De Kock is made to stay back and really reach for it and as he looks to cut, de Kock loses control a bit and ends up just slicing the ball to the right of backward point. Glenn Phillips takes a sharp catch at a comfortable height to his right and de Kock departs after yet another sensational inning. Tim Southee has his first wicket of this World Cup.

Tom Latham, the captain of New Zealand says that they will bowl first. Says that it looks like a reasonably good surface and dew might come on later. Informs that they have a few injury concerns and Tim Southee comes in for Lockie Ferguson. Mentions that they have been on the wrong side in the past couple of games but have got a good few days of practice and are ready for the contest. Ends by saying that South Africa isn't a team against whom they have played much ODI cricket in recent times but they did play them in the warm-up before the tournament.

One of the major reasons for their success has been their batting unit's ability to rack up huge totals. Quinton de Kock has stood out, and he has found good support from Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. In the absence of Kagiso Rabada, who missed the game against Pakistan due to lower back spasms, Marco Jansen filled the void with an impressive showing while Tabraiz Shamsi justified his selection with a four-wicket haul. It has been more than two decades since South Africa last got the better of New Zealand in ODI World Cups.
