Right then, that is it from this game and this series as well where Pakistan managed to get a consolation win while New Zealand takes the series 4-1. Next up for the Kiwis is a two-match Test series against South Africa. The first Test will start on 4th February, Sunday at 3.30 am IST (10 pm GMT, Previous Day). The Pakistani players, on the other hand, will join their respective teams in the different T20 leagues that are going on at the moment. Until next time, cheers and goodbye!

Finn Allen is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES for his incredible batting displays throughout the five games.

Iftikhar Ahmed is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant match-winning spell.

Presentation Time...

Earlier in the game, Pakistan posted a total that did not look like a winning one, but their bowlers proved us wrong. Mohammad Rizwan anchored the innings, but it was really the quick-fire cameo from Fakhar Zaman and late blows from Abbas Afridi took them to that score. For New Zealand, except for Mitchell Santner every other bowler chipped in with a couple of wickets each. While chasing, the Kiwis had a forgettable outing with the bat as they could not even cross the 100-run mark in this chase.

Pakistan, on the other hand, will be extremely happy with their bowling effort as they finally got things right in the series. Mohammad Nawaz set the tone with an early wicket while it was an incredible catch from Haseebullah Khan to get rid of the dangerous Finn Allen. Their spinners were excellent especially Iftikhar Ahmed who got the chance to bowl for the first time in this series and picked up three wickets. Nawaz ended up with two while Usama Mir and Zaman Khan chipped in with one each. The fielding and catching was excellent as well and they never let the batters settle in. It was the skipper Shaheen Afridi at the end who wrapped things up by picking up the last two wickets on consecutive deliveries to ensure the win for his side.

New Zealand lost Rachin Ravindra quite early on as he failed to make the most out of his return to the side. Finn Allen looked good for his 22 with a few lusty blows, but he too perished soon after. Just as when it looked like Tim Seifert and Will Young were steadying things for them, the latter got dismissed trying to improve the scoring rate. However, that started a collapse for them as they went from 53/3 to 72/8 in double quick time. All the hopes were on the shoulders of Glenn Phillips, and he did put up a fight for some time, but couldn't get any support from the other end and failed to get his side over the line this time around. It was too much to ask for the tail-enders and ultimately they fell short by 42 runs.

PAKISTAN AVOID THE WHITEWASH! They leave New Zealand with this solitary win which is also the first for Shaheen Afridi as skipper of his country. The Men in Green also get their first win in their last eight T20Is and will be a bit relieved and will look to build on from here. New Zealand will be disappointed as it was a perfect chance for them to make it 5-0, but they made a complete mess of it.

OUT! BOWLED'EM! Shaheen Afridi seals the deal in style and Pakistan wins by 42 runs. Afridi bowls a pinpoint yorker at the base of the middle stump as Ferguson backs away for the slog and he misses completely as the ball rattles into the stumps. Pakistan avoids the whitewash and Shaheen Afridi gets his first win as the skipper of the T20 side.

Lockie Ferguson is the last man in.

OUT! CAUGHT! Shaheen Afridi gets the big wicket of Glenn Phillips and surely the New Zealand hopes are buried now. Bowls it short and around off. Glenn Phillips goes for it and pulls it to the cow corner region. Abbas Afridi runs around at the boundary, puts in the slide, and hangs onto a terrific catch. New Zealand lose their ninth as Glenn Phillips makes the long walk back.

Commentary

Welcome back. The players and umpires are in the middle for the run-chase. Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra to open for New Zealand. It will be Shaheen Afridi with the ball for Pakistan. Here we go!

…THE RUN CHASE…

Right then, the Black Caps need just 135 to make a clean sweep in the series. Can they do it or will the Shaheen Afridi-led side make it difficult for them? We shall find out. Join us for the second essay in a bit.

Sodhi says that he is pretty happy. Adds that the guys have set the tone and they bowled in the Powerplay. He says that as there were two lefties, he was looking to keep it away from their hitting zone, especially with Zaman. Says that he is a great batter and has good reach and range of shots. Mentions that the games have been quite enjoyable with big crowds coming to support.

