Aiden Markram, the skipper of South Africa is in for a chat. He says that they would've bowled first as well but they will try to put a sufficent total on the board. Mentions it is about encouraging guys about expressing themselves in the shortest format. Adds that it is a fresh start from them.

Rovman Powell, the captain of West Indies says that they will bowl first as it’s the trend on the venue. Adds they will have to do the right things and play good cricket. Mentions that he will have to lead from the front and the team will follow. Says that they are going with a balanced side.

Update 7.06 pm IST (1.36 pm GMT) - Right then, the update from the officials is that the toss will be taking place at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT) and the game should be started by 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Although, it has been reduced down to a 11-overs match for each side. Should be a cracker.

Update 6.47 pm IST (1.17 pm GMT) - Alright then, the rain has stopped, which is a positive sign, but still uncertain about the start time. The umpires will be coming out on the field at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT) for an inspection. No covers are seen in the middle now, although the super soppers are doing their job to make playing conditions better. Hopefully, the rain gods stay away.

Update 6.24 pm IST (12.54 pm GMT) - The sun is trying hard to make its way through the dark clouds. Things are brightening up a touch, which is a really good sign. The covers though still remains intact over the pitch, but some covers are being taken off around it. Let's hope we get to see some action soon.

Update 5.30 pm IST (12.00 pm GMT) - Folks, the game was supposed to get underway right now but it’s still raining and there is no real update regarding the TOSS. The wait continues.

Update 5.03 pm IST (11.33 am GMT) - Well, not a promising sign! The covers are coming on the field now, as the rain has started to just as we were getting ready for the toss. So, inevitably the TOSS HAS BEEN DELAYED. Let's hope this is just a passing shower.

West Indies, who are known for their lethal approach in the shortest format, find themselves in a transition phase, and have decided to hand the captaincy to Rovam Powell, he has captained once before in a T20I match. To be honest, there is no shortage of power-hitters in this batting rank and if they explode, it will be a challenge to stop them. Two strong teams colliding, only makes this match more enticing. It will be Aiden Markram who will lead this Proteas side. South Africa are a solid unit with experience across all departments. Following a closely fought ODI series in which both teams shared the trophy, it is now time for action in the game's shortest format. South Africa and West Indies will now face off in a three-match T20I series. The first two T20Is of the series will be played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion before the caravan shifts to the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg for the third and final T20I of the series. The change in format has brought about a change in leadership for the hosts, with Aiden Markram taking over from Temba Bavuma for the T20I series. Aiden Markram, along with Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, and Rilee Rossouw, will be crucial to the chances of the hosts with the bat. South Africa have a lethal pace attack with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Lungi Ngidi in their ranks. The spin duo of Bjorn Fortuin and Tabraiz Shamsi did a decent job in the ODI series and will be expected to do even better in the T20I series. West Indies, on the other hand, will play the T20I series under the leadership of Rovman Powell. In the batting department, the onus will be on Johnson Charles, Kyle Mayers, and Nicholas Pooran in this series. The seam bowling duties for the visitors will rest on the shoulders of Alzarri Joseph, Sheldon Cottrell, and Jason Holder. In the spin department, Akeal Hosein and Yannic Cariah will hold the key for West Indies. In the previous five T20I meetings between the two sides, South Africa have come out on top on four occasions, and as a result, they hold the upper hand heading into this series.
