Right then, that is it from this run-fest where over 400 runs were scored, but in the end, Chennai managed to get over the line. The Indian T20 League is providing us with a lot of excitement and the action continues on 18th April, Tuesday when Mumbai take on Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for the build-up. Until then, goodbye and cheers!

Devon Conway is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant knock. He says that he is happy with how things went for him and the team as well. Adds that he tries to always play good cricket shots and whenever he is under pressure he tries to react to the situation. Mentions that the fans of Chennai are amazing and loyal and when you have MS Dhoni in your team it is always a good thing.

MS Dhoni, the skipper of Chennai says that when you come to Bangalore you know it's a good wicket and you always look to score more runs. Mentions that the wicket was a bit tacky, to begin with and the pacers got a bit of help. Further says that they tried to keep it simple and looked to get more runs in the second half of the innings. On Shivam Dube, he says that he has the talent and can turn the game in the middle overs and he has to believe in himself a bit more to do it regularly. Mentions that when you score 210-220 runs, the batters need to keep hitting and if either Faf du Plessis or Glenn Maxwell had stayed, Bangalore would have chased it down. Adds that it is a challenge bowling at the death especially with the dew taking effect as well but they did well and with Dwayne Bravo being the bowling coach, it certainly helps the young guys a lot.

The presentation ceremony...

Tushar Deshpande joins in for a quick chat. Says that they all know that the wicket here is good for batting and one side of the ground is shorter than the other. Adds that they had to back their strengths and wait for the batters to make the mistake which worked for them. Mentions that he believes in staying in the present and even if one over goes for runs you have three overs to come back in the game. He ends by saying he has the confidence in himself to do the job for the team.

The captain of Bangalore, Faf du Plessis says that while fielding he bruised his ribs a bit and was feeling discomfort while batting. Adds that they batted brilliantly and set up the chase perfectly for Dinesh Karthik and others, but credits Chennai for their bowling. Tells that it was difficult for the bowlers out there but they did well except for the last four overs. Mentions that 200 was a par score but they gave away 10-15 extra runs. Says that they conceded a few runs towards the short boundary to Shivam Dube. Praises Mohammed Siraj for his bowling effort as it was not easy. Ends by saying that he lost a bit of power in the end and would have loved to go hard against the spinners in the middle overs, but they need to learn from it and move on.

Earlier in the game, Faf du Plessis didn't hesitate to put Chennai into bat and everyone knew it was going to be a high-scoring game. After losing an early wicket, Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane went on a bit of a roll to get things going for Chennai after which Shivam Dube came in and flexed his muscles as he sent the ball into the crowd on more than a few occasions. Conway top-scored with 83 and Dube too got a fifty. There were a few lusty blows hit by the batters that came in at the death to take them to a big score of 226 runs. Mohammed Siraj was the only bowler that had an economy of less than 10 runs in an over for Bangalore and they were truly hammered with the ball. Coming to the chase, Bangalore made a stellar recovery after losing two early wickets only to give it all away in the death overs. Chennai managed to just stay in the game and wait for an opening and once it came, they made sure to end up on the winning side.

Bangalore will be distraught with that loss and for the second time this season, they have lost a game at home that they should have won. They didn't have the best of starts with the bat and looked shaky in the first 3 or so overs. After that though, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell found their groove and put on a big stand of 126 runs, both getting to their fifties in the process as well. The pair looked well on course to finishing things off by themselves but both got out in quick succession, leaving the middle order with a bit of work to do. Dinesh Karthik played a good knock but gave away his wicket at the wrong time and there wasn't enough experience in the batting line-up to take them over the line.

Chennai have won a great game of cricket and gathered two vital points on the road. They got a brilliant start with the ball as Akash Singh got the big wicket of Virat Kohli in the first over and then Tushar Deshpande too bagged a wicket. They could have killed the game inside the Powerplay but both Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell were dropped early in their innings. This proved to be really costly as the pair took the Chennai bowlers apart. However, the spinners did a fine job just before the death overs as both Faf and Maxwell fell courtesy of a couple of fine catches by MS Dhoni. The death bowling was stellar and Chennai managed to hold on to their catches when it mattered most, ending up winning the game.

