rizwan has been steady in the middle order, adding consistency. Newcomers Kamran Ghulam and Irfan Khan will be eager to make their mark and push Pakistan toward a memorable series win. Will the Men in Green make history, or can Australia mount a comeback? Stay tuned - Toss and team news are coming right up.

With Cummins absent, Josh Inglis steps up to lead the side. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk have a prime opportunity to stake their claim for a future opening spot. The bowling lineup may look a bit different, but with three top-notch all-rounders like Stoinis, Maxwell, and Hardie, the team gains a solid balance. The young players will be eager to make an impact, and familiar home conditions should boost their confidence heading into this decider.

Australia grabbed the lead with a hard-fought victory, thanks to skipper Pat Cummins’ clutch performance with the bat. But the visitors struck back with commanding dominance in the second game. Truthfully, Australia’s batting has looked shaky in both matches, and now, with the 'big five' – Smith, Marnus, Starc, Hazlewood, and Cummins – rested ahead of the upcoming Test series, it’ll be intriguing to see how they rise to the challenge in this series decider.

Hello and a warm welcome, everyone! The Australian summer has kicked off with a thrilling start. The three-match ODI series against Pakistan is perfectly poised at 1-1, setting the stage for an exciting decider at the stunning Optus Stadium in Burswood. We’ve been treated to some fantastic cricket across the first two games, and with the stakes higher than ever, more entertainment is certainly on the cards.

... MATCH DAY ...

The caravan has moved to Perth for the third and final ODI between Australia and Pakistan, with the series perfectly poised at 1-1. The Perth Stadium will serve as the stage for this deciding clash, and both teams will be eager to secure the series victory. In the second ODI in Adelaide, Pakistan’s pace attack was relentless, where they bowled out Australia for a modest 163 before comfortably chasing it down with just one wicket lost in 26.3 overs. Australia will be looking for a swift turnaround after the heavy defeat in Adelaide, but they will have to do so without some of their most seasoned players. Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Steven Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne have been rested to ensure they are fresh for the upcoming Test series against India. Josh Inglis will lead a relatively inexperienced squad, particularly in the bowling department, with opportunities likely for Lance Morris, Xavier Bartlett, and Spencer Johnson to step up and fill the void left by the rested pace trio. Marcus Stoinis, who has yet to feature in the series, is expected to slot in and lend some much-needed experience in both batting and bowling. For Pakistan, Haris Rauf spearheaded their bowling effort with a superb five-wicket haul, building on his form from Melbourne, while the rest of the pace attack provided excellent support to stifle Australia’s batting. The visitors head into the Perth decider with momentum firmly in their grasp, following a clinical display in Adelaide. Historically, they have been a team that has become difficult to stop once they have gathered momentum, whether in bilateral series or ICC tournaments. A win here would be momentous for Pakistan, who haven’t clinched an ODI series in Australia since 2002. Since then, they have faced heavy defeats, with scorelines of 5-0 and 4-1 in favour of the hosts. With Australia missing five key players in this match, Pakistan have a golden opportunity to rewrite history in Perth. Can they make it happen and turn the series in their favour? We shall find out soon enough.
