Battle for the playoffs continues - In a top-of-the-table clash, Gujarat Titans have managed to come out on top against Sunrisers Hyderabad, further galvanizing the points table. One more win should secure a playoff berth for GT, whereas SRH will need to win at least one of their remaining two games to have a proper shot at a top-four finish. Next up, another team that is very high up in the table, i.e, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, take on an in-form Kolkata Knight Riders in Raipur. That game will be played on Wednesday, 13 May, and will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). However, you can tune in a lot sooner and catch our build-up. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!

POTM - For his figures of 4-0-28-3, Kagiso Rabada has been given the award. Rabada starts by talking about the missed catch and says that he didn't react fast, and it was a crucial wicket of Ishan Kishan, but luckily, they got the wicket soon after. He says all season, you try to do your best and it's good to be backed. Goes on to say that rhythm is everything and you need it for some things to click. On their bowling, he says that they each have their own natural attributes and then it's all about looking at which one works best on that given deck, and if it doesn't, then try something different. Mentions that SRH gave them the blueprint of how to bowl on this pitch and they just tried to better it.

The captain of the Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill says the team bowled really well and felt 169 was always going to be a tricky chase on this surface. He adds that the discussion during the batting effort was about getting close to the 170-run mark because, with the bowling attack they possess, they always believed they could defend it. Gill praises Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar for the way they batted to help GT get close to 170, before crediting Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada for setting the tone with the ball in the powerplay. Shubman says the team’s focus is all about being consistent and ruthless, while also pointing out that Gujarat are not a side obsessed with playing one particular brand of cricket. Believes their strength lies in adapting according to the conditions in front of them. Gill also has special praise for Jason Holder, calling him an experienced campaigner who understands exactly the kind of lengths required on surfaces like these. Adds that it is never easy for a fast bowler to bowl four overs on the trot in such conditions and still consistently deliver for the team.

The Presentation ceremony...

Let's quickly recap the first innings - After winning the toss, Pat Cummins had no hesitation in bowling first. His bowlers didn't disappoint as GT were reduced to 26/2 inside the Powerplay. The likes of Praful Hinge and Cummins himself did really well but when GT were 64/3, in came Washington Sundar and things started to change. Sai Sudharsan added 60 runs with Sundar and both of them went on to score individual fifties. SRH finished things off decently as Sakib Hussain picked up a couple of wickets but GT managed to get to a total of 168.

A quick word from Washington Sundar - Sundar starts by talking about his knock and says that the wicket was a bit different from the other games played over here, and he tried to understand what kind of shots to play. On his six against Eshan Malinga, he says that he was looking to hit the yorker away and is happy to get that shot right. He adds that his plan was not to think much and stayed focused on the wicket and had a chat with Sai that one of them had to stay on till the end. Mentions that till the 17th-18th over, he didn't go all out and went on the offensive in the final couple of overs. On facing Rabada and Siraj in the nets, he says that you have got to be disciplined and watch the ball closely and hope to put away the few bad balls that you get. He says that this win speaks volumes about their setup, and they have managed to assess conditions and play accordingly this season.

The skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad - Pat Cummins says GT bowled really well and shares that SRH were pretty happy at the innings break. He mentions that it was a tricky wicket and credits Gujarat for making the most of the conditions with the ball. Cummins feels that, as a batting unit, they perhaps could have looked at different ways to get through that first spell, but admits that it was as good a T20 bowling performance as you can see from the Gujarat Titans. Pat says that the batting unit has done well throughout the tournament, and the side is not going to read too much into this defeat. Believes that these kinds of games can happen in a long tournament. The SRH skipper tells that they now head to a couple of venues they know well, which gives the side confidence going into the final phase of the league stage. Adds that winning 6 of their last 8 games has given the team some breathing room in the playoff race, and the focus now will be on going back to what worked during that successful run and putting this defeat behind them quickly.

Boom or bust for SRH with the bat - The lowest total ever for SRH in IPL as they get bundled out for 86 runs, and for a team that has as many as three batters scoring in excess of 400 runs each, this will be a shock for the team and the fans. Travis Head's turbulent season continued as he was dismissed for a duck after looking to be back to his best in the last few games. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan tried to attack and fell, as Heinrich Klaasen once again had to shoulder all responsibility and try and get his team out of a fix. He did well for a while but was dismissed soon after as the middle order had no answers to the bowling either. Pat Cummins struck a couple of lusty blows at the end, but that was only enough to bring down the margin of defeat to 82 runs.

