Right then, that is it from this game and the heat is on for the top place in the points table with India and New Zealand, the two unbeaten teams facing each other in their next encounter. For now, though, the caravan moves to Bengaluru for Match number 18 where a wounded Pakistan team will go up against a resurgent Australia and both sides will be itching for a win. That encounter will take place on Friday, the 20th of October and will begin at 2 pm IST (8.30 am GMT) but as usual, you can join us early for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India says that it was a good win. Adds that they didn't start that well with the ball but the guys pulled it back in the middle phase and toward the end as well. Tells that their fielding has been brilliant in the last three games and here too and everyone is putting their best effort into the matches. Praises Ravindra Jadeja for his excellent spell and that amazing catch but says a hundred is a hundred (On Kohli stealing the Man of the Match from Jadeja). Credits the bowlers for being smart and hitting the right lengths. Says that they are doing well as a group and a medal for all the performance after every game motivates a lot as well. Mentions that Hardik Pandya pulled up a bit but it is not anything major and they will need to assess it more when he pulls up in training the next day. Acknowledges the crowd and says that they are coming in big numbers and hopes that it gets even bigger and louder as they move on.

Bangladesh's skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto is down for a chat. Shanto says India are always a good side and are capable of doing good things. Adds that they have played three of the best teams in the tournament but they could have done better and their best is yet to come. Tells that Tanzid Hasan batted really well and the fast bowlers were good too but if he or Litton Das stayed there a bit longer and they picked up a couple of more wickets, things could have been different. Mentions that Shakib Al Hasan is recovering well and should be fit for the next game.

Virat Kohli is the Player of the Match for his stellar ton. Kohli starts by apologizing in a fun way for stealing the award from Ravindra Jadeja and says that he wanted to make a big contribution as he has got a few fifties in World Cup games but not enough centuries. Adds that even if you dream about the start he had, you go back to sleep because it was unbelievable and reckons that the pitch was really good and the ball came onto the bat nicely. Says that the team is doing well and the atmosphere of the team is pretty relaxed but also adds that it is a long tournament. Says that he and Ravichandran Ashwin are the only two players in the team to have won the World Cup and to play in front of such a crowd is a pleasure.

The Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, the stand-in captain for Bangladesh, Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and wanted to put runs on the board. It was a brisk start by the Bangladeshi openers as Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das looked in good flow and added 93 runs for the first wicket. The frontline pacers for India didn't have much of an impact with the new ball but Kuldeep Yadav was able to break the stand and provide the opening. In the middle phase, all the other bowlers managed to pick up timely wickets after both openers were dismissed having surpassed the 50-run mark. Mushfiqur Rahim seemed to the anchoring the innings for Bangladesh but he too fell and it was then a big effort from Mahmudullah to take them over the 250-run mark. Ravindra Jadeja was the standout bowler for India with others chipping in as well. As far as the chase is concerned, it was yet another fast and furious effort from India to get their fourth win of the campaign.

Bangladesh have once again not been able to live up to the big stage as after a very solid start with the bat, they could muster up only 256 runs. This effort was then made to look even smaller as the frontline bowlers gave away runs in the first 10 overs. They did manage to pick up wickets in the middle phase and Mehidy Hasan did more than a fine job of being the lead spinner in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan but it just wasn't enough. Hasan Mahmud attacked well and even though he was expensive, he did pick up the wicket of the Indian skipper. Shoriful Islam was expensive too and Mustafizur Rahman didn't get much of a role with the ball. They need to pull up their socks or their campaign could end off in a hurry.

A victory that was yet again set up by the bowlers who kept Bangladesh to a below-par total. Skipper Rohit Sharma once again came out with aggressive intent and put the opposition bowlers under pressure right from the word go. Shubman Gill started off a bit slow but Rohit was going guns blazing before getting out on 48. Virat Kohli got off to a quick start as well thanks to some sloppy bowling and Gill too started showing his class and got to his maiden World Cup fifty. Both Gill and Iyer then got out playing big shots but India were firmly in front by then. KL Rahul joined Kohli in the middle and the two made sure there was no blemish and the former even gave Virat full support when the talismanic batter made it a mission to end the match with a hundred to his name and that's exactly what he managed to do, even surpassing 26,000 international runs across formats in the process.

