India's top-order woes continued in the big games as all went out for cheap scores and neither of them for once looked settled on the crease. Axar Patel has been their best batter so far but with the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin still to come, India will feel that if they capitalise on the bad deliveries then 100 runs can be wiped out in no time. We had pretty exciting cricket on Days 1 and 2 of the game but the best action was reserved for Day 3 as both teams kept on fighting tooth and nail, leaving the game hanging on a knife edge. Bangladesh do have a slight advantage as they have sent the Indian top 4 packing and will know that a couple of early wickets here and the game can be won.

... DAY 4, SESSION 1 ...

Right then, we have had 3 exciting days of Test cricket and after those three days, we can't pick a winner. It looked to be India's game all the way but the hosts have come roaring back and have a real chance of leveling the series here. 100 runs are needed for India to win with 6 wickets in hand and a couple of in-form batters yet to come. Bangladesh will pray that their spin trio comes good and does the job for them. Whatever the result may be, we will surely get a lot of entertainment. Day 4 will begin on Sunday at 9 am IST (3.30 am GMT) but you can join us for the early build-up as usual. Cheers!

The man of the moment, Mehidy Hasan is in for a quick chat. He says that he is happy with his spell. Adds that the wicket is turning well and it is all about hitting the right lengths. Says that they will try to get early wickets tomorrow and Virat Kohli's wicket was an important one. Ends by saying that they need to improve their bowling and do well.

India had the game in the palm of their hands until the second session on Day 3 began but since then, they seemed to have let go of their advantage. They did manage to clean up Bangladesh but did concede at least 50 runs more than they should have as they had the hosts on the ropes at one point. This could prove to be costly as their top order has failed miserably yet again. The skipper, KL Rahul was the first to go and then both Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill tried to use their feet to counter the spin but were stumped. Virat Kohli occupied the crease without showing much intent and was ultimately dismissed. The only positive with the bat has been Axar Patel who has mustered up important runs for his side. The good thing for India is that the in-form batter, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are yet to come but it will be an uphill task when they come out to bat on Day 4.

Bangladesh got bundled out after a few spirited performances with the bat for 231 runs and had 144 runs to play with. They needed wickets in the final session to have a shot at glory and boy, they have dominated with the ball here. Right from the very first ball that Shakib Al Hasan bowled, Bangladesh knew they will get opportunities. Shakib did get a wicket early in the innings and that set the tone. Shakib and Taijul Islam continued to create chances but it was Mehidy Hasan who proved to be the difference-maker as he picked up three wickets for just 12 runs, sending back 3 big guns for India in the process. The hosts have all the momentum going into the fourth day and will look to make early inroads in order to put the opposition under even more pressure.

Wow, what a day of Test cricket have just witnessed! Well, they don't call Day 3 the moving day for nothing. A total of 14 wickets fell throughout the course of the day and in the end, the pendulum did swing in favour of the hosts who will now believe that they can pull off the upset. India still need 100 more runs to win but have lost their top four batters which might play a huge role in the outcome.

Shubman Gill grabs it quickly and throws it a bit high towards Axar Patel at the non striker's end. He is quick enough to whip the bails off. The replay shows that Khaled Ahmed was just behind the line and Bangladesh are bundled out for 231 runs. Bangladesh end with a lead of 144 runs.

Is that a run-out? Looked like a straightforward opportunity but the throw from Shubman Gill wasn't the best. Khaled Ahmed nudges it in front of short leg and Taskin Ahmed calls him for the single. Khaled seems to be struggling at the bowler's end as Axar Patel dislodges the bails and after checking the replays it is found that Khaled is just short. OUT is the decision on the big screen.

Right then, just the last three wickets to go and India will be hoping to get those in the next session and bundle their opponents. Bangladesh will hope to bat the entire session and take the play to the next day. Will the Indians continue to dominate with the ball? Bangladesh has struggled and they have struggled a lot with the bat throughout the game. They will need something special to claw their way up in the game. They were saved a couple of times and still are seven down. Litton Das has reached his half-century and he will be the one who will need to keep the scoreboard ticking for his team. Nonetheless, he would need good support from the tailenders and try not to lose any further wickets. They have a lead of 108 runs now and will hope to add more to it as any lead of around 200 could be very handy on this pitch.

A good display of bowling once again from the Indians as they took 3 wickets in this session. Umesh Yadav started off by getting the dangerous Zakir Hasan and Mehidy Hasan soon followed the suit. Axar then got rid of Nurul Hasan then. He was the pick of the bowlers in this session as he took 2 wickets and almost got rid of the dangerous Litton Das who was saved by the review. There was a phase in the middle when Nurul Hasan and Litton Das ran a havoc over the India bowlers and stitched a quickfire 46-run partnership in 48 deliveries but it slowed down a bit once Nurul Hasan was dismissed.

Right then, the pitch has started to show its true colours and the spinners are enjoying their day out which means that India's lead of 16 more runs will prove to be crucial. Bangladesh have just 6 more wickets to play with and need an inspiring performance from someone here because the Indian bowlers will come at them hard. Will India tighten their grip on this match and wrap it up on Day 3? Or will the hosts pull off something spectacular? India will be very content with that bowling display but will feel that they could have got a couple of more wickets. The surface has a lot in it for the spinners and it is all about being patient. Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Jaydev Unadkat all picked up a wicket each as they kept the hosts on their toes. This seemed to be enough going into the break but Axar Patel was introduced late in the session and he bowled a spell to Mushfiqur Rahim before eventually dismissing him. With just 6 more wickets to get and still leading by 16 runs, India will want to bundle out the opposition in the next session itself.

Bangladesh had a poor start to Day 3 as just in the second over of the day Najmul Hossain Shanto was dismissed and a few overs later, the star of the first innings, Mominul Haque also got out. Zakir Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan did look like stitching together a gritty stand but the skipper got out cheaply just like he did in the first innings. This had left the hosts reeling but with Zakir still out there alongside their most prolific Test batter Mushfiqur Rahim the hosts looked to steady the ship but it wasn't meant to be as Mushfiqur also got out late in the session, leaving the hosts in a spot of real bother.

A session that was filled with events and at the end of it, India will be the happier of the two sides as they have the hosts on the ropes at the moment. Bangladesh would want to better their batting effort in the next session and bat throughout but it won't be easy given what we have seen so far.
