Commentary
We are back for the fourth inning to commence! New Zealand just need 54 runs to win this Test match after a draw they faced in the first one. Tom Latham and Devon Conway will be opening for them. Kemar Roach will get the new ball in his hand to start. Away we go...
... FOURTH INNING ...
West Indies on the other hand, couldn't really get the better of the opposition's bowling unit. There were times when they had some good partnerships, but they failed to hold on to them. Brandon King, Kavem Hodge and Justin Greaves are the only batters who crossed the double digits, which basically sums up their part of the inning. Now, their bowling unit had only 56 runs to defend, which is next to an impossible task, but we have seen miracles happen in this sport. So stay tuned with us, as the fourth inning will commence in no time.
West Indies ended their second inning with a lead of 55 runs. The Kiwis' bowling unit rose up to the occasion. Kudos to the fielding department as well, because when the bowlers were struggling to get the wicket, it was because of the fielders that they got some important breakthroughs. Lastly, Jacob Duffy, you deserve a bow. What a bowling spell we just witnessed. He ended with 17.2-4-38-5 to close the inning.
OUT! IN THE AIR... TAKEN! Jacob Duffy gets the FIVE-FER and as he is walking back to the pavilion with the ball in his hand, the crowd are up on their feet to applaud the masterpiece they witnessed. Short of a length, on middle, angling in. Ojay Shields once again swings his willow to heave it to deep mid-wicket, but the ball gets big on him and gets the top edge. It loops toward the left of the deep fine leg region, where Michael Rae does well to get underneath the skier and scoops in safely. West Indies are all out with a lead of 55 runs.
FOUR! West Indies are going all out to extend their lead. Much fuller, on off, Ojay Shields punches it through mid off and gets the boundary.

OUT! EDGE AND TAKEN! The debutant gets his third wicket. On a good length, outside off, around the fifth stump. Jayden Seales looks to punch it away, through cover but fails to get the middle. The ball kisses the outside edge and gets into the gloves of Mitchell Hay.
In the air... safe! A well-directed bouncer from Rae on middle. Kemar Roach loses his sight on the ball and goes for the pull shot. The ball gets the top edge and loops to drop safely to the right of the deep fine leg fielder for a single.
Back of a length, wide outside off. Kemar Roach defends it inside the line for no run.
FOUR! SHOT! Back of a length, just outside off. Kemar Roach swings his willow to punch it over cover for four runs.

Tom Latham moves to his left and takes the catch into his palm. Duffy is on a Hat-Trick.

OUT! LBW! Excellent review by New Zealand and Jacob Duffy gets his third now. This one is on a good length, pitching it just outside off and nips in. Justin Greaves prods halfway to defend it but the ball sneaks past the inside edge and thumps the back thigh pad. After an appeal turned down by the umpire, Tom Latham asks Duffy, who is looking unsure about it, but Latham takes the risk and opts for the review. The UltraEdge shows bat involvement, and the Ball Tracking turns three red. West Indies lose their seventh wicket. They have a lead of 40 runs.
Back of a length, on off, Justin Greaves lunges and lifts his willow up to offer no shot at it.
Short, on off, Justin Greaves ducks under it.

We are all set for the third inning of this riveritng test match. The umpires are on the field and so are the players of New Zealand. Michael Bracewell will take the field for Blair Tickner as he did in the first inning of West Indies. Brandon King and John Campbell to open for the Cherons. Jacob Duffy has the new red cherry in his hand. Let's play...
... THIRD INNING ...
After the loss of Conway's wicket, Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Hay forged a great 5th wicket partnership, adding more 73 runs to the Kiwis. Mitchell Hay got his maiden half-century and it's been a special inning for the 25-year-old. Well, after their partnership broke up, the tailenders did well enough to get a small partnership and stretched the lead to 73 runs. On the other end, the Chevrons didn't have a goot first session, where they only picked two wickets, but after the Lunch break, they made a comeback.
New Zealand finishes their first inning with having a lead of 73 runs. Looking at the pitch, it is not offering any major impact on the deliveries, but in the pitch report, according to the experts, they said that it will open up as the match progresses. New Zealand's top order batted well and provided some crucial runs, especially Devon Conway, scoring 60 off 108 deliveries.
OUT! BOWLED'EM! On a good length, on off and shapes it in. Michael Rae looks to heave it away but misses on the inside edge and the ball rattles the top of the leg stump. New Zealand are all out now as Blair Tickner got injured. New Zealand have posted 278.