INDIA GO FOUR OUT OF FOUR! A bit of an enthralling end to a game that was long over and eventually, Virat Kohli gets to that three-figure mark. All in all, yet another dominating performance from the hosts and they join New Zealand as the only two teams to have a perfect record thus far in the tournament.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! Bangladesh players stride out to the middle and take their respective field positions. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are the two openers for India. Shoriful Islam to start proceedings with the ball. Here e go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, Bangladesh have posted a fighting albeit under-par total on the board but their bowlers will need to be at their absolute best if they are to defend this and upset the hosts. India have a long batting order and with most of the batters in form will fancy themselves to gun this down and maintain their unbeaten record in the tournament. But if Hardik Pandya is unable to take the field and Bangladesh do get early wickets, it could turn out to be quite a contest. Join us in a bit to see how the chase unfolds.

Ravindra Jadeja is down for a quick chat. He says that the wicket looks very good and there was no turn. Adds that if they play normal cricket, they should get over the line. On his celebration, he says that it was for the fielding coach who gives out the best fielder award after the game and he wants to get his hands on that trophy. Mentions that it looks like a flat wicket and hopes that the batters can get the job done. Also says that when there is no turn for the spinner, you have to bowl wicket-to-wicket and keep the lines tight.

India, on the other hand, will be happy with the way they recovered after that big opening partnership. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah bowled well with the new ball but without any rewards. They suffered a setback when Hardik Pandya got injured just after bowling three balls and Virat Kohli finished the over which got the crowd going. It was once again the magic of Kuldeep Yadav that provided them the crucial breakthrough which was followed up well by Ravindra Jadeja who got two important wickets as well. A scintillating catch from KL Rahul behind the stumps got Siraj his first wicket which put more pressure on the batters and the hosts managed to squeeze in some cheap overs. Then Jadeja produced another stunner to give Bumrah his first wicket. They kept the pressure on with both pacers getting one more wicket each in the death overs while Shardul Thakur who had another off day got one too in the end.

Bangladesh found it a bit hard initially against the Indian pacers but their openers did not throw their wickets away and once their eyes were set started the counter-attack. They targeted Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur and racked up some beautiful boundaries. Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan created a bit of history as they added 93 runs together which is also the highest opening partnership for Bangladesh in ODI World Cups. Tanzid finally showed why he was backed and made a fine fifty but got out just after reaching it. Das lost a couple of partners and then decided to change gears, it worked for him as he brought up his second half-century of the tournament but got out on 66 going for a big one as well. Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy steadied the ship for them after that but the latter struggled throughout and caved under pressure as he made 16 off 35 balls which cost him side a lot of deliveries. Rahim departed after a well-made 38 but the experience of Mahmudullah came in handy as he provided the finishing touches with a decent knock of 46 off just 36 balls and a few lusty blows from Nasum Ahmed and cracking six of the last ball from Shoriful helped them get to a competitive total.

Another good bowling performance from India! They would have hoped to finish even better but will be pleased with the overall effort. Bangladesh will be kicking themselves for not fully capitalising on the start given by their openers and has to settle for 256 runs.

49.50

Back of a length and angled into the body, Shoriful Islam gets cramped for room but manages to block it out.

49.41

We have gone from cricket to tennis now! Mustafizur Rahman early to back away and Jasprit Bumrah angles in a bumper right at the helmet. Fizz brings out the forehand smash and gets it through extra cover for a single. The 250 is up for Bangladesh!