New Zealand were tidy with the ball with dropped a couple of chances in the outfield. That did not deter them much as the bowlers stuck to their strengths and kept the pressure on. Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson, and Ish Sodhi all chipped in with two apiece to round off a dominant effort with the ball. Right then, the Black Caps need just 135 to make a clean sweep in the series. Can they do it or will the Shaheen Afridi-led side make it difficult for them? We shall find out. Join us for the second essay in a bit.

An excellent effort with the ball by the Kiwis has restricted the Men in Green to a lowish score of 134 for 8 in their 20 overs. Opting to bat first, Pakistan lost the debutant Haseebullah Khan for a duck. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 53 for the second wicket but were a tad too slow in their approach. Babar Azam had a real struggle in the middle as he made 24-ball 13 and perished soon after. Rizwan chipped in with a run-a-ball 38 but it was Fakhar Zaman who added some impetus to the innings with a 16-ball 33. New Zealand kept picking wickets at regular intervals and never allowed Pakistan to run away with the game. The lower order also could not do much and Pakistan just managed to cross the 130-run mark.

New Zealand (Playing XI) - Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra (In place of Daryl Mitchell), Tim Seifert (WK), Will Young, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner (C), Ish Sodhi (In place of Adam Milne), Matt Henry, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson.

Pakistan (Playing XI) - Mohammad Rizwan (WK), Haseebullah Khan (In place of Saim Ayub and On Debut), Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi (C), Usama Mir (In place of Haris Rauf), Abbas Afridi (In place of Abbas Afridi), Zaman Khan.

Toss - Pakistan have won the coin toss and opted to BAT first.

Pakistan, on the flip side, have had a series to forget. Their batting has failed to fire while their bowlers have leaked runs in plenty. Shaheen Afridi in his first series as a T20I skipper has looked out of sorts and has played without any planning. In the bowling department, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf have been among the wickets but have conceded around ten runs an over. Abbas Afridi looked promising in the first two games but hasn't played since due to a niggle. With the bat, Babar Azam has been the standout among all the other batters. The southpaw has made 200 runs so far and is striking at over 150. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman are the next best but the new faces Azam Khan and Saim Ayub have failed to take their chances. Pakistan will want to avoid the series whitewash and end the tour with a consolation win. Can New Zealand clean sweep the series or will the Men in Green avoid a whitewash? Let's find out. Toss and team news in a bit. Stay tuned!

Hello and a warm welcome to our coverage of the 5th and final T20I of this series between New Zealand and Pakistan from the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The hosts, New Zealand have been utterly dominant in the series and have won all four games so far. Pakistan hasn't had any answers to New Zealand's fearless approach and this has cost them dearly.  Finn Allen has been sensational for the home side, smacking over 250 runs and striking at over 200 while Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips have also played their part with meaningful runs. With the ball, Tim Southee and Adam Milne have been impressive and the Black Caps will hope to carry the momentum and make it a clean sweep to the series, winning 5-0.

…MATCHDAY…

New Zealand and Pakistan meet for one final time in this long five-match T20I series in Christchurch and so far, it has completely been one-way traffic with the hosts notching up four wins out of four matches. Having lost regular skipper Kane Williamson in the first match with an injury, the Kiwis have shown no signs of slowing down. Finn Allen has been absolutely sensational up top smashing the ball to all parts of the ground and even scored a big ton in the series. Along with him, Daryl Mitchell has just gone from strength to strength adding to the reputation he has developed in the last year or so. The Kiwis have been brilliant with the bat but have defended equally well with the ball and the one time they bowled first, they kept the opposition to a low total. With the series in the bag and eyes on a washout, New Zealand will look to continue in the same way but we might see a few changes to the Playing XI. On the other hand, it has been a nightmare start to Shaheen Afridi's captaincy stint with the T20I side and the hosts have blown them away. The batting has really let them down as apart from Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan no one else has shown up. With the ball, they have been costly as well and when they did get a chance after picking up early wickets in the last game, they let that slip as well. Youngster Abbas Afridi has been a positive point with the ball but they need to step up as a batting and bowling unit in order to gain the much-needed confidence a few months before the T20 World Cup. Can Pakistan round off their miserable tour Down Under with a win? Or will New Zealand simply keep on winning? We shall find out.