Commentary
We are back with New Zealand's reply to a total of 205 from the West Indies. Tom Latham and Devon Conway have walked out for New Zealand, whereas Kemar Roach will be bowling the first over of this contest.
... SECOND INNINGS ...
The Black Caps' bowling was a masterclass, expertly reeling in the Windies after letting them off to a solid start but bouncing back. Blair Tickner stormed back in the post-lunch session with a devastating spell, claiming 4 wickets in total, while Michael Rae took 3, and Glenn Phillips and Jacob Duffy added one each. However, Tickner's injury woes resurfaced, dislocating his right shoulder, leaving doubts over his participation in the contest and potentially leaving the Kiwis a bowler short.
The West Indies' chances fizzle out in a heap. A solid 153 for 3 had them cruising, but a calamitous collapse sees them crumble for 205. Shai Hope's departure was the turning point, triggering a horrific slide where the last 7 wickets tumble for next to nothing. The top and middle order, John Campbell, Brandon King, Shai Hope, and Roston Chase, all got starts, but converting them into big scores proved elusive, and it was a case of 'so near, yet so far' for the Windies.
The West Indies' bright start is snatched away as they implode to 205 all out! Blair Tickner's sizzling bowling, paired with Michael Rae's pinpoint accuracy, has absolutely bulldozed through the Windies' batting line-up, leaving them in tatters against the scorching New Zealand attack.

Commentary
It's all over for the 2nd Test between New Zealand and the West Indies, and the Kiwis have emerged victorious in a convincing 9-wicket win! They've taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the series, with one game to go. The 3rd and Final Test is scheduled to start on December 18th at 3:30 am IST (10 pm GMT, previous day). Join us an hour early for the buildup, and get ready for what promises to be an intense conclusion to the series. Cheers.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham praised his team's improvement throughout the match, stating that they got better and better after a slow start on the morning of Day 1. He highlighted the team's ability to adjust and bowl effectively in the second innings, particularly Jacob Duffy's five-wicket haul and the contributions from subs. Latham commended Mitchell Hay's solid batting under pressure, saying he played in his natural style, just like he does for Canterbury. He also appreciated Michael Rae's impressive bowling, picking up important wickets on Day 1, including bowling into the wind. Latham noted that the efforts of all players, including Blair Tickner, didn't go unnoticed, and was disappointed to see Tickner get injured. He acknowledged the team's batting performance wasn't up to par, but was optimistic about the upcoming break to work on it.
West Indies captain Roston Chase has expressed his concerns over the team's batting performance, saying they're struggling to capitalize on good starts. After their impressive second innings in the first Test, the Windies were hoping to replicate that form, but it didn't quite materialize. Chase mentioned that they initially thought the pitch would be similar to Christchurch, but it turned out to be easier for batting. Despite the setback, he's looking to motivate his team to bounce back and level the series in the next Test.
Jacob Duffy has been named Player of the Match, and he attributed his success to the team's solid bowling effort, particularly in the first innings. He praised his fellow bowlers, saying it was great to see everyone contributing to the win. Duffy also acknowledged the tough part of seeing bowlers get injured, but was pleased to have wrapped up the match and get some days off. He expressed feeling comfortable at the Test level, crediting his understanding of his best ball and ability to adapt. Duffy also showered praise on his friend Michael Rae, saying he was brilliant bowling into the wind, and was happy to see him perform well.
The presentation ...
The West Indies struggled on Day 3, losing back-to-back wickets of Brandon King and Shai Hope in the first session, leaving them at 58/4 and trailing by 15 runs. Despite efforts from King, Kavem Hodge, and Justin Greaves, they couldn't muster much resistance, setting a target of 56. Jacob Duffy's five-wicket haul was instrumental in restricting the visitors. In response, New Zealand's openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway got off to a steady start, and after Latham's departure, Kane Williamson joined Conway to wrap up the innings comfortably, securing a convincing 9-wicket win.
New Zealand consolidated their advantage on Day 2, with Devon Conway's 60 and Mitchell Hay's impressive debut 61 guiding them to 278 and a 73-run lead. The bowling unit then struck early in the West Indies' second innings, reducing them to 32/2 by Stumps and leaving them 41 runs behind. The hosts were firmly in control, having gained the upper hand with the loss of two West Indies batters in the final hours, putting the Caribbean team on the back foot.
New Zealand have taken a 1-0 lead in the Test series with a convincing 9-wicket win over the West Indies! The Kiwis dominated the match from the start, with their fast bowlers restricting the Windies to 205 all out in the first innings. Blair Tickner's impressive return to Test cricket was unfortunately cut short due to a shoulder injury, but not before he took crucial wickets, while debutant Michael Rae also made a strong impression with three wickets. The Windies' challenge fizzled out after a promising start from openers John Campbell and Brandon King, and the Kiwis cruised to a comfortable victory.