Pacers lead the rout - A top-class bowling effort from start to finish from GT, but it was brilliantly set up by Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, who have been the pillars of their recent success. Siraj dismissed a dangerous Travis Head in the first over, ending up with a wicket-maiden, but the way KG followed it up from the other end was something special. Kagiso Rabada bowled four overs on the trot and picked up 3 wickets in a jiffy. Jason Holder, who came in as first change, didn't allow the batters any room to breathe either as he too picked up 3 wickets, including the prized wicket of Heinrich Klaasen. Prasidh Krishna got a couple of scalps on his return from injury as Rashid Khan finished things up, in what is a resounding win for the Titans.

The Titans make it a high-five - Gujarat Titans pick up their fifth straight win on the trot and zoom to the top of the points table with this demolition of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Titans also take a huge step towards playoff qualification and extend their positive head-to-head against the Sunrisers to 6-1.

14.5W

OUT! STUMPED! Rashid Khan completes the clean-up job. A resounding win for the Gujarat Titans by a margin of 82 runs. Dragged down by Rashid and it is another googly, on middle and leg. A premeditated charge by Praful Hinge but he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. The ball lands and spins back to go past the inside edge. Jos Buttler moves to his left, gathers the ball cleanly and whips the bails off with Hinge at a point of no return.

14.40

Out comes the wrong'un and the length is pulled back. Turning into the right-hander, Praful makes room and looks to swing it away on the leg side but misses and gets hit on the pads.

14.31lb

A mix-up but no harm done! Full and landing outside the line of the leg stump. Malinga attempts the sweep but the ball is too full for the shot. It goes off the pads towards short fine leg. Hinge gets across but Eshan is late to set off for the run. There is a shy at the bowling end, but it does not hit the stumps, and Eshan gets home.

14.21

Attacks the stumps with a googly, on a good length. Praful backs away and hits it down to long on for a single.

14.12

Low full toss first up by Rashid, around off. Praful Hinge dances down the track and swings at it. Slices it off the outer half over extra cover for a couple of runs.

Rashid Khan to have a bowl for the first time in this game.

From around the wicket, pitched up, just outside the off stump. Malinga swings hard to force it through the off side but is beaten.

Eshan Malinga is the last man in for SRH.

13.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Pat Cummins falls now. Seam-up ball, on a back of a length, on the off stump. This is bowled at 144.3 kph, Cummins continues to stay leg side of the ball and has a heave across the line. It is sliced off the outer half down to deep third, where Mohammed Siraj is placed a bit fine. He comes in off the ropes and could have taken another step forward but he hangs back and takes the catch around his shin.

13.30

Krishna hits the hard length, outside off. Pat hangs back and swings with all his might but is beaten on the outside edge.

13.26

SIX! All the way! A bit fuller than the previous ball, off and middle. Cummins gets the front leg out of the way and has a hoick across the line. Hits it right between deep square leg and deep mid-wicket and gets enough bat to clear the ropes.

13.14

FOUR! Nicely adjusted! Krishna slips in a good-length ball, tucking the batter up for room. Cummins swivels a bit and clears the front leg. He brings his bat out in front and whips it over mid-wicket to pick up a boundary.

STRATEGIC BREAK! The game is all but gone for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but there's still a lot to play for here. SRH will be hoping that they can bring down the margin of the imminent loss, but they only have 2 wickets in hand and a lot will depend on Pat Cummins if they are to at least cross the 100-run mark. Gujarat Titans have simply been brilliant with the ball, relentless with their execution and they will be eager to wrap things up at the earliest.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Another one bites the dust. Shivang Kumar is early to shuffle across the off stump, and Jason Holder smartly takes pace off, bowling it full and around off. Kumar tries to lap it away but the ball dips and takes the handle of the bat, lobbing up wide to the left of the keeper. Jos Buttler scampers across and puts in the dive to take another fine catch as Holder picks up his third wicket.

Commentary

Welcome back for Hyderabad's batting reply. Shubman Gill leads his troops out onto the park. Travis Head has been introduced as SRH's Impact Sub with Shivang Kumar being the one to make way. He walks out to open with Abhishek Sharma. Prasidh Krishna is GT's Impact Sub, replacing Rahul Tewatia. Mohammed Siraj will open the attack for the home side. Head to face the first ball. A slip in place. Here we go...

...  THE RUN CHASE ...

