Right then, that is it from this game where Hyderabad avenge their previous loss to Delhi and get their third win of the season. However, we have another doubleheader coming our way on 30th April, Sunday. The first match is a big one which will be played between Chennai and Punjab at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). After that, Mumbai will host Rajasthan at the Wankhede Stadium in a crucial encounter for both and that game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can join us early for the build-up of both games. Until then, cheers and goodbye!

Mitchell Marsh is the Player of the Match despite being on the losing team for his four wickets and a half-century to go with it. He says that it took him a few games to get going. Mentions that it is a disappointing loss but he had a nice partnership with Philip Salt but they could not get over the line. Adds that they played well together but the wicket slowed down a bit and they gave 20 runs too many. Claims that their plan was to keep going at the bowlers by putting the poor deliveries to the boundary and keeping the scoreboard ticking. Informs that they lost a few wickets and unfortunately they were unable to finish. Goes on to say that the positives have been that they have lost a couple of close games but says that this is why the Indian T20 League is the best in the world and they have been on the wrong side of a few results. Ends by saying that hopefully they will win a few games on the road and there is still belief in the group.

Aiden Markram, the victorious skipper of Hyderabad says that it was a great team effort. Adds that it was good to see the players show their skills and character. Tells that he does not mind the results if the approach is right. Mentions that Heinrich Klaasen has been in good form but the start from Abhishek Sharma was really important. Tells that they needed something special to get back in the game and that catch from Mayank Markande was the turning point. Credits the whole team and says that the bowlers exploited the conditions well. Ends by saying that this will give them a lot of confidence and they will try to build on it.

Presentation Time...

Heinrich Klaasen is up for a flash interview. He says that it was about time that he did something and is pleased about it. Mentions that it was a team effort and they batted as a unit so hopefully it is good signs to come. Claims that he would love to come up the order but says that the team needs him lower down the order and they have guys doing well so hopefully they can take this winning momentum forward. Adds that he has to be flexible and give his best for the team. Informs that the wicket had a little more turn and they encouraged their spinners to go fuller so that the ball could turn as when they bowled back of length it was just skidding on. When asked about Abhishek Sharma, he says that he needed a little bit of confidence to help him settle and he has been doing well in the nets.

David Warner, the captain of Delhi, says that losing by 9 runs on a pretty nice wicket was a little disappointing. Claims that they gave away too many runs while bowling but Mitchell Marsh was excellent. Mentions that when two guys get good starts they need to capitalize and one of them needs to get a big one. Adds that they lost too many wickets in the middle overs and there were no partnerships so it gets difficult. Admits that Axar Patel is in good form and they knew the spinners will be bowling into the left-handers so they were holding him back. Goes on to say that it can be difficult to make the decision at that moment but will consider sending him up the order in the future. Ends by saying that they need to keep it simple, execute their plans with the bat, and have some batter score 80-plus runs while not losing wickets in the middle overs. Informs that it is the senior players that need to take responsibility.

Earlier in the game, Hyderabad posted the highest total of this season at this venue courtesy of brilliant fifties from Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma and a quick cameo from Abdul Samad too. Mitchell Marsh was the start with the ball for Delhi with four wickets while Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma chipped in with one each. While chasing, Delhi lost their skipper, David Warner early but Mitchell Marsh and Philip Salt set up a nice platform for them. However, once again their middle order could not make any sort of contribution and in the end, Axar also tried his best but it was too little too late for them as they fell to defeat.

Hyderabad, on the other hand, will be delighted with their bowling effort and the fight and determination that was shown by their bowlers. They went for a few in the Powerplay even though Bhuvneshwar Kumar got rid of David Warner in the very first over. However, they controlled the game in the middle overs and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Mayank Markande was excellent as he picked up 2 wickets for just 20 runs in his four overs while everyone else chipped in except Umran Malik who bowled only one over. It was a good all-around effort from them and they finally get back to winning ways.

Delhi got off to the worst possible start as they lost David Warner for nothing. Mitchell Marsh came in after that with all the confidence in the world after his incredible spell of bowling and started smashing it all around the park along with Philip Salt who finally found his feet in this tournament. It looked like they would take the game away from Hyderabad. Both of them registered excellent fifties and added 112 runs together before Salt got dismissed. Marsh followed him soon as they suffered a collapse and went from 112-1 to 148-6 in no time which shifted the momentum completely. Axar Patel played a quick-fire knock of 29 off just 14 balls but it proved to be a bit too much for them as they fell short by 9 runs.

Hyderabad settle their score with Delhi! They fell short in the previous game against the same opposition but have come back really well to get the better of them this time around and that too quite comfortably in the end. Delhi need to go back to the drawing board once again while Hyderabad keeps their hopes alive in the tournament.