… DAY 3, SECOND SESSION …
Tevin Imlach and Justin Greaves are trying to make a sturdy partnership right now, and they will look forward to surviving another session to extend the lead. However, it is a tough task, but West Indies really need someone to step up to notch a big inning. On the other hand, the fielding of the Kiwis was on point. There was only a single fumble in the entire first session, where a sloppy fielding of Kane Williamson allowed the batters to get a couple of runs, but other than that, they were up to the mark. They will be eager to get early breakthroughs post Lunch break so that they can start their inning by tomorrow. So, refill your snacks and rejoin us by 12.40 am GMT to get the second session going!
Further on that event, the centurion from the previous Test for the Windies, Shai Hope, walked off the field in the very same over. Skipper, Roston Chase, as well, failed to put much impact on the match. Kavem Hodge was looking good on the crease and just when things got settled, a stunning catch from Will Young made him walk back to the pavilion.
LUNCH ON DAY 3! Yet another Day where New Zealand are comfortably sitting on the driver's seat before the Lunch break. West Indies trailed by 41 runs before the start of the Moving Day, where they lost one top-order batter and one nightwatchman on Day 2. Today, Kavem Hodge and Brandon King started pretty decently. They got a couple of nicks on the edge, but other than that, there were no real terrors from the Kiwi bowlers. But things started to fall off after a brilliant piece of fielding by Michael Bracewell, which dismissed Brandon King.

Drinks break! With that fifth wicket, the umpires called for some refreshments. It has been a terrific first hour of play for the Kiwis. They picked up three wickets and right now they are cruising. West Indies trail by 3 runs and they really want someone to step up and notch a big run. Justin Greaves is the new man in.
OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! The Kiwis never really appealed and started celebrating as they are confident with that one, but the skipper of the Windies, Chase, has taken a review. Jacob Duffy scoots from over the stumps and offers a hard-length delivery, just outside off. No such movement on that delivery. Chase rocks back and looks to block it to his front but the ball just kisses the outside edge and gets into the gloves of Mitchell Hay. The UltraEdge pops up and it shows that there is a clear spike as the ball passes the outside edge. West Indies lose their fifth wicket and also their first review. They still have two reviews left in the bank.

OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! What an over it was for the Kiwis. Michael Rae dishes another good length, on off and middle, shaping it in. Shai Hope rocks back and looks to work it toward the leg side, but he doesn't roll his wrists as the ball stays but straighter than he expected. OUT! KING IS RUN OUT! A bit of a mix-up between the batters cost them their third wicket. Michael Rae scoots from over the wicket and dishes on a hard length, just outside off. Brandon King rides the delivery and bunts it wide of the short cover fielder. Kings says yes for the run, but Hodge sees Michael Bracewell in the region, dives ot his right and makes the stop. Hodge changes his plan and rejects the call to send his partner back, but King is halfway down the track. He sprints back at the striker's end, and Bracewell throws it at the striker's end just after he spots the striker is away from his crease. Kings dives to get into the popping crease, but he fails to make it in time, as Mitchell Hay gloves the ball and thumps the thumps.

