Hello and welcome to the first ODI between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. After the only test, it is time for the white-ball series to take place and both Asian sides will be keen to make the most of the series. A flurry of changes will be seen in this series. The hosts will be keen to make the most of the home conditions. The likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana are back with Kusal Mendis leading the troop. They are certainly the favourites with their bowling frowns.

The Afghanistan cricket team is all set for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. The hosts emerged victorious in the only test match and with this ODI both teams will fight hard with the white ball. The first ODI will be played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka have been dominant in the last 5 ODI matches against Afghanistan winning three of them. They also clinched a series victory against Zimbabwe in the same format. They will want to keep their dominance and use the home conditions to the fullest. Afghanistan, on the other hand will be playing their first ODI series after the 2023 ODI World Cup. They have been playing the T20I format since then and recently concluded a series against India in similar conditions. Hashmatullah Shahidi will be leading the squad with Rahmat Shah as his deputy. They will have the services of their superstars like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Ibrahim Zadran, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman among others. They need the early win to gain confidence and will want to win the white ball series which will consist of ODI's and T20I's. The three-match ODI series will be a great opportunity for them to bounce back after their last 2 losses in the World Cup. Which team are you supporting?