Looking ahead - SRH never really allowed GT to hit top gear in their innings, with Pat Cummins rotating his pacers smartly throughout. One thing that became quite evident was that whenever the bowlers dug it too short into the surface, they were punished. That could well serve as a blueprint for the GT quicks as well, with bowling a slightly fuller length likely to be more effective on this pitch. The Sunrisers would certainly have taken this total at the start of the game and will back themselves to chase it down. With the surface not the easiest for stroke-making, this promises to be an interesting second innings. Stay tuned.

A quick word - Sai Sudharsan slips on the Orange Cap. He starts off by saying that the surface was soft and there was a bit of moisture as well. He adds they lost early wickets and for that reason, he decided to bat deep. On the score they have put, Sai thinks 10 more runs would have given them a cushion, but hopes the bowlers will do the job. He further adds that 175-180 would've been a great score, but this total is par. Sudharsan reckons hitting the good length will be crucial on this surface. He is confident that the bowling unit will defend the total.

The push towards 170 - Sai eventually fell just as Gujarat were looking to push in the back end. It needed someone already set at the crease to take charge because it was not going to be easy for a new batter like Jason Holder to walk in and start going bang-bang straight away on this surface. It was Washington Sundar who came through with a valuable hand for the home side and helped GT gather crucial runs in the final few overs.

SRH landed the first punch - After losing the toss, it was the first time the Titans batted first in Ahmedabad this season. The slowness of the surface was evident in the first couple of overs itself, with the ball stopping a bit on the batters. To SRH's credit, they were disciplined right through that phase with the ball, and Praful Hinge was rewarded with a couple of big wickets. Sai Sudharsan did not get much of the strike during the powerplay, but he held the innings together for GT through the middle phase by stitching together a couple of important partnerships.

GT finish with 168 - 160-170 would be a decent total, that’s what GT's assistant coach, Ashish Kapoor, had said during the mid-innings chat, and his side has managed to get right around that mark. It was tough going for the most part on a sluggish surface, but that late burst of 35 runs in the final three overs has helped Gujarat push close to 170.

FOUR! Gets it away, does Rahul Tewatia and Gujarat Titans finish with 168/5 on the board. This is bowled short and at the batter. Tewatia manages to get inside the line and he helps the pull well wide of fine leg, to the right of the fielder down there and picks up a boundary to end the first innings.

Rahul Tewatia walks out to face the last ball.

19.5W

OUT! CAUGHT! A deceptive slower ball and this is turning out to be a fine final over from Sakib Hussain. Bowled just back of a length and outside off. It is the off cutter that grips and Washington Sundar is way too early into the attempted pull. Sundar can't even swing fully across the line and ends up getting a top edge towards the square leg region. The keeper, Ishan Kishan, jogs after it but soon realises that he has a lot of ground to cover and puts on the afterburners, diving forward and taking a brilliant catch.

19.41

Hard length over middle, angling in, hit away across through mid-wicket for just one more.

19.31

FIFTY up for Washington Sundar, could end up being the differentiator between the two sides, this inning. Slower ball, into the pitch and right at the batter. Sundar is a bit taken aback as he leans to the off side and fends it away wide of the short fine leg fielder for a single.

19.21

Low full toss on off, Holder pushes it away towards cover and pinches a single.

19.21wd

WIDE! Slower ball, on a length and wide outside off. Holder looks to drag it leg side but misses and a wide is given. SRH have reviewed it, though. The third umpire is called into action. Replays show that the ball is comfortably outside the revised guideline and it stays a wide.

19.12

Pitched very full and just outside off, Holder ends up slicing it away over the cover region and picks up a couple of runs.

Time for the final over. 12 runs shy of 170. Can GT get there? Well, this should help. SRH have been penalised for maintaining a slow over rate. They will be allowed only 4 fielders outside the inner circle. Sakib Hussain has been handed the ball.

SIX! How's he managed to do that? Incredible from Washington Sundar. Full and quick, attacking leg stump. Sundar looks for the flick again, but the ball dips and Sundar ends up falling, but he manages to still power it across and over deep square leg for a six. 18 off the over, a big one in terms of this innings.

18.54

FOUR! Washington Sundar brings up GT's 150 in style. Attempted yorker, slanted across off and middle, Sundar lunges across towards the off side, reaches out in front and laps the ball over the leapig fielder at short fine leg for a boundary.

18.41

Full and straight, a hint of reverse on this occasion. Holder hangs deep in the crease and drills it down to long off for a run.

18.41wd

WIDE! Too high. Slower bumper, dug in well short and outside off. Holder lets it go.