We are all set to start with the action on Day 3! The umpires are marching toward the center of the park and so are the players. Kavem Hodge and Brandon King will be continuing their inning. Zakary Foulkes will start for the Kiwis and he has the new ball, which is just 10 overs old. Away we go...
The stage is set for a thrilling 'Moving Day' of this Test match. The West Indies will need to bat with patience and resilience to shift the momentum, while the Black Caps are looking to capitalize on their strong position. It's going to be an intense and gripping contest.
The Windies will need to channel their fighting spirit from the first Test's second innings to stay in this match. For the Black Caps, it's a straightforward game plan: apply relentless pressure with the ball and capture the remaining eight wickets swiftly. They're eager to exploit any movement or bounce the pitch offers, and if they can dismiss the visitors cheaply, they'll be in a commanding position to dictate the terms of the match and pursue a target for victory.
The West Indies will need to dig deep to turn this match around. They'll be looking to Brandon King and Kavem Hodge to anchor the innings and erase the deficit. The early loss of John Campbell and Anderson Phillip to the in-form Michael Rae and Jacob Duffy has put the Windies on the back foot, and they'll need to form substantial partnerships to stay in the game. The Kiwis' bowling attack may have lost Blair Tickner, but they're still looking potent under the Wellington skies.
The Basin Reserve is buzzing, and it's going to be an explosive Day 3 of Test cricket. The Black Caps have seized the reins, and the West Indies are facing an uphill battle. After a dominant Day 2 performance, New Zealand is in the driver's seat, with the Windies still trailing by 41 runs. The pitch is still offering something for the bowlers, and the Black Caps are itching to exploit any movement or bounce to wrap up the innings.
... DAY 3, SESSION 1 ...
That's a wrap on Day 2! The Kiwis have dominated proceedings yet again on the second day, having a lead of 41 runs and also picking two wickets. Looking forward to seeing what Day 3, or we can say the 'Moving Day' in Test cricket language, brings up. The action resumes at 10 pm GMT (previous day), with the buildup starting an hour earlier. Thanks for tuning in, cheers!
Jacob Duffy is up for a chat. He says that he felt it was a good time to bowl at the end. On being asked about the LBW review surrounding Anderson Phillip, Jacob said that he was surprised the LBW of Anderson Phillip wasn't given at first, as it looked plumb, so they decided to go upstairs and got the wicket after DRS. Duffy mentioned Mitch Hay's quiet presence behind the stumps, which didn't give away much. He reckons getting a lead is good, praising his team's decent batting effort and acknowledging a lead of 80-90 is decent. He adds that he was fit going into the game but felt a bit flat with his bowling, though he's feeling better now and is focused on taking wickets for the team. He praises Michael Rae, saying he's awesome to watch and a great all-rounder, good with both ball and bat. Ends up noting that the wicket historically gets better, but acknowledges the opposition bowled some good balls. He emphasizes the need to keep putting in good balls to get rewarded.
At the innings break, the heavy roller was called in by the West Indies, which makes the pitch hard and flat, and also gives a temporary advantage to the batting side. But still, New Zealand's bowling unit managed to bag two scalps by the end of the play with a lead of 41 runs. After the fall of the first wicket, the Windies opted for Anderson Phillip to survive the day as a nightwatchman, but he couldn't rise to the occasion.
After the Lunch break, West Indies had a dream start by getting two crucial wickets of in-form Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra in the first 15-20 minutes. But after that, the Kiwis fought back with the sturdy partnership between Daryl Mitchell and debutant Mitchell Hay, who scored his maiden half-century. But it was Anderson Phillip once again who stepped up and got the partnership broken. After that particular event, wickets started to fall one by one, but the tail-enders managed to get strings of small partnerships which extended their lead to 73 runs in the third session.
Stumps on Day 2 and what a day it was! SESSION SUMMARY - 27.4 overs, 110 runs and 6 wickets. Day 2 started well on behalf of the Kiwis with scoring at a healthy rate initially, but ultimately losing 2 crucial wickets in the first session. Tom Latham's dismissal set the tone, followed by Kane Williamson's big wicket, which was taken by Anderson Phillip. Earlier, Devon Conway's partnership with Williamson had helped the hosts score at a healthy clip, as a dropped catch by Brandon King proved costly, which let Conway off the hook.

Commentary
New Zealand have posted 278.

... DAY 2, SECOND SESSSION ...
For West Indies, there is still a lot of room left to fight this back. They will yet again look forward to give the same impact like they gave post Lunch break. If not in wickets, then in maidens, they need to put the pressure on the batters and make them sweat for each run. With the game poised in a state where anything can happen, this last session stick around with us as the last session will commence in no time.
SESSION SUMMARY - 23 overs, 88 runs and 3 wickets. New Zealand are 200 right now and they trail by just 5 runs. Well, it seems that the Chevrons are in their backfoot at this point of time, but folks, this session has renewed some hope for them. They took 2 wickets in the first couple of overs and after that they secured Daryl Mitchell dismissal in the last 15 minutes before Tea break has boosted their morale. But the debutant on the crease, Mitchell Hay, is having some knock. He got his maiden half-century and he is all set to nudge a big score for the Kiwis.

