It's semifinal time!  The Group Stage of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup comes to a thrilling conclusion, with Australia Women maintaining their unbeaten run and knocking India Women out of the tournament. Now, the focus shifts to the knockout stage, where every game is do or die. Australia Women will be back in action in the first semifinal against West Indies on Tuesday, 30th June, at 1.30 pm GMT. The second semifinal sees hosts England Women take on South Africa Women on Thursday, 2nd July, at 5.30 pm GMT. Both matches will be played at the iconic The Oval in London, and you can join us early for all the build-up and live coverage. Until then, it's goodbye and take care!

The victorious skipper of Australia Women - Sophie Molineux says there was momentum at both ends during the first innings. She notes that her bowlers used the short boundary down the slope and the wind to their advantage, and credits them for applying good cricketing awareness throughout the game. She adds that the team stayed committed to the contest regardless of how the Powerplay unfolded. Molineux also mentions that Ellyse Perry felt 170 was a chaseable target, and backed that belief with her performance, going out confidently to pursue the total alongside Ashleigh Gardner.

The captain for India Women - Harmanpreet Kaur feels India Women posted a competitive total, although she believes they are a little short while batting before the strong finish in the final overs lifted the score. She says they were looking for runs, but just could not get it. Reflecting on the tournament, Harmanpreet admits India did not perform well enough against the stronger teams and believes the side have to produce its best cricket in such matches. She also feels dropped catches prove costly and says the team did not play to its usual standards. Looking ahead, she believes the group needs to reflect deeply and rethink several aspects to improve going forward.

Time to hear from the two captains now...

Costly middle overs prove decisive - India Women made the perfect start as Renuka Singh struck in the opening over and the bowlers backed it up with disciplined lines, building pressure through plenty of dot balls. However, Australia Women collected 24 runs in the final two overs of the Powerplay to wrest back some momentum. Sree Charani then turned the game with two quick wickets, leaving Australia needing 99 from the last 10 overs. But a 17-run over from Radha Yadav before the drinks break, followed by a 16-run over from Charani after it, swung the momentum completely. From there, Australia never looked back, while a few sloppy moments in the field only added to India's woes as the chase was completed with an over to spare.

Harmanpreet's blitz powers India to 170 - Earlier in the game, India Women posted a competitive total, thanks to a fluent 66-run opening stand between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. Jemimah Rodrigues kept the momentum going through the middle overs, but it was skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who stole the show with a magnificent 27-ball 56, providing the late impetus. Australia Women's bowling effort was a mixed one. Most of the bowlers kept things tidy, while Sophie Molineux picked up two wickets, but the costly final over, which went for 23 runs, swung the momentum firmly in India's favour.

Perry, Gardner crush India's hopes - Despite losing Georgia Voll in the first over and struggling for boundaries early, Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney ensured Australia Women finished the Powerplay strongly with 49/1. Both then fell in quick succession, but Ellyse Perry once again rose to the occasion. The veteran starred with a superb 56, adding a match-winning 100-run stand with Ashleigh Gardner as the pair paced the chase to perfection and never allowed India Women a way back. Perry fell before the finish, but by then she had all but sealed India's fate, with Gardner staying unbeaten on 53 off 29 to seal the highest-ever chase in the history of the T20 World Cup.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Ellyse Perry wins the award for her excellent knock of 56 off 38 balls. She calls it a wonderful day for the team, highlighting the incredible atmosphere and the significance of the occasion. She notes their strong history of contests against India and expressed satisfaction at getting over the line. Perry emphasized the importance of building a solid partnership through the middle overs to set up a strong finish. She praises Ash Gardner for her outstanding performance and credits her crucial contribution with the bat. She also reflects positively on the tournament overall, appreciating the support from crowds at all venues. Looking ahead, she says her focus is now on the semifinals, intending to help her side go all the way.

India bow out as Australia reign supreme - Australia Women finish the Group Stage unbeaten, making it five wins from five and sending out a strong statement that they are determined to reclaim the T20 World Cup crown. A superb all-round performance not only sees them defeat India Women but also knocks them out of the tournament. That result sends South Africa Women through to the semifinals alongside the Australians, sparking celebrations in the Proteas camp after their earlier victory. In contrast, it is heartbreak for India Women, with emotions spilling over as their World Cup journey comes to an end.