18.31

Much better from Malinga. In the blockhole, on middle and leg, jammed down to deep mid-wicket for one.

18.24

FOUR! The shorter deliveries aren't quite doing the trick for the bowlers on this deck. Dropped well short over off, Sundar hangs back and climbs into the pull, nailing it in front of square on the leg side for a boundary.

18.11

Dropped! Can we even call it that? A full toss around off, Jason Holder smacks it flat and straight back. Eshan Malinga sticks out his right hand on the follow-through, and the ball bursts through for a single.

Eshan Malinga (3-0-28-0) will bowl the 19th over.

Dug in a bit shorter and into the batter, Shivang Kumar leans back and short-arm jabs it without any timing to mid on.

SRH slide further. Shivang Kumar is the new man in.

10.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Jason Holder has done it again, a second wicket in the over and the Sunrisers are in serious danger of not even crossing the three-figure mark. Holder bowls it back of a length and a tad wide outside off. Nitish Kumar Reddy rocks back and punches it fiercely but slightly in the air and straight to point. Washington Sundar takes a sharp catch and the Titans are in a commanding position now.

10.41wd

WIDE! Length again, on the pads and slanting down leg. Jason Holder appeals a bit for a caught behind, but there's nothing much from Jos Buttler behind the stumps. Actually, Shubman Gill has taken the review for a wide, which is given on-field. Nitish Kumar Reddy seems fairly confident that he hasn't nicked it, but the third umpire has a look. Nothing on UltraEdge and slanting well enough down the leg side that the wide call stays.

10.32

Neatly tucked away. Good length, angling into middle and leg, Nitish Kumar Reddy clips it away wide to the right of mid on and picks up a couple of runs.

10.21

Back of a length and outside off, guided away down to deep third for a single.

SRH's skipper, Pat Cummins makes his way out to bat. Shubman Gill has positioned himself at a wide slip.

10.1W

OUT! CAUGHT! This could be game, set and match for the Titans. Jason Holder bowls it on a hard length and around off. Holder extracts extra bounce due to his height as well. Heinrich Klaasen hangs back to pull, but it isn't short enough, and the ball skids through, taking the top edge. The ball sails towards short fine leg, but Jos Buttler, the keeper, calls for it. The short fine leg fielder backs away, and Buttler manages to scamper towards the ball and take a brilliant catch. SRH are now 6 down with 113 still needed for the win.

The next batter in is Nitish Kumar Reddy.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Back in the side and back in the wickets is Prasidh Krishna. A wobble seam ball at 140.9 kph, bowled on a good length, in that channel on off. A tentative prod by Salil whilst staying leg side of the ball and his feet go nowhere. He pays the ultimate price as the ball catches the outside edge and the keeper, Jos Buttler gobbles it up to his right. SRH are 5 down for 56, needing 113 runs off 62 balls.

9.30

Hits the deck hard, on a shortish length, on off. Salil dabs it to backward point.

9.21

Oh, so nearly went to hand! A bit more effort behind this ball by Prasidh Krishna. On a good length, honing in on the off stump. Klaasen looks to play it through the off side off the front foot but the ball kicks up to catch the splice of the bat. Luckily for Klaasen, the ball drops in front of Sundar at backward point. The batters cross for one.

9.11

Starts with a length ball, attacking the front pad. Salil Arora hangs deep in the crease, brings his bat out in front and pushes it to long on for one.

STRATEGIC BREAK! At the mid-innings interval, Sai Sudharsan hesitated a bit when asked if 168 was a par score, but with how GT have bowled, it seems very much defendable. Mohammed Siraj got the ball rolling with that wicket-maiden first over, but after that, Kagiso Rabada was just relentless. He bowled 4 overs on the trot and picked up three wickets. SRH have Heinrich Klaasen at the crease and he's been outstanding this season, but he needs Salil Arora to stick around with him and get his side back in the game. A tough ask right now for the batting side as the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Arshad Khan and Rashid Khan are yet to bowl. Right on cue, Prasidh Krishna is introduced in the attack.

7.50

Around off, on the shorter side, that is punched off the back foot but straight to the cover fielder.

7.40

A lucky escape for Salil Arora. On a hard length, on middle. Arora hangs deep in the crease and tries to defend it late, close to his body. The ball deflects off an inside edge onto the front boot. Arora initially sets off for a run before turning around in panic, only to helplessly watch the ball roll onto the sticks but the ball does not have enough momentum to dislodge either of the two bails.