... DAY 2, SESSION 2 ...
The Windies' bowling has been a bit inconsistent, hasn't it? Tight lines, but also some wayward deliveries that gave the Kiwis' batters opportunities to hit boundaries. Kane Williamson certainly took advantage of that. Roach and Anderson Phillip have had some success with their nagging length, and it's likely the Windies will stick to that plan in the next session. The Kiwis will be looking to capitalize on the Windies' inconsistency and build on their strong position but if WI can hit the right areas, there is a lot in the deck for the bowlers. We will be back by 12.05 am GMT.
A dropped catch can be a costly affair, and Brandon King would be kicking himself for letting Conway off the hook. Conway's been looking solid, and he's well-positioned to take the Kiwis to a strong total. With 55 runs under his belt, he's got the momentum, and the rest of the batting order will be looking to add to the total as well. The Kiwis are definitely in the driver's seat, and it's going to be interesting to see how the Windies try to turn the game around.
LUNCH ON DAY 2! SESSION SUMMARY - 88 runs, 2 wickets in 25 overs - A great session of cricket, with the Kiwis scoring at a healthy rate, but the Windies snatching 2 crucial wickets. Tom Latham's dismissal set the tone for the session, and Kane Williamson's wicket was a big blow to the Kiwis, given the way he was pacing his innings. Anderson Phillip's delivery that got him was absolute magic! Devon Conway's partnership with Williamson was key in the hosts' scoring at a healthy clip, but now it's all about how the Kiwis rebuild with Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra looking to start from scratch.

Day 2 is about to get underway, and Tom Latham and Devon Conway are back at the crease, looking to build on their solid start. The Kiwis are off to a steady start, and they'll be keen to keep the momentum going. Kemar Roach is bowling the first over of the day. Let's see how the Kiwis respond to the challenge. Unfortunate news for New Zealand fans, Blair Tickner has dislocated his left shoulder and will not be featuring in this game.
The stage is set for a thrilling day of Test cricket, with New Zealand looking to take a commanding lead. The first session of play will be crucial, and the team that comes out on top will be well-placed to dictate the course of the game. The Windies will be looking to produce a magical spell and rip through the top order, while the Black Caps will be focused on building a solid foundation. It's shaping up to be an enthralling contest, and fans are in for a treat.
The West Indies will come out with renewed energy on day two, looking to exploit any early morning swing or seam movement. Their premier fast bowlers will be looking to break the overnight partnership swiftly and expose the middle order to the new ball as quickly as possible. The Black Caps, on the other hand, will be focused on survival and consolidation, aiming to navigate the tricky initial period and then accelerate their scoring rate as the day progresses and the ball softens. The top order batters will need to show resilience and patience to build an imposing total that can realistically ensure their team moves into an unassailable position.
In response, New Zealand's openers, Tom Latham and Devon Conway, showed remarkable composure to see out the tricky final overs of the day, finishing at 24 for no loss. This solid start has given the Black Caps a slight edge heading into day two, and they will be looking to build on this momentum. The focus will be on converting this strong position into a match-defining lead, and with all ten wickets in hand, the Black Caps have the perfect platform to build a truly formidable total. A significant first-innings lead will be crucial in determining the course of this game, putting immense pressure on the West Indies' batting line-up in their second innings.
The scene is set for a captivating second day of the 2nd Test match between New Zealand and the West Indies, with the Black Caps looking to build on their strong position. The West Indies were bowled out for a modest 205 runs, thanks to a disciplined bowling attack from the Black Caps. Blair Tickner and Michael Rae were in superb form, swinging the ball and finding the edges, while the other bowlers maintained the pressure, leaving the Windies struggling to cope. Despite flashes of resilience from the top order, the West Indies were unable to capitalize on their early momentum, and the Black Caps' bowlers reaped the rewards.
... DAY 2, SESSION 1 ...
That's a wrap on Day 1! The Kiwis have dominated proceedings, bowling out the West Indies for 205 and heading into the break without losing a wicket. A brilliant day for New Zealand, and the momentum is certainly with them. Looking forward to seeing what Day 2 brings. The action resumes at 10 pm GMT (previous day), with the buildup starting an hour earlier. Thanks for tuning in, cheers!
New Zealand pacer Michael Rae shared his thoughts on his impressive debut performance, revealing that he had received the news of his potential inclusion just a couple of days ago, and the past few days had been surreal for him. He expressed his excitement to have taken his first wicket in Test format and acknowledged that he had learned a thing or two during the day, adjusting his game at the right time to bag a few wickets, and was thrilled to have pulled one back and caught the edge, with Daryl taking it safely. Rae attributed his success to his pace, stating that he is a bit quicker than many, which gave him confidence, and praised the West Indies batters, saying they are excellent cricketers who would punish any mistakes. He lauded his fellow bowlers, Jacob Duffy, and Zakary Foulkes, who had bowled beautifully but were unlucky to not get many wickets, and felt that bowling out the West Indies on the first day and getting to bat on the same day was a good feeling, crediting Tom Latham for his honest and consistent messaging, which helped the team reap rewards in the last session.
In reply to the West Indies' first innings total, the Kiwis' openers, Tom Latham and Devon Conway, got off to a solid start, putting on 24 runs together in 9 overs without giving the Windies' bowlers much to celebrate. They're looking comfortable at the crease, and if they can continue to build on this foundation, the Kiwis could be in a great position. A solid opening partnership will be crucial, and if they can get it right, it could set the tone for the rest of the innings.
The injury to Blair Tickner will be a major concern for the Kiwis. Blair Tickner probably dislocated his shoulder while trying to save runs at fine leg is a significant blow, especially considering how crucial pacers' injuries were in the previous game. With Tickner's availability in doubt for the rest of the game, the Kiwis will be relying heavily on their batters to provide a healthy cushion.
The lower order tried to put in the hard yards and show some grit, but they couldn't add much despite chewing up a few deliveries. Glenn Phillips' dismissal of Tevin Imlach made inroads into the tail, and the rest of the tail failed to add significant runs. The New Zealand bowlers' pressure and precision ultimately paid off, restricting the West Indies to 205 all out.
The West Indies' batting lineup showed promise, but ultimately fell short. Shai Hope, John Campbell, Brandon King, and Roston Chase all got starts but were dismissed at crucial moments, preventing them from capitalizing on their good beginnings. Blair Tickner's superb bowling was instrumental in breaking through the Windies' batting order, claiming 4 wickets. Michael Rae also had an impressive performance, taking 3 wickets.
Stumps on Day 1 and what a day it's been! The West Indies were put in to bat and started strong, thanks to John Campbell and Brandon King's 66-run opening partnership. However, they lost two wickets at the same score, taking some of the momentum away. The middle order tried to steady the ship, with Shai Hope top-scoring with 48, but unfortunately, the batters below him struggled to contribute significantly, leading to a disappointing total of 205 all out.

