That concludes England's fruitful tour of the Netherlands where they stamped their authority. Back home, England's Test team is ready in Headingley to face New Zealand for the final match of the series. That begins on Thursday, 23rd June 2022, at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). Do join us in advance for the coverage. Cheers!

The English players come up to pose with the trophy. Laughter all around and Eoin Morgan has also joined his boys. Excellent series win for the defending champions and they have displayed to the world their insane batting resources.

Jos Buttler, the stand-in skipper of England, is also the Player of the Series. Says that he is very happy and they were wonderful with the ball and they finished things off nicely. Talks about his form and says that he is in a good space and is looking to continue this momentum. Tells that they have a great depth in their squad and they are looking forward to the future. Mentions that David Payne bowled well on his debut and Philip Salt was also quite good and applauds the fans, especially the Barmy Army, for their immense support.

Scott Edwards, the Dutch captain, says that from where they started the series, they have taken some good learnings. Wants to come hard in the next series. He is happy with his personal form and shares that the pitch was a bit harder than the last game. Adds that they lost wickets at the death and credits the English bowlers for restricting them.

Jason Roy picks the Player of the Match award for his sublime century! The English opener says that he is chuffed to finish on a high. Adds that they always wanted to stay to their standards throughout the innings, they stumbled a bit in the batting department in the last game but overall it has been good. Mentions that it is a perfect start for them to a big summer ahead of the big Test. Tells that the new players have stepped up and feels that they have a bright future ahead. Signs off by saying that fans have been unbelievable and they should make a habit of coming here.

Stay tuned for the presentation...

The chase started on the same note as everyone expected. Philip Salt and Jason Roy straight away went into the top gear and punished the Dutch bowlers mercilessly. It was a disastrous bowling plan from the Netherlands in Powerplay 1. They were stubborn to bowl short and the English openers feasted. Paul van Meekeren picked up two wickets in one over to peg England back a wee bit, but then Jos Buttler arrived to partner Jason Roy, and together the duo completed the demolition job with an unbeaten 163-run stand.

During Netherlands' batting innings, everyone wanted them to score above 300 to challenge the English batting. They did have the platform but in the last 10 overs, their innings crash-landed. Their three batters scored 50-plus but none stayed for long to make their knocks count. The English bowlers sized up the conditions quite well, didn't go for magic deliveries and stuck to disciplined lines to reap rewards. David Willey picked a four-fer and impressed both with the new ball and towards the death.

England cruised to another remarkable win to complete a whitewash, and by doing so, they have jumped to the top in the 2020-23 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League standings. Once again their ruthless batting was too hot to handle for the Dutch boys as they overhauled the target without breaking a sweat. 3-0 it is, as was expected at the start of this tour. Not sure how much the Netherlands will gain from these hammerings that they are getting quite consistently.

Commentary

Welcome back, folks! The Netherlands players are on the ground. Philip Salt and Jason Roy are the English openers, both in scintillating form. Fred Klaassen to begin proceedings with the first new ball. No slip in place, strangely. Here we go...

...THE RUN CHASE…

Right then, the target is not a big one for this strong English batting line-up. However, this is cricket and one can never rule out a possibility of a surprise. Can the Netherlands pull off something special to cap off a historic series at home? Let's find out as we will be back with England's reply in a short while. Stay tuned.

England would be pretty pleased with their bowling effort!. There was not much help for the bowlers but they came in with a definite plan and executed it quite well in the end. The plan from the seamers was to bowl short and that brought them rich dividends. David Willey provided the first breakthrough with a bouncer to Vikramjit Singh and then Carse with his extra pace continued to bowl short and trouble the batters. He got Cooper and Bas de Leede with his short-pitch stuff and spinners Livingstone and Rashid too did their job to perfection. However, it was the death-over bowling that was most impressive for England as Willey finished with four wickets and the debutant David Payne also got his maiden wicket as he got Edwards out in the end.

Earlier in the match, the Netherlands lost the wicket of Vikramjit Singh cheaply but Tom Cooper and Max O'Dowd steadied the ship nicely and scored at a brisk pace during their 72-run stand. Cooper got a life when he was on zero courtesy of Liam Livingstone losing the ball in the sun but he departed soon after a promising start. Max O'Dowd, on the other hand, continued to be steady but lost his wicket after getting to his fifty. There was a handy partnership in the middle overs between Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards but both of them could not kick on to get a big one. As mentioned earlier, the lack of firepower cost them dearly as the pressure of getting to 300 against a strong English batting unit got to them and they eventually crumbled in the death overs.

Yet another Dutch innings that just never took off! The lack of firepower in their batting line-up has cost them once again. They were found out in the last 10 overs when they needed to up the ante and overall they will be disappointed with this batting effort. They have ended with 244 on the board and though the score looks decent, it is way below-par on this batting strip and especially against the firepower of the English batting. The Netherlands need to pull off something special to defend this one while the English batters will be pretty confident of chasing down another total without much fuss.