Commentary

We are back for the second essay as the umpires make their way out to the middle. The Hyderabad players take their respective fielding positions on the ground as David Warner and Philip Salt make their way out to open the innings. Hyderabad have used their Impact Player option as T Natarajan comes onto the field in place of Rahul Tripathi. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball and will begin proceedings. Let's go.

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, a massive total on a pitch that is bound to slow down as the game progresses. Hyderabad have some handy spinners in their line-up and they will be eager to take advantage of the conditions. Delhi looked to have control of the game in the first half of the inning but have conceded far too many runs and will be looking towards their batters to put on their best effort so far. As usual, it is David Warner who holds the key to this run chase and the hosts will be hoping he can get them off to a good start. Will Delhi pull off something remarkable? Or will Hyderabad defend this target with ease? We will find out shortly.

Abhishek Sharma says that the pitch was a bit slow and low. Adds that the plan was to put the loose deliveries away. Tells that he had a chat with Brian Lara who told him to take on the pacers in the Powerplay and whenever it was in his arc he did exactly that. Mentions that when he was batting he was looking around a total of 180-185 but they got more than that so he is happy with that. Ends by saying that he would love to bowl as he has worked hard in the nets and will give his best whenever the chance comes his way.

Abhishek Sharma got going from the first over itself as he looked to get his team on the front foot early but his opening partner Mayank Agarwal struggled to get going and was dismissed on a low score. Rahul Tripathi was shifty at the wicket and was dismissed as he looked to keep going at the bowlers. Aiden Markram tried to build the inning by playing the anchor role but only ended up consuming deliveries and gave away his wicket cheaply. Harry Brook was dismissed on a duck but they got the required impetus from Abdul Samad and Heinrich Klaasen with the latter reaching his half-century. Akeal Hosein played a handy cameo as they ended their inning just short of the 200-run mark.

We do not know what to make of this inning! Delhi kept chipping in with the wickets but were unable to put a cap on the scoring rate. Hyderabad have posted 197 runs on the board and will be sufficiently content with their effort as this is the highest score on this ground in this edition of the Indian T20 League. The Delhi bowlers were led by Mitchell Marsh who had an outstanding outing as he claimed 4 wickets for 27 runs with Axar Patel and Ishant Sharma chipping in with one each. They would have liked to have managed their bowlers better as Mukesh Kumar conceded 38 runs in 2 overs and Anrich Nortje also had an indifferent day in the office which leaves them with an uphill task to climb.

18.21wd

On a length and outside off, way outside off, Akeal Hosein fails to reach for it. It is called a wide. However, Delhi has taken the review to challenge the decision. The replay shows that it is still well wide of the batter even though he has moved. The on-field call remains and Delhi lose a review!

Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma are the two openers for Hyderabad. Ishant Sharma has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...

Harry Brook is up for a chat. He says that opening is a bit different for him and he has a different game plan. Adds that he has not been able to execute properly but the century gave him a lot of confidence. Tells that they need to be positive with the bat. Says that he is enjoying the challenge with the new ball and that too against the best bowlers. Ends by saying that Sundar is a big miss for them as he contributed with both bat and ball.

Impact Players for Delhi - Sarfaraz Khan, Lalit Yadav, Abishek Porel, Khaleel Ahmed, Pravin Dubey.

Delhi (Playing XI) - David Warner (C), Philip Salt (WK), Mitchell Marsh, Manish Pandey, Axar Patel, Priyam Garg (In for Aman Khan), Ripal Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar.

Impact Players for Hyderabad - Marco Jansen, Vivrant Sharma, Glenn Phillips, Mayank Dagar, T Natarajan.

Hyderabad (Playing XI) - Harry Brook, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram (C), Abhishek Sharma, Heinrich Klaasen (WK), Abdul Samad (In for Washington Sundar), Mayank Markande, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Akeal Hosein (In for Marco Jansen), Umran Malik.

David Warner, the captain of Delhi says that it is all about adjusting to conditions. Adds that they have been losing wickets in clumps and will need a good batting performance. Mentions that they will need to be better in the Powerplay with bat and ball. Says that playing home and away is challenging but it is enjoyable too. Informs Priyam Garg makes his debut in place of Aman Khan.

Aiden Markram, the skipper of Hyderabad says that they will bat first. Adds that the wicket looks drier and dew should not be a major factor. Tells that the time for experiment is over and they need to get some results now. Mentions that the players need to express themselves and enjoy more. Admits that they have not been that good with the bat and need to improve. Says that Sundar is a big loss for them but that gives an opportunity to someone else to step up. Informs that Akeal Hosein is making his debut and Abdul Samad also comes in.

