Having suffered defeats in their first two games, Hyderabad head into this game in search of their first win of the season. In their last outing against Lucknow, their batters had an off day, and as a result, they ended up with only 121 runs on the board. In the second half, their bowlers did put up a fight, but it was not enough against the strong Lucknow batting unit. In the two games played, Hyderabad have been let down by their batters, and hence, the onus will be on Aiden Markram, Rahul Tripathi, and Harry Brook to step up. With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Adil Rashid have done a decent job but will need to perform even better if Hyderabad are to secure their first points of the season. On the contrary, Punjab are off to a perfect start, securing two wins from as many games. In their previous encounter against Rajasthan, knocks by Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan powered them to 197. While defending, the game went down to the wire, but the Punjab bowlers held their nerves and got their side past the finishing line.