Commentary

We are back for Australia's reply! India Women are in a huddle, where Harmanpreet Kaur is providing some final words of inspiration before taking the field. Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney are the two Aussie openers. Renuka Singh Thakur to start proceedings with the ball. Richa Ghosh, the keeper, is standing up to the stumps. Here we go...

…THE RUN CHASE…

Exciting chase ahead - Chasing 171, Australia will need a strong batting performance to extend their unbeaten run. India, meanwhile, head into the innings break with momentum on their side and will be confident of defending this total. Who are you backing from here? Join us shortly for the second innings.

A quick word - Smriti Mandhana praises Harmanpreet Kaur for anchoring the innings brilliantly and helping India Women reach 170, while also crediting Shafali Verma for providing some crucial early boundaries. She feels 170 is a competitive total on the Lord's surface, which offers assistance to the bowlers.Speaking about the conditions, Mandhana says the pitch provides a bit of help for the seamers in the first three to four overs, although she believes shots played straight down the ground are rewarded.Reflecting on her run-out, she brushes it aside, saying such moments can happen in front of a big crowd during an India match. With the team posting 170, she feels the dismissal no longer matters.

A mixed effort on the field - For Australia Women, Lucy Hamilton, Kim Garth, and Georgia Wareham were the standout bowlers, while Sophie Molineux chipped in with two wickets but proved expensive. Australia also put down three catches, and their fielding suggested they may have taken things a little too lightly.

Late surge from India - India Women finished strongly, scoring 36 runs in the final two overs to post an impressive 170/4 from their 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur led from the front with a blistering 56 off just 27 balls, while valuable contributions from the top order laid the perfect platform for a late surge in this must-win encounter. Batting first, Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma provided a solid start with a 66-run opening partnership, before Jemimah Rodrigues kept the momentum going through the middle overs. Harmanpreet then capped off the innings in style, powering India to a commanding total with a superb finishing flourish.

FOUR! A streaky boundary to end the innings! 23 runs off the final over. Sophie Molineux slows it full and on leg, Deepti Sharma goes down for the sweep but gets a top edge as the ball races away towards third man. The fielder from short third chases and tries to push it back inside with a dive, but the ball still rolls back. The fine leg fielder also tries to keep it in but she also fails to do so. The on-field umpire gets confirmation that it is four runs. India Women finish on 170/4!

A magnificent knock comes to an end. Deepti Sharma comes in next.

19.5W

OUT! TAKEN! Australia Women finally manage to hold on to one. Sophie Molineux goes a bit fuller and quicker, on off. Harmanpreet Kaur backs away to slap it away but hits it much flatter. It travels quickly to mid off, where Ellyse Perry takes a good catch. Kaur has played a really crucial knock here in a crunch game.

19.46

DROPPED AND SIX! The wheels are coming off for the Aussies here at the back end. Floated, full and on off, Harmanpreet Kaur once again gives the charge and ties to go big down the ground but this time fails to get the elevation. It flies towards long off, where Phoebe Litchfield tries to grab it with a reverse cup above her head but the ball slips through and goes over the ropes. Hat-trick of biggies!

19.36

SIX MORE! Skipper on the charge here! That also brings up the FIFTY for Harmanpreet Kaur in just 25 balls. Flighted, full and on middle and leg. Kaur steps out again, hits through the line and launches it over the long off fence for another biggie. A half-century to remember at the Home of Cricket in the T20 World Cup.

19.26

SIX! Straight as an arrow! Tossed up, full and on middle. Harmanpreet Kaur dances down the track to get to the pitch of it and tonks it over the bowler's head for a biggie. 150 up for India Women!

19.11

Flatter, full and around off, Richa Ghosh slices it over extra covers for a single.

Last over coming up. Sophie Molineux to bowl. Richa Ghosh comes in at the crease now. India Women have retired out Jemimah Rodrigues.

Jemimah Rodrigues has not recovered from the injury suffered and won't be able to participate any more with the bat. As it stands, Jemimah Rodrigues is retired out.

It flies towards deep square leg, where Georgia Wareham runs to her left and tries to reverse cup but it bursts through her hands and lands over the ropes for a biggie.

18.40

Hard length and on middle, Jemimah Rodrigues backs away and swats it down the pitch. Annabel Sutherland does well to get low on her follow-through to make the stop.

18.31

Touch fuller and on off, Harmanpreet Kaur goes for the slog sweep but gets a top edge. It flies towards deep square leg but Georgia Wareham puts the brake and collects it on the bounce. They cross.

