That is it! Australia clinch the series. The Kiwis will hope for a consolation prize as they meet again on the 25th of this month for the final T20I. Join us at 5.30 am IST (12 am GMT). Join us for the build up. Cheers!

Pat Cummins is the Man of the Match. Says a lot of batters mistimed it. Adds he loves to play not as a captain. Shares the wicket helped their bowlers a bit and they enjoyed bowling.

Australia got away with the bat. The pitch was made up for a score of around 200. However, few of their batters played cameos which made a huge difference. Travis Head, Pat Cummins, Tim David played a handy knock to get a decent total. With the ball, Australia were right on the money with the start! All of them ended with a wicket each but the star of the show was Adam Zampa who ended with four wickets.

A fantastic performance from the Aussies and they win the series! New Zealand would have taken this score at the start. Australia were decent with the bat and looked a bit short of runs so New Zealand headed into the chase with an upper hand. However, they were dealt with Conway's injury. The other batters though didn't start well. Mitchell Santner promoted himself at number 3 but he struggled too. New Zealand kept on losing wickets. Glenn Phillips was their last hope but he too fell in the end. Not the performance you would hope from the home team.

No more participation from the injured player and there's absent hurt written against the name of Devon Conway.

Back for the chase. Still no Conway as Finn Allen is joined by Will Young on top. Josh Hazlewood to bowl now.

...THE CHASE...

Australia will be disappointed. They were all set to cross the 200-run mark after the first 10 but the middle order failed to contribute a lot. The kept losing wickets and had it not been for Cummins, 170 too would not have been breached. Still though, they have a competitive score on a surface which is holding a touch. They will need to keep picking wickets or we believe the Kiwis will gun this down. Chase in a bit. Stay tuned.

A brilliant recovery from the Kiwis and they will surely head into the break with their noses in front. This was an innings of two halves. The first 10 was dominated by the Aussies. The Australian top order got them off to an absolute flyer. They had their 100 up around the 8th over and looked all set for a total over 200. However, the Kiwi bowlers came back strongly in the second half. The likes of Ferguson, Ben Sears and Mitchell Santner were excellent and they pulled things back by picking wickets. Milne too came back strongly towards the end, Boult however, was taken to the cleaners. Still though, the Kiwis will feel they have done an extremely good job overall.

19.5W

OUT! TAKEN! Lockie Ferguson has four. Top, top spell from him and Australia have been bowled out for 174! This is full and outside off, Josh Hazlewood carves it towards deep point. Josh Clarkson takes an easy catch.

19.4W

OUT! TAKEN! Lockie Ferguson has three. He has been brilliant. Fuller and on off, a slower one. Adam Zampa mistimes it towards mid off where it is taken easily.

...THE CHASE...

DRINKS! An interesting phase is what follows. That wicket of Marsh has got the Kiwis back into the game. Ben Sears, let me remind you, he went for 11 from the first three balls he has bowled but since then, has just conceded just the one run and taken two wickets in the next 8 deliveries. TOSS - New Zealand have won the toss and elected to field!

The first game was an absolute thriller and it was the Aussies who chased down a massive target, on the very last ball to take a 1-0 lead in this series. Now, it is time for the second T20I and the action shifts to Auckland. Yet another ground in which we expect a lot of runs to be scored. Can the Kiwis fight back and level the series or will Australia make it 2-0? We will find out.

... MATCH DAY ...

It is now time for the 2nd T20I between New Zealand and Australia at Eden Park in Auckland. The first T20I between these two Trans-Tasmanian rivals proved to be a game for the ages as the visitors needing 4 runs off the final ball got a boundary and broke the hearts of the home crowd. It was a run-fest in which both sides played their part magnificently but the Kiwis will now have to step up if they are to level the series. The top order for New Zealand did most of the damage as the duo of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra both scored quickfire 60s and the middle order made sure they got over 200 runs. It was skipper Mitchell Marsh who led the fightback for the Aussies alongside David Warner but eventually it was some sensational ball striking from Tim David right at the death that won them the game. Bowlers from both sides were taken to the cleaners but there were a couple of them who bowled really well. Unfortunately for veteran Tim Southee though, it was an evening to forget and he couldn't defend 18 runs in the final over either. There's still a couple of matches to go as both sides look to tweak things with that T20 World Cup in mind which is about three months away now. Can New Zealand keep their nerves intact this time and level the series? Or will Australia clinch the series with a game in hand? We shall find out.