Yet another nail-biter game, but Chennai have just about edged it. Chennai with a memorable comeback as they seemed to be on the verge of defeat at one stage. However, heartbreak for Bangalore and inexperience in the lower order has cost them dearly and it will be a tough pill to swallow.

Commentary

We are back for the chase! The players are already out in the middle now. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis are the openers for Bangalore who will look to give them a good start. Chennai have used their Impact Player as Akash Singh is on for Ambati Rayudu and he will start the proceedings as well. Here we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Right then, Chennai have posted a mammoth total on the board and just needs to be disciplined with their bowling and they will get over the line. Bangalore, on the other hand will need all of their top guns to fire if they are to gun this total down and Virat Kohli will be crucial for them. You may think that it is game over, but we have seen miracles happen in cricket. Let's see how the chase unfolds.

Shivam Dube is up for a quick chat after his excellent knock earlier in the innings. He says that it was amazing for him and playing at this stadium in front of this crowd felt nice. Adds that when he is in the rhythm, he feels unstoppable and the team backs him as well. Mentions that the size of the ground and the wicket both suit the batters and he was able to do well. Ends by saying that 226 is a good total on any wicket and they are confident of defending it but they need to bowl well.

Bangalore will be very disappointed with their bowling effort as they were taken apart by the Chennai batters. Mohammed Siraj got them the early breakthrough, but they just couldn't build on that. Their spinners were ineffective in the middle overs as well and the pacers had an off day too. The only thing that will give them hope that big total have been chased on this ground. Every bowler picked up a wicket except for Maxwell who initially bowled two overs, but had to bowl the last four balls as Harshal Patel served two above the waist height No Balls in the last over.

Chennai lost one of their in-form openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad quite early, but that did not effect them one bit. Devon Conway was timing the ball well and Ajinkya Rahane once again showed his new attacking style. Both of them added 74 runs together and at a good rate too. Rahane fell, but Shivam Dube took his place did not let the momentum go and smashed a 27-ball 52 to took them close to that 200-run mark. Conway also cleare the fence with ease, but ultimately got dismissed on 83 of just 45 balls. After, that some quick cameos from Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali took them huge total.

A brilliant batting display from Chennai! They finished on 226/6 which is also the second-highest first innings total in this season. Their batters showed attacking intent which worked for them and they will surely the happier side going into the break. Bangalore will need to go back to the drawing board as their death bowling proved to be very expensive again.

Ends well does Glenn Maxwell. Fires this one in on the pads and Moeen Ali only manages to flick it wide of short fine leg for a single. 15 runs come off the final over and Chennai finish with 226/6 on the board!

19.51

Bowls it full and outside off, MS Dhoni is unable to get under it and heaves it toward wide long on for a single.

19.4W

OUT! CAUGHT! Glenn Maxwell does get a wicket. Maxwell valiantly throws up the ball yet again and bowls it on the stumps. Ravindra Jadeja steps out and looks to launch it straight back over the bowler's head but doesn't get the timing right. The ball goes high up in the air and toward long off. The substitute fielder there, Suyash Prabhudessai settles under it and takes a good catch.

MS Dhoni comes out to the middle now with a huge roar in the stadium.

19.41wd

WIDE! Quicker and flatter, just spilled down the leg side. A wide is called.

19.36

SIX! Ravindra Jadeja doesn't miss out on the Free Hit this time! Tossed up around off, Jadeja comes forward and smokes the ball high and handsome over the long on fence for a biggie.

19.32nb

The ball slips out of Harshal Patel's hands once again as he looks to serve a wide yorker. The ball ends up being a high full toss outside off. Moeen Ali tries to slap it away but gets an under edge toward the keeper for one. It isn't called a no ball on the field and Chennai do review it. the replays show that this one is over waist-height as well and the decision is overturned. Harshal could be out of the attack as well for serving two beamers in the same over and yes, he is off! Stand-in skipper Glenn Maxwell will finish off the final over.

Harshal Patel has bowled two above the waist-height full tosses and according to the rules he will not be able to complete this over. Glenn Maxwell will bowl the last four balls now.

19.31wd

WIDE! Another slower one, trying to attack the legs but this is spilled down the leg side for a wide.

19.21lb

Leg bye! Slower one, full and angled in at the toes. Ravindra Jadeja fails to get it away and the ball goes off the legs toward short fine leg. They get a leg bye.