A slower ball, low full toss on off. Rodrigues drills it past the bowler and down the ground for a couple.

DRINKS! India Women have built up a good platform for themselves and will look to make the most of the remaining six overs, with a lot of firepower still left in the batting. Scoring runs is not that easy on this track and Australia Women will look to create pressure through dot balls. If they can manage to pick up a couple of quick wickets, they can expose the Indian middle order, which has blown hot and cold. Annabel Sutherland to bowl after the break.

Everything is in readiness for one final time in the Group Stage! A packed Lord's is buzzing with anticipation, with a sea of blue dominating the stands, though there's plenty of yellow adding to the atmosphere as well. Australia Women break from their huddle and spread out into their fielding positions. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma stride out to open the innings for India Women, while Lucy Hamilton has the new ball in hand and is raring to get things underway. It's time to play!

We are just moments away from this blockbuster clash at Lord's, but before the action gets underway, it's time for one of the pre-match traditions. The giant flags of the two nations unfurl as the players walk out and line up for the national anthems. It will be India's anthem first, followed by Australia's, before all eyes turn to what promises to be a fascinating contest.

Pre-match thoughts - Nicola Carey says Australia Women are determined to finish the Group Stage with a win and carry momentum into the semifinals. She adds that playing at Lord's is always special, with the buzzing atmosphere making the occasion even more exciting for the team. She admits batting at the venue is challenging because of the slope, but believes Australia's experience from The Hundred and County Cricket gives them a good understanding of the conditions. Having watched the previous game, the side has a fair idea of how the pitch is likely to play, though she stresses both teams will need to adapt. Reflecting on her previous innings, Carey praises the top order for consistently contributing and says she is enjoying batting lower down the order. Looking ahead to the clash with India Women, she calls it a huge contest against a quality side, expects a largely India-supporting crowd, and hopes for another exciting encounter.

PITCH REPORT - Natalie Germanos is pitchside. She says that the square boundaries measure 58m and 65m, while the straight boundary is 71m. Adds that the match will be played on the same pitch that produced South Africa Women's thrilling win over Bangladesh Women earlier in the day. Matthew Hayden joins her and notes that the surface offered plenty for the bowlers, while highlighting the prodigious swing generated by Marizanne Kapp and Marufa Akter on that pitch. He also believes there will be enough assistance for the spinners.

Australia Women (Playing XI) - Beth Mooney (WK), Georgia Voll, Phoebe Litchfield (In place of Alana King), Ellyse Perry, Ashleigh Gardner, Georgia Wareham, Annabel Sutherland, Nicola Carey, Sophie Molineux (C), Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton.

India Women (Playing XI) - Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Richa Ghosh (WK), Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Kranti Gaud (In place of Nandni Sharma), Sree Charani, Renuka Singh Thakur.

Skipper of Australia Women - Sophie Molineux says they were looking to bowl first anyway. Sophie informs that Phoebe Litchfield makes her way in the side and Alana King is missing from the XI due to conditions and matchups. Sophie Molineux mentions that every game in the World Cup gives a feel of a final, and it is good to have had a bit of a break before this game.

Skipper of India Women - Harmanpreet Kaur wins the toss and opts to bat first. She says it is an important match and the team wants to bat with freedom. She also confirms one change, with Kranti Gaud coming in for Nandni Sharma, adding that her experience will be valuable. She concludes by saying it is a fresh day and a fresh game, and they are looking to enjoy the occasion.

TOSS - Success for Harmanpreet Kaur at the coin flip. India Women will be BATTING first.

Group A qualification scenario - Following Bangladesh's elimination after their defeat against South Africa in the first match of the double-header, the Proteas have provisionally climbed to second place in Group A. This definitive outcome sets the stage perfectly for the upcoming high-stakes encounter between Australia and India, with both teams now knowing exactly what is required to qualify. For India Women, this is a must-win game, any result other than a win for them will crash them out of the tournament.

Lord’s set for a blockbuster finish - The conditions at Lord’s are expected to offer plenty of value for batters, setting the stage for an entertaining contest. With a packed crowd expected at the Home of Cricket, the atmosphere promises to match the occasion. Will India rise to the challenge and secure a coveted semi-final berth, or will Australia extend their flawless run through the group stage? Toss and team news are coming up shortly. Stay tuned.