OUT! TIMBER! Jasprit Bumrah with a trademark yorker and he gets the job done. Goes full and straight, at over 140 clicks and gets it right at the base of the middle stump. The ball swerves a bit in the air as Mahmudullah tries desperately to keep it out but the ball hits the toe and smashes into the stumps. End of a fighting knock by Mahmudullah and Bumrah gets his second wicket.

49.10

Very full, in the blockhole around off and angling in. Mahmudullah looks to jam it out but gets an inside edge onto the pads. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma has gone for the review for an LBW but the replays clearly show that there was a big inside edge. One taken more in hope more than anything else.

Jasprit Bumrah (9-1-33-1) to bowl the last over. Can he keep Bangladesh under 260? Let's find out.

OUT! LBW! How often have we seen this, a batter getting to 50 and throwing it away after an interval? Way too many times and Tanzid Hasan is the latest name to join that list. Kuldeep Yadav pushes this one through quicker at around 91 clicks and on middle. Tanzid gets a stride outside off and looks to slog it away behind square on the leg side. Tanzid misses and gets rapped in front. The umpire raises his finger in a jiffy and Tanzid doesn't review, rightly so too as that was hitting middle of middle. End of a good knock though.

Drinks! The two openers for Bangladesh have given them a fine start after struggling a bit in the initial overs. Tanzid Hasan has already reached his fifty while Das is not far away and they are looking solid out there and will look to continue the good work. India needed this break to revisit their plans and come up with something different to get the breakthrough and release the pressure. An exciting phase of cricket awaits us.

Done with the pre-match formalities and it is now time to get the match started. The bell is rung by the President of the MCA to mark the beginning of play as the Indian team can be seen in a huddle before taking their places on the field. Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das are the openers for Bangladesh. Jasprit Bumrah has the brand-new ball in hand and is raring to go. A couple of slips in place, let's play...

Just a few minutes left now for the contest to get underway but first, the two teams line up along with their mascots and the officials. It is time for the respective national anthems of the two teams to be played and first, it will be the national anthem of Bangladesh, followed by the Indian national anthem.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of India says that they would have bowled first anyways. Adds that what they are doing is working for them and they do not want to change much. Tells that travelling from one place to another is a challenge but the team is in a good shape. Informs they are unchanged.

Bangladesh skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto says that they will bat first and says that it is a proud moment for him and his family to be captaining the national team. Mentions that the pitch and weather seem nice and they will look to put runs on the board. Adds that Shakib Al Hasan is out and it is a big blow but Nasum Ahmed comes in and he can do a good job. Adds that they have some good memories against India and hopes for a good match. Also says that he didn't know they were playing against India for the first time in India after 25 years and ends by informing that apart from Shakib, Taskin Ahmed is also out and Hasan Mahmud replaces him.

India (Unchanged Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.

Bangladesh (Playing XI) - Litton Das, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Mehidy Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Nasum Ahmed (In place of Shakib Al Hasan), Hasan Mahmud (In place of Taskin Ahmed), Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman.

TOSS - Bangladesh have won the toss and they elected to BAT first.

UPDATE - Big news coming from the Bangladesh camp as Shakib Al Hasan is not playing due to a quad injury. Najmul Hossain Shanto to lead the side.

PITCH REPORT - Sanjay Manjrekar and Irfan Pathan are pitchside. Sanjay starts by saying that it is a good pitch and there are runs to be scored but the seamers won't mind bowling first and reckons it won't turn much. Irfan then adds that it is a definition of a true pitch where you can bat well and a good seamer can get good purchase as well. Adds that it is a hard pitch and a black soil pitch and it will be a high-scoring game. Also, he adds that the pacers might look to use the bouncer more rather than pitching it up but the lines have to be tight. Sanjay mentions that there won't be any changes to the Indian side and Rohit Sharma himself might bowl if it turns rather than bringing in Ravichandran Ashwin due to the left-handers in the opposition. Irfan rounds off by saying that if anyone will get turn on this pitch, it will be Kuldeep Yadav.