Faf du Plessis is off the field at the moment. Glenn Maxwell is acting as the stand-in skipper for now.

19.22nb

No ball! Oh, that could be really costly! Harshal Patel comes from around the wicket and looks for a slower yorker. The ball ends up being a beamer that is angled in at the body. Moeen Ali plays it out toward mid-wicket for a single and a no ball is called for height. Bangalore do review it eventually though. The replays show that it is clearly over the waist and a Free Hit will now follow.

19.11

Slower one, pushed full and wide of the off stump. Ravindra Jadeja walks toward the ball and hits it on the full to long off for a run.

Harshal Patel (3-0-30-1) to bowl the last over.

18.41

Fullish length on middle and leg and skidding through, Ravindra Jadeja mistimes the heave behind square leg for one.

18.30

Slower one, bowled a bit shorter and angled well across the left-hander. Ravindra Jadeja looks to drag it across through the leg side but is well beaten.

18.21

Gets the yorker in outside off, Moeen Ali jams this one out toward mid off and picks up a single.

18.16

Chennai though have managed to make a sort of a comeback thanks to a couple of well-judged catches by MS Dhoni. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell put on 126 runs for the third wicket and it seemed Bangalore will cruise to victory but now it is all about wickets. Let's see who comes out on top here. Quick hands from MS Dhoni but Dinesh Karthik had his back leg rooted inside the crease.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Chennai are underway straightaway! Mohammed Siraj starts with a good-length delivery, on middle, Ruturaj Gaikwad knocks it towards mid on for a quick single.

We are all set for the play to begin! The two umpires are out in the middle and so are the players of Bangalore. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway are the opening pair for Chennai. It will be Mohammed Siraj to get proceedings underway with the ball here. Let's play...

The skipper of Chennai, MS Dhoni says that the toss to some extent does matter and it is slightly difficult to contain the batters in the second innings. Adds that it is important to not think too much ahead and reckons anything around 180 to 200 is a good total and it is important to keep on assessing it as the game goes on. Informs that Sisanda Magala is out injured and Matheesha Pathirana is in and admits that there have been a few injuries but it is part of the tournament.

Faf du Plessis, the captain of Bangalore says that they will bowl first. Adds that with the Impact Player rule every team plays an extra batter and any score around 180-200 is now chasable. Tells that the ball travels fast here at this venue and it looks like a good surface. Mentions that dew could be a factor in this game. Informs they are unchanged but have some tricks up their sleeves.

Impact Players nominated by Chennai - Akash Singh, Dwaine Pretorius, Subhranshu Senapati, Shaik Rasheed, and Rajvardhan Hangargekar.

Chennai (Playing XI) - Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu (In for Akash Singh), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (C/WK), Matheesha Pathirana (In for Sisanda Magala), Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana.

Impact Players nominated by Bangalore - Suyash Prabhudessai, David Willey, Akash Deep, Karn Sharma, and Anuj Rawat.

Bangalore (Unchanged Playing XI) - Faf du Plessis (C), Virat Kohli, Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (WK), Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Wayne Parnell, Vyshak Vijay Kumar, Mohammed Siraj.

TOSS - Up goes the flip of the coin and it lands in favor of Bangalore. They will BOWL first.

Chennai, on the other hand, lost their previous game in heartbreaking fashion as they lost by 3 runs and that too at home. They will now look to bounce back with a win against rivals Bangalore and move up the points table. Ravindra Jadeja has been very consistent with the ball and has done well with the bat as well but it is the batting order that needs to show more authority. The top three made up of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane will be key if they are to win this game. Skipper MS Dhoni almost pulled off a vintage win last time around but did pick up a slight niggle as well and it will be interesting to see if he plays or not in this game. Which side will regin supreme and grab bragging rights here? We shall find out. Toss and team news in a bit.

Bangalore come into this game on the back of a solid win against Delhi in which Virat Kohli once again scored a half-century and he seems to be at the top of his game at the moment. The rest of the batting though is a bit inconsistent and guys like Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis need to support Kohli a bit more. Their bowling was pretty good last time around as Mohammed Siraj and Wayne Parnell were on the money inside the Powerplay and Vyshak Vijay Kumar was the surprise package as he picked up three wickets. They will now look to use the support of the vociferous home crowd and get another win.