Chevron skipper, Roston Chase and Justin Greaves are now trying to build a strong partnership. Chase is looking much settled than before and he is looking a bit more comfortable with the shorter deliveries. The Kiwis will desperately try to take the matter in hand and strike West Indies' batters as much as they can, so that they can start early on Day 2, as the pitch is opening up for the bowlers. Stick around with us, as the last session of Day 1 will commence in no time.
After the dismissal, Shai Hope and Roston Chase tried to forge the same partnership. Hope was looking very good with his front-footed strokeplay. The Kiwi bowlers returned to their short-ball tactic and saw Chase suffering to face bouncers. They kept on mixing their line and lengths, and as a result, they found the wicket of Hope, who missed his seventh half-century by two runs.

We are back after the Lunch Break! The umpire and players are making their way to the centre of the park. John Campbell and Shai Hope to continue their knock in the second session. Zakary Foulkes has the red cherry in his hand, which is 27 overs old. Let's play...
… DAY 1, SECOND SESSION …
New Zealand need to attack the stumps and bowl fuller to the opposition batter. They are often dishing the fuller deliveries away from the stump, which is giving the Chevrons' batters to drive without any fear, as the ball is not swinging much. The two wickets they got were from the deliveries that attacked the stumps. On the other hand, Shai Hope and John Campbell will look to extend their partnership till the end of the Tea Break. John Campbell is on 44 and he is just six runs away from his fourth half-century. But for now, grab some coffee or snacks till the end of the Lunch break and come back around 12.40 am GMT to witness the action in the second session.
The day started with a strong partnership of John Campbell and Brandon King, who had a knot of 66 runs partnership. They were pretty confident till the end of the drinks break, but after that, the LBW of Blair Tickner boosted the Kiwis. After the dismissal of King, Kavem Hodge stepped on the crease and got dismissed by Tickner in the same fashion he had eliminated King. However, after that, the previous test's centurion, Shai Hope, stepped on the crease and eased the situation. Campbell is looking sturdy since he entered the green turf. There were quite a few moments where he got an inside edg,e but the ball bounces away from the wickets, but other than that, he is doing really well to keep the Chevrons up front.
SESSION SUMMARY - 27 overs, 92 runs and 2 wickets. Well, if we look back to the first session of this day, we can say that the Chevrons are having a bit upper hand. They have really scored 100 runs and if they continue this till the end of the day, we can see them ending the day with more than 240-250 and then they can continue fresh tomorrow. But again, this is cricket and we all have seen things happening in this game.