TOSS - Hyderabad have won the toss and they have elected to BAT first.

The news from the Hyderabad camp is that Akeal Hosein has been given a cap and is all set to make his debut in this game.

Hyderabad is a side that seems to have a settled playing 11 but is yet to find their rhythm as they have been marred by the inconsistency that has threatened to derail their season. Initially, they were having issues with their opening partnership but altered their batting order and got success. In recent times it has been batters playing loose shots and giving away their wickets cheaply but they will know that their success depends heavily on their batters performing at the highest level. The pace bowling contingent is well equipped and they do not lack options but the injury to Washington Sundar will force them to alter their setup. Will they be able to exact revenge for their loss at home? Or will the hosts do a double over their struggling opponents? We will find out soon. Stay tuned for the toss and team updates.

Delhi seemed to lack direction when the tournament began in the absence of their regular skipper Rishabh Pant and David Warner tried his best to lead from the front but could not get the best out of his team. It took them five consecutive defeats and a slight tweak to their side to initiate their first win and are in a position to make it three wins in a row. Their batting is still unpredictable and while a few batters in the middle order have got off to decent starts in recent games, they will need more substantial contributions to make a difference. It is their bowling that has been instrumental in their victories so far and they will be hoping to continue the good work they have done so far. They will need contributions from all departments to maintain this winning momentum and get themselves off the bottom spot.

Hello, and a warm welcome, ladies and gentlemen to our coverage of match number 40 in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League as two teams nestled at the bottom of the table look for two crucial points to keep their title hopes alive. We are at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as Delhi host Hyderabad in a reverse fixture of their previous encounters. The hosts traveled to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium last time around and beat the side from Hyderabad to make it two wins in a row and condemned their opponents to their third consecutive defeat. The momentum is definitely with the home side as the crowd will be behind them for yet another win but there is every chance that Hyderabad could be a wounded tiger that will strike back and we expect this to be a fierce contest.

...  MATCH DAY ...

Has there been a better time in life to be a cricket fan? With the advent of T20 cricket, the excitement levels were certainly set to skyrocket but the introduction of T20 leagues around the world has taken entertainment to a whole new level. We are well into yet another weekend in the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League and we have a bunch of games coming our way as teams will be eager to end this action-packed month of April with positive results. The tournament has proved to be a cricketing carnival and as lovers of the game, it has been difficult not to be completely engrossed in the action. We focus our attention on match number 40 where we will witness a battle for survival as 10th-placed Delhi host 9th-place Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium with both teams having registered just two wins in the seven games they have played so far. Despite their positions on the table, the two teams will be entering this encounter in contrasting moods as Delhi have picked up two consecutive wins after losing their first five games while on the other hand, Hyderabad are on a three-match losing streak. The two teams faced each other in the reverse fixture in their previous encounters at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and Delhi won the close encounter by 7 runs. It was a game that saw two teams in poor batting form struggle and the side with a fractionally better display with the bat, came up trumps. Delhi have been heavily dependent on their skipper David Warner, who has 306 runs under his belt, to help them get decent scores on the board but have seen handy contributions from Manish Pandey and Axar Patel lower down the order. However, if they are to go on a winning run they need players like Prithvi Shaw, Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan, and Philip Salt to step up to the challenge and prove their worth to the side. Rilee Rossouw and Rovman Powell are great options for the hosts but have been used sparingly in recent times after not making the most of their opportunities in the initial phase of the competition. It is the bowlers that have triggered a change in fortunes with their winning run coinciding with the introduction of Ishant Sharma to the side who has been an absolute revelation. Anrich Nortje, Mukesh Kumar, and Mitchell Marsh share the fast-bowling responsibilities but their lack of wickets is a real worry as the leading wicket-takers are Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel with 7 and 6 wickets respectively. Hyderabad have decided to use their best two batters up the order with Harry Brook (163 runs) and Mayank Agarwal (164 runs) given the role of the openers. They have a sturdy middle order with Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, and Abhishek Sharma but they have lacked the consistency required for the side to be successful. Their main strength over the years has been their pace bowling unit and it is the same for them in this edition with the presence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, and Fazalhaq Farooqi. They suffered a massive blow as Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the competition with a hamstring injury and the spin bowling load will now fall on their leading wicket-taker Mayank Markande along with Adil Rashid and Akeal Hosein. A loss could prove to be devastating for either team's chances of making it to the playoffs and in that context, we have a humdinger of a game awaiting us. Which side will win this bottom-table encounter? We will find out soon.