OUT! BOWLED! Willey has four in the match. He hurls across a length ball, around middle and off at 129 kph, Paul van Meekeren clears his front leg for a big heave over the leg side but misses. The off stump is disturbed and the Netherlands are bundled out for 244.

49.11

Off pace delivery, a bit on the shorter side, Fred Klaassen pushes it through covers for a single. Can they get to 250?

OUT! CAUGHT! Big smile on the face of David Payne as he claims his maiden ODI wicket. Fuller in length, around off at 119 kph, Scott Edwards is early into the swing of his bat and gets it away off the inner half of his blade. The ball lobs up to mid on and Jason Roy takes the catch by shuffling back and across a bit to his right. Can the Netherlands play out all their balls now?

48.21

Fuller this time, wide outside off, Fred throws his bat at it and edges it down to third man for a single.

48.21wd

Wide! Sliding down the leg side, Fred Klaassen tries to glance but misses.

Bouncer around off, Scott tries to pull but misses. It pings him on the helmet and goes to third man. They cross for a leg bye. Surprisingly, there is no concussion test conducted.

OUT! RUN OUT! Pringle sacrifices himself for his skipper. Slower delivery, full and around middle, Tim Pringle pushes it gently to covers and there is no run available as it has gone straight to the fielder. Scott Edwards though wants to get back on strike and pushes his partner. Pringle initially signals to send his skipper back but then decides to cross. Meanwhile, Dawid Malan tosses the ball to the bowler who takes the bails off. Tim Pringle is not even in the frame.

46.41

Short and around middle, pulled to deep mid-wicket for a single.

46.32

Slower short ball around leg, Edwards tries to pull but is early into the shot. It takes his gloves, deflects off the arms and Buttler rushes across to collect it after dropping one of his gloves. The ball though spins and beats him. It also misses Buttler's glove on the ground by a whisker, otherwise, it would have been five penalty runs. Two added to the total.

46.31wd

Wide called for height! David Payne digs it in short and it goes over the head of the batter.

46.22

On a shortish length around middle, Edwards heaves it over mid-wicket, finds the gap and collects a couple of runs.

Drinks break. England have done what we expected them to do in the first phase of their chase. They are striking at almost 8 an over and despite two wickets in one over by Paul Van Meerkeren, England are bossing this game at the moment. For Netherlands, the only way to win this game is by taking wickets at regular intervals and if they don’t do that quickly, we might see an early finish. Can the Dutch pull things back?

However, he fails to get enough distance and power behind his shot and Liam Livingstone moves swiftly to his right to take a fine catch. Drinks break. It's been a decent batting show from the Dutch team thus far, especially after losing Vikramjit Singh cheaply. Tom Cooper survived an early scare when his mistimed shot was not caught by Liam Livingstone as he lost the ball in the sun. Since then, Cooper has played some sumptuous shots and along with Max O'Dowd, he has raised a handy stand. The hosts would like to maintain the same tempo in the middle overs where they will be fed a bit of spin. Let's see how they progress. Jos Buttler is staying with his seam-bowling plans. We are all set to begin! England players make their way out to the middle. Vikramjit Singh and Max O'Dowd are the openers for Netherlands. David Willey has a new ball in his hand. Vikramjit Singh to take the strike. Here we go...

Scott Edwards, the skipper of Netherlands, says that they were pretty much on track in the last game and adds that the two wickets, in the end, stopped them from getting that 260-run mark. Mentions that this fresh pitch will probably suit them and it will get slower. Informs that they have two changes in their playing XI and says that they are enjoying playing against England.

Jos Buttler, the stand-in skipper for England, says that they are bowling as the pitch is fresh and will stay the same throughout. Feels that if there is anything for the bowlers, it will be upfront. Informs that Eoin Morgan is missing as he has a groin injury.  Also adds that they have included Sam Curran and handed a debut to David Payne.

Netherlands (Playing XI) - Vikramjit Singh, Max O'Dowd, Tom Cooper, Bas de Leede, Scott Edwards (C) (WK), Teja Nidamanuru, Logan van Beek, Tim Pringle, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren (In place of Shane Snater), Fred Klaassen (In place of Vivian Kingma).

England (Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Philip Salt, Dawid Malan, Jos Buttler (C) (WK), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran (In place of Eoin Morgan), Adil Rashid, David Willey, Brydon Carse, David Payne (On debut) (In place of Reece Topley).

TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of Jos Buttler. ENGLAND ELECT TO BOWL!

England, on the other hand, have been clinical so far with both batting and bowling firing in unison. However, the form of their skipper, Eoin Morgan has been a concern and there is some further bad news coming out from Amstelveen for Morgan's fans as he has been ruled out of this final ODI with a groin injury. Jos Buttler will be leading the side in his absence. On the other side, Philip Salt has grabbed his opportunity with both hands and with the kind of depth and firepower England have in their ranks, they would be looking to wrap up this series with another big win. Can Netherlands outclass England in the final showdown? Or will England once again dominate the proceedings? Let’s find out. Toss and team sheets in a while.