We are done with the pre-match formalities. The umpires are out to the middle and New Zealand players take their respective field positions. John Campbell and Brandon King will be the openers for West Indies. Jacob Duffy has the red cherry in his hands. Off we go...
We are moments away from the start of the game, but before that, the players from both sides make their way out to the middle and line up for the respective national anthems. It will be West Indies' first followed by that of New Zealand's.
PITCH REPORT - Mark Richardson described the pitch as having a nice, even covering of grass, although it wasn't as green as expected for a Day 1 surface at this venue. He noted that the pitch seemed to be drying out faster than others, making it uncertain whether it would favor batting or offer some movement. Richardson praised the surface, stating it would likely offer some life throughout the game, making it an exciting Test match pitch. He added that losing the toss wouldn't be the end of the world, but acknowledged that New Zealand would be happy to bowl first on this surface, provided they bowl well.
Skipper of West Indies, Roston Chase, says that mentions that they would have preferred bowling first, given the wicket's green appearance. He emphasizes the need to bat well, considering the conditions. He praises their batting department for their endurance, bowling over 160 overs, and their bowling performance, restricting New Zealand to under 250. The team has made three changes as Anderson Phillip replaces Johann Layne, Kavem Hodge is included, and Tagenarine Chanderpaul is out due to an injury.
Tom Latham, skipper of New Zealand, says that they are going to bowl first. Adds that winning the toss and bowling first is a tradition on this track. Continues that they have to see how the pitch behaves on the deliveries and then shape their batting according to that. Also states that in Basin, the wicket gets better as the game rolls on. Also says that they are all pumped up. It ends up saying that they have four changes, with Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips set to be in the starting XI. Additionally, they have two debutants, as Mitchell Hay and Michael Rae are also in the playing XI.
New Zealand (Playing XI) - Tom Latham (C), Devon Conway, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Hay (WK), Glenn Phillips, Zakary Foulkes, Blair Tickner, Jacob Duffy, Michael Rae.
West Indies (Playing XI) - John Campbell, Brandon King, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope, Roston Chase (C), Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach (WK), Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Anderson Phillip, Ojay Shields.
TOSS - Tom Latham has won the coin flip and elected to BOWL first.
The West Indies, meanwhile, will be riding a wave of confidence and buzz not felt in years. That 'Herculean effort' in Christchurch proved their resilience and ability to bat for long periods. The challenge now for Roston Chase's side is to produce a more consistent performance, particularly in their first innings, where they were dismissed for a mere 167 in the first Test. They can't rely on miracles in every game. If they can replicate the patience and fight shown by Justin Greaves, Kemar Roach, and Shai Hope earlier in the match, they might pose a serious threat to a win in Wellington.
For the Black Caps, the focus shifts to Wellington's Basin Reserve with a need to close out matches when in dominant positions. They had West Indies at 72-4 in the fourth innings, chasing an impossible 531, but failed to secure the final six wickets. Captain Tom Latham will be looking for his bowlers to be more clinical and perhaps benefit from a less depleted attack, after injuries to key seamers Matt Henry and Nathan Smith impacted their ability to finish the job. The hosts will be buzzing to right that wrong and leverage home advantage to go one-nil up in the series. It will be interesting to see on who replaces Smith and Henry if they have not yet recovered.
Hello and welcome, cricket fans from around the globe, to the much-anticipated build-up for the second Test match between New Zealand and West Indies! The series has already set the tone with one of the most remarkable Test matches in recent history at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. The first Test ended in a thrilling draw after the West Indies, following on the brink of defeat, produced a legendary fourth-innings performance. Justin Greaves' unbeaten double century (202) and Kemar Roach's monumental resistance saw them achieve the highest fourth-innings total in a five-day Test and secure a famous draw, etching their names in the annals of cricket history.