Shubman Gill is down for a quick chat. Gill says that it is very important for him to stick to the basics and have a positive mindset. Adds that the World Cup experience has been great and to play his first game against Pakistan was unreal and hopes that they can keep the winning run going. On Rohit Sharma, he says that it doesn't change the way he plays and Rohit is an aggressive player and plays the way he wants to play. On playing in Pune, he says that given it is a smallish ground, hopefully, they can get good runs on the board for their bowlers to defend. Mentions that it is about not losing early wickets and then being able to get those big runs in the middle overs.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have been inconsistent in this competition and will be desperate to get back to winning ways after two defeats. Their main issue is their top order and they will hope that Litton Das can find his form back and perform in this game while Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim have always been the ones to take them out of difficult situations. Captain Shakib has a good record against India with both bat and ball and in Mehidy Hasan they now have another decent all-rounder. However, if they really want to challenge the hosts, they might have to do it without Shakib who is a doubt for this game and the pacers will need to step up their game. Let's see who comes out on top. Toss and team news in a bit.

Rohit Sharma and his men have lived up to the favourites tag so far and will want to continue the momentum. The top order has fired well after a collapse in the first game and four batters have registered fifty-plus scores which also includes a ton from the skipper himself. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav have been brilliant and troubled the batters in all three games while Ravindra Jadeja has used his experience well too and they could prove to be the difference again in this match.

Hello and a warm welcome folks! After starting their World Cup campaign in fine fashion with three straight wins, the hosts, India, have their eyes set on Bangladesh to maintain the unbeaten run. However, a few of the recent results have gone in the way of the Bangla Tigers, 3 wins in the last 4 matches to be precise, giving them a big confidence boost and making this contest even more exciting to watch.

... MATCH DAY ...

The Men in Blue are back in action in the World Cup as they take on neighbours Bangladesh to maintain their unbeaten run and make it four wins in a row. Rohit Sharma's side has started their campaign emphatically with three huge wins, the last one being against arch-rivals Pakistan. Skipper's form has been terrific and he has already scored more than 200 runs in the first three games while Kohli is doing Kohli things too. The return of Shubman Gill makes them even stronger while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul have also got runs under their belts. The only thing is that their middle order is yet to be tested properly and it will be interesting to see how they perform when the opportunity arises eventually. Jasprit Bumrah is leading from the front with the ball and whenever the team needs a breakthrough, he has stepped up every time. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja have been brilliant too and the batters are finding it hard to read them on Indian wickets. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have been playing the supporting role while Hardik Pandya has been a bit inconsistent with the ball. However, they have the luxury of getting Mohammed Shami or Ravichandran Ashwin on the team whose experience could prove useful, while if they need more firepower in batting, Ishan Kishan can come in as well. History also favours the hosts as they have won three out of four matches against the same opposition in ODI World Cups. Bangladesh, on the other hand, after winning their first game of the tournament suffered back-to-back defeats and will be desperate for the two points here. Their top order has been very inconsistent and their decision to drop Tamim Iqbal for Tanzid Hasan hasn't borne much fruit till now while they will expect more from Litton Das at the top as well. They are highly dependent on their experienced players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah who have been their best batters so far but they will need much more from the players around them to challenge the hosts. Mehidy Hasan is a valuable player for them who is in good form and can bat at any position without losing much effectiveness. Their bowling is also very spin-heavy, with their skipper and Mehidy enjoying the conditions over here which could be a threat to the Indian batters. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam will need to take a bit more responsibility with the ball and if they want an extra spinner, they can bring in Mahedi Hasan as well who can also come in handy with the bat. However, they can take inspiration from that famous win against India in the 2007 ODI World Cup and believe it or not, Bangladesh have won three of the last five ODIs against the hosts which will surely give them a lot of confidence and belief that they can repeat that in this mega event. Will Bangladesh hand India their first loss in the tournament? Or will the Men in Blue reign supreme over the Bangla Tigers? Let's find out together.