7.31

Not in control but safe! Rabada digs it in short, on off. Heinrich Klaasen rises with the bounce and swivels for the pull. He is through his shot early and the ball catches the top edge before sailing over the keeper. The man at deep third is placed fine and he mops it up. Single taken.

He bends to flick the ball away from the fence but fails to do so and the ball goes into the ropes.

6.50

Well bowled! Drags the length back and keeps it on top of off, Arora tries to tap it away but the ball comes back in to catch the inside edge and deflect onto the pads.

6.44

FOUR! Too straight and put away! Fuller in length, sliding onto the pads. Salil Arora plays the pick-up shot off the pads and it goes aerially behind square leg. Two fielders converge, one from deep fine leg and the other from deep square leg and the ball splits both of them to go into the fence.

14.14

FOUR! Oh, that's a shot and a half. Cummins serves it on a good length and outside off, Washington Sundar stays still and just extends his arms, lifting it inside-out over extra cover for a boundary.

STRATEGIC BREAK! Gujarat Titans are just starting to build a bit of momentum here, and Pat Cummins will be eager to break this stand quickly, much like SRH did earlier when the partnership between Nishant Sindhu and Sai Sudharsan was beginning to settle in. The slow nature of the surface has been quite evident throughout, and it won't be easy for a new batter to walk in and start striking big straight away. That is why this set pair at the crease becomes even more important from GT's perspective heading into the death overs. Sensing the need to break this stand, Cummins brings himself on.

However, since the Powerplay, the Titans have scored 22 runs in the next 2 overs and are looking to even things up. First Gill, now Buttler, two big wickets for Praful Hinge. Tailing back in sharply, on a length, going down leg from middle. Buttler walks across and hangs low but fails to lay any bat on the scoop. Ishan Kishan moves to his left and snaffles it. He goes up in an appeal, as does Praful Hinge. Gujarat Titans (Playing XI) - Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Jason Holder, Washington Sundar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Nishant Sindhu, Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj.

The captain of the Gujarat Titans - Shubman Gill says they would have bowled first as well. He feels the wicket looks much better compared to the last couple of games played here. Gill adds that for GT, it is all about staying consistent with their thought process and execution, especially at this stage of the tournament, where every team needs to bring their A-game. Shubman also confirms that they are going in with an unchanged side tonight.

The skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad - Pat Cummins says that they will bowl first because they haven't played here and would like to bowl first and chase it down later. Mentions that no one can really read pitches, as there have been a few low totals as well. Adds that they don't feel that this is a knockout game as they still have three games in total left. On GT's superior record against SRH, Cummins says that it's perfect because all the pressure is now on them to not lose and ends by informing that they have no changes in the side.

TOSS - We are all set for the flip of the coin. Both captains exchange ribbons to reinforce the message of the fight against cancer. Pat Cummins calls it correctly. Sunrisers Hyderabad opt to BOWL first.

Let's hear from SRH's leading wicket taker - Eshan Malinga has joined in for a chat as well. Mentions that he had a tough couple of months after suffering a dislocated shoulder, but he is feeling much better now and is focused on getting back to his best by sticking to the basics. Speaking about his bowling, Malinga says that he hasn’t made any major changes to his action or approach, but has been working on generating reverse swing lately. On the challenge of taking on the Gujarat Titans’ batting line-up, he says he plans to stick to his strengths and assess how the batters shape up during the game. When asked whether having a bowling captain helps, Malinga smiles and says it helps very much.

PITCH REPORT - Former England skipper, Eoin Morgan, is pitchside. He starts by saying that it is very hot there in the middle and then talks about the dimensions of the ground, mentioning that the square boundaries are 64 meters and 70 meters on either side, with the straight hit being 74 meters. Sunil Gavaskar joins him and says that there is a fair bit of grass on the surface, and both teams have got top-quality new-ball bowlers. He adds that the ball will also come into the bat nicely, and there are plenty of runs on offer. Morgs highlights that there have been two games played on this pitch 5, and Sunny G reckons that 190 plus is a good score on this surface.

GT's star all-rounder - Washington Sundar has caught up with Katey Martin ahead of the game. Asked about not warming up before the match, Sundar jokes that he is simply trying to preserve energy in the Ahmedabad heat so that he can give his 100 per cent during the game. Speaking about his batting approach, Sundar says he focuses on understanding what the situation demands and backs his instincts while watching the ball as closely as possible. Washington praises GT's top-order, saying the batters understand each other’s strengths really well, which has been one of the reasons behind their success this season.