India seek statement win - India Women head into this contest second in the Group A standings, with their semi-final fate firmly in their own hands. Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Jemimah Rodrigues have anchored the batting unit with consistent performances, while Shree Charani, Deepti Sharma, Nandini Sharma, and Radha Yadav have been instrumental with the ball. Against one of the tournament's strongest sides, the Women in Blue will need to deliver their most complete performance yet to book their place in the final four.

Australia eye perfect group stage finish - Australia Women have once again underlined why they are one of the favourites for the title, cruising through the group stage unbeaten. Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Georgia Voll, and Ashleigh Gardner have starred with the bat, while Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham have delivered impactful all-round performances. With the ball, Sophie Molineux, Kim Garth, and Lucy Hamilton have consistently applied pressure through disciplined spells and timely breakthroughs. The six-time champions will be keen to carry their winning momentum into the knockout rounds.

Semi-Final spot on the line -  Welcome to our coverage of Match 30 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The group stage concludes with a blockbuster Group A clash as India Women take on Australia Women at Lord’s in London. The stakes are clear for India, a victory will secure a place in the semi-finals. Australia, meanwhile, have all but confirmed their qualification after winning each of their four matches and will be looking to finish the league stage with a perfect record.

... MATCH DAY ...

Sunday blockbuster - The final act of the group stage takes us to Lord's, where Australia and India add another chapter to one of cricket's greatest rivalries. Australia are all but through to the semifinals with the cushion they hold over the chasing pack. Even with a defeat, they are likely to retain top spot unless it is a loss of a magnitude few would have imagined. Having seen their ODI World Cup title defence ended by India in last year's semifinal, the six-time champions would dearly love the opportunity to return the favour. It is now or never for India. A win should be enough to seal a place in the semifinals, given their superior net run rate over Bangladesh and South Africa. Need more from the middle order - Nearly 50 per cent of India's runs in the tournament have come from Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma, underlining just how heavily the batting has relied on its opening pair. The concern has been the middle order, which has struggled to build on the platforms laid by the openers. Too often, the innings has lost momentum once the opening stand has been broken. No room for errors - India's fielding has also hurt them at crucial moments. They dropped Marizanne Kapp twice against South Africa, with those chances proving costly, before putting down four opportunities inside the Powerplay against Bangladesh. Against an Australian side that bats deep, every chance will have to be taken. Pace combination under scrutiny - India have continually tinkered with their pace attack and have not fielded the same pair of seamers in consecutive matches. The constant chopping and changing also raises questions about how much it affects the confidence and rhythm of the bowlers. When these two sides met in Australia earlier this year, Arundhati Reddy finished as the leading wicket-taker with 8 wickets in 3 matches. Could India be tempted into yet another change for this must-win encounter? Firing on all fronts - Wins by 65 runs, 98 runs, 113 runs and the other with 9 wickets and 63 balls to spare tell the story of Australia's campaign. The six-time champions have swept aside every opponent with minimum fuss and will be eager to carry that momentum into the semifinals. There have been contributions right through the batting order, with Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry leading the run-scoring charts, but virtually every batter has made an impact at some stage of the tournament. Selection headache - Phoebe Litchfield could be in line for a return after missing the last three games with a quad injury. The last time she faced India in a World Cup fixture, she produced a breathtaking century in the ODI World Cup semifinal, and her availability now presents the Australian think tank with a welcome selection headache over who makes way. An attack in sync - With the ball, they have been as clinical as ever, with contributions coming from every department. Georgia Wareham and Sophie Molineux have spearheaded the spin attack, sharing 11 wickets between them while keeping the scoring rate firmly in check. The seamers have supported them well, with Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland and Ellyse Perry all making breakthroughs to underline why Australia possess one of the most complete bowling attacks in the tournament. Team form (Last 5 completed WT20Is, recent first) - AUS-W - WWWWW | IND-W - WLWWL. Conditions check - This week, London has experienced a severe heatwave and, with the sun baking down over the past few days, a dry surface could be on the cards. If that is the case, the spinners are likely to have a much bigger say than the seamers. History favours Australia - The head-to-head record in T20Is is heavily stacked in Australia's favour, with the six-time champions leading 27-9. They have also won each of the last three T20 World Cup meetings between the two sides. Australia head into this contest on the back of seven consecutive T20I wins and have won 14 of their 16 T20Is since the start of 2025, with India handing them their only two defeats during that period. All the ingredients are in place for another enthralling chapter in one of women's cricket's biggest rivalries.
