OUT! CAUGHT! Hasan Ali comes back into the attack and sends Virat Kohli packing. Back of a length outside off, Kohli hangs back and tries to drag the pull in front of square. Generally, Kohli would have just looked to work it on the leg side but went for the flamboyant shot and paid the price. Kohli is off-balance on the pull and the ball goes off the splice of the bat toward mid on where Mohammad Nawaz takes a simple catch. Today, the execution of this shot will not look as ordinary as it was because of the situation of the game but would have been the talking point on some other day, as these shortish deliveries are troubling Kohli. Do you remember his dropped catch against Australia?

Complete miscommunication and had that hit, it would have been yet another Sharma-Kohli mix-up. Rauf misses the yorker and serves a low full toss on leg stump at 147 clicks. He loses his balance slightly as he applies the brakes but then sees Kohli scooting towards the striker's end. Amidst all this, Shaheen recovers from his dive and takes aim at the wickets at the striker's end. He misses and Virat dives to make it safely. The replay though shows that Kohli would have been a goner had Shaheen Afridi hit the stumps. Rohit takes a sigh of relief and flashes a smile.

Ends up slicing it high in the air and only as far as mid-wicket. Shubman Gill stationed there, settles under the skier and reverse cups it comfortably with both hands. Pakistan lose their ninth wicket now as Hasan Ali departs.

It turns towards the line of the stumps from there as Saud Shakeel gets caught on the back foot and is hit on the pads. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking shows that the ball did skid on but turned a bit as well. Three reds. Pakistan getting a bit bogged down now as the crowd roars!

Yes, it is India taking on Pakistan in Match number 12 of the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and given that it is a World Cup clash, the stakes are that much higher. This arch-rivalry has witnessed some historic clashes in the past and more so in recent years but in ODI World Cup games, India have a one-sided record. Both sides come into this game on the back of a couple of commanding victories and will be itching to grab bragging rights in this one. India have never lost a game against Pakistan in an ODI World Cup and are currently 7-0 up in the head-to-head but they will not take things lightly because, in a high-pressure game, anything can happen. Talking about India, they dismantled Australia with the ball in their first game and cruised through with the bat and in the game against Afghanistan, they chased again and showcased their batting might by winning with 15 overs to spare. Skipper, Rohit Sharma, had a slim outing in the first game but came roaring back with a fast and furious ton against Afghanistan which is a big positive for India. The other opener's spot is still an issue due to the absence of Shubman Gill but he has recovered well from his illness and might feature in this clash which will bolster the top order further. Virat Kohli has started his campaign in fine fashion with two half-centuries in a row but their middle order hasn't quite been fully tested yet. With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah has yet again proved why he is such an asset to have and his ability to pick up wickets in all phases of the innings is a big plus. Coming to Pakistan now and after a sluggish start with the bat in their opening clash against Netherlands, they have gone strength to strength and even achieved the highest successful run-chase in World Cup history in their last game against Sri Lanka. They did have a few concerns coming into the mega event but the team as a whole seems to be peaking at the right time even without their two biggest names firing. Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi haven't had much of an impact on the side in the mega event so far but the inclusion of Abdullah Shafique and the flamboyance of Mohammad Rizwan has worked wonders for them and they have taken up the mantle with the bat. Rizwan has shown why he is such a critical member of the batting group in the first two games and his record against India will give Pakistan even more hope.
