Commentary
Afghanistan began well with the ball but in the middle overs, the likes of Naib and the two wrist spinners weren't up to the mark. They leaked runs and allowed all the early pressure to be released. The visitors did not finish well too as they gave a lot of runs towards the end. Still though, they managed to score a lot more than what they are chasing today in the first game but it will be interesting to see how the wicket plays. Lanka on the other hand, will back themselves to defend this. Join us for the chase in a bit.
A really good recovery from Lanka and they will be very pleased with where they are in the game. They lost their openers early but Sadeera and Mendis steadied the ship. They both laid the platform with an excellent stand but the two fell in quick successions. It was then the Asalanka show. He got good support from Janith Liyanage first and then Hasaranga. He finished three short of a ton but his innings has taken Lanka to a superb total.

Commentary
That's it from this game then. The series is done and dusted but there is still a game to go. Afghanistan will look to avoid the whitewash whereas, Sri Lanka will look to make it 3-0. Hashmatullah Shahidi says losing is not good and he is not happy. Adds the middle order did not do well and fielding was also poor and that is what dost them. Ends by saying the bowling and the fielding needs to improve and they need to be a lot more disciplined.
Charith Asalanka, MAN OF THE MATCH, says he is happy with how he played. Adds he was looking at 270 but Janith Liyanage batted really well and made 300 possible. Mentions he tried for the ton but couldn't get there.

For Lanka, barring the initial few overs, they were really good. Fernando was excellent and so was Hasaranga. Theekshana was also decent and Madhushanka came back strongly towards the end. It was a combined bowling effort by the hosts to seal the series.
A convincing win and Lanka have sealed the series with a game to go. Another Afghanistan collapse in this tour. It happened in the Test and now here. They were going along well when Shah and Zadran were batting, once that stand was broken, it all fell apart. They slipped from 143 for 2 to 155 all out. The middle order just did not step up and in the end, the margin of defeat is a massive one.

Commentary
Afghanistan began well with the ball but in the middle overs, the likes of Naib and the two wrist spinners weren't up to the mark. They leaked runs and allowed all the early pressure to be released. The visitors did not finish well too as they gave a lot of runs towards the end. Still though, they managed to score a lot more than what they are chasing today in the first game but it will be interesting to see how the wicket plays. Lanka on the other hand, will back themselves to defend this. Join us for the chase in a bit.
A really good recovery from Lanka and they will be very pleased with where they are in the game. They lost their openers early but Sadeera and Mendis steadied the ship. They both laid the platform with an excellent stand but the two fell in quick successions. It was then the Asalanka show. He got good support from Janith Liyanage first and then Hasaranga. He finished three short of a ton but his innings has taken Lanka to a superb total.

A Pathum Nissanka double ton lightened up Pallekele and gave Sri Lanka a 1-0 lead in the series. Afghanistan however, can be proud of the fight they showed. All thanks to Azmatullah Omarzai and Nabi, the defeat wasn't an embarrassing one. Those knocks though will have given them confidence heading into this game which is a must-win for them. It is time for the second ODI of the Afghanistan tour of Sri Lanka. The first ODI was a cracking one and it was Pathum Nissanka who delivered an exceptional performance. His unbeaten score of 210 runs from 139 balls was a standout achievement in the match. Nissanka received valuable support from Avishka Fernando, who contributed 88 runs from 88 balls. Additionally, Sadeera Samarawickrama added 45 runs from 36 balls to bolster the team's total. The Sri Lankan team concluded their innings with an imposing score of 381/3. Pramod Madushan was the pick of the bowlers, as his 4/75 in 10 overs ran through the top order before he was taken to the cleaners later on. A couple of wickets for Dushmantha Chameera, who walked off the field injured. Hasaranga and Theekshana went wicketless but they kept things relatively tight out there. For Afghanistan, chasing a target of 382 runs was always going to be a tough task. Initially, their top-order batsmen didn't perform well and the team was struggling at 55/5 with Gulbadin Naib scoring only 16 runs. However, Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi turned the game around with an impressive partnership of 242 runs for the sixth wicket. Nabi scored 136 runs off 130 balls, while Omarzai remained unbeaten with 149 runs off 115 balls. Ikram also contributed significantly, but unfortunately, they fell short of 42 runs. They will look to bounce back now and win the second one. Can they do it? We shall find out together.

Hashmatullah Shahidi says losing is not good and he is not happy. Adds the middle order did not do well and fielding was also poor and that is what dost them. Ends by saying the bowling and the fielding needs to improve and they need to be a lot more disciplined.
Charith Asalanka, MAN OF THE MATCH, says he is happy with how he played. Adds he was looking at 270 but Janith Liyanage batted really well and made 300 possible. Mentions he tried for the ton but couldn't get there.

For Lanka, barring the initial few overs, they were really good. Fernando was excellent and so was Hasaranga. Theekshana was also decent and Madhushanka came back strongly towards the end. It was a combined bowling effort by the hosts to seal the series.
A convincing win and Lanka have sealed the series with a game to go. Another Afghanistan collapse in this tour. It happened in the Test and now here. They were going along well when Shah and Zadran were batting, once that stand was broken, it all fell apart. They slipped from 143 for 2 to 155 all out. The middle order just did not step up and in the end, the margin of defeat is a massive one.