Titans stand for a cause - Gujarat will wear their special lavender jerseys for tonight's clash as part of their annual initiative to support the fight against cancer. GT have been carrying out this initiative since 2023, aiming to spread awareness about early detection and access to quality care. GT won their lavender jersey game in 2023, while the 2024 fixture ended in a washout before they suffered a defeat in last year's match. Stay tuned for the toss and team news.

The contest within the contest - The battle could ultimately come down to Gujarat's bowling attack against Hyderabad's batting muscle. Rashid Khan appears to have rediscovered his rhythm with 15 wickets this season, the most among spinners, while GT's pace unit has picked up a league-leading 63 wickets in IPL 2026.

Destruction up front - SRH possess arguably the most destructive batting unit in the competition. Their top-three of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan have collectively struck at 191 this season, the best strike-rate for any top-order in IPL 2026, while smashing a tournament-high 80 sixes. Abhishek alone has scored 475 runs at a staggering strike rate of 210, alongside 36 sixes already this campaign.

Consistency at the top - GT's success has largely revolved around the consistency of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The duo has already added 520 runs together this season, the second-most by an opening pair in IPL 2026, with both batters currently featuring among the top five run-scorers of the tournament. Gill has scored 462 runs at an average of 46.2, while Sudharsan has piled up 440 runs with five 50-plus scores.

Greetings, all - We have got two of the form teams in the competition going head-to-head tonight in Ahmedabad as the Gujarat Titans take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both sides would have been pretty pleased watching last night's result in Dharamsala, where Punjab Kings slumped to a fourth straight defeat, especially considering PBKS are among their challengers not just for a playoff spot, but also for a potential top-two finish.

... MATCH DAY ...

High stakes in Ahmedabad - The Gujarat Titans go up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium in what promises to be a crunch clash in the playoff race. With the tournament entering its decisive phase, both sides will be eager to strengthen their playoff chances and continue the momentum built over the last few weeks. Titans on the rise - A couple of defeats at the start of the tournament and a couple more through the middle phase briefly slowed their campaign, but Gujarat now come into this contest on the back of four consecutive victories at a crucial juncture. Top three lead the charge - Before the start of the season, much of the discussion revolved around the heavy reliance on the top three of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, and the trio has delivered with 67 per cent of GT's runs coming from them. Washington and Holder add balance - The middle order did not inspire much confidence initially, but Washington Sundar has begun to make his presence felt with the bat lately, which will come as an encouraging sign for GT. The arrival of Jason Holder has also added a different dimension to the side, with the all-rounder picking up 10 wickets in just 5 matches. Although Holder is yet to make a major impact with the bat, his overall presence has made the Titans look like a far more balanced outfit. Bowling attack firing in tandem - Rashid Khan appears to have rediscovered his rhythm after a difficult few months leading into the IPL, where he looked less threatening than usual. Alongside him, the pace attack led by Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada has consistently set the tone in the Powerplay with early breakthroughs. Sunrisers recover after a slow start - Hyderabad have engineered a remarkable turnaround after a sluggish start to the season that saw them manage just 1 win from their first 4 matches. Since then, SRH have won 6 of their next 7 games to firmly push themselves back into the playoff conversation at a crucial stage of the tournament. Top four powering SRH - Most of their batting returns have come from the top four, with Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan all scoring more than 400 runs this season. After a relatively quiet start to the campaign, Travis Head has also found form in recent games. Pace unit making the difference - Like GT, it has been the pace attack that has done much of the damage for the Sunrisers, with Eshan Malinga and Sakib Hussain emerging as key figures. Not many would have expected the duo to step up in the presence of more experienced names, but they have grabbed their opportunities impressively. The arrival of Pat Cummins has further strengthened the SRH setup, while Nitish Kumar Reddy’s improvement with the ball after working on his bowling leading into the season has added valuable balance to the side. Form (Last 5 completed matches, recent first) - GT - WWWWL | SRH - WLWWW. History favours Gujarat - There have been six meetings between these two sides in the IPL. After SRH won the very first encounter, GT have gone on to win each of the next five clashes. Moreover, the Sunrisers are yet to register a victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium, having lost all four of their matches at the venue. Powerplay battle could decide it all - Last season, crossing the 200-run mark in Ahmedabad almost felt routine, with the surface regularly producing batting shootouts. This year, the conditions have posed a different challenge with seamers finding movement both through the air and off the deck. How the top orders of both sides negotiate that early threat could well decide the direction of the contest.
